Israel's Secret Weapon (BBC) as revealed by Mordechai Vanunu watch!
youtube.com — I am Mordechai Vanunu, the man who told the truth about Israel's Nuclear Weapons Program in 1986 and paid with 18 years of my life in an Israeli Prison. On July 8 I will return to court, to appeal a new 6 months prison sentence for speaking to foreign Media. I am asking the Media to report on my case and the efforts in Norway to grant me asylum.

- alkajazz, on 07/08/2008, -3/+14Criticizing Israel is anti-israel?

- alkajazz, on 07/08/2008, -3/+14Criticizing Israel is anti-israel?
- Fangsinmybeard, on 07/07/2008, -29/+72Ya know, this explains a lot about the past 40 some odd years of Israeli behavior. The reason they act as if they are now the new Soviet Union is due to their confidence that they own nuclear weapons and no one dares to really impose sanctions. If other countries start to call them on the carpet, they just threaten to explode a nuke in the respective country or threaten to launch to get other countries to back down. No one wants to make a suicidal maniac carry out global annihilation threat. Israel knows that the U.S. and Russia have hair trigger launch capability. All the have to do is threaten global annihilation to cow any criticism of human rights violations to get their way. The Nazi hardliner leaders of Israel are holding the world hostage.
- jamessavik, on 07/08/2008, -12/+18No- it doesn't.
The Soviets didn't mind anyone knowing that they had nukes. Israel has kept it a closely guarded secret.
They have never threatened to nuke anyone, nor have they stated a nuclear policy.
Vanunu got in trouble for disclosing state secrets which will get you in trouble anywhere- and shot in most places.- renagadex2, on 07/08/2008, -1/+2(digg bias, you should have more diggs than the OP)
- flogistan, on 07/08/2008, -4/+3Not shot. What he did was not on the level of what Julius and Ethel Rosenberg did. It's a whole different thing. The Rosenbergs were literally trying to get everyone in the united states killed, and nearly did. Only a police state like israel would think about shooting a dissident like this.
- acrodev, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1You're kidding. You still think the Rosenbergs were guilty because you read it in a 6th grade textbook? How did they try and kill everyone? By being framed by David Greenglass?
And besides, the only thing worse than the Russians having nukes was the prospect of the US being the only country with them. With great power usually comes great corruption.
- Bennist, on 07/08/2008, -14/+16Do you want to provide an example as to when Israel has ever threatened another country with nuclear weapons? The main reason Israel has worked to become a nuclear power is to keep its Arab enemies from carrying out the attacks they are constantly threatened with, not to carry out any nuclear offensive like you are implying.
- flogistan, on 07/08/2008, -5/+6If you have them, why do you need to verbalize a threat? Making them is the threat.
- Bennist, on 07/08/2008, -4/+4Making them is the threat? I think you have failed to realize that Israel tried to make its nuclear capabilities a secret.
Definitely not the motive for any threat. - blackjack75, on 07/08/2008, -2/+6Keeping them secret is what frightens me. If you want to use it as a detterrent for any attacker then you publicize it strongly. You tell everyone "don't attack because we have nukes". And in that sense I don't deny the right of any country, be it Israel or Iran to build them.
I am one of those who believe the nuclear threat what was actually prevented WW3. If both Israel and Iran get their nukes I think we'll get a lasting peace (or a very short war if you're of the pessimistic kind). - Qong, on 07/08/2008, -1/+1Why would Iran need nuclear weapons for their to be a peace? I don't understand the reasoning behind that at all.
If the good side has nuclear weapons, then that is all the deterrent that is needed in my opinion. - acrodev, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1The reason Israel can't admit to having them is probably because of where they got them from. Cough. Cough.
- dkapuchino, on 07/08/2008, -12/+6Israel's enemies (Syria, Iraq up until 2003, Iran) all have enough Chemical and biological weapons to completely wipe out Israel (And the Palestinian terror-tories in the process). The only reason Israel has ever sought nuclear weapons is for self defense.
24 diggs for your stupid comment?
What has become of this site.- medfreak, on 07/08/2008, -2/+13What a load of *****. Just like Iraq was found not to have WMDs, so is syria and iran. While Isr-terro-rael possesses nuclear weapons, no other nation in the vicintiy has anything near the capacity to cause immense devastation. Eventually all it will lead to is a Nuclear race and possible a nuclear war in the region.
If Iran ever gets nukes, they would get it for ***** like this:
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/articl ... - warsongs7, on 07/08/2008, -6/+5He deserves the 31+ diggs for exposing the truth to some of you narrow-minded, *****-up ignorant cows who have noting other than your own interests at heart. The creation of Israel was nothing other than the Britain's initiative to create even more tension in the already turbulent Middle-East region. Israel and Iraq are now the only stable handhold that the US and UK have on the region. While Iran seems to be the only country in the region to openly show their views of the situation; and for that they are going to get bombed.
Secondly, nothing has 'become of this sight' because Digg seems to be one of the sources for open speech and opinions on the internet but due to its rising popularity probably won't remain so for long. - blackjack75, on 07/08/2008, -4/+1If Israel's ennemies had enough weapons, I am pretty sure they would indeed have used them. As far as I know, they didn't (since the 70's when they got their ass kicked).

- Goldkill, on 07/08/2008, -4/+2I despise Israel as much as any right-thinking person but the fact is, Israel doesn't admit to having nukes and so it's hard to see how that argument stacks up.
- WTFppl, on 07/08/2008, -0/+4It stacks up when Israel says they don't have nuclear weapon making equipment/possiblities. Than kick all the IAEA and the US energy & weeapons inspectors out of Israel within a six hour period in 1987!

- jamessavik, on 07/08/2008, -12/+18No- it doesn't.
- nojingoist, on 07/07/2008, -16/+99The official line goes like this: Israel is a peace-loving country that acts "rational." Iran is a terrorist-sponsoring state of fundamentalist "crazies," and therefore must be stopped from obtaining nuclear weapons.
Those two sentences encompass the entire argument from the US and Israel. No matter what facts one presents about Israeli atrocities against the Palestinians or Lebanese, no matter how eloquently one explains the imperialistic and murderous history of the US and Israel, the King will always reply: "We" are peace-loving and rational. "They" are terrorists.- wild, on 07/08/2008, -2/+3By king did you mean Bush?
- urgeigh, on 07/08/2008, -2/+22We've been supporting Israel long before Bush was President and will be long after he's gone.. Presidents are so overrated.

- jamessavik, on 07/08/2008, -18/+10Israel doesn't run anything that could ever be mistaken for Hezbollah nor have her leaders ever threatened to nuke anyone.
- num3thod, on 07/08/2008, -1/+6That wasn't his point. Reread.
- blackjack75, on 07/08/2008, -2/+3Who should you fear the most? Hopeless people threatening to nuke while having no means to do so or "reasonable" people who actually build the nukes... just in case.

- Hangly, on 07/08/2008, -11/+14onetimer, let's have some kind of meeting of the minds here. I'm sure you're a swell guy who just loves his country, and I admire that. In a social setting you and I might even get along pretty well.
I can't speak for anyone else here, but I want you to know that I don't hate Israel and I don't hate the Jewish people. I have seen Fiddler on the Roof about fifty times and I know all the songs by heart.
I have no problem with Israel either. I am wary of your government, though. This is strictly politics, nothing more.
For what it's worth, I'm just as wary of my own government.- onetimer, on 07/08/2008, -11/+23What the *****? Ok, let's sort some things out.
1) This user "sixsixtimer" is not me and simply a troll trying to impersonate me, and makes racist posts in attempt to make people like you think i'm a racist.
2) I am not a citizen of israel. I have never *visted* israel. I am not a "zionist", "chosen one", or whatever BS people assume about me here just because I use the SOD as my avatar. - sixsixsixtimer, on 07/08/2008, -25/+31) I am not trying to impersonate you and make racist posts.
2) I am not a citizen of Israel either, but as a devout Jew, I feel much sympathy and a spiritual connection to that nation. Do you not hurt on the inside every time Israelis die in terrorist attacks? - Hangly, on 07/08/2008, -8/+13Can you sort these out for me too?
1) Why do you use the SOD as your avatar if you know it confuses people?
2) Why are you angry? I'm not attacking you. - sixsixsixtimer, on 07/08/2008, -19/+11) Is only one person of the Judaic faith allowed to use the SOD on Digg?
2) I am not angry. - onetimer, on 07/08/2008, -7/+211) Why should I NOT use it? Just because some ignorant and/or bigoted assholes associate a centuries old symbol with a 60 year old country, doesn't mean I should capitulate. What if I assumed that everyone with the crescent moon and star was a rabid hamas supporting palestinian? Same mistake and just as ignorant, but you don't see it on digg because it's not acceptable like the fallacious SOD/zionist conflation.
2) I'm not angry. I don't think i've ever been angry using digg. Who gives a ***** what some idiots say on the internet? - Rabbit63, on 07/08/2008, -14/+81666timer either you are just being funny or you think we are all as stupid as Herky or something.
- sixsixsixtimer, on 07/08/2008, -22/+01) You have every right to use it as well, but the SOD is what makes up the Israeli flag. Maybe Onetimer doesn't care for Israel, but I do.

Spoofing? It is kind of obvious that I am not Onetimer. - sixsixsixtimer, on 07/08/2008, -9/+1I think we have found out who the Dstat troll reincarnated as: MarkusGarvey.
- MarkusGarvey, on 07/08/2008, -1/+14666...reincarnated?...i have had this account since 1/06...from the TOS...
1. to abuse, harass, threaten, impersonate or intimidate other Digg users;
11. attempt to impersonate another user or person;
I'm quite sure everyone here agrees... - sixsixsixtimer, on 07/08/2008, -10/+01. I haven't done any of point number one.
11. The evidence of impersonation is circumstantial. Why are you worried about it wittle twoofer? - MarkusGarvey, on 07/08/2008, -2/+12circumstantial...my shinny metal ass...and why am i worried?...you contribute nothing to the topic, you get deleted, and when you come back you just keep doing the same *****...pick a side...why do you want to fight all of us?...i think you really need to see a shrink dude...
- sixsixsixtimer, on 07/08/2008, -11/+0I am not fighting all, just you stupid troofers. I don't know why Onetimer is getting so upset.
- Hangly, on 07/08/2008, -4/+15Just for everyone's information, causing a thread to degenerate into childish bickering is a tried and true propaganda tool.
That's why the agents provocateurs are always so personally offensive, so they can derail the topic and prevent any meaningful discussion from taking place.
This thread is now *****. Score one for the NWO. Don't fall for it next time. - KennMac, on 07/08/2008, -2/+13I just microwaved some popcorn specifically for this thread...
Do continue. - stabbingkittens, on 07/08/2008, -1/+7Your religion is about love yet you feel you must hate to defend it.

There is one question I'd really love to ask:
Is there a place for the hopeless sinner,
Who has hurt all mankind just to save his own beliefs? - GhostyBoy, on 07/08/2008, -0/+7Wow, this thread is beyond salvation.
Guys can you just stop before you implode digg? - blackjack75, on 07/08/2008, -1/+10This thread looks like it's been designed by the same people who designed the peace plans for the Middle East.
- Hangly, on 07/08/2008, -1/+7Also, sixsixsixtimer, if you really are one of the good guys...
I think provoking the provocateurs is a very clever idea, but I do not believe it will produce the results you want. There's no need for us to engage in propaganda techniques. The facts are on our side, and the opposition knows it. The best way to persuade people is to present the facts in as chillax a manner as possible and not't let the provocateurs get under your skin.
Perhaps it's easier for me to not lose my cool because I *know* they're trying to provoke an angry response from me, and I also know it aggravates them when I don't give them one.
Just meditate on the walrus. The walrus doesn't give a *****. The walrus is badass and he knows it. All the walrus has to do to kill you is roll over, but the walrus can't even be bothered to care. All the walrus does all day is sit on the beach being his fatass self and not giving a ***** because he knows he rules. - reed311, on 07/08/2008, -5/+2Oh, you poor thing, you actually think there are people that are paid to spread information on such an insignificant website such as Digg.

- neko6, on 07/08/2008, -3/+4According to a recent poll, 77% of Israeli Arab-Muslims would rather live in Israel than any other country. Guess they love that "non democracy"...
- medfreak, on 07/08/2008, -1/+3The vast majority of Palestinians in refugee camps from 1948 would rather go back to their homes lost in Israel as well. The reason has nothing to do with democracy, but because it is their country and their land that they refuse to abandon.
In addition, comparing an economically embargoed region such as the West Bank under constant siege and occupation to the country that receives the largest amount of external aid in the world is erroneous.
One of the main laws set against Israeli Muslims / Arabs is the law that prevents them from giving an Israeli citizenship to a married couple if the husband / wife is a Palestinian. Yet an Israeli Jew may immigrate to Israel just for being Jewish, let alone he can marry any person on earth and bring him / her to Israel. Their justification for this? To maintain Israel as a Jewish state, which is the reality. Israel is not a secular or a democratic state, it is a Jewish state first and foremost.
That is the problem with short sighted people that take polls at face value, they never bother to consider the context. - eShinn, on 07/14/2008, -0/+1@neko6 : What recent polls?!? You keep spewing numbers, but don't give any links.

- Tyrghast, on 07/08/2008, -12/+33I was gonna make a derogatory comment about Israel, about how it's formation displaced a great deal of native people and led to 50+ years of bloodshed during the 20th century, and that this is typically what happened in the middle east and africa (european countries drawing borders without regard to the native people's governments, trapping warring factions within borders that they previously crossed freely), the result being a ***** of problems for everyone on either side of the conflicts. But I'm going to be buried simply for opening my mouth.

Of course, if this guy is the reason everyone's know for 20 years, that's a different story.- ZenMojo, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2It's called an open secret for a reason. Government wants the ambiguity to deter attacks but not the verification to actually be called on it.
- eShinn, on 07/14/2008, -0/+1I call it "Branching the Truth".
You have someone who spilled your beans, and there's no way its going to go away although you want it to go away. What do you do?
1. Have someone higher-up in the media paid to suggest an investigation into Israel.
2. When the media arrives (honestly believing they're bringing out the truth), feed them people who pretend to "wish" to help them.
"I wish I could help you but I was told if I told you anything I would be imprisoned - but I'll agree to tell you why I'm declining on camera." - If they were the real ones being threatened, do you think they would even say the two-letter word "no"? Have you ever seen that before? You know how people decline to speak to the media; they make a run for it and then close their doors.
They mentioned the 'honey-story' to get to Vanunu. And the honey could just as easily be Vanunu's lawyer as well as others. Everyone who seemed smug in giving you 'the real scoop' or others that seems overly ambiguous seemed as if they were acting out the part.
They do that to build up the BBC's trust in its viewers. Once that's accomplished they divert your attention and interest to where THEY want it to be. "...the man hidden in the shadows of the government is THIS man... and HERE's where the facility is for making all the bombs". - its very much a squirrel waiving its big, fluffy tail to misdirect any would be attacks or investigations.
I should also point out that I'm not saying "This is how it is", this is only my 'hunch', my gut-feeling. I don't have any proof to back any of my thoughts ... but then isn't that the point?
- eShinn, on 07/14/2008, -0/+1I call it "Branching the Truth".
- ZenMojo, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2It's called an open secret for a reason. Government wants the ambiguity to deter attacks but not the verification to actually be called on it.
- crypto55, on 07/08/2008, -11/+16You act like Israel acted outside of international norms. There is no other country that would allow such a security breach to go unheeded, and unpunished. National defense is sacrosanct, in America, in Europe, in Israel, anywhere. Harsh punishments are not unheard of, nor are they rare when they are in relation to this kind of espionage. Outrage for Israel's action are perhaps compassionate, but not pragmatic. Security for nuclear weapons is no joking matter, and nations don't let this kind of thing happen lightly.
- medfreak, on 07/08/2008, -0/+6Keeping your Nuclear activities a secret to the world is no joke either.
- waspbr, on 07/08/2008, -0/+5sorry but there's no excuse for stock piling nuclear, chemical and biological weapons
- subtleone, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2Yeah, unless you are the united states, in which case it is in the best interest of the world to have enough nuclear explosives to kill every person in the world.
- WTFppl, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2I like your take on the issue...Having morals, being truthful and feeling shame for continuing a lie is equal to espionage?
Answering to Israel for espionage while asking the world for forgiveness for harboring a lie..."No good deed goes unpunished", I think I read that in a book some where!
- frogstomp19, on 07/08/2008, -18/+12what's up with the BBC's blatant anti-Israel bias? for a (generally) reputable news outlet, they're certainly not providing both sides of the story...
- yonoz, on 07/08/2008, -3/+4Look up the Balen report.
- blackjack75, on 07/08/2008, -3/+10The BBC has always adopted a policy of strong criticism and that's not specific to Israel. Given the amount of other media, especially in the US, that are so blindly pro-Israel, I think that is a rather welcome balance.
- neko6, on 07/08/2008, -2/+3The bias is evident and extreme - if you compare their stories about Israeli actions to stories about UK actions, you easily see the bias.
One example I remember clearly:
600 Afghans died in a single joint US/UK strike. The headline? "Allied forces shell Afghanistan". Percent of lines in story referring to the dead: 5%.
13 Palestinians died in an Israeli strike. The headline? "Israel kills 13 Palestinians". Percent of lines in story referring to the dead? 95%.
- neko6, on 07/08/2008, -2/+3The bias is evident and extreme - if you compare their stories about Israeli actions to stories about UK actions, you easily see the bias.
- jamessavik, on 07/08/2008, -9/+9Think it through carefully:

Who does not have them but has threatened to use them when they do have them?- blackjack75, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1So you're more afraid of a drunk man in the bar shouting that he will kill everyone with his bare hands rather than the man in black in the corner who keeps silent but actually is hiding a shotgun under his coat.

Dear submitter, if you put BBC at the end it would make more sense. Let me show you what I mean by using (MY PENIS) instead of (BBC) in your title:
Israel's Secret Weapon (MY PENIS) As Revealed By Mordechai Vanunu.
See?- Hangly, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1I think it might be an abbreviation for Bacteriological, Biological and Chemical, or something like that.
- blackjack75, on 07/08/2008, -0/+4The most fascinating part about Israel's nuclear weapons is that they _NEVER_ tested them. All the other secondary nuclear powers out there at least threw out a few (Pakistan, India...). You might remember the french under Chirac a few years ago tested theirs because they couldn't be certain of their efficiency with only computer simulation.
Since Israel's government is so much into deception.. could the "secret in the secret" (as the lawyer said) be that the nuclear program wasn't viable and that their bombs might as well not work well?- waspbr, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1that is not necessarily true, we do not know if they have been tests or not. itś not like they will be advertising the testing of their uber secrect nuclear weapons program. besides israel's actions have been protected by the US, as the video shows, the pentagon spokesman is not in liberty of talking about any issues concerning israel, it is very possible that there have been tests but israel and US have kept it under cover.
Just in the 1960s the US conducted a series of stratospheric nuclear tests and no one was the wiser until the files have been disclosed- solid12345, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2Except US did such tests in the desert where no one were to see them and radiation would be contained in the middle of nowhere. Israel is a country the size of Rhode Island how could anyone not notice a test?
- waspbr, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1Not only in the desert, they did a few over south america for example, over the SAA (South Atlantic anomaly) as far as I know that is over populated areas, luckly there haven't been any affects a that height, but this is not the issue.
Israel could very well use submarines to transport nukes to test sites all over the world, remote islands on the pacific have seen more of their fair share of nuclear tests. Another possibility is that it may have conducted stratospheric tests, but that is less likely.
Not saying that it happened, I am saying that it is possible
- linas199, on 07/08/2008, -0/+5The US tested for them...
- FrankHope, on 07/08/2008, -0/+4Probably South Africa tested Israel's nukes for them. When Apartheid South Africa had a nuclear program, Israel was a close ally.
"A flash over the Indian Ocean detected by an American satellite in September 1979 was suspected of being a nuclear test, possibly conducted by either Israel or South Africa, alone or in combination."

- yellowcakewalk, on 07/08/2008, -1/+10Vanunu also makes allegations about Mossad snuffing JFK
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kennedy_assassination ...
This theory alleges that the Israeli government was displeased with Kennedy for his pressure against their pursuit of a top-secret nuclear program at the Negev Nuclear Research Center (commonly called "Dimona")[86] or the Israelis were angry over Kennedy's sympathies with Arabs and his use of men formerly under the employment of the Nazis in their rocket program, such as Wernher von Braun.[87] Gangster Meyer Lansky [88] and Lyndon B. Johnson often play pivotal roles in this conspiracy theory as organizing and preparing the hit, thus bleeding into and possibly catalyzing many of the other conspiracies as well.[87]
In July 2004 Israel’s nuclear whistleblower Mordechai Vanunu claimed in the London-based Al-Hayat newspaper that the state of Israel was complicit in the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Vanunu, a former technician at the Dimona plant who was jailed for 18 years for revealing its inner workings to Britain’s Sunday Times in 1986, made the statement after his 2004 release. He claimed there were “near-certain indications” Kennedy was assassinated in response to “pressure he exerted on Israel’s then head of government, David Ben-Gurion, to shed light on Dimona’s nuclear reactor.”[89]- Hangly, on 07/08/2008, -0/+3I don't know that there's a clear-cut difference anymore between the Mossad and the CIA.
