Burn the Guitar Hero III Demo
xboxlivetheguide.co.uk — Don't have TH: Proving Grounds? Don't need it to play the GH3 demo.
- 1063 diggs
- digg it
- santafr0g, on 10/24/2007, -7/+11It says it's burnable to either DVD or CD, but I've only been able to play it on DVD - if I try to play it on a CD it'll be unreadable.
- koheed, on 10/20/2007, -1/+21I was able to get it to work from a CD with no problems.
- doshindude, on 10/20/2007, -1/+6I had the opposite: Nero couldn't burn it to a DVD but could burn it to a CD-R. The 360 reads it just fine but it's SLOW as hell.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/20/2007, -1/+5It ain't fast from DVD either.
- santafr0g, on 10/20/2007, -0/+2Sounds to me like it's a media problem then. I used Sony DVDR's and CompUSA Generic CDR's; the Sony DVD's worked fine
- FaaipDeOiad, on 10/20/2007, -0/+2i got it to work with a cd rw
- BabyWookie, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1Played fine from a cheap Best Buy "Dynex" brand CD-R for me.
- FamilyGuy, on 10/21/2007, -0/+1Worked fine for me on a CD-R as well. I was actually very surprised... First try and everything!
- FRAGaLOT, on 10/21/2007, -0/+1yeah it plays fine as a CD, but it does load REALLY SLOW like Doshindued said earlier. Try using different burning software when you burn the ISO onto a CD, or maybe burn it at a slower speed like 4x. I used "DeepBurner" to burn the ISO in windows.
- mrviznasty, on 10/24/2007, -0/+14i could really use this right now. I cant wait much longer for the real deal to come out on the 28th.
- FaaipDeOiad, on 10/20/2007, -0/+2agreed. i downloaded it and it worked! Too bad I left my gh2 guitar in my dorm room.... Now i have to use the stupid controller
- mrviznasty, on 10/24/2007, -0/+13oh man. it worked! it was so sweettttt
- P373Y, on 10/19/2007, -6/+2wow two comments both opposites.
someone has multiple personalties.- cam503, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1Or a sloppy comeback from a double comment. He would've had to do it like 8 hours and 59 minutes ago though and it must've somehow posted a minute apart.
- P373Y, on 10/19/2007, -6/+2wow two comments both opposites.
- Truckondo, on 10/24/2007, -1/+53This should be on the marketplace. They try to put that in the new Tony Hawk game so it will sell. Too bad the Tony Hawk series has gone stale like week old donuts. Can't wait to play it.
- IanPatterson, on 10/25/2007, -5/+14Skate is amazing
- Grimi, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1I heard the demo is coming out on Tuesday on the market place.
- cam503, on 10/19/2007, -5/+1Proving Ground has definitely been out on Marketplace awhile now.
And yes, it does suck.
- cam503, on 10/19/2007, -5/+1Proving Ground has definitely been out on Marketplace awhile now.
- tastypastry, on 10/19/2007, -0/+10Honestly, Tony Hawk 2 for the DreamCast plays better than Proving Ground and TH8.
- AmICoolNow, on 10/20/2007, -0/+3WEEK old? Try nearly a decade old.
- FamilyGuy, on 10/21/2007, -0/+1I was over it after the second Tony Hawk game of all time came out... Next!
- FRAGaLOT, on 10/21/2007, -0/+1Why isn't the demo for Guitar Hero 2 on marketplace? I doubt if this demo will hit the marketplace on XBL. Nor even a demo of Rock Band.
- evilinside2020, on 10/22/2007, -0/+1well prior to GH2 coming on 360, nobody had a guitar for it. and who wants to play GH2 with the regular controller. I'd assume the demo for GH3 will be out a few days before the game actually comes out.
- cmoneyrox, on 10/20/2007, -10/+3so what exactly do you do after you download it?
- otatop, on 10/20/2007, -1/+12Burn the image to a disc and put it in your 360.
- Matt174e, on 10/19/2007, -1/+4"You have to get the "Content" folder and put that (with everything in it) onto the DVD/CD, the demo will be where the other demos on your 360 normally are (game blade, demos and more)."
What the heck does all that mean?
- Matt174e, on 10/19/2007, -1/+4"You have to get the "Content" folder and put that (with everything in it) onto the DVD/CD, the demo will be where the other demos on your 360 normally are (game blade, demos and more)."
- doshindude, on 10/20/2007, -0/+5burn the .iso image to a disc using a burning program that supports .iso files.
put disc in 360
go to Demos section, NOT THE DISC SECTION.
select GHIII demo
- otatop, on 10/20/2007, -1/+12Burn the image to a disc and put it in your 360.
- FXPooky, on 10/20/2007, -1/+5Hot damn, this is awesome, much better than GH2 and the track list is unbelievable.
- FRAGaLOT, on 10/21/2007, -0/+1I dunno. Few weeks ago I listened to MP3's of the songs that will be in GH3, and only a handful of songs sounded really good. I wish I could export some songs from Gh2 into GH3 so I can play battle mode with friends on songs I know very well. I've heard great reviews about the guitar it self, so I'm looking more forward to that, trying it with Gh2 songs as well.
- D3koy, on 10/19/2007, -1/+1Awesome? Very...
- nygrissplz, on 10/20/2007, -2/+0wow awesome. thanks for this
- handheldchimp, on 10/19/2007, -16/+1Now for the real question...will we be bant?
- r0b0, on 10/21/2007, -4/+11Uhh... no? You're not modding anything...
*points and laughs at stupidity*
The real question, is if this can be done for the Guitar Hero demo, whats to stop people from doing this to games?- fjc8, on 10/21/2007, -0/+13Most likely, signed binaries that have flags that trigger media checking code (or in this case, don't). Either way, the binary is still signed by Microsoft's key and can't be modified without resigning or bypassing the signature check.
- Rockmaninoff, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1It would simply require to much work and excess coding to make every single OXM Demo completely secure. This discs are assembled in the millions each month...they're not going to waste all this digital security for a bunch of game demos.
If you think about it another way, it could really help them to put out "free" or burnable demos; it'll increase exposure to the game, thus generating business.
- bejayel, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1we have had a modded 360 for a month. We do updates and play online all the time and we havent been banned yet. Even play online games pre-release.
- r0b0, on 10/21/2007, -4/+11Uhh... no? You're not modding anything...
- kriegs, on 10/20/2007, -2/+1Worked great :)
- Lazyboy0172, on 10/19/2007, -1/+1sweet that this is out there, and works to boot!
songs arent that fun though, none on the demo that i just Loved, though i Liked them all. i think i had too high expectations for 'Rock You Like A Hurricane'- I wanted the song to do just that. - themarq, on 10/22/2007, -12/+8PC Demo please?
- Madmod, on 10/21/2007, -19/+5guitar hero is for gaming systems only.
try frets on fire!- Jeebugorn, on 10/19/2007, -2/+19actually Guitar Hero 3 is coming out on PC too
- bigdumbanimal, on 10/21/2007, -2/+1actually, nobody cares
- FamilyGuy, on 11/12/2007, -2/+1I guess that it's pretty cool that GHIII is coming out on the PC as well, I mean, thank god right?! Finally the PC gamers have something fun to play! But I still don't give a crap how many different arguments PC gamers come up with, PC gaming is no longer the fun way to play video games. The only people who will NORMALLY argue with that is FPS people who say the aiming is better and losers who spend every waking moment that they are free playing fricken' WoW.
- FRAGaLOT, on 10/21/2007, -1/+1Frets of Fire SUCKS after you've played a few songs. It crashes often, it takes forever for the songs to load. And they always get the wrong bass/rythem song files mixed with the wrong song you're playing. Open Source software isn't always the best.. it just means it's cheap!
GH3 will be out for the PC about two weeks after it's released on the consoles, and I heard that it comes with a song editor/importer like FoF does. I don't think it will rip songs from GH discs (though that would be cool)- brokencrystal, on 10/21/2007, -0/+1The new version never crashes on me. You can import all the guitar hero songs to Frets on Fire, so why does it suck after you play a few songs?
- FRAGaLOT, on 10/21/2007, -0/+1I am using the newest version and it still crashes on me often when loading songs. but it also just plays bad for the reasons I stated earlier. Plus the frame rate is really choppy, out of sync with the music. No star power, and why are there tons more HoPo's in FoF that don't exist in the same songs in GH? And who the hell hammers on to a chord? FoF is just retarded.
- FamilyGuy, on 10/21/2007, -0/+1You can bury that lost comment if you really want to, but we all know it's true. I mean come on! There are other games out there folks! (mutters under breath) Fricken' living under rocks I swear.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 10/21/2007, -1/+1Hahahahah... good luck pluggin in the guitar.
- FRAGaLOT, on 10/21/2007, -0/+2You can use the same Xplorer guitar that came with Gh2 for the 360; it's a USB device. And it looks like the PC version of GH3 comes with the same Xplorer controller that's for the 360.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 10/22/2007, -0/+1Sorry I'm using the Ps2 version here and I'm not alone. But cool USB guitars...
- cool29801, on 10/23/2007, -0/+0Just use Guitar Zero, we also have guitar zero 2 coming out really soon, and its easy to use, and its WAAAAAAY better than frets on fire.

- Madmod, on 10/21/2007, -19/+5guitar hero is for gaming systems only.
- Dmatias, on 10/20/2007, -2/+10legal to download? (need to know because my college cracks down on downloading big files)
- Atomic1fire, on 10/29/2007, -1/+7no
because from My understanding this demo was offered with a tony hawk game so they just burned it and uploaded it on megaupload
its technically copyright infridgement - nygrissplz, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1move out of your dorm and use peerguardian :)
- doshindude, on 10/29/2007, -1/+8demos are legal and free. nothing to fear.
- louiedog, on 10/19/2007, -1/+2Says who? Just because Microsoft distributes demos for free doesn't mean they give consumers the right to distribute them. I'd be extremely surprised if anything happened to anyone doing so, but it doesn't make it legal.
- LetsGoHokies, on 10/29/2007, -1/+1If you are worried about it, just wait until it hits the marketplace. Shouldn't be long.
- Atomic1fire, on 10/29/2007, -1/+7no
- DrMickhead, on 10/29/2007, -1/+17Does anyone know why the Xbox 360 couldn't run a regular game disc burnt to a DVD-R as opposed to only this demo? I know they don't want people running unsigned code, and this seems like a bit of a loophole. But maybe that's because I have no idea how the 360 software works.
- handheldchimp, on 10/29/2007, -1/+3I don't think they signed the demo. Besides it is just a demo and not the full game. I got the demo on an Xbox Magazine disc, but gave it to my friend to borrow and now he refuses to give it back!! Now I have an alternative!
- FRAGaLOT, on 10/21/2007, -0/+1it is a signed demo, otherwise it wouldn't run at all. All executables are encrypted, and checked to make sure the exe hasn't been modified.
- salmonmoose, on 10/29/2007, -2/+2The demo is signed code. However it does not run the checks for a valid disc, you can do the same thing with XBLA games apparently, and likewise, the dashboard updates can be downloaded, burnt and run. It's likely they don't require a 'signed' disc so that magazines etc don't have to go to the effort of burning strange discs.
- thesauce, on 10/29/2007, -0/+6To elaborate on the previous replies: each xex is signed with a media tag. This tag determines which kind of media it can run from (pressed DVD, CD, burned CD, etc). There is a tag that allows xexs to be run from any media, and most demos are given this. Same goes for the XboxLive "Unplugged" marketplace games disc. You could download it and burn it to any media and your 360 will read it (assuming it is quality media). Unfortunately, you will only be able to run the demo version of each game because there is a hash stored somewhere in the 360 (most likely the storage device) that determines whether or not you have purchased the full version.
For more info on xex signing you can go to http://www.xboxhacker.net/ and browse around the Technical discussion area.

- handheldchimp, on 10/19/2007, -0/+10Direct *Working* Mininova Torrent
http://www.mininova.org/tor/946320- handheldchimp, on 10/19/2007, -1/+3Damn someone posted a torrent above me...curse my slow internetz...
- otatop, on 10/19/2007, -1/+4At least mininova doesn't require registration or being non-Canadian.
- woofers07, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2the minnova torrent is way faster then the demonoid torrent for me anyway.

- Syphon8, on 10/19/2007, -13/+8Is there a PS2 demo? :(

- doshindude, on 10/19/2007, -2/+6No.
- greekgoat91, on 10/29/2007, -3/+7I wonder how the drive allows the burnt disc to be played. any word on this?
- joegibes, on 10/29/2007, -0/+30Lasers... And a series of tubes.
- fatlip, on 10/19/2007, -2/+2amen!
- fatlip, on 10/19/2007, -0/+3amen!
- Dracusis, on 10/19/2007, -2/+2Dugg for tubes.
- salmonmoose, on 10/29/2007, -0/+4They always allowed burnt discs, thats how you update the dashboard if you don't have internets.
- Rijnzael, on 10/19/2007, -1/+2I'm pretty sure that the Xbox can make a distinction between media that contains game code and media which contains system updates. Otherwise modified DVD firmware wouldn't be necessary for backed-up games. There's something else going on here.
- GeckoSlayer, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2It's the same as the XBLA games, the media tag is flagged to not verify if it is on a game disc.
- Rijnzael, on 10/19/2007, -1/+2I'm pretty sure that the Xbox can make a distinction between media that contains game code and media which contains system updates. Otherwise modified DVD firmware wouldn't be necessary for backed-up games. There's something else going on here.
- santafr0g, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1The reason you can't burn games is because they have copyright protection on them. When they made the demo for GHIII my assumption is they forgot the protection because it's part of TH and they weren't expecting somebody to rip it.
- Nayamina, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1I can't really see them forgetting to add the protection to the CD, but think about it. Tony Hawk's fan base has been shrinking for years. And how many diggers are grabbing this ASAP? Sounds like a good marketing strategy if you ask me. I think more demos should be available for download like this. Might just piss off gaming magazines if they did.
- joegibes, on 10/29/2007, -0/+30Lasers... And a series of tubes.
- LincolnA, on 10/19/2007, -4/+3Can anyone confirm it works on CD, rather than DVD?
- otatop, on 10/19/2007, -0/+5I burned it onto a CD. It shows up as a mulitmedia disc in the 360, but when you go to the games blade and hit demos, it shows up.
- paOol, on 10/29/2007, -11/+1can someone confirm if this works on a non-modded 360?
- ReCkLeSsX, on 10/19/2007, -2/+1Yeah, I have it working on a DVD.
- mjar81, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2it does. i put it in my console and the disc is identified as "Milti-format disc" then go to the demos page and it shows up in the list.
- Grimi, on 10/20/2007, -1/+3Sweet thanks i was worried I'd actually PAY for the magazine to pay the demo early but once again the internet prevailes by making everything free.
- Koldkompress, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2apart from paying for the Internet..
- slamtv7, on 10/19/2007, -4/+6Wow, this is going to lead to a huge exploit.
- VPurpmalkV, on 10/19/2007, -0/+6Doubtful. It's just an unsigned demo. I'm sure they wouldn't make a mistake like this with a full blown game.
- SharkyTech, on 10/19/2007, -1/+1As jer.williams says below, if it can run this unsigned code whats to stop it running any unsigned code. Your comment really makes no sense, what mistake? The point is not that they left the game unsigned, but that the xbox is runnning it unsigned.
- GeckoSlayer, on 10/19/2007, -0/+3No, it is signed. The media tag inside the xex file is set to not verify game disc for authenticity. They do this with xbox updates and XBLA games.
- jer.williams, on 10/19/2007, -1/+3Isn't the whole point of signing that the Xbox isn't supposed to run unsigned code? How is it possible that it's running an unsigned demo, and if this is the case what's keeping people from running, say, an unsigned XBMC?
- FamilyGuy, on 10/21/2007, -0/+1I guarantee there is code buried somewhere within the damn 360 that allows the system to play unsigned CD/DVDs as long as the software itself is only a demo. Also, I'm sure, that the system has a way of determining what kind of software it is. Seriously, I highly doubt this is a sign of some loophole. It's just a demo.
- Smitty420, on 10/22/2007, -0/+0negative, on the "code buried somewhere within the damn 360 that allows the system to play unsigned CD/DVDs as long as the software itself is only a demo"
The Demo is a direct copy, line for line of code, from the OXM disc, its just a ripped ISO, nothing on there the 360 won't read or compute.
OXM discs have long been the subject of "Open Code" discussion, but, its just not so.

- TroubleInMind, on 10/29/2007, -2/+1Limeys.
- DjDonFrancisco, on 10/29/2007, -2/+2Yes this works on a CDR. Also this can't be illegal because it has been distributed twice already. Once through the Tony Hawk game and also through a magazine demo. So it's not like burning this demo to a disc is stealing money from the developers pockets. Also the demo is scheduled to be on the XBL Marketplace before the game is released but this is just a quick work around.
- postal21, on 10/21/2007, -3/+7WHAT? people arent buying Tony Hawk Proving Grounds to play the demo like they bought Crackdown to play Halo3 beta?! omg.
- posure, on 10/21/2007, -1/+10At least Crackdown was a good game.
- Squishy3, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1Because there are cheaper ways to obtain the demo rather than buying a ***** game.
- joegibes, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1...and the Halo 3 beta was a bit more full-featured (and hyped) than GHIII.
- FRAGaLOT, on 10/21/2007, -0/+1The beta wasn't actually on the Crackdown game disc. You still had to download the Halo 3 beta with the Crackdown game running, and it wasn't playable the day Crackdown came out. Was like 2-3 months before we could play the Halo 3 beta.
- posure, on 10/21/2007, -1/+10At least Crackdown was a good game.
- Striff, on 10/23/2007, -0/+6I got this to work on a CD-R.
- doshindude, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1As did I, but it was extremely slow.
- rheaume, on 10/19/2007, -11/+2Im going to burn it in the same pile as the Dixie Chicks cd
- skizzabadoo, on 10/19/2007, -1/+5What does your comment have anything to do with the content of this article? You are only trying to start a political debate. - xm1014, on 10/19/2007, -1/+2You know he could just be saying that their music sucks....
- rheaume, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1The article is called "Burn the guitar hero III demo", Dixie Chicks had their CD's burned by moron hicks after they said they were ashamed the president was from Texas.
Get it? BURN the demo? Burning? Mcfly?

- LaSepultura, on 10/19/2007, -0/+0Sweet, it worked. Was able to beat all the songs on expert except for "The Metal". The section where it alternates between green/red/blue and green/yellow/blue kills me.
- TrojanGuy, on 10/29/2007, -0/+71. Burn the iso to a CD-R
2. Put the CD-R in your 360 (it'll say it's a mixed media disc)
3. Go to your Arcade/Demos (the green one) blade
4. Click on demos and start the GH3 demo!
And yes, it loads kinda slow for me too but just be patient and it does work. - goliath553, on 10/19/2007, -1/+11) right click the download and choose "open with" then pick whatever cd/dvd burning program you have (i used nero)
2) choose either cd/dvd and select your burn speed (i chose DVD as i dont have any CDR's) - Also its a good idea to lower your burner from the fastest setting for a 'better' burn. I chose 4x speed.
3) Pop it into your Xbox (mixed media disc message appears)
4) Go to Arcade/Demos Blade
5) Choose Demo's and GH3 should be listed....
Have fun.
This was awesome, been waiting for soooo long, great 5 songs! - EXElotus, on 10/29/2007, -1/+1I'd rather wait for the demo to come to the marketplace but good job for whoever got the demo out of Proving Grounds. Have fun to those who got it working!
- FRAGaLOT, on 10/21/2007, -0/+1It might not be from the Tony Hawk game, it was also included in Offical Xbox Magazine (OXM) disc. Regardless there's nothing illegal about copying a DEMO game that's intended to be distributed freely. But I'm sure the RIAA will have a *****-fit because there's (omg!) MUSIC in the demo.
- UclaWill, on 10/29/2007, -0/+4Maybe it's just me, but I was utterly underwhelmed. Especially when comparing side by side to GH II. Something about the game play and rhythm just felt 'off'. Too forgiving, perhaps? For example, my fingers would clearly stumble through some solos on expert, yet the multiplier would still be maxed out! It also seems like you can strum a full quarter beat before the notes should be played and they will still register. Anyone else notice those issues?
- goldcd, on 10/19/2007, -1/+1I don't like it either.
But for me it seemed too hard. Well not hard as in 'I can't do the song' but hard as in I swear I hit the button on time and it make that vile noise and said I didn't.
To me seemed like too few notes, but being more fussy about the timing. Graphics looked muddier than GH2 as well (although not really that much of an issue).
I was hoping the GH2 code would have made it to Neversoft, but this feels like a re-write. All I f'in wanted was GH2 with a new set of songs :( - Macshiba, on 10/29/2007, -9/+1That's why it's called a DEMO, you ***** idiot.
- Matt174e, on 10/21/2007, -1/+4What makes you so sure? This is a DEMO, not a BETA.
DEMOnstration doesn't necessarily mean that the game isn't finished. It could very well be finished.
- Matt174e, on 10/21/2007, -1/+4What makes you so sure? This is a DEMO, not a BETA.
- kiheimac, on 10/19/2007, -0/+3Not sure why you are getting dugg down. Anyone who has spent a good deal of time with GHII should agree with you. They have definitely made fretting notes more forgiving. I also noticed the general speed of the notes has increased and when using my GHII controller I could "shake" it to deploy star power, making it even easier to use. Not that these are bad things, they are just different. This is just an observation, not a complaint. The mechanics are a bit different but the game is still just as fun.
- UclaWill, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1Whew. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I also noticed the ease of star power deployment and speed increase. Almost felt like I playing GH II on hyperspeed. No real complaints there.
A positive observation: I love that there's a note counter.

- Squishy3, on 10/19/2007, -1/+1UlcaWill, there's always been a bit of leeway for hitting certain notes in GH since II came out. You can still hit certain notes around half a second after it's passed, but the game won't show you as having hit it and the note won't disappear. Or at least, it's been working that way for me.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who's noticed this. - FRAGaLOT, on 10/21/2007, -0/+1I've noticed it's a lot easier to activate star power with my old Xploer guitar I've had since GH2. Playing seems about as normal as it has been. Keep in mind if you're using a HDTV there might be a video delay, so you may need to calibrate the game for that, OR disable your TV's video processing so it just displays the video as-is from your 360.
- goldcd, on 10/19/2007, -1/+1I don't like it either.
- mlazarov, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1Can anybody provide any details about how this works from the technical side? Maybe I haven't been abreast of 360 hacking progress but this seems substantial.
- FRAGaLOT, on 10/21/2007, -0/+1this isn't a hack.
- Braingoo, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1Not sure how or why it works maybe somebody got their hands on a demo disc and made an ISO.
Either way it works and I'm glad it does played some even flow and the metal before work this morning.
Great way to start a Friday. - cbrunet, on 10/19/2007, -0/+3Works great, but for me anyways, there was some huge jawed crazy person signing. Hopefully this was just my copy, and not what everyone else is experiencing.
- ftgarcia, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1I know right! Who knew that Jay Leno was in the game? I knew about the other celebs like Slash, Tom Morello, and Bret Michaels; but this is an awesome added bonus. At least he sticks to singing the songs instead of doing a painful attempt at a stand up monologue.
- jaychuck, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1Yeah, i played it on a Sony DVD-R and it worked fine, but i have a question. I play on Expert. Is anyone else having a hard time beating "Metal" on Expert?
- UclaWill, on 10/19/2007, -0/+0yup. breezed though everything else til i got to that one. but glad there was a challenge in there somewhere. after work, it shall be conquered.
- FRAGaLOT, on 10/21/2007, -0/+1yeah that song screwed me up on the first try. I easily played it all on HARD, and then Expert wasn't much different, but there's something about The Metal that made my brain cry.
- Lkr721993, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1do i gotta disconnect from live for this?
- Squishy3, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1No, because people will just think you're playing the demo off of TH or the OXM disc. I don't think Microsoft can track what goes in and out of your disc drive if you don't use the disc.
- CryptoManiaC, on 10/29/2007, -2/+1Does it work on a PAL 360?
- FRAGaLOT, on 10/21/2007, -0/+1try it, and tell us.
- blakki, on 10/22/2007, -0/+0I just tested and everything worked fine
- FRAGaLOT, on 10/21/2007, -0/+1try it, and tell us.
- gumpy5, on 10/19/2007, -1/+1If you burn it to a DVD the load times are much faster than a CD.
- joper90, on 10/20/2007, -0/+3for max speed (your connection)

Here is another direct download link that is going at over 200 kb/s- morningrise, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2dead link :(
- heapoverflow, on 10/20/2007, -0/+0Sign up to the forum, think the file was moved due to direct links, there might be an alternative listed on their Beta Outpost forum section.
Edit: Yep, there is.

- brokencrystal, on 10/21/2007, -0/+1It was over 200 kb/s! Thanks for putting it on digg! Now it is -200 kb/s.
- morningrise, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2dead link :(
- ftgarcia, on 10/19/2007, -0/+4Well thanks to this downloadable demo disk coming out I was an hour late to work this morning. Had to play sick to get some play time in =-)
- iamchris, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1Awesome . . . Downloaded already and playing
- Lkr721993, on 10/29/2007, -2/+1site is down now
- santafr0g, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1No it's not
- WESMAN, on 10/29/2007, -1/+1The one system I don't have >:(
- Prototype91, on 10/21/2007, -0/+1Can someone tell me if I have to do anything to the file once its downloaded? or can i just burn it directly to the Disc?
- FRAGaLOT, on 10/21/2007, -0/+1it's an ISO image, but it might come as a compressed RAR file. Just burn the image to a CD or DVD as you do with any ISO file.
- UclaWill, on 10/20/2007, -0/+2Thank you so much for posting this! I'm an avid GH player, so this made my week. And so far, GH3 is great on its own terms. But I don't see how anyone can say (based on the demo) that "wow, this is so much better than GH2" when gameplay very much pales in comparison to its predecessor.
Main Problem: 1) Timing. Guitar Hero is a rhythym-based game. So yeah, timing is paramount! Yet the developers decided to over-liberalize the window of time in which a note can be "strum". Now, it's possible to pass a song (or at least muddle your way through one) without ever strumming the proper rhythym. In this respect, GH2 offered much 'tighter', more rewarding gameplay. 2) Similarly, the fretting is far too forgiving. The multiplier should not stay at 4X after fumbling your way through a difficult hammer-on or pull-off combination.
Minor Problems: 1) The notes move towards the strum line too slowly, creating a "squashed feel" on the note chart. Hopefully the 'hyperspeed cheat' will be available. 2) I liked the old rock power meter and multiplier much better. The "futuristic" theme looks weird. Improvements: Finally, a note counter! Sharper graphics.
Yes, this is just the demo. With the full version, I'm very excited about the prospect of online play, and the song list is amazing. These two elements will keep me coming back to GH3 time and time again while GH2 collects dust on my shelf. Still, the changes to the actual gameplay made by NeverSoft have left me quite disappointed. - yamyzaha, on 10/20/2007, -0/+0can someone give me a heads up on how long it takes to load the demo on a CD-R?
i don't wanna just sit and look at the dashboard all night lol- UclaWill, on 10/20/2007, -0/+0took mine about 45 seconds
- Nekura20x6, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1It worked for me - holy cow! I thought this was a complete hoax but am a big enough GH fan to give it a try!
You just have to burn the ISO to a CD-R and then pop it in your 360. The disk will show up as a "mixed media disc". Go to the Games blade and select Demos. You will see "Guitar Hero III". It does take a few minutes to load, but other than that it runs really smoothly.
I agree with some of the criticism. I was able to sightread a couple of the songs in Expert and get 5 stars, even though I know I wasn't hitting some of the fast running note sections in the solos. I even nailed some difficult star power tagged sections that I don't think I actually hit.
I really hope they didn't dumb the game down, especially on Expert. The GH2 controls were absolutely *perfect*! - busyrob, on 10/29/2007, -1/+0I played a couple of songs at my local Gamespot. I felt the timing was a little strange on Rock You Like a Hurricane. I kept missing really easy stuff. I played through The Metal fine. I don't think I missed a note in the solo, but the sound was turned down so low, I couldn't hear what was going on anyway. I thought I messed the whole solo up, too. So, I think they're allowing for people who just "kind-of-get-the-part-right" to not miss a note. =
- BabyWookie, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1Pearl Jam, "Even Flow", ***** yeah! I got 96% on this song, first time around. Wasn't on Easy either.
