- thcobbs, on 10/22/2007, -1/+6Get some red plastic wrap, some blue plastic wrap, a long rectangle of cardboard, some scissors, and go to town.
- shaun1018, on 10/22/2007, -1/+6Hi Mr. MacGuyver I'm a big fan.
- ungulate, on 10/22/2007, -0/+1I was just at Walgreen's, and there was a display with free 3D glasses for an upcoming episode of the Regis and not-Kathy Lee show. Seems like a good re-appropriation.
- sethosayher, on 10/22/2007, -0/+2I'm going to go buy some cereal and hope I find a pair.
- WITFITS, on 10/22/2007, -0/+3I'll see about putting up some side to side shots for parallel/cross-eyed viewing for anyone interested.
- WITFITS, on 10/22/2007, -0/+3Most of the same shots shown side to side (left and right reversed) for cross-eyed viewing for anyone interested:

- ke4znr, on 10/22/2007, -5/+6I need to travel back to the early 80's when 3D movies were all the rage :-) Good stuff though
- CharlesSaint007, on 10/23/2007, -3/+14Sorry, but when I look in my gmail inbox and see the words "Veronica Belmont has sent you a shout..", this story would pretty much have to be something about Paris Hilton or Lindsay Lohan for me not to digg it. It does, however, relieve my geek conscience to see that it's actually digg worthy regardless though, and I'm definitely going to have to rustle up some 3-D glasses.
- SatansMagicHat, on 10/23/2007, -2/+1You should really learn when not to speak.
- Mc_Carter, on 11/08/2007, -1/+49Is it sad that I have 3D glasses right next to my computer?
- barc0de, on 10/22/2007, -0/+4Well, if it is, then I am sad too
- LucasVB, on 10/28/2007, -0/+14No. In fact, I envy you.
- Xanium4332, on 10/22/2007, -0/+3at this moment in time, no...
- potterboy, on 10/23/2007, -0/+3Play the original quake with 3d glasses http://files.moddb.com/2643/download-anaglyph-ster ...
- Hoogs, on 10/22/2007, -0/+1I had 3D glasses next to my computer for the longest time during the days when I used to play "3D Dinosaur Adventure". I loved that game.
- WITFITS, on 10/28/2007, -0/+7If by "sad" you mean "totally awesome", then yes.
- buttsakk, on 10/28/2007, -1/+38Great, thats all we need in this world. 3-D Teabags...
- murf43143, on 10/22/2007, -1/+1LOL
- MidnightFox, on 10/23/2007, -3/+4linkv's Time sheet rule: Today I would like to sit on my couch, watch Star Trek, eat cheeseburgers and pet my cat. If what you are asking of me does not involve my couch, Star Trek, cheeseburgers, or my cat, then my time is billable. Do you still need a favor?
- peaceninja, on 10/23/2007, -5/+1The top of the digg's homepage originally had "10 ways digg could be greener", and then I refreshed the page and suddenly "Create Halo 3-D Screenshots" took its place (all the links below the top were the same). WTF digg?
- Disjunto, on 10/22/2007, -7/+1meh, i'll just go to the VR lab at uni and play halo 3 in 3D if i wanted to :P
- shortarabguy, on 10/28/2007, -0/+9I wish I was as cool as you clearly are.
- GawtMilk, on 10/22/2007, -0/+3Yeah, if they wanted to let you.
- Barf87, on 10/22/2007, -1/+2A tutorial would be nice.
- WITFITS, on 10/22/2007, -0/+1Been working on it, it'll be up today.
- dbr_onix, on 10/22/2007, -0/+1I could be way off, since this is based of something I gleamed from a video on stereoscopic video, but the basics are (simply):
Assuming your 3D glasses are red/cyan. Your left eye is covered by the red-filter, and the right by the cyan filter.
You take your right-side image (with the camera offset to the right), and copy the red-channel only (The channels tab/palette in Photoshop)
Open your 'left' image, paste the red channel into that image. That should be it.. I don't currently have Photoshop installed, or 3D glasses to verify, but that should be all there is to it..
To summarize, copy the red channel from right.jpg, into left.jpg.
- Schwab, on 10/23/2007, -6/+5Dugg down for no tutorial, because some of us aren't photoshop experts in stereo photography.
- BinaryMoon, on 10/22/2007, -0/+3To be fair the person who dugg this mentioned creating the screenshots. The original post just said - "here's a screenshot I made"
- murf43143, on 10/22/2007, -0/+1Not meant to teach you how, meant to show you what.... buried comment for not reading the tag...
- WITFITS, on 10/22/2007, -0/+1Right, I put up the original post just to say "Hey, I did this, check it out." The tutorial on how to do it will be up later today.
- joegibes, on 10/23/2007, -0/+1Take screen. Move camera a little to the right.
Open images in Photoshop. Make one red and one blue (make sure the right one corresponds to the opposite color of the filter of your glasses -- e.g. if right filter is blue, right image is red). Overlay them. Put on glasses. Trip out.
- BigLou, on 10/23/2007, -0/+2You know, why stop there? You can control the camera with video too, so why not just make a 3D video as well? That would be impressive.
- PookaMan, on 10/22/2007, -0/+1yeah, it would be so easy...but you would need to either need to be very good at using the camera or need to keep it stationary in all the shots or it would be off and i could imagine the videos getting kinda boring if the camera never moved...but they'd always be cool
- WITFITS, on 10/22/2007, -0/+1I thought about that, but the problem is you want the two camera views to not move with respect to each other. So, you either have to be very good at moving the camera in the same way both passes (nearly impossible) or you'd have to film something from one fixed position.
- DiggDugglas, on 10/28/2007, -0/+8You and your "third dimension"
- iuhiol, on 10/22/2007, -1/+0i shall have 2 video cards instead of the one
- Ramble, on 10/22/2007, -1/+1Looks pretty funky.
- chris9902, on 10/28/2007, -0/+9I thought this was going to be one of those Quicktime 3D images like you're in a box. That would be cool.
- godmode, on 10/22/2007, -0/+1There needs to be a cross-eyed 3D version. Who the heck owns 3D glasses?
- crashingechelon, on 10/22/2007, -0/+2I like the idea that Paulius or who ever commented in the post. He should have done them as regular stereographs instead the red and blue, which they really aren't that hard to do. Also, he could have done it like the Brendan said, do the stereograph like Paulius said but put the right image on the left and the left on the right and just cross your eyes. You'd have instant 3-d without the glasses and without the image distortion of the red and blue lenses.
- Hoogs, on 10/22/2007, -0/+1Oook, now where exactly does it tell how you can make your screenshots 3D? The description led me to believe there was a tutorial included...
- tyywebb, on 10/22/2007, -0/+2Comment FTA: "Any Halo 3 fun love riding motorcycle? Lovebiker.com is the best and hottest biker dating site. We are chatting Halo 3 and motorcycle there." WTF??
- WITFITS, on 10/22/2007, -0/+3Spam. Deleted.
- Dracusis, on 10/22/2007, -4/+2You can do this with any game that allows you to create screenshots, but because it's Halo 3 it makes ti to the front page?
Sheep.... mindless sheep....- stellarceltic, on 10/22/2007, -3/+1Douchebag.... pathetic douchebag....
- daurkin, on 10/22/2007, -2/+2If he called this Halo 3-D, does that mean Halo 4 is damned to hell like what Duke Nukem 3-D did to Duke Nukem 4.
- eightyd, on 10/22/2007, -1/+1this is a little too nerdy, even for me
- phoenixdig, on 10/22/2007, -0/+1Those are some of the better red blue 3D images I have ever seen. Very impressed.
- Keimatsu, on 10/22/2007, -0/+1Dammit, I need to get me some 3D glasses now....
- v4vishal, on 10/22/2007, -0/+1http://www.amazon.com/3-Red-Blue-Anaglyphic-Glasse ...
- rochdale, on 10/22/2007, -1/+0Without control over the frustum parameters for each eye, this isn't in any way proper stereo. This is a crude toe-in approach.
http://local.wasp.uwa.edu.au/~pbourke/exhibition/v ...- WITFITS, on 10/23/2007, -0/+3Not true. Toe-in is done by point both the left and right camera at the subject. Here I am moving the (virtual) camera parallel to the subject. I am simply replicating in the virtual environment the same thing you do with actual cameras in the real world to take stereo photographs. Frustrums are only relevant when trying to use a graphics language to generate the 3-D stereo pairs.
- Thr33Larg3, on 10/23/2007, -0/+2Rochdale,
While I don't know you, I do know 3-D graphics.
It appears to me as though every single word that you typed is completely inaccurate, whereas I agree with WITFITS' assessment that this is proper stereo.
A more immature way to say this would be, I believe, to say, "pwnd?"
Nice work, WITFITS!
- sowhat5828, on 10/23/2007, -0/+1Oh Man I just broke my 3-D glasses yesterday. Lucky for me I had a backup pair
- WITFITS, on 10/24/2007, -0/+1I posted a tutorial about how to make 3D shots from Halo 3 (both red/cyan and crosseyed) for interested parties.
