- WallnutBoy, on 07/18/2008, -4/+245Someone paid attention to that Cracked article..
- Shizcake1337, on 07/19/2008, -0/+20Was exactly what I thought too.
- srturner47, on 07/19/2008, -1/+1Geez! I thought that same thing. Are people really that easy? No wonder "buy it now" is a successful advertising slogan.
- getrdone656, on 07/19/2008, -0/+5would have got more diggs but no one died
- hiPpymIck, on 07/19/2008, -1/+2reminded me of Break.com
(they have this huge arrow pointing upwards underneath the DiggThis widget) - PJLarabell, on 07/19/2008, -0/+4I digged like I was told!
- Crisender111, on 07/20/2008, -1/+2You ask me to "Digg this" & I will specifically BURY it.
- zippe, on 07/18/2008, -9/+146you dont have to tell us to digg it, geez. that would probably make us digging less likely anyways.
- Aeric, on 07/19/2008, -0/+30That's what I came here to say.
It is like a comedian starting a joke with "This is funny"
It is for us to decide. - RoflcopterFUEL, on 07/19/2008, -9/+6Too bad it actually works.
- tian2992, on 07/19/2008, -2/+27Dugg for the great man that Is Nelson Mandela, almost undugg for lame title
- GassyTurd, on 07/20/2008, -3/+0He is a terrorist. Sorry, a "freedom fighter."
- clickwir, on 07/19/2008, -5/+17Whoopie. I might have cared if the "Digg this --->" wasn't there. Now, not only do I note care.. .but I'm going to bury it too.
- acliffhang3r, on 07/19/2008, -7/+4Woah! hold it there Susie! Don't go pouting on me now. :-)
Maybe a bigg *hug*.might help.. THERE! does that feel better? - danman890, on 07/20/2008, -1/+3Fact: You will go to hell if you bury a Nelson Mandela article.
- acliffhang3r, on 07/19/2008, -7/+4Woah! hold it there Susie! Don't go pouting on me now. :-)
- jockser, on 07/19/2008, -3/+19I intentionally bury every article that has a DIGG THIS written in the title.
- somestranger26, on 07/19/2008, -2/+8I buried it for having "Digg this" in the title, I mean this person even went so far as to add an obnoxious arrow pointing at itself... Otherwise I would've dugg it.
- biggerapple3am, on 07/19/2008, -2/+2"I have morals, and I won't stand for this title! Wait a minute, I kinda sound like an ***** when I whine about silly ***** like this..."
- jadrian, on 07/20/2008, -0/+4I Buried it. This is ridiculous. As in most cases a quick search reveals a bunch of submitted articles about the same thing, some of them with sane subjects, so why not digg those instead?
- MyExSucks, on 07/20/2008, -4/+6Digg this --> Today is my 21st Birthday!
- adrenalmedulla9, on 07/20/2008, -0/+3DUGG.
- logload, on 07/20/2008, -0/+4psh buried you said digg this
- solfizz, on 07/20/2008, -1/+1Except you dugg it.
- Aeric, on 07/19/2008, -0/+30That's what I came here to say.
- BigE89, on 07/19/2008, -19/+43A true hero. Its because of people like him that I still have hope in this world
- illdourmum, on 07/19/2008, -21/+3that's great... i read about it in Big Woop magazine
- JustFender, on 07/19/2008, -1/+1ive read of that magazine, it ***** apparently, well according to ***** you magazine,
Blaad Tarantula, dont play with my style i might sting ya

- JustFender, on 07/19/2008, -1/+1ive read of that magazine, it ***** apparently, well according to ***** you magazine,
- PeckerSlap, on 07/19/2008, -5/+14stfu
- sfaiku, on 07/19/2008, -4/+14Yes, he's so compassionate. He's never met a Zimbabwean dictator he doesn't like.
- coloneltcb, on 07/19/2008, -8/+15OK Apartheid sucks (sucked). Therefore, Mandella must be exactly the opposite and a great leader in every way?
No. Mandella's biggest legacy in South Africa is how AIDS is widespread because he chose to ignore it, ignore it and ignore it some more, then finally appoint an AIDS czar who refused to believe that there was a link between HIV and AIDS.
Yes, happy birthday *****...- kilps, on 07/19/2008, -2/+7You are probably thinking of Mbeki - current president. Mandela's organisation does tons of work helping to fight AIDS ... and just not being (too) bitter after spending 27 years in jail makes him a great leader. Get informed
- wertach, on 07/19/2008, -3/+2Spending 27 years in jail made him live longer. He would have been dead a long time ago if he had remained in the public. Lead poisoning...........
- gamingspartan, on 07/20/2008, -1/+1I think he is a great leader but does anyone remember that time from 1961-1980's when he was actually involved in hostile guerrilla warfare? (not quite the Gandhi route) Then he later turns around and distances himself and starts to "Sharply criticize" the ANC? Thats like being a nazi soldier after the war when your put in front of council deciding if you can return to your home and you turn around and say, jee well I sure didnt approve of what they were doing but you know it was for the expansion of Germany. Nelson Mandela is most definitely an incredible individual but he has a lot of blood on his hands and history tends to not admit that. Africa's better but anybody hear about that genocide thing thats going on down there?
- cutekelvins, on 07/19/2008, -2/+1Many happy returns of the day, Nelson Mandela.
- Hoofenhoffer, on 07/19/2008, -4/+10i guess terrorists do live to see old age
- Coventrian, on 07/19/2008, -5/+10A hero? the man was terrorist, you might think the means justified the ends, I dare say that's what the Al Queda supporters thought when aircraft hit skyscrapers.
I love how as long as a terrorist is fighting for what you think is right he's a great man.
Personally I think the means of terrorism never justify any end.- NodOfficer, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.
- b0geyman, on 07/19/2008, -2/+6Yes, that whole part of the world is so much better off now that they booted out those evil white people.
- diggrnumber1, on 07/19/2008, -3/+3You still have hope in this world? Are you delusional?
- chubbstar, on 07/19/2008, -2/+8dont forget that his wife invented 'collaring' as a means of volent protest. (its when you put a gasoline soaked tire around someones neck and light it.)
- lajaw, on 07/19/2008, -2/+6He is a dyed in the wool communist.
- cygnus2112, on 07/20/2008, -3/+5Nelson Mandela? Hero?
Terrorist. Marxist. Read about the Church Street Massacre:
http://www.netcomuk.co.uk/~springbk/enemy.html
- illdourmum, on 07/19/2008, -21/+3that's great... i read about it in Big Woop magazine
- aksn1p3r, on 07/19/2008, -9/+70We used to get beat in school, he freed our country from apartheid! The good grow old in this case.
- louiebaur, on 07/19/2008, -14/+4Man that is an awesome title I guess Digg This can work!
- cutekelvins, on 07/19/2008, -0/+2This stupid comment may not fetch you diggs.
- deweyhewson, on 07/19/2008, -18/+99And still on the Terrorist Watch List™!
Hooray for us.- akula89, on 07/19/2008, -1/+56actually, he was removed.
http://www.efluxmedia.com/news_Mandela_Removed_fro ...- markperia, on 07/19/2008, -0/+11why was he even in the list in the first place?
- specialK16, on 07/19/2008, -3/+7"Mandela and other members of the African National Congress “made it” to the US terror watch list because they fought against South Africa's apartheid, a system of legalized racial segregation which was put into effect by the National Party government between 1948 and 1994."
- markperia, on 07/19/2008, -2/+15you know there's something wrong in the world if doing good gets you in the Terrorist Watch List.
- Prototek, on 07/19/2008, -0/+3http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African_National_Cong ...
- TGMD, on 07/19/2008, -2/+2He was on the list because he founded the militant wing of the ANC, an organization that although had a great objective Did some really ***** up things. Well the militant wing anyway.
He denounced the militant wing though a long time ago if memory serves me correctly.
It was not like the US was actively trying to keep apartheid in place when they added him to the list people.
- TsuruchiBrian, on 07/19/2008, -5/+4Maybe they can take him off the list as a birthday present.
- akula89, on 07/19/2008, -1/+56actually, he was removed.
- NBK87, on 07/19/2008, -21/+9This is the guy who called Yassir Arafat his "brother in arms." Count me underwhelmed.
- Charlatan22, on 07/19/2008, -3/+22Well I guess if you're commanding me to digg it....
- chops76, on 07/19/2008, -0/+6...then I'll go ahead and bury it.
- 88chrisb, on 07/19/2008, -24/+11Digg this --->

- EricSancho, on 07/19/2008, -4/+4yeah, but we were too busy fap, fap, fapping off at the thought that The Dark Knight was finally out. So no diggers actually realized.
- Niubai, on 07/19/2008, -8/+86Nelson Mandela's life is an example to everyone, but an article with a mandatory "DIGG THIS" on the title it's not.
- trotskyist, on 07/19/2008, -11/+11Happy Birthday Nelson!
- specialK16, on 07/19/2008, -2/+2ahhh haaa!
- FOcast, on 07/19/2008, -8/+10621 page article + "Digg this" = no Digg.
- ivanxivann, on 07/19/2008, -4/+7Really? Wow...
I thought diggers were better than this. I can just hear you on the other side of the screen, "Nobody tells me what to do".
- ivanxivann, on 07/19/2008, -4/+7Really? Wow...
- dzw120, on 07/19/2008, -9/+16Inaccurate. Mandela's dead. Saddam killed all the Mandelas.

You've done the world a lot good
Cheers !! - dogpigeoncow, on 07/19/2008, -7/+14Days like today make me proud to be South African
- eigenweasel, on 07/19/2008, -0/+25Between the power-cuts, the farm murders, the police corruption, the car jackings, the gang rapes, the illegal immigration, the xenophobic attacks, the education crisis and the crumbling infrastructure - you need all the help you can get.
- SSUK, on 07/19/2008, -11/+4How is that different from any other country in the world (minus one or two things depending where you go)?
- arobicha, on 07/19/2008, -0/+13@SSUK
Where are you from? I'll make a mental note never to go there... I'm pretty happy to say that my home country doesn't have a problem with overt police corruption, excessive car jacking, rampant gang rape, excessive illegal immigration, socially accepted xenophobia, a completely broken education system, OR a crumbling infrastructure... Sure there are small problems with them, but the average joe just shouldn't (and doesn't) have to deal with them...
Unless you live in a third world country, there are people that have it MUCH worse than you do. - jamdogg, on 07/19/2008, -9/+2He said South Africa not deep south USA
- Syphon8, on 07/19/2008, -1/+2http://youtube.com/watch?v=de6V90jT4SQ

- etx313, on 07/19/2008, -15/+5MANDELLLAAAAAAA!!! Digg this _))======D
- Adgeman, on 07/19/2008, -13/+11I'll digg it if only to offset some of the idiots who won't digg it because of the way the OP wrote the description. Regardless of what you think about the post let's take a few moments to reflect on Mandela's life and everything he's achieved. That in itself deserves to be dug.
- Hockey13, on 07/19/2008, -1/+2I disagree. Though the subject may be worthy, the execution is very important on a site that ranks content. This site has 21 slides, which pisses me off. That is why I'm not digging this.
- kyle212, on 07/19/2008, -9/+6Ok lets forget the digg this and just think about Nelson Mandela people!
- djlethal, on 07/19/2008, -10/+1This means Eminem's performing.. I hope theres some video footage of it.
Happy Birthday Nelson! - eigenweasel, on 07/19/2008, -6/+21Free Nelson Mandela*

- sClubDevin, on 07/19/2008, -0/+2someone's a progressive thinker.
- DuffyDirect, on 07/19/2008, -0/+1yeah you're right like 90% of diggers who scream about foreign entanglements, shutting down "north american union" and squealing like little girls for ron paul. they're angels here.
- bobster00001, on 07/19/2008, -0/+4its south africa? full of aids and fail

- ayeroxor, on 07/19/2008, -1/+1Not only does anyone that doesn't live under a rock know this, JFallon126 told us 9 minutes before you did.
- TwoKill, on 07/19/2008, -0/+10Not to mention the article was submitted yesterday,
- Mard, on 07/19/2008, -0/+2Everything on digg is 1-2 days late.

- kansai22, on 07/19/2008, -1/+3I'm playing Steve Wonder - Happy Birthday just once today in honor.
- fandyboy, on 07/19/2008, -4/+6And people say prison doesn't rehabilitate..........
- Ransack, on 07/19/2008, -3/+33South Africa is a total mess. Crime is thru the roof with 100,000 murders a year. Blackouts are common. Poverty is as rampant as it ever was. Mandela freed his people, but totally FAILED to help give them a better life.
- eigenweasel, on 07/19/2008, -5/+8All that is true. Except it was F.W. de Klerk who ended apartheid and announced free elections.
- plopman, on 07/19/2008, -3/+0murders are
- lukemann, on 07/19/2008, -0/+3My thoughts exactly. All Mandela did was rot in jail until apartheid ended for other reasons. Then he got out and failed his country miserably. Steven Biko is one of the real heros.
- Tedricks, on 07/20/2008, -0/+2Everyone is trying to get out of South Africa. It is falling apart. I'm so glad I moved to Australia.
- Tunguska, on 07/20/2008, -1/+1Hopefully not to St Ives with all the others.

- TobyDumb, on 07/19/2008, -2/+1His teeth sure do
- darkane, on 07/19/2008, -2/+2Happy birthday! We, at the Guardian, got you a little present. It's not much, but we hope you like it. It's a completely unnecessary big black box over your face.
- ufia, on 07/19/2008, -9/+2Ron Paul accused Nelson Mandela of stealing his bike.
/I don't know if this is the claim that entitled Ron Paul to donations from white supremacist groups. - BonersMilloy, on 07/19/2008, -5/+6I think Mr.Mandella smoked all my drugs
- ToeAndno, on 07/19/2008, -9/+3Buried, for being told to digg!
- sx66gns, on 07/19/2008, -9/+3I love this guy , seriously.
- TobyDumb, on 07/19/2008, -7/+2Oh I can digg that!
- kolop1, on 07/19/2008, -11/+16Who cares?
- bingymon, on 07/19/2008, -4/+4You should. Nelson Mandela is a man who's lived his entire life on principles he believed in without ever wavering. His legacy -- believe it or not -- has a direct relation to you regardless of where you live in the world. Because of him, his people and you are truly free. Madiba has set the bar and the leaders of the world would do well to strive for it.
- calenerd, on 07/20/2008, -3/+1you're a prick.

- guybrush58, on 07/19/2008, -3/+23Why is he loved so much? I thought South Africa is in a terrible state right now. (I must of missed the history, since im 18)
- SaladCactusKing, on 07/19/2008, -0/+8He was one of the principal fighters of Apartheid, which is a good thing.Unfortunately, post-Apartheid SA is in an even worse state than pre-Apartheid. Sure, the racism and second class treatment is gone, but the rest of the country is in an even worse state than ever.
For the record, I'm not saying Apartheid was right, it was a travesty. The problem is that the post-apartheid SA government just expected everything to magically get better by stopping it and instead the country is still doing awful. White farmers are getting murdered, AIDS is at an all time high, etc.- angusware, on 07/19/2008, -1/+9Correction: Post-Apartheid racism and second class treatment still exists: different color this time.

- goddessophia, on 07/19/2008, -8/+5I've always admired people who have passion and seek peace while maintaining dignity in the face of adversity.
"Don't ever let someone tell you, you can't do something. Not even me. You got a dream, you got to protect it. People can't do something themselves, they want to tell you they can't do it. You want something, go get it. Period. All right?" - The Pursuit of Happiness- angusware, on 07/19/2008, -2/+3peace? Like putting a tire around someone's head and setting it on fire? Pretty peaceful guy that Nelson...
- goddessophia, on 07/19/2008, -0/+3Sometimes to attain peace you have to resort to war. I consider myself a passive person but if my sense of peace is compromised or the safety of my home and family is compromised and the only option where to eliminate those who threaten my sense of peace, I would fight. Sometimes to promote peace you have to use war to eliminate those who threaten peace.
Surely this sounds like a justification to war but allowing a barbarian or savage to make such a decision (in favor of peace) is just moronic. Didn't Jesus say," he who lives by the sword dies by the sword." Such a statement can be translated in many ways such as, if I attack someone with this sword I may possibly get killed by a similar sword. It doesn't necessarily mean put your sword down because by not using your sword you will defeat death. The situation in which Jesus used the saying was one in which surrendering would have saved the lives of his apostles because He was the one that was persecuted.
Peace is not attainable without war and war would not be war if there was no desire or prior knowledge of peace. They are not co-dependent but interdependent of each other. Do you understand the difference?
How does one define chaos if they never knew peace?
- compgeek, on 07/19/2008, -10/+5Happy Birthday Mr. Mandela you are an inspiration. hopefully the rest of this world and it's leaders will see your actions and follow suit. if only there were more like you this world would be a much better place
