LaVena J.: Murdered By Her Colleagues, Ignored By The Army

jezebel.com — She enlisted in the Army right out of high school in 2003 and was sent to Iraq, where she died. When the Army returned her mutilated body to her grieving parents as a suicide, her dad, Dr. John Johnson said to himself and the Army coroner, "Somebody murdered my daughter."

    On the other hand, I'm frightened that if it is greatly dugg, the trogs will commence commenting on how "bitches don't belong in the military", a la the Salon article commentators.
    So, to pre-empt: This isn't about whether women do or do not belong in the military. This about the women who are already there, and who are _not_ treated like comrades that put their lives on the line to defend their fellow troops and country, but are instead treated worse than animals.
    And, in this instance, beaten up, mutilated, possibly raped, burned with acid, shot in the head and reported dead as a "suicide."

AS LONG AS WE KEEP SAYING THAT IT DOESN'T EXIST, IT WILL CONTINUE TO HAPPEN. WE WILL CONTINUE TO LIVE OUR LIVES WITH BLINDERS ON. WE NEED TO ALL LEARN HOW TO THINK FOR OURSELVES AND SPEAK UP AND MAKE SURE THAT CHANGES TAKE PLACE. LET'S NOT LET SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN TO ANOTHER HUMAN BEING IRREGARDLESS OF RACE, AGE, SEX OR GENDER; IT'S HAPPENING TO YOUTH, GAYS, ELDERLY - MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN OF ALL COLORS. LET'S BRING IT TO AN END BEFORE IT HAPPENS TO SOMEONE THAT YOU CARE ABOUT AND LOVE
