World's oldest person dies at 114
news.com.au — The world's oldest person, a Japanese woman who counted eating well and getting rest as her hobbies, has died aged 114. Yone Minagawa, a widow who lived in a nursing home but was still sprightly late in life, died “of old age” yesterday.

- ramong, on 10/10/2007, -13/+8Centenarians usually attribute their longevity to the same things: diet (mostly plant-based, NO processed of canned foods), physical activity, mental activity, reduced exposure to toxins (nicotine, alcohol, caffeine, pollutants, etc) profound spirituality and a positive outlook on life.
Older people are revered in these cultures, unlike ours where aging is seen as a bad thing. I think 114 is way beyond the average life expectancy on this side of the world (70-ish or less) and that we should follow the leads of these centenarians in order to get the most out of this life and live as long as our genes will allow us to.- computergod, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Last 'oldest woman' I remember was still smoking till the very end.

- freetyme, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5...That was how many years until the flood, in which everyone's but Noah and his families days were numbered, it was God's way of saying "Hey Noah, you got less than 126 (more) years to finish that boat. kthxbye"
- stanleyford, on 10/10/2007, -5/+0Oh, those wacky Christians! Say, care to cite the passage in the Bible which asserts this, or find me any denomination of Christianity which believes this? Cause I'm willing to bet that this is another one of those things Diggers say Christians believe (and then ridicule them for), but which is not believed by any Christian at all.
- zman14321, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2I read it in the noah story, don't believe me, go ***** read it.
- plutpwnium, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Lol, the noah story... as if the Bible is split into a series of seperate stories.
Seriously though, it does say that, i believe its 120 years he lived though, not 125. - stanleyford, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0"I read it in the noah story, don't believe me, go ***** read it." -- I didn't believe you, so I read it. Genesis 6:3 says (God speaking), "His days shall be an hundred and twenty years," followed closely by 6:7: "I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth," clearly implying that God was giving humans one hundred twenty years before the flood. Later, in 9:28, it says, "Noah lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years." More research online shows that all scholars believe that 120 year figure means the time between God speaking and the flood; no one believes it means that God has placed a maximum lifespan on humankind. Therefore, sir, I pronounce you full of crap.

Oldest person ever recorded, lived to the age of 122, thus beating aceallways figure of 120.
Of course, a christian will probably reply by musing that a bible year is different to our conception of a year, if not longer.
