- geek22, on 04/19/2008, -7/+45It's spelled Irak in Dutch and German.
- ElAssoWipo, on 04/19/2008, -2/+32And French, and spanish.

- iticu, on 04/19/2008, -1/+1People don't seem to realise that they can swear on Digg.
- acceleration, on 04/19/2008, -12/+9Right, so if it's spelt "Irak" in Dutch/German/French/Spanish (which I'm sure it is), why is the rest of the submission in English?
- bigpeeler, on 04/19/2008, -9/+2Quite the astute question. No wonder then that - A. It's getting Dugg down and B. No one has answered you.
- Wartyboskfapped, on 04/19/2008, -1/+7The answer is: no one is perfect. The day that you are, please get in touch with the rest of us and give us the secret, won't you?
Submitter is presumably writing in their second language. This is the *international* web, it's not just for English speakers. Thanks for being so tolerant of what must be ranked as the most huge mistake that could ever be made.
*sheesh*- DuffyDirect, on 04/19/2008, -0/+2I'm perfect, the secret is stoicism
- ElAssoWipo, on 04/19/2008, -0/+1Zeno of Citium ftw.

- pnmoore, on 04/19/2008, -11/+1The submitter is from the UK...maybe their education system is, at best, no better than ours?
- Jholder112233, on 04/19/2008, -1/+1Trust me, our education system isn't the greatest but we can spell Iraq.
- sny1120, on 04/19/2008, -1/+29here is the right spelling: العراق

- notman, on 04/19/2008, -2/+5Yep, and here you are.
- DiggsOnlyJew, on 04/19/2008, -2/+35Submitter is from the UK.
- alanr19, on 04/19/2008, -13/+4So? whats your point. You assumed I was talking about the US in my original post.
You are not the center of the universe ya know.- acceleration, on 04/19/2008, -2/+9But you *are* from the US, aren't you? So DiggsOnlyJew assumed correctly then, unlike you.
- alanr19, on 04/19/2008, -4/+2@acceleration
what? - dalos, on 04/19/2008, -1/+3Irak? Yup that'd be our education system at work again. 5 years at war in a country and you cant even spell it properly.
I believe you are blaming the US education system for the misspelling, however the submitter is from the UK, so you should blame the UK education system, no? - iticu, on 04/19/2008, -0/+1I'm struggling to find any evidence that Alan is from the US. =|
- SSUK, on 04/19/2008, -0/+4Doesn't mean he's a UK national.
- DuffyDirect, on 04/19/2008, -0/+1no free rides!!!

- alanr19, on 04/19/2008, -13/+4So? whats your point. You assumed I was talking about the US in my original post.
- OutsideofDreams, on 04/19/2008, -2/+155 seconds on Wikipeida finds that Irak is the Turkish spelling of the word.
- Radan, on 04/19/2008, -1/+11Irak is a very common spelling all around the world. For example, it's also spelled Irak in Sweden.
- alittleroy101, on 04/19/2008, -7/+1Right. Except the submission is in ***** English, and the submitter is obviously retarded.
- smoothmedia, on 04/19/2008, -8/+3Ok, but this is not a turkish or swedish language website.

- scabbers, on 04/19/2008, -16/+10People drank deeply of the kool-aid. I'm still waiting for all those internet assholes who bet the farm on WMD in Iraq to suck on my salty, British balls.
- zelig, on 04/19/2008, -3/+8Assume the position, Senators...
"[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs." Letter to President Clinton, signed by Sens. Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, and others Oct. 9, 1998. - northernmonkee, on 04/19/2008, -2/+4You should remember this war was justified on the back of British "Intelligence". It was us Brits that said there were WMD's and convinced the world of that fact, not the US.
- rdoger6424, on 04/19/2008, -1/+1the back of "British" "Intelligence"
- youareretarded, on 04/19/2008, -3/+2BS, any link of Iraq to the terrorism was all manufactured by people at the top of the bush admin. Tony Blair was suckered into believing what the bush administration wanted.
British intelligence? I don't think so! - scabbers, on 04/19/2008, -1/+1This is true, I just added the British part in for the lulz.
- zelig, on 04/19/2008, -3/+8Assume the position, Senators...
- thedevice, on 04/19/2008, -14/+3Bill Moyers rocks, but you are making me hate him
- JDove6, on 04/19/2008, -0/+2why? what's wrong with this piece?
- ElAssoWipo, on 04/19/2008, -20/+60Iraq is spelled with a K in almost every language but english.
- FapCommander, on 04/19/2008, -12/+34But the article was written in English
- bsmang, on 04/19/2008, -7/+8So? Does that mean it can only be posted by people who speak and write English perfectly?
- hellosaysme, on 04/19/2008, -5/+15yes. yes it does.
- ElAssoWipo, on 04/19/2008, -1/+25Sometimes it's hard to remember every little way the english language misspells every single foreign word.
- DaffyDuck, on 04/19/2008, -1/+2Well, you could always look a few submissions down in the World News section and see the common spelling.
- ElAssoWipo, on 04/19/2008, -1/+11He probably knows, he just didn't think about it at the time. English is my third language so I can see how he can make this mistake, I've made it myself a few times. Especially with French words (that basically make a third of the English language). I "misspell" them in English by spelling them correctly in their language of origin.
- dsmx, on 04/19/2008, -1/+2The country was created by the English as well.
- ElAssoWipo, on 04/19/2008, -0/+4The origin of the name Iraq (Arabic: العراق 'al-‘Irāq, Turkish: Irak, Assyrian: ܥܪܐܩ, Kurdish: عيَراق) is disputed. There are several suggested origins for the name. One dates to the Sumerian city of Uruk (or Erech)[6] ; another maintains according to Professor Wilhelm Eilers, The name al-‘Irāq, for all its Arabic appearance, is derived from Middle Persian erāq "lowlands".[7]
Under the Persian Sassanid dynasty, there was a region called "Erak Arabi," referring to the part of the south western region of the Persian Empire that is now part of southern Iraq. The name Al-Iraq was used by the Arabs themselves, from the 6th century, for the land Iraq covers.
The English think they created half the world.- dsmx, on 04/19/2008, -1/+3At the end of World War I, the League of Nations granted the area to the United Kingdom as a mandate. It initially formed two former Ottoman vilayets (regions): Baghdad, and Basra into a single country in August 1921. Five years later, in 1926, the northern vilayet of Mosul was added, forming the territorial boundaries of the modern Iraqi state.
There you go Iraq as we know today didn't exist until 1926 (Kuwait was created a bit later when oil was discovered there) - ElAssoWipo, on 04/19/2008, -1/+2Iraq existed before the British Empire. They just put lines around it.
- dsmx, on 04/19/2008, -1/+1The name Iraq may of existed but the country didn't until 1926 when the British were in charge.
- ElAssoWipo, on 04/19/2008, -0/+2Making your point moot. Thank you for playing.
- dsmx, on 04/20/2008, -1/+2Why? I originally said that the country of Iraq was created by the English, until this country was formed the area was know as Mesopotamia and not Iraq. I fail to see why my original point is moot.
- ElAssoWipo, on 04/20/2008, -0/+2"The name Iraq may of existed"
We're talking about the spelling of the word Iraq.
- dsmx, on 04/19/2008, -1/+3At the end of World War I, the League of Nations granted the area to the United Kingdom as a mandate. - ElAssoWipo, on 04/19/2008, -0/+6International network...
- finaldarkone, on 04/19/2008, -1/+3I believe the last syllable (whether k or q ) is supposed to be pronounced guttural. Like the end of the word "cook". Needless to say, I don't think anybody in the western world pronounces it correctly.
- FapCommander, on 04/19/2008, -12/+34But the article was written in English
- Jeepinator, on 04/19/2008, -21/+3oh wow...irak. you are almost as smart as the girl from south carolina.

- GogDog, on 04/19/2008, -23/+4If you can't spell propaganda, you shouldn't be allowed to post propaganda. (The article title, not the actual article)
- GogDog, on 04/19/2008, -8/+2Keep digging me down.

- rdoger6424, on 04/19/2008, -0/+2Lol. Assumptions and the fact that the submitter is from the UK. Also many lulz to the fact that Iraq is spelled "Irak" in so many other languages:
French, Dutch, German, Spanish, Turkish, Etc.
- rdoger6424, on 04/19/2008, -0/+2Lol. Assumptions and the fact that the submitter is from the UK. Also many lulz to the fact that Iraq is spelled "Irak" in so many other languages:
- Zer01, on 04/19/2008, -13/+22such as South Africa and the Irak such as?
- Jauladeoro, on 08/27/2008, -1/+7I don't know why you're getting buried. I dugg you up because you made me lol. Maybe they don't get the beauty queen reference.
- donkeySays, on 04/19/2008, -13/+2Let's go to punk rawk show!
- CheeseburgerBro, on 04/19/2008, -16/+17I prefer the spelling "Erac", myself.
And, for the record, I never belove my leaders. They've got cooties. - cherwilco, on 04/19/2008, -13/+4I think he misspelled it on purpose. he made it to the front page didn't he?
- GogDog, on 04/19/2008, -14/+2The girl in the Busted Tees ad at the top is cute.
- OutsideofDreams, on 04/19/2008, -3/+17Iraq in English, Irak in Turkish. So the OP isn't entirely incorrect
- TheInformer, on 04/19/2008, -6/+2If this were a Turkish website, I'd agree.
- walkerboah, on 04/19/2008, -18/+3buried cause if he cant check spelling then surely cant check facts
- ElvisNixon, on 04/19/2008, -0/+14can't
- jetboyterp, on 04/19/2008, -6/+18I love how this submission is headed: "How your beloved leaders bought the Irak war"
And then: "Make up your own mind"
Like this isn't a biased piece...- Jexie, on 04/19/2008, -1/+4The title for the article is not the title of the video. Submitters bias doesn't magically rub onto Bill Moyers. Besides after watching the trained seals that call themselves journalists do their job in this video you'll know no attempt to bias it is even necessary.
- maybach, on 04/19/2008, -0/+3Some journalism does actually take sides, you know, and doesn't try to hide it.This idea of "balance" is usually nonsense, especially in American media, where the topic is strictly framed, before being presented as "neutral".
- emh924a, on 04/19/2008, -13/+3are ya smart as a 5th grader?
- Hoody28405, on 04/19/2008, -16/+3buried because of the posters LACK OF SPELLING
- ZombieSociety, on 04/19/2008, -0/+7Your lack of grammar and sentence structure whilst degrading one's spelling is quite ironic.
- rmxz, on 04/19/2008, -4/+6Despite the spelling, it's an interesting article.
Isn't something there against the law?
Why aren't the law-and-order politicians pushing to get whatever those laws were enforced? - Gullop, on 04/19/2008, -6/+1bahahahahaha
- sfacets, on 04/19/2008, -14/+2What is Irak - and why have we invaded it?
- derram, on 04/19/2008, -2/+21http://www.thefreedictionary.com/nitpicking
- deags, on 04/19/2008, -9/+4Irak is how the Americans PRONOUNCE it. You sound like idiots. Buoy, sound that word out, then think why you pronounce it the way you do?
- ralph12c41, on 04/19/2008, -13/+2The world loves digg...Irak.??..back in your cave
- Chip53, on 04/19/2008, -16/+1Buried as lame and also for bad spelling. No smiley face for you.
- yosserhughes, on 04/19/2008, -2/+32Quite amazing, a video by Bill Moyers explaining the lies that led to tens of thousands of deaths, and diggers freak out because the poster misspelled a word.
Fox would be proud of such a showing, forget the message, vilify the messenger.- Wartyboskfapped, on 04/19/2008, -1/+9It's much preferable to facing up to unpleasant truths.
- MorganKane, on 04/19/2008, -0/+9Thank you for pointing that out!
And greetings form yet another country, Norway; where it is spelled Irak.- yosserhughes, on 04/20/2008, -0/+0bare hyggelig
- yosserhughes, on 04/20/2008, -0/+0bare hyggelig
- darkamster07, on 04/19/2008, -0/+1it's just that we expect the outspoken people of our age (at least the ones with a good argument) to be on the ball
- COINTELPRO, on 04/19/2008, -0/+3Every country uses propaganda against its people, state control of the press...
In this country, you mysteriously lose your job and become unable to find one...- maybach, on 04/19/2008, -0/+2Yes but the American really are experts. The uninamity of the media on most issues is just incredible. The Iraq war for example - see how the propaganda system worked there? From the outside, witnessing the levels of indoctrination, and internalization of such ideas as American benevolence (!), the USA seems about as tightly controlled and disciplined as North Korea - really!
- HotSaucePanCake, on 04/19/2008, -2/+1a job isn't a right, deal with it, think about the other zillion people that have lived before you... if you aren't willing to try harder the more we will see you posting on digg
- emeraldclaw4, on 04/19/2008, -4/+15obviously all americans love this war and nascar.
I cant believe how amazing George Bush is.
Nascar is the most strenuous sport in existence. Iraq should be renamed: "George bush's super ***** awesome war of doom nextel cup tournament of death stadium"
it will be awesome because im american and i love war and guns and rape and oil its all the best i ate my own placenta after birth because im that raw and im american did i mention that im ameican and im a gun slinging cowboy and my sister looks cute to me omg i love run on sentences and sarcasm- darkamster07, on 04/19/2008, -0/+2my god i lol'd
- leexy, on 04/19/2008, -0/+1The one thing we can deduce for certain from your post is that logic is alien to you.
- emeraldclaw4, on 04/19/2008, -0/+0You are perfect in every way.
- willskillz, on 04/19/2008, -0/+2"George bush's super ***** awesome war of doom nextel cup tournament of death stadium" LOL, that's the funniest thing I've heard all week! +1 for you

http://digg.com/comedy/ABC_Debate_Parity_Funny- mal1964, on 04/20/2008, -0/+1I hope some know that i wasn't pushing the story, i was showing my poor spelling in the title like in this story.
PS it was a nice coincidence, but it didn't work.
- mal1964, on 04/20/2008, -0/+1I hope some know that i wasn't pushing the story, i was showing my poor spelling in the title like in this story.
- CodeCobalt, on 04/19/2008, -5/+5why is it that every foreigner thinks that literally EVERY American loves Bush and voted for him, think that every American is pro-war, think we're ignorant, etc etc. Hell 90% of the US is against the war, thinks that we don't need to win in Iraq to successfully fight terror (duh), Bush' approval rating has done nothing but sink. I honestly don't know how the hell he got into office once let alone twice.
Basically, rest of the world, WE KNOW WE ***** UP, the general population has known this for 6 years, with growing support ever since. So instead of assuming that all of us Americans love our situation, give your brother a hand and help us get out of this crap please.- Wartyboskfapped, on 04/19/2008, -0/+7Because we've done nothing about it.
- reignbow, on 04/19/2008, -0/+1I'd love to (and I hope my government thinks the same), but little will happen until you have a new president. Foreign policy against the president's worldview is pretty hard. The prevention of Iraq's descent into long-term chaos, keeping Iran from going nuclear and dealing with the financial impact of the Iraq conflict is an international problem that America's allies should feel concerned about. Here's hoping the new POTUS will be less willful and sulky!
- maybach, on 04/19/2008, -1/+3We were all telling you this before the war, and what were you saying then? It's going to happen again because of the dangerous basic American mindset of ignorance and fear, and the ease at which its population is controlled.
- CodeCobalt, on 04/19/2008, -0/+3There are plenty of Americans that did not want to go to war from the start, the approval rating of the war was never very high. Yea our news media is largely controlled. and a lot of blind sheep follow it. However some of us arn't so dimwitted.
- maybach, on 04/19/2008, -0/+2hope you were on the streets protesting it then
- CodeCobalt, on 04/19/2008, -0/+3There are plenty of Americans that did not want to go to war from the start, the approval rating of the war was never very high. Yea our news media is largely controlled. and a lot of blind sheep follow it. However some of us arn't so dimwitted.
- leexy, on 04/19/2008, -0/+5Good grief! The whole bloody world was shouting to you what you needed to hear from the rooftops. There were protests all over the globe with literally MILLIONS of people screaming from the top of their lungs that a war of aggression against Iraq will solve nothing. I should know, I was one of them.
So, no, Mr. CodeCobalt, this one will NOT be swept under the rug because one American deigns to mouth a "oops". Not in a time when Iran is talked about as next on the line. Not in a time when the leading Republican presidential candidate publicly says "bomb Iran!". Not when thousands and thousands of people have died. Not when a whole country was transformed into a terrorist safe haven for the benefit of a few fat cats. No, sir.
Look at the issues being talked about in this presidential race, and they'll tell you just how little the Americans have learned from their government using their money for the supreme crime. Those crimes were committed, not only in your name, but on your dime as well. And you know as well as I do that none in that trio (Clinton, McCain, Obama) will change US' foreign policy. They're all faces of the same coin. I know, I'm all over the place and come off as very emotive in this post, but I don't need none of your excuses; save them for the orphaned and maimed Iraqis.- UsablePuddle, on 04/19/2008, -2/+1"dont' need none"
Double negative, infers the positive.
But seriously its done and in the past, we have established that they "***** UP", what we need to concentrate now on is salvaging what we can, not moaning about what has been!

- hatdrop, on 04/19/2008, -0/+2"give your brother a hand and help us get out of this crap please."
not very american of you to ask for help, ironically thats what bush was saying the iraqi's were asking. no as americans it's our responsibility to fix our country. as one of the americans that was against the buildup for war i have no problem with the world thinking that americans on whole are stupid. it's the truth because our government wants the majority of our people to be stupid so they could more easily be manipulated. our inaction has given evidence of our stupidity.
the only way we can absolve the stigma WE ourselves created is to not allow further ***** to happen. how we react to our upcoming elections and the actions of whoever wins or steals the presidency will be the only way to prove that we are worthy to be treated as humans again rather than the sheep we are now. - emeraldclaw4, on 04/19/2008, -1/+1sing it sista!
- blackjack75, on 04/20/2008, -0/+2"hell 90% of the US is against the war, "
I am sorry but no. Only a handful of people protested the war. Even if not every american is pro-bush and pro-war you cannot deny that a lot of it totally accepted the story built by the white house and that the majority did nothing to prevent it from happening.
- mikelist, on 04/19/2008, -5/+0sbosed to be i-rack, this is the age of the intarwebs. english people still call it e-rock which is how i-rackees say it. they are in the wrong though, so we can call it watever we want.
my spelchkr just swoar at me. - usgovterrorists, on 04/19/2008, -6/+5The media spews the propaganda of the United States Government, for which they are well rewarded.
United States Government are terrorists, war criminals, and horrific liars.
9-11 was an inside job! 9-11 official story was a lie! What happened to building 7?
Depleted uranium is a weapon of mass destruction!
Play Wall Street like a PONZI SCHEME!
The elections are rigged, unsecure voting machines & ballots!- darkamster07, on 04/19/2008, -1/+2the one hole that "truthers" never explain: if the US gov could pull off such an intricate scheme, why would they ***** up so much when it came to what they actually wanted: the iraq war.
the war is completely wrong on so many levels, but it could have been successful- hatdrop, on 04/19/2008, -0/+2how have they ***** up? all their goals are achieved, they're in iraq and afghanistan and most likely we're going into iran whether or not the american people want to. the only way their plan would be ***** would be if they get arrested and executed as the war criminals they are. no matter who is in office their companies will get the contracts and they will be able to both earn billions in profits and affect US foreign policy while the government and the american people will suffer at the debt they created.
the company enron failed and all the employees got the shaft, but the big wiggs at top made millions if not billions. same thing is gonna happen to them America will get the shaft but they'll make money like no other.
sounds like a huge success to me, make money while footing other people with the bill.

- catachip, on 04/19/2008, -8/+2Buried for "Irak" (used for whatever reason, intentional or not) and for calling them our "beloved leaders" WTF? Bush has an approval rating in the mid 20s, historic lows for any President.
Also, most Americans already know the war was a huge mistake, Over 60% want to get out now. We're going to choose a President on this issue. This might have been applicable in the 2004 election, but, nothing new now. In fact, this documentary is a year old - I remember watching on PBS. Sorry, just my 2 cents.- TheInformer, on 04/19/2008, -3/+0A historic low indeed, just like the 11% approval rating of our current Democratically controlled Congress.
- catachip, on 04/19/2008, -0/+2More evidence that our leaders are not "beloved".
- leexy, on 04/19/2008, -0/+3The American people REELECTED Bush AFTER the invasion!
Did you somehow forget that?

- Wartyboskfapped, on 04/19/2008, -4/+8Americans schooling others on spelling, geography and how to talk properly is so massive a density of irony I'm amazed they haven't been sucked into a black hole of their own ignorance. Like you ***** have never made a mistake in your lives? Grow up, look past the pissy little details, and see the big picture. Arrogant ***** assholes.
- catachip, on 04/19/2008, -1/+2Digg users are far more likely to be University educated. I don't wish to be painted with the brush of all the ignorant folks in this country, thank you very much. So, in that regard, I think most people are valid in their criticism of such a blatant error. The original poster is from the UK, not from Turkey or Germany. I would hope that, since he lives in an English-speaking country, is able to compose an otherwise intelligible title and description (and hundreds other, according to his post history), he would be able to spell the world correctly.
We're scrapping over petty details at this point, though, I agree. - HotSaucePanCake, on 04/19/2008, -1/+2Pot Kettle Black?
- emeraldclaw4, on 04/19/2008, -1/+1I think the British are still salty over loosing the colonies.

- funkywood, on 04/19/2008, -2/+19This rather says it all. This a serious video of why the USA is ***** because it's run by a press who puts sensationalism and politics above integrity and truth. Getting rid of Bush won't solve that. But what are you going on about? The difference in spelling of a pissing word!
I thought diggers were a more intelligent subset but it seems they're perfectly representative of the dumb soundbite idiots that the media are now expert at catering to.- HotSaucePanCake, on 04/19/2008, -7/+0Hey thats cool but your a foreigner so WE don't care, seriously.

- youareretarded, on 04/19/2008, -0/+3I think people are avoiding the issue at hand and focusing on the spelling of iraq because they realize they fell for this ***** without doing any critical thinking of their own.
They, like the press, feel embarrassed that they got duped by this administration!
But hey, it's not like they can learn from their mistakes, right? It's not like history ever repeats itself, right?

"Irak? Yes, if one doesn't speak American English", is probably what you were trying to get across, as opposed to "Irak? Here, one speaks English". My French may be failing me, but your sentence probably could've been worded better. - blackjack75, on 04/20/2008, -0/+1Huh.. that's exactly what he said. "Here one has to speak english". Goes to show how ridiculous the press is of america is when the majority of them believed bush's spin of the so called existent weapons of mass destruction.
The reasons given to american public and press from the bush administration for going to war were wrong
The vast majority of press got it wrong by not highlighting or being scared to highlight what us in the rest of the world knew
Iraq did not have wmd nor was it involved in 9/11
All all you americans seems concerned about is how iraq is spelled!
Shame on you -
