Fanatical America. How does it make you feel to be terrorists? =) - Mikecol, on 11/11/2007, -1/+6It makes me feel terrible.
- iticu, on 11/12/2007, -6/+12The motive isn't Religion. Religion is just a tool to make people want to do it.
- khatarnaak, on 11/13/2007, -5/+52Bush dragged religion into it when he said:
"I’m driven with a mission from God. God would tell me, “George, go and fight those terrorists in Afghanistan.” And I did, and then God would tell me, “George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq …” And I did. And now, again, I feel God’s words coming to me, “Go get the Palestinians their state and get the Israelis their security, and get peace in the Middle East.” And by God I’m gonna do it.’”"
Source: http://playahata.com/hatablog/?p=942- WaltDismal, on 11/11/2007, -3/+11Bush is proof there is no god.
- sophiaperennis, on 11/11/2007, -3/+9Bush is in no way a representative for the christian religion. He is the presidential representative for the sovereign nation of the United States of America, nothing more, and nothing less. You're making a non-sequitur here. Religion is not responsible for what G.W. Bush's convictions are for waging a war on false pretense.
- hobowithshotgun, on 11/11/2007, -3/+1I thought George Bush was a reptilian shape shifter???

- TritonX, on 11/11/2007, -0/+11What about the soldiers that fought on the german side during WWII, do they get a chance at heaven too?
- unreg, on 11/11/2007, -3/+5Yes if you believe God forgive all sins
- migvel, on 11/12/2007, -1/+7Well, they thought they were doing the right thing... so, maybe
- bruenig, on 11/12/2007, -2/+7So god's standard is relative to what is in your mind when you act? So deranged nutjobs who think they are doing the right thing are included? Therefore hitler is in heaven because he thought he was doing the right thing by executing 6 million people?

- aburd, on 11/13/2007, -112/+258You know, I don't like Bush. Really I don't, but these people have sacrificed as nearly as much as they possibly can for their country . Bush went to visit them because he should. Some of them looked legitimately thrilled to see him.
To use this moment of joy from these tortured souls' lives in order to score a cheap shot against Bush is just gross. Honestly, this is the guy you are using to get a cheap laugh:
http://i.today.reuters.com/pictures/galleries/Stor ...- digichris, on 11/13/2007, -43/+236No - pictures of these disfigured men standing next to the person that sent them into harms way, is gross.
- twomeyw23334, on 11/12/2007, -73/+20Nobody likes war but comments like that are illogical. Have you ever seen severely burned firemen? Is the town mayor an evil pig for hiring these people, is the radio dispatch person "gross" for sending them into harms way? Obviously war is bad, but so isn't standing by idly while bad things go on around us. The debate is and will always be about when and where the point is that we get involved or we let evil / bad happen, but to make overgeneralized anti-war statements is pretty ridiculous.
- Nougat, on 11/13/2007, -10/+91When's the last time you heard about entire industrial sectors bathing in profit due to an increase in fires that need to be put out?
- blackinthmiddle, on 11/12/2007, -6/+40Are you really comparing a war based on, to put it best - dubious terms - to a necessary service to society? And if you honestly want to say that "liberating iraqis" aka - "lining my cronies pockets" is serving the US then you're lost...period!
- procopio, on 11/11/2007, -7/+29Oh, good! Compare firemen saving lives w/ kids going to fight "evil" on Iraq and getting all *****'d up.
- GiggleStick, on 11/11/2007, -26/+5@procopio
So, the people that ACTUALLY planted the IEDs that did this to these Marines & soldiers aren't evil? I presume that's why you put "evil" in quotes. - bitcloud, on 11/11/2007, -2/+19War is evil...
promoting war is inherently evil. You have the right to self defense, in the most humane way possible when it's ABSOLUTELY necessary, justified and unavoidable...
So yes... There are those who are evil on one side who are blowing up soldiers... then there are those on the other side who say "enough of you assholes killing each other". (to labour the point, i'm saying "us vs them" is the peaceful vs the warmongers on both sides) - arbulus, on 11/13/2007, -5/+43No, you're comparison doesn't make sense.
Say the mayor set fires around town, in especially difficult places like tire factories and oil refineries, just so he would have an excuse to send the firefighters to put out a fire. The reason the mayor did this: he has friends who would profit like crazy from rebuilding and reconstruction of these facilities, and he can make sure they are the ones who are hired to do that rebuilding. But he doesn't tell the public about that. He lies to the media and says that there's a gang war in town and that the Bloods are starting fires to show how much they hate the city. However, in the process, the mayor ends up killing most of the employees of these factories and refineries by starting the fires and in the process of trying to put out the fires, many firefighters are horribly injured or disfigured.
That is the accurate analogy. - Audacitor, on 11/11/2007, -1/+12@arbulus:
That is one killer analogy. Kudos to you, good sir. - Dorkchop, on 11/11/2007, -4/+7@GiggleStick
The people who planted those IEDs are no more evil than the people killing their friends and family on a daily basis (us). The "terrorists" in Iraq are not Al Qaeda, they are Iraqis who are fed up with our occupation. Yes, it's an occupation, not a war. - Beveridge89, on 11/11/2007, -3/+2Well, then if the soldiers are evil, do they deserve our sympathies?
You want to know who goes around deliberately killing civilians? It sure as hell isnt the coalition forces. Its the same guys who plant the IEDs. But yeh, their not terrorists.
- spyd3rweb, on 11/13/2007, -13/+47comparing a fire to war is just idiotic.
- connormcmenamin, on 11/11/2007, -35/+11i'm far from supporting war, especially this one. but it was their own choice to join the military.
- DFrag, on 11/11/2007, -10/+40Sigh. Many were in before they knew the President is an insane, mass murdering, madman. Stop generalizing about something you know nothing about. It's insulting to the troops and us parents who have to worry about them. Most of them and us don't support the president or his god forsaken war for profit.
- bugsy187, on 11/11/2007, -2/+20It's true that these men are accountable for their actions, but who deserves to be disfigured like this?
- thcobbs, on 11/11/2007, -18/+10@DFrag
"Many were in before they knew the President is an insane, mass murdering, madman."
"Stop generalizing about something you know nothing about."
Take your own advice - bitcloud, on 11/11/2007, -4/+9@dfrag:
You're also required to disobey any illegal orders. - elias, on 11/11/2007, -6/+91st things 1st am in the military ...and i dont think this war is right, but i will still go to fight this war cause i might not be a lot of things but am a man of my word.....
2nd thing @ bitcloud
"disobey any illegal orders." = any thing that goes against LOAC.
for the most part going to war cause the president tells you to isn't a illegal order.
3rd and last thing ....using these images to take a cheap shot at bush is sick, and uncalled ... - MisteryMeat, on 11/11/2007, -0/+5Maybe I'm wrong but I'm not seeing this as a cheap shot at Bush. I'm surprised he has the gonads to meet the victims of his war face to face. Hopefully getting a small dose of the reality of war will make him think twice about keeping troops in Iraq or about invading Iran.
- Alegoo92, on 11/11/2007, -10/+30These people weren't sent away. It's terrible what they've lost but Bush is coming as a respectful person to see some of the strongest army heroes- not as their hypocritical tormentor.
- b8k3d, on 11/11/2007, -4/+4Finally, someone with some sense. Thank you.
- natey14, on 11/11/2007, -10/+9When you join the army you choose to serve the American government. You sign a contract and you do what they say. They made their choice and while yes war is grim, they chose to join the Army and with it comes the possibility of war.
- CrackIsWack, on 11/11/2007, -0/+2Why is natey14 getting dugg down for stating a fact?
- goldfishey, on 11/11/2007, -0/+9wouldnt it be worse - if he sent them into harms way, and then simply ignored their existence?
- hellotyler, on 11/10/2007, -1/+2A laugh ? I don't know what kind of sadistic bastards you take people for, but that certainly is not the case.
- twomeyw23334, on 11/12/2007, -73/+20Nobody likes war but comments like that are illogical. Have you ever seen severely burned firemen? - toastjam, on 11/13/2007, -11/+149Who says we're laughing?
- OneLess, on 11/11/2007, -8/+34Exactly, no one here is laughing unless they're sicker ***** than the ones who started this war.
- Apoc04, on 11/20/2007, -0/+1agreed, I am a 21 year old dude and these pictures literally made me want to cry. That may be very "feminine" but the way i see it is, that could have been me if i chose to join the military. There is nothing we can do for these people except pay our extreme gratitude and try to our best to prevent more of this. Impeach These dick heads. RON PAUL 08
- virtualmadden, on 11/11/2007, -26/+9Your right. I'm sure a lot of soldiers with injuries have issues with Bush, but he does still hold that "celebrity" status. At least he has the balls to show up and spend some time with these people. I wonder when was the last time a lot of people went and helped out others on their free time or at all. I know that I need to.
- DonKarnage25, on 11/11/2007, -4/+18So.. how exactly did he help them? By gracing them with his presence?
- trogdoor, on 11/11/2007, -3/+7Ignore the fact that it's bush for a second and realize that they probably do respect him. Do you think that being visited by the president of the United States means nothing to them?
- Audacitor, on 11/11/2007, -3/+6@trogdoor:
If I were visited by the current president, I wouldn't consider it anything special. That man deserves no respect for what he has done as our "leader".
- sealhands, on 11/11/2007, -5/+10its not on his free time, hes working -- as the ***** president. its his responsibility to be there, not only that but a valuable public relations stunt that benefits his image. (it worked on you obviously). you should join the military if you think a t-shirt from the president is worth your limbs.
- DonKarnage25, on 11/11/2007, -4/+18So.. how exactly did he help them? By gracing them with his presence?
- procopio, on 11/13/2007, -8/+67I'm not laughing. Bush is the one w/ the grin smile on his face.

/godwin - sealhands, on 11/11/2007, -16/+13who the hell dugg you up?
- RegalGSX, on 11/11/2007, -6/+10The 24%
- trippytree, on 11/11/2007, -3/+1the one who dugg u down
- desqjockey, on 11/11/2007, -4/+20I dont get it- theres no real commentary to this point. The images are so graphic (cause + effect) they speak for themselves. If you dont like what they are saying, well reality does have a well known left wing bias.
- agarwaengrc, on 11/11/2007, -3/+11You know, the point is, is there something to justify what happened to these men? Was it worth it? NOTHING but immininent loss of freedom can justify ANY war. Where's the danger exactly?? Where's the threat for America that this war countered?? For starters is the terrorist threat so great, and then, did this war do anything to face it head on?? Did the US send commando groups with licence to kill from local goverments, to take out terrorist groups? No, the goverment turned this into a vague cultural war with a vague muslim enemy, and made war with another country. These men will be tortured for life for NOTHING (ok, maybe so the upper class can get a little richer) and that's the most unfair, the saddest, the most furiating thing I have ever seen. I cannot even grasp how brain-washed and scared you must be to think that this is justified.
- dougalzene, on 11/11/2007, -4/+4I agree. I hate the approach the Bush administration took and the decisions they made however it is becoming more tiring to see this daily onslaught of anti-Bush and his actions - look what you've done (again..). It's really negative and it achieves nothing. They f*c£€d up badly, beyond any kind of belief and hide behind stuff like "I followed what my god told me" and "it's about .. oh no, I now mean democracy" but look to resolving the situation instead of drowning in a rising ocean of pity and hate. Learn not to let these idiots in next time, and if you didn't last time then educate those who did, work to penalise them or whatever because actions might count for something when these words won't. Do you really think they give a s%!t what's written here.
- PURPLEDRINK, on 11/11/2007, -1/+4so after he disfigures them... he rounds up all the ones who aren't liberals (obviously they wouldn't want to shake his hand), and then uses them for PR. you're incredibly delussional if you think prez bush went there out of the goodness of his own heart, seemingly randomly and everyone was happy to see him.
- DashingLeech, on 11/11/2007, -1/+3aburd, you realize that Bush went to see them as a photo op, right? He didn't do this because he cared for their wellbeing. He is making use of them for PR purposes, to focus on the touching sacrifices they made for their country rather than whether or not he should have put them there in the first place. It's a plea to patriotism for misdirection, not for comfort. If it was, why did he bring photographers along and pose for arranged PR photos with them?
- EnderMB, on 11/11/2007, -0/+3Finally! Someone with a brain here! Whilst I do still think he may have been there for a photo op like some say he was never under any obligation to see them, and I'm sure it touched him greatly. What people seem to forget is that these people actually went out there to fight a war they believe would bring peace, more than anyone on Digg has ever done. Another case of people on the Internet bitching as an anonymous crowd.
Oh, and feel free to Digg me down. With all the bias on Digg articles like these tend to make me want to be buried to oblivion. Please, prove me right.
- digichris, on 11/13/2007, -43/+236No - pictures of these disfigured men standing next to the person that sent them into harms way, is gross.
- DavidBGie, on 11/11/2007, -72/+11It's our war, not his. As you can plainly see it's not benefiting him at all. It's an offensive against OUR (US) enemies. Submission is just more tired anti-Bush propaganda. Besides, I don't see any Democrats standing there with him.
- theholyraptor, on 04/07/2008, -4/+29Do you think Bush would allow a democrat to be there with him? It's a typical 'President visiting people' photo op. It's one of the things the President does. He doesn't drag along random Senators etc so asking where the Democrats are is ludicrous.
Also, it's just that, a photo op. It makes him look good to be visiting the injured, it says nothing about his character.- NoStoppingUs, on 11/11/2007, -5/+4http://hotair.com/archives/2007/04/03/a-bush-momen ...
- theholyraptor, on 04/07/2008, -1/+5So what? One simple gesture makes everything ok? This still makes it hard to judge his character because there are still cameras everywhere. I'd help anyone if they needed except maybe Hitler. As much as I dislike Bush and everything he's done, if he were a 90 year old man, and I were standing next to him, I'd help him into his seat. Granted, I also wouldn't have pushed for as many wars either.
- NoStoppingUs, on 11/11/2007, -5/+4http://hotair.com/archives/2007/04/03/a-bush-momen ...
- mrfunktastic, on 11/11/2007, -4/+12He's a sociopath who doesn't associate his actions with the burned faces of the victims he created. To him, he's doing business, and the worst price of business is having to spend time doing photo ops with people he doesn't give a ***** about, instead of being on the ranch.
- dannytehmanny, on 11/11/2007, -5/+2i hate u
- GameBoyFan, on 11/11/2007, -1/+3It's not *OUR* war!!!
It's his. He'll be remembered as one of the most disastrous presidents in US history.
God help his soul when he dies cause I got a feeling he'll be meeting Saddam where he's going.
- hcnelson, on 11/13/2007, -2/+73To be fair I think Bush was receiving the t-shirt. I thought the same thing at first too, though.
- jggr, on 11/11/2007, -3/+20I think so too. Giving a wounded solder a t-shirt just doesn't seem like the thing to do.
- liquidjamm, on 11/11/2007, -6/+1ESL?
- opiniastrous, on 11/13/2007, -0/+32It says right next to the pic "...Bush is presented a T-shirt..."
- jggr, on 11/11/2007, -3/+20I think so too. Giving a wounded solder a t-shirt just doesn't seem like the thing to do.
- Flakor, on 11/11/2007, -13/+27Notice the smile on his face, its sad knowing that after he sees this he will continue this pointless war.
As for me, the only thing I support in this war is the men who are getting killed and their families.- GiggleStick, on 11/11/2007, -7/+9Yeah don't try to cheer them up or anything. Just frown at them. That will make them feel better.
- thomasX, on 11/11/2007, -2/+1And women.
- jjacksonRIAB, on 11/11/2007, -0/+3Using the term "men" to describe men and women is less pronoun-straddled; no need for Political Correctness.

- Beveridge89, on 11/11/2007, -3/+3Flakor, do you not recognise the difference between the war and the occupation? I have trouble supporting the war, and didnt at the time, but the occupation has a very obvious point, and the consequences of ending it would be catastrophic for Iraq, ecspecially now when things actually seem to be improving.
- tyywebb, on 11/11/2007, -1/+1He probably sees this as an example of what the terrorists do to innocent God loving Americans and as a reason to continue to spread more war.
- desqjockey, on 11/11/2007, -5/+14I think that man was once black. Damn. Thats some ***** up *****.
- micahned, on 11/13/2007, -0/+4I don't think Bush was ever black

- TecHeavy, on 11/11/2007, -5/+3Should of gave him a shot to the nuts!
- xptoast, on 11/11/2007, -11/+15This war MUST end! These pictures as well as the idiocy our country has done puts fury into my soul. I know that we "care" about things but holy *****. We must end this crap and do it fast. Anyone say emp bomb? Do it and do it now damn it. Stop all forms of communication and movement there and take them down quickly. Put up the new system and give their country back. They have a different culture anyways. Lead a horse to water but not make them drink. Lead them then get the ***** out. Dont injure and destroy our or their lives anymore than we already have. Rise up people of America and fight this country from inside out. Ream the rot from our souls and country and get this ***** straightened out. Do it already. Lets rise up. Even us on dig could do it. You remember the uprising that occurred over just a stupid key for the dvds. Now lets do that plus some and rise up and fix this atrocity that we call America. Bring back the dollar and our dignity and grace. Dont make this a jock club anymore. DO IT AND DO IT NOW DAMN IT!!!

You start it... I'll consider following
- Atomic1fire, on 11/13/2007, -19/+13President Bush is presented a T-shirt from Lcpl. Isaac Gallegos during a visit to the Center for the Intrepid at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, November 8, 2007
I hope you remember to read before you attack bush- superdoofus, on 11/11/2007, -5/+13thanks for pointing that out, citizen! that just changed EVERYTHING. bush is now un-attackable because someone GAVE HIM the shirt, all other aspects of the photoset are beholden to "who gave who the shirt".
- acidbass, on 11/11/2007, -6/+1superdoofus: When you talk using big words and complex ideas, the facists dont understand you, here let me try:
Atomiclfire: it was a joke, ITS A FORM OF HUMOR CALLED: "SARCASM"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarcasm
Its when you say one thing but mean another, or

I know that there is a Ron Paul bury brigade or whatever but please hear me out:
The neo-cons are scared of Dr. Paul and his supporters. They are trying to divide and conquer us. They WANT the Ron Paul supporters to split up and support Kuccinich.
They release these pictures so that we are disgusted with Bush and want him and Cheney impeached, even though they are BOTH puppets. Earlier today CNN did a report on UFO's and all these high ranking people saying they were real.
They are trying to INCREASE Kuccinich's popularity because they think it will divide the Ron Paul people.
Please digg this up and spread it around.

At this time the three major superpowers are jockeying for control of the remaining oil reserves. This includes the United States of America, Russia and China.
Peak Oil Supply, which was supposed to have been reached in 2000, is driving wars throughout the Mideast and Africa today. The United States of America would eventually have to go into the Mideast and Africa before the peak oil supply has been reached so as to secure it otherwise it would become the property of Russia and China. IF the oil falls under the control of China or Russia all FREEDOMS from ALL nations would be at stake. NOT just the United States of America. In spite of Russia having an ample supply of oil for itself don't think that Russia is not interested in other oil supplies. Russia is already leveraging its control of oil against Europe and Baltic nations.
These events are just the beginning and will expand for the next thirty years until the majority of oil is removed from the Mideast and Africa. Gradually the oil wars will shift to Asia and South America where the fields are being heavily developed now.
If you do NOT think that the United States of America should NOT be in the Mideast at this time then immediately QUIT driving or riding in gasoline powered bus, car, motorcycle or moped. Start using a bicycle or walking. Prove to yourself that you do NOT need the United States of America to fight for and equal share in the oil remaining globally wherever it happens to be located.
Never mind bashing Bush. DO SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR USEAGE OF GASOLINE!- KidSupreme, on 11/11/2007, -0/+1What makes you think the US has the right to the oil in the middle east?
- EditorResponse, on 11/11/2007, -0/+0It seems like you have your mind made up already....after all you've probably been out riding a bicycle for the last several decades. So tell me. What are you going to do when the oil you need isn't around to fuel the military or for pharmaceuticals?
Mind you I've decided to leave it up to you. So what is your answer? Is China or Russia more important? Should we walk away and leave it to them? Or should we protect what is there so we are sure that we get some of it?- KidSupreme, on 11/11/2007, -0/+2I dont have a car because gas is too expensive for me. As price goes up further more consumers will be priced out like me. They will have to carpool, or use public transportation alot more. That is unitl technology catches up with affordable battery/solar/air pressured cars.
Ofcourse as price goes up, demand for oil will fall, leaving enough for essentials such as pharmaceuticals!? Dont fool yourself in believing we need this war or else we gots no pills.
US has spend almost a trillion dollars on this war, which could have gone a long towards R/D for alternatives to oil, exploration of oil, subsidizing gas, subsidizing food affected by rise in oil price.
Even if it made economic sense to start this war (which it doesnt) it would still be unethical. - dawurz, on 11/11/2007, -0/+1Our President agrees with you! In last year’s State of the Union, President Bush said the “best way to break this addiction [to oil] is through technology.” Bush also said "For too long our nation has been dependent on foreign oil. And this dependence leaves us more vulnerable to hostile regimes, and to terrorists who could cause huge disruptions of oil shipments…raise the price of oil…and do great harm to our economy.” Bush II has pledged to reduce our energy dependence in every State of the Union he has delivered since taking office, but his actions do not match his words. His 2007 budget proposed funding less than half of what his energy bill promised for renewable energy and energy efficiency, the two most readily available opportunities to break our addiction to oil.. At the same time, the United States has become increasingly dependent on foreign oil, from 58 percent of oil consumed in the U.S. in 2000 to 70 percent in September 2006. U.S. dependence on OPEC nations for oil imports has risen to its highest level in 15 years. Gasoline prices have more than doubled since 2000, the same year the President pledged to 'jawbone' OPEC nations like Saudi Arabia to bring down the price of gas.
I'll take your homerun suggestions to ride a bicycle or walk, but if our President's actions are against our efforts to reduce oil dependence, who do you think has the winning hand - the oil? Or us?

- darkciti2, on 11/11/2007, -3/+1Absolutely! I own a 2003 BMW 330Ci, a 2000 VW Jetta, and a 1995 Ford Aspire.
I drive my Ford Aspire to work because it gets 48 MPG (and small cars are quite fun to drive, I might add). THAT is how I support our troops. I WALK THE WALK. My ACTIONS and not rhetoric support our troops much more than any yellow magnet (that was made in China) stuck to a Black Suburban ever will.
I drive the nicer cars on the weekends, etc.; but the vast majority of my driving is done in a tiny fuel efficient car. It's my way of saying ***** YOU to the Oil Execs. Few things are better than getting 320 miles from an 8 gallon tank and $15.00 (My Jetta and Bimmer are > $45 per fill up).- ErrorS, on 11/11/2007, -1/+1*****, you're only doing that to save a few dollars.. if you truly cared about using less oil for the troops, you would drive something that runs on ethanol. It's more expensive but since it's all about the troops, why not?
An ethanol, even the least efficient, will get 150Miles per gallon of GASOLINE at worst. It might cost you more a mile in the end, but since it's for the troops why should it matter?
Your 48MPG Ford Aspire really only gets 31MPG highway if you're driving an auto, 38mpg highway if you're driving a manual, you can do better with most diesels.
If it's for the enviroment or money, fine, enjoy your Aspire.. but don't try to act like you're doing it for the troops.
that's what I'm getting sick of, all of this "I support the troops" garbage, but there is always an if.
"I support the troops" ... "if it's convienant"
in your case:
"I support the troops" "... if I can also save a few dollars at the same time"
Send their family some money, send the troops a ***** postcard or a letter.. DVDs, videogames, it's all stuff they can have and it's all stuff they would LOVE to have when they get a few minute break from kicking the enemy's ass. A letter is usually enough, just to show there are people back home that are proud of the job they're doing.
That's somethign my father taught me, someone who serves in the military.. most of you have no clue how much a soldier enjoys a simple "Thank you" gift from America. There are lots of 'adopt a soldier' sites you can go to that will show you how to get started. It's a great way for most Americans to show they support the troops ...without going to extreme measures of course... - goodkidyo, on 11/11/2007, -0/+3I have many leather bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

I hope you're ***** joking. - blackinthmiddle, on 11/12/2007, -1/+27I don’t oppose all wars. And I know that in this crowd today, there is no shortage of patriots, or of patriotism. What I am opposed to is a dumb war. What I am opposed to is a rash war. What I am opposed to is the cynical attempt by Richard Perle and Paul Wolfowitz and other arm-chair, weekend warriors in this Administration to shove their own ideological agendas down our throats, irrespective of the costs in lives lost and in hardships borne.
What I am opposed to is the attempt by political hacks like Karl Rove to distract us from a rise in the uninsured, a rise in the poverty rate, a drop in the median income – to distract us from corporate scandals and a stock market that has just gone through the worst month since the Great Depression.
That’s what I’m opposed to. A dumb war. A rash war. A war based not on reason but on passion, not on principle but on politics.

- dawurz, on 11/10/2007, -0/+1Pathetic. The stars of the conservative media traffic in nothing BUT name calling (and distortion, falsehoods, misinformation, character defmation). To name a small sample: Rush Limbaugh, Ann Colter, Michael Savage, Neil Boortz, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Tucker Carlson, Glenn Beck, Matt Drudge, Neil Cavuto, John Gibson, Brit Hume, Fred Barnes, Mort Kondracke, Charles Krauthammer, Howard Kurtz, Melanie Morgan, Kathleen Willey, Steve Doocy, Charles Colson. The idea of a "liberal media" is mythical canard, like "GOP" and "fiscal responsibility" or "GOP" and "morality and family values" in the same sentence.

They are scared and trying to use last ditch efforts to stop us.
We can beat these neo-con a$$holes, but we have to stand together!- Myakka, on 11/11/2007, -0/+3This is my fantasy: Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinch run as pres/v.p. on an anti-war and sane government ticket. - LukasSmith, on 11/11/2007, -3/+4I dont actually see them saying ***** you Bush. Of course they may not be able to speak but still. I think those men realize that any military situation is dangerous. What do we even have a military for? planting roses? singing songs while holding hands? I mean seriously people if they never go into combat we might as well just disband our military. Oops then 3/4 of them would be on the street because the military is all they have. dang. You democats are too cruel. Also note alot of those soldiers will end up with a big cash handout from Uncle Sam. And if not how many 100's of disabled soldier funds do you not realize exist? This guy served three years in panama and returned with 0 injuries but still is on the streets oddly and I quote"Ben, at 51, is honest enough to acknowledge that some problems of his thirties and forties were of his own making." http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7087267.stm. He also mentioned when he joined military there was no money and he had a PREVIOUS medical condition. He also mentioned he got help only from a place that didnt test for drugs or alcohol. How many other soldiers do you think have this same situation? Of course back in his day maybe the military didnt offer the moon for you to join like they do now. All Iim saying is that I would like to see a report that says 1/4 of Iraqi soldiers end up on the streets because with the perks the military hands out these days to even get someone to join I highly doubt it. I think many of those soldiers on the street were a. from decades ago who werent offered much when they joined or b. are just ***** ups who did drugs or drank away thier money or commited a crime. I mean just because your a vet doesnt mean your an angel of God.

Also, alcoholics and drug abusers may be at increased risk of abusing and or becoming psychologically dependent on zolpidem. If everyone who was against bush (which is a lot of people, including myself) got together with positive energy rather than just telling him to ***** off...I really think more would get done. Either that or the government would take us more seriously.- LloydBentsen, on 11/11/2007, -0/+1In all honesty, I like your sentiments, but I think many people are well past the boiling point when it comes to this man.

- bdhughes, on 11/10/2007, -0/+4Not only was he briefed, but iI bet they had photos and print outs of their whole story, where they were injured, family history, etc. No way did he go in there unaware or without being briefed and prepared for the horrors of these terrible injuries. Besides being a sociopath, he is a well-prepared, sanctimonious, self-righteous, remorseless, emotionally and spiritually bankrupt *****.
***** the ***** *****!
- JustinPM, on 11/10/2007, -0/+1How bad would that make them feel if he burst into tears while looking at that guy? The best thing you could do is be respectful and carry on a decent conversation. I wouldn't have the heart to be there myself, I couldn't take it. My dad had a heart attack last year and it was hard to be in the same room. I've known the guy my entire life, but now he looks alien. Real hard. It'd be the same here.

- NSMike, on 11/12/2007, -4/+48I'm NOT defending Bush or his choices.
But I remember a story Phyllis Diller told once.
She and Bob Hope were visiting the injured soldiers, many of whom were just as injured as the ones in this set of photos. Phyllis said she started crying looking at one young man who had lost both legs above the knee. Bob took her aside and said, "Please, I know this is hard to look at, but try to keep your emotions in check. That's not what we're here for."
And he was right. Those guys probably want no more sympathy for their situation than you would.
That doesn't excuse the terrible decisions that were made that led to these young men getting injured. That doesn't excuse the shameless photo op. And since Bush isn't there to entertain, like Bob Hope and Phyllis Diller, It sort-of pulls that excuse out from under him too. But the last thing those guys want is to be reminded of what has happened to them and how tragic it is. They want to start adapting, and moving on.
Now, what he did AFTER that meeting would be more telling. We don't have that story, though.- jggr, on 11/11/2007, -2/+13Good post. And I agree. Sure, this was a political movement, and I'm no Bush fan, but if he didn't visit the wounded vets, what would we all be thinking of him then. This wasn't a photo op (well, it was, but only partly).... This was part of his duty as a war president to be seen supporting those who he has called to war. I don't think this means Bush is heartless or that he didn't feel empathy for these unfortunate solders, he was just doing his job.
/Not that Bush needs more evidence of his obvious lacking in morals, but I don't think this particular incident can be used as evidence of his evilness.- gmiley, on 11/11/2007, -0/+3I hate to agree, I really do, but you are both correct. :( He is still a douchebag.
- VitriolAndAngst, on 11/10/2007, -0/+4I agree and disagree.
Bush shouldn't be crying because it's going to make it tough for these guys.
But I can also tell you, that he had no impulse to cry. These are just bags of meat to Bush -- he is a psychopath. He only has sympathy for himself. I don't say that because I don't like him, there seems to be a lot of evidence that he has no "connection" with other people, and rarely knows if a situation is serious or not - someone has to tell him beforehand not to tell jokes.
He is probably also numb with anti-psychotics here.- Myakka, on 11/11/2007, -1/+2Bush felt for his rich friends who lost property in the Katrina disaster; but not the poor folk in New Orleans.
From this I conclude that Bush's definition of "people" excludes 99.9% of us. If you aren't one of his rich buddies, then you are sub-human and expendable.
Let's not wait for the next election -- let's kick this guy out now! Support Dennis Kucinch's drive for impeachment .

- MASTERPL, on 11/11/2007, -1/+5It made me sick (sadness and anger) to see these pics. Bush is a ***** monster. I would be crying and apologizing on my knees to these guys. I think most soul possessing men would break down in his place, but he just smiles like a jackass.

- blahbbs, on 11/11/2007, -2/+6I work at BAMC and I have to tip my hat to the doctors, nurses, and therapists that are trying to help these soldiers. Some of these guys are burnt over 90% of their bodies and would have been dead if not for some of the work they do at BAMC. One may question their quality of life, but that's not for us to decide. I don't support Bush's war, but I can't believe some of the comments that imply that Bush is not affected by this.

- HollowMarkeD, on 11/10/2007, -1/+1Some of the most heartbreaking pictures I've seen on Digg. Bush is fundamentally mistaken in what he is doing, but I think he believes what he is doing is right, in some strange psychopathic way. You'd have to be Evil Incarnate to not be affected by meeting these war vets; those brave soldiers have to do it, its their job. I do see regret in his eyes as he meets them.
- sittered, on 11/11/2007, -1/+7Not ashamed to say that I tear up when I see those faces.
- mrtechbuzz, on 11/11/2007, -0/+7This is why we need to start protesting war with Iran... before it's too late! Bush and Cheney still have a year left and I don't think they're done. Iran is a much different place than Iraq and has a much bigger population!
- JustinPM, on 11/11/2007, -0/+3It breaks my heart looking at those pictures. ***** tragic. Nobody deserves to have these kinds of injuries.
- Akronos, on 11/11/2007, -0/+2Agreed. If I was president and knew I was responsible for their injuries and the deaths of their fellow soldiers, I'd end the war immediately and then shoot myself in the head. I seriously don't think I would be able to live with the fact that I have ruined countless other lives, American and foreign.
I wish our media would actually show these types of things. Yes, it's graphic but numbers and statistics show nothing compared to these pictures.
