Grand Theft Auto IV The ONLY Version is the Xbox 360 Version
bingegamer.net — When it comes down to choosing whether or not you will be buying the Xbox 360 version of GTAIV, or the PS3 version....... there really is no choice, the 360 version is the definitive version. Custom Soundtracks, Achievements, Controller, Xbox Live, Exclusive Downloadable Content.

Achievements = Acomplishments on PS3...not a buy factor, for either console.
Controller = Most people played previous GTA games on Playstation
Xbox Live/Exclusive Downloadable Content = PSN is free, may get its own exclusive content on PS3.
I don't think it really matters what console you buy it for, they should be about equal.- taxman, on 04/09/2008, -9/+16"hopefully In-Game XMB comes out in the next couple months","PSN is free, may get its own exclusive content on PS3."
Sounds like an abused wife , who puts up with her husband and hopes for better times they had long long time back.
But seriously, you are just hoping for exclusive contents on the PS3. Its not announced nor is there a high chance of it being exclusive. Its like me saying that the 360 may get GTA IV: Vice city stories exclusively. Stick to the fact and opinions. Not made up BS.- mywhitenoise, on 04/10/2008, -14/+9"Sounds like an abused wife , who puts up with her husband and hopes for better times they had long long time back. "
Funny, im not the one on my 3rd or 4th 360 because it keeps getting the RROD.- shelbygt33, on 04/10/2008, -3/+6Nor am I, but I do own a 360.
- shelbygt33, on 05/11/2008, -0/+1Better late than never - I bought the ps3 version after all. Just seemed... prettier?

- Azimuth1, on 04/10/2008, -10/+12"Most people played previous GTA games on Playstation" - So? That doesn't mean that the 360 controller isn't better.
"PSN is free, may get its own exclusive content on PS3." - Microsoft wouldn't have paid $50,000,000 for something that Sony can just get for free.
"hopefully In-Game XMB comes out in the next couple months" - Hopefully I win the lottery tomorrow. But I'm not going to rely on it.
There is literally no reason why someone with both consoles should buy the PS3 version. The only people who should buy it are people who don't have a 360. - estvir, on 04/10/2008, -8/+9Your list was completely unconvincing and half of the things are just hopeful wishes.
Try again.

- sanwedgy, on 04/09/2008, -13/+7On the DLC side it is really a case of wait and see what the exclusive stuff is and if its worth the money before you start singing its praises.
What every version you get you know they will be trying to see if they can sell you 2 new cars for $10

They also gave every failed machine a free fix -- now, if Sony would give me 3 repaired PS2s for the 3 failed PS2s I have in my closet.
Besides, the heat issues were resolved last year -- june 07ish -- when the mother boards underwent major revisions.
New machines dont have the heat issues. Your FUD is old.

- mywhitenoise, on 04/10/2008, -9/+11Also... "A possible situation on the extra time for the the Xbox 360 is by benefiting from better graphics. Look at a lot of the multiconsole releases, Devil May Cry 4, Call of Duty 4, even Lost Planet, a port they had all the time in the world to work on, all these games in the end are just plain better looking"
Didn't COD4 and DMC4 have a slight graphical edge on the PS3? Not that you can really tell anyway, all multi-platform games LOOK THE SAME!- shelbygt33, on 04/10/2008, -1/+7I don't necessarily think that CoD4 looks better on the ps3 (own the 360 version, rented the ps3 version for the heck of it). As you said, they look the same to me.
- JackHarkness, on 04/10/2008, -2/+1I'm guessing on your 20" sdtv even a videophille couldn't tell. but on my 62" Hdtv you can really tell the difference.
- shelbygt33, on 05/01/2008, -0/+1Yup, you got me. I'm actually playing on my 15" Zenith Black and White - you can bet how impressed I was after I went from a UHF connection to RCA Cables - the lighting and contrast really improved!

- Nobi-Wan, on 04/10/2008, -2/+5I don't notice any difference between the PS3 and 360 version. I do like the simplicity and effortlessness that the Xbox 360 version utilizes when playing online games, though.

- Enron1985, on 04/10/2008, -10/+6North American kids are so desperate to be told that they are doing a good job, this is where "achievements" come in.
- NaziHatinChimp, on 04/10/2008, -8/+3duh
- xTRUMANx, on 04/10/2008, -8/+9Wow, this is one of those posts where I skim through since the blatant bias is blinding. The only significant difference is the exclusive content. But I know people who don't even have xbox live and have no intention on spending money on extra content. As for achievements... give me a break. Most people who would be enticed by achievements would of attempted to get 100% even if there were no achievements system in place (not to mention there is a similar system in place on the PS3). The controller reason is subjective. As for the custom soundtracks, I really don't find it deal breaker. With a game like GTA track record for its soundtrack, I'm not sure if most people would be too disappointed with a lack of custom soundtracks.

> exclusive downloadable "episodes" for the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV"
http://blog.wired.com/games/2007/06/take_two_gets_ ...
And, here from ArsTechnica:
*The answer solved the mystery of the downloadable content: it will be 360 only...the first episodic content package that’s supposed to go out and that is in March of '08. That’s why it moved into current because it’s in the next 12 months...the second episodic, the episode, and that will be later in fiscal '08.

- santasing, on 04/10/2008, -10/+7I think I will take the better graphics on the PS3, plus the chance to be able to play MGS, LBP and FF, thanks you very much.
And of course, I like to be have my consoles keep on working and not worry abuout how my console will die, red ring of death or red light of death.- wageslaven, on 04/10/2008, -6/+9"I think I will take the better graphics on the PS3"
Almost every single multi-platform to-date has shown that the Xbox 360 has a better version. The graphics, frame-rate, stability, loading time. You're talking out your arse.
"plus the chance to be able to play MGS, LBP and FF, thanks you very much"
Final Fantasy without Hironobu Sakaguchi is FF in name only. That said, there are exceptional exclusive Xbox 360 exclusives that you'll also not be playing. Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey come to mind since you seem interested in JRPG, oh, and they are done by Hironobu Sakaguchi. And there is a 3rd JRPG and a MMOJRPG from Mistwalker coming.
" my consoles keep on working and not worry abuout how my console will die, red ring of death or red light of death."
New consoles have had the heat issues fixed, in the middle of last year. Any console that has a problem gets fixed -- for FREE. Clearly you never owned a PS2, if only Sony would fix the 3 broken PS2s I have in the closet.
Oh, one more thing about JRPG, Square Enix is making Last Remnant multi-plat and triACE is making Infinite Undiscovery exclusively for Xbox 360. You can bet that Square cares *far more* for the success of Last Remnant because it is going to ship to the Xbox 360 which is twice the install of PS3.- krische, on 04/10/2008, -1/+3Uh, have you not seen the latest multi-console releases? COD4, Devil May Cry 4, Rainbow Six 2? All of those look the same on both consoles.
- JackHarkness, on 04/10/2008, -1/+3actually they were better on the ps3. those test didn't have full color and brightness turned on. and were done on 720p. not exactly fair on the ps3. however I think all the latest games have let the 360 on pare with the ps3.(or they sabotaged the ps3 version)
- wageslaven, on 04/10/2008, -6/+9"I think I will take the better graphics on the PS3"
- evozero, on 04/10/2008, -3/+8That article is so incredibly one sided it's no wonder this is quickly becoming another my box vs your box pissing contest.
- terminalpariah, on 04/10/2008, -2/+10I'm a huge 360 fanboy and even I'm not interested in this BS article. Just play the game on your platform of choice and have a great time.
- repick3, on 04/10/2008, -4/+5This article seems kinda like its only purpose was to put down the PS3, not give info about GTA IV. I mean c'mon, when the author threw in that part about headsets it was kind of ridiculous. Half the people playing Xbox live don't use their headset unless they are
A. talking to a friend who is either in the same game or in a private chat channel.
B. Talking *****.
C. 12 years old.
D. Telling B. and C. to stfu. - jimbojim, on 04/10/2008, -4/+2I bought my PS3 in the summer when the price dropped to $500. What a waste of money. I ended up getting Warhawk for it... played it for a month until Halo came out... then 360 keeps pumping out games while my PS3 collects dust. I probably won't even turn it back on until MGS4 comes out... that'll make it about a full year without playing it.
- OrdinaryPanda, on 04/10/2008, -2/+2People who are saying they aren't interested in the DLC are saying this before they see the credits roll on GTA4 with no more story to play, and the reality sinks in that they will end up short-changed when all is said and done.
- santasing, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1What is this DLC you are talking about. I wanna know the details of what I am getting. So far, its only empty promises. There are no details about what people will be getting with the DLC.
- SEGA4life, on 04/10/2008, -4/+3Forgot to mention the 50 minute 8-10gig mandatory install on the PS3.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v196/SeGa4life/L ...
To put it into perspective, that will turn a 40gig PS3 to a 30gig PS3 for one game, wonder what MGS4 will be like.
And after you beat the game on the PS3 your done, nothing left, but people on the 360 still have more to play, MORE of the Best game to play, how would that not be a factor in purchase?
Also game Dev's Love Achievements because it adds : "Reply Value". Game Dev's want people to play their games as much as possible, and achievements add that little bump to games that make people play more and more to get those extra points.
Just like the high score in old arcade games that mad people pump in the quarters same applies here.- etgoboom, on 04/10/2008, -1/+3Nothing Left??? GTA is a series known for its near infinite replay value. I assume you have never completed any of them.
- Sedako, on 04/10/2008, -1/+1"And after you beat the game on the PS3 your done, nothing left, but people on the 360 still have more to play, MORE of the Best game to play, how would that not be a factor in purchase?"
You're forgetting about the multiplayer. Plus, there is always something else to do in GTA after you beat the all the missions... collect packages you may have missed, explore the city/countryside, just drive around... and considering GTA4 will have many buildings with internal areas, it will most likely be a lot more vast as far as exploration than all the previous games. No one still has any idea what the exclusive xbox content is anyways.. Regardless, once the PC version is released, both the Xbox360 and PS3 versions will be rendered obsolete. Never underestimate the power of the modding community.- SEGA4life, on 04/10/2008, -1/+1Sorry but GTA gets repetitive. All free roam games do, like Saints Row.
I rely on story, playing GTA with driving around, shooting people keeps me occupied for a bit before I get bored.- Sedako, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2All games get repetitive... However, I've logged many hours on the previous GTA games just messing around. There are probably many others enjoy the series in the same way. Like I said, we don't even know what the exclusive content is, it may not even be story related.
