IGN: 10 Albums That Need to Be on Rock Band
music.ign.com — But this awesome push into the realm of album downloads got us thinking: What other LPs would we like to jam out to in our living room?

let's be constructive, and provide streaming/download links- KingBabi, on 06/22/2008, -4/+89Fall-out boy doesn't deserve constructive criticism.
They deserve to be beaten mercilessly by a lunatic brandishing a dildo. You know, for poetic justice.- burnin8r28, on 06/22/2008, -2/+16they have one song on rock band already and it SUCKS
- Nitesmoke, on 06/22/2008, -2/+18This list lost me at number 1. With all the great rock albums since the 70's and later they had to brag about how My Chemical Romance made it all the way to 22 on the charts? 22? Haha
- iamnobody8614, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1Actually, the poster linked to the fourth page, but yeah I get your point.
- Twoodge, on 06/22/2008, -1/+54As above. Whoever wrote this needs to go back to his MySpace.
- iChaz, on 06/22/2008, -0/+6that's some true poetic justice.
- burnin8r28, on 06/22/2008, -3/+22fall out boy sucks
- nahteecirp, on 06/22/2008, -9/+7The amount of FOB bashing that happens surprises me a bit. While the singles are so-so (actually, this aint a scene sucks. Why the hell they made that a single, and why the hell they put it in Rock Band is beyond me.) Both Under the Cork Tree and Infinity on High are good pop records, particularly the songs that /werent/ singles. I would recommend songs like "7 minutes in Heaven (Atavan Halen)" and "Fame < Infamy". I wouldn't compare it to a Pearl Jam or Nirvana level of goodness, but enjoyable to listen to. I can understand MCR bashing, since they are basically emo in its purest form, like it or not. Each man to his own though.
- Coffeedemon, on 06/22/2008, -1/+9FOB is pre-packaged rebelllion subsidized by hair product companies.
- mywhitenoise, on 06/22/2008, -1/+3I think IGN should stick to reviewing games, they really don't know anything about music, as they have proven week after week in their music section. Some of the albums on the list would be cool (Pumpkins, Soundgarden, Weezer), but Fallout Boy, Disturbed and My Chemical Romance are horrible. In fact I'd pay if there was DLC to remove the Fallout Boy song from the game. I think these are 10 accessible and mainstream albums that would be great for Rock Band...
At The Drive-In - Relationship of Command
Built to Spill - Keep It Like A Secret
Cure - Head on the Door
Nada Surf - High/Low
New Order - Power Corruption and Lies
QOTSA - R
Radiohead - The Bends
Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie
Talking Heads - Remain in Light
Weezer - Blue- FountainOfTruth, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1I'd pay money for Nada Surf on Rock Band.
- KingBabi, on 06/22/2008, -4/+89Fall-out boy doesn't deserve constructive criticism.
- Lososaurus, on 06/22/2008, -14/+5I'd ask for an X Japan compilation more than anything, but I wouldn't want to try and sing the songs so I guess that makes my request moot(unless they could get vocal-less versions).
I just love metal and some good ol' rock; Some stuff along the lines of more Iron Maiden(yes, even more) and Paul Gilbert.- twiztidsinz, on 06/22/2008, -2/+2X Japan ftw
Glad to see them having some moderate success over here, been listening to them since a year before HIDE passed.
- twiztidsinz, on 06/22/2008, -2/+2X Japan ftw
- coltrane68, on 06/22/2008, -12/+82Meh.
Some alternatives:
Rolling Stones/Beggars Banquet
Iggy & Stooges/Raw Power
Sex Pistols/Never Mind the Bollocks
Guided by Voices/Alien Lanes (on second thought, might be tough for Rock Band)
Jesus & Mary Chain/Stoned & Dethroned
Luna/Penthouse
Frank Zappa/Hot Rats- Gav0510, on 06/22/2008, -4/+10JAMC and the Stooges would go down well. That said your username makes me wish they'd bring out Jazz Band and you could tackle A Love Supreme.
- colincattral, on 06/22/2008, -1/+6Jazz Band would be pretty awesome. Aside from the lack of market share, unfortunately there would be two huge problems. 1 - The need for more instruments. 2 - Difficulty. Could you imagine playing in odd times like 13/4, man that would tough. That and the solos are way harder than those found in other genres.
- Alucard90, on 06/23/2008, -1/+2There is something called Electronic Wind Instrument (EWI) and Electronic Valve Instrument(EVI) that has been used as sort of a saxophone and trumpet synthesizer that you blow through. Just remove the synth and make a less variable breath sensor, and then it is quite feasible both playability and cost.Simply have push buttons connected to a dual state based breath sensor that tells whether or not breath is going in at all.
- colincattral, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1I know, I own one and use it primarily as a midi controller. It's pretty amazing. Unfortunately, even if a game controller were to be made based on an ewi, it would not have the same allure as a guitar. Somehow I can't imagine the majority of people getting a thrill out of playing through John Coltrane, Michael Brecker, or Chris Potter solos.
Perhaps they could just add Pat Metheny's Roots of Coincidence as a downloadable song. It's a jazz song that won a Grammy for rock song of the year in 1997. Maybe targeting people through video games could be a way for jazz to gain a larger market share. They have a jazz station in GTA 4, it's all old stuff. But Coltrane and Rollins are timeless so it doesn't really matter. - TheBEAST205, on 06/24/2008, -0/+2I know the Jazz station on GTA has a song by Coletrain, but it doesn't have any by Miles does it? Miles runs the Voodoo down would be a great song to kill innocent bystanders to.
- crazybrit, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1Or Carlos Santana and John Mclaughlin's cover of it.
- colincattral, on 06/22/2008, -1/+6Jazz Band would be pretty awesome. - iChaz, on 06/22/2008, -4/+6thank you. for god's sake, some other people with a solid taste in music. that list made me sadly think of 'the 10 best albums chosen by geeks with no music taste and a unique vocabulary'
- codercaff, on 06/22/2008, -2/+8I can't say I agree with the others, but dugg for Zappa. "Peaches En Regalia" has the sweetest melody ever.
- TheBEAST205, on 06/23/2008, -0/+2QFT!
Hot Rats is one of my favorite albums ever; I'd have to say I enjoy Willie the Pimp the most, but every song is awesome.
- TheBEAST205, on 06/23/2008, -0/+2QFT!
- antiorblkflag9, on 06/22/2008, -0/+3Guided By Voices is amazing. Alien Lanes would be kinda hard, why not Bee Thousand though?
- chicken59, on 06/22/2008, -0/+2Nice list, Luna would be a lot of fun.
- FBombAndy, on 06/22/2008, -1/+2Queens of the Stone Age - Over the Years and Through the Woods. The live version of No One Knows would be fun. Also has some older songs with incredible drum parts, and newer solos.
- SpongeBrain, on 06/22/2008, -2/+1I would love to play any Guided by Voices album on Rock Band...
But, are Guided by Voices popular enough to be on it? Probably not.
Hey, who here thinks Trout Mask Replica would be the best on Rock Band (not saying thats popular enough either)? - EatingPie, on 06/22/2008, -5/+2Surprisingly, nobody -- not even the article -- talks about how Van Halen's 1st album changed the sound of rock music even till today. That shredding, high-pitched, whiny guitar sound ushered in by Van Halen has been used by almost every rock band since. Steve Vai and Joe Satriana are the two most obvious. Even those in other genres.
But in terms of games, the lack of Eruption in Guitar Hero? The most famous "solo" guitar song of the '80s? Wow. Oversight.
-Pie- TheBEAST205, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1Shredding is absolutely horrible, it's the worst thing that's ever happened to guitars. Its quite easy to do but sounds hard so the idiots who don't know anything about guitar think you're amazing. Steve Vai also isn't much of a shredder; his more jazz based albums like "Sex and Religion" sound very good.
- mcfly99, on 06/22/2008, -0/+3Louder than Love is the Soundgarden album they wanna go with? I love Soundgarden, but I'd have to go with Badmotorfinger.
- SucKerS4Me, on 06/23/2008, -0/+3Led Zep, Beatles, Mudvayne, or good songs!? I'm not impressed w/ Rock Bands songs..
- mastazed, on 06/23/2008, -1/+1Jesus & Mary Chain = BEST
they just don't get the credibility they deserve, but to be honest i prefer that. - Wolfgarden, on 06/23/2008, -0/+4How about Deloused In the Comatorium
- TheBEAST205, on 06/23/2008, -0/+2Someone knows their music... DITC is one of my most favorite albums ever and it's perfect for Rock Band. All of the instruments would be very challenging (especially singing and guitar) nothing would make me happier than to play this album on Rock Band.
- PeckerSlap, on 06/23/2008, -0/+3great album indeed
- squirmalicious, on 06/24/2008, -0/+2That would be an instabuy for me.
- Gav0510, on 06/22/2008, -4/+10JAMC and the Stooges would go down well. That said your username makes me wish they'd bring out Jazz Band and you could tackle A Love Supreme.
- volacide, on 06/22/2008, -21/+12Oh well, might as well through my 1 cent into the ring of music preference... (avoiding some of the obvious ones)
Rage Against The Machine/Rage Against The Machine
Incubus/Light Grenades
Linkin Park/Hybrid Theory
Queens of the Stone Age/Songs for the Deaf
The White Stripes/Elephant... or something else... tough decision to pick one
Audioslave/Audioslave (chris has such great vocals, too bad he's a douche)
and some weird ones...
Team Sleep and The Cardigans.- carpespasm, on 06/22/2008, -1/+6I'd much prefer your list to the article's. Late night drunk RATM Rock Banding would be truly enjoyable.
- innocentsinner, on 06/22/2008, -2/+4Very good list. And even though I hate Linkin Park, I still think they'd be a fun band to have in the game.
- antiorblkflag9, on 06/22/2008, -7/+3Pretty crappy list except for The White Stripes.
- volacide, on 06/22/2008, -3/+1How can you say that about RATM. Very sad. Very very sad.
- antiorblkflag9, on 06/22/2008, -2/+1-see above-
- volacide, on 06/22/2008, -3/+1How can you say that about RATM. Very sad. Very very sad.
- rhesusattack, on 06/22/2008, -6/+157This list sucks and so does IGN. Any time recently that I've visited their site in any context or listened to any of their number of podcasts, I can't help but feel this immense disconnect between them and the gaming community at large.
- dounce87, on 06/22/2008, -6/+3I second that...whenever IGN comes up with a stupid list like this one they always blow...get some of the good classic rock like some Journey, Foreigner, REO Speedwagon, Def Leppard, etc.
- bagelmaster, on 06/22/2008, -3/+9Your list sucks too.
- dounce87, on 06/23/2008, -0/+0i see all you do is critisize people's lists....where's yours at then music god?
- MorpheousMarty, on 06/22/2008, -0/+3You didn't specify what exactly you didn't like about IGN but check out sarcasticgamer.com. They may be more your style.
- nksoccer13, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1I would also recommend 1up.com, they have a great group of podcasts, editorials, and interesting takes on events. I'm probably biased but I love how the site is an amalgamation of video game magazines that I read growing up into one site (EGM, GFW, etc).
- foolfoolz, on 06/23/2008, -0/+0IGN are internet sellouts.
- dounce87, on 06/22/2008, -6/+3I second that...whenever IGN comes up with a stupid list like this one they always blow...get some of the good classic rock like some Journey, Foreigner, REO Speedwagon, Def Leppard, etc.
- shadowmoose, on 06/22/2008, -11/+290My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy in the same list as Jane's Addiction, Soundgarden, and AC DC? Wow... IGN... just wow.
- Spuy767, on 06/22/2008, -4/+26I concur, I felt violated to read AC/DC on the same list as Fall Out Boy.
- darksheer, on 06/22/2008, -4/+20Topic buried for saying that anything Fall Out Boy has ever done is fit for human consumption. Honestly you could have suggested Ashley Simpson and I'd have been less offended.
- Myonosken, on 06/22/2008, -1/+8Well FOB are in Ashley Simpson...
>)
- Myonosken, on 06/22/2008, -1/+8Well FOB are in Ashley Simpson...
- bagelmaster, on 06/22/2008, -22/+1ACDC blows donkey balls, but I feel offended seeing Soundgarden in there...and to a lesser extent Jane's Addiction.
- nathanwalker, on 06/22/2008, -1/+8I logged in just to bury you.
How dare you say anything bad about AC/DC. - Baronvontito1, on 06/22/2008, -1/+2Ditto.
- justice7, on 06/23/2008, -0/+2Same here, logged in to bury you. ACDC rocks.
- nathanwalker, on 06/22/2008, -1/+8I logged in just to bury you.
- GJBlizzard, on 06/22/2008, -0/+3Well to be fair it is AC/DC with Brian Johnson.
- fusion1, on 06/22/2008, -0/+8If there is a god why doesn't he kill people who create stuff like my chemical romance, and ign
- mcfly99, on 06/22/2008, -1/+3Jane Says..."I'm done with IGN."
- StarExtreme, on 06/23/2008, -0/+6My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy... realy? REALY?! Wow.. can someone kill them soon?
- justice7, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1hopefully by them being killed doesn't spike their career like it has done for so many other musicians.
- ericrous, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1They would kill themselves, but emos only do FAKE suicide attempts.
- stagbeetle, on 06/22/2008, -10/+22Doesn't matter.... Mellon Collie on that list made my day...
- jasepower, on 06/22/2008, -2/+12Mellon Collie is cool because it's a double album, but I'd much rather have Siamese Dream.
- chromehound47, on 06/22/2008, -0/+2Mellon Collie is fantastic, but I'd almost rather have a distilled pack from it, say 10-12 songs. There's a lot in there that wouldn't be so much fun for rock band.
- diggymow, on 06/22/2008, -16/+261My Chemical Romance? Buried.
- antiorblkflag9, on 06/22/2008, -2/+17As soon as I saw that the list lost all credibility.
- getmeawhopper, on 06/22/2008, -0/+9My Chemical Romance? WTF, x tab quick!!
- pe5t1lence, on 06/22/2008, -2/+7I couldn't even bring myself to click on another page after "Self-possesive Roofie Prom Night" , but I did see Back in Black at the bottom. Not that I have anything against AC/DC per se, just that their songs would be so damn boring to play. They are all just the same riff over and over.
- eggsovereasy, on 06/22/2008, -2/+4But Fallout Boy is ok... really?
- GrimPraetorian, on 06/22/2008, -0/+2Muted the sound when i had to play it
- diggymow, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1I just saw MCR and then closed the list.
- doshindude, on 06/22/2008, -0/+2MCR? OH GOD NO!!! NO NO NO NO!
- mcfly99, on 06/22/2008, -0/+2Seriously...spare me with the My Chemical Romance.
- thez0rk, on 06/22/2008, -2/+136Too much trouble to link to the FIRST page of the article?
- Papajohn56, on 06/22/2008, -0/+34probably already submitted
- las3rjock, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1http://digg.com/xbox/IGN_10_Albums_That_Need_to_Be ... links to the first page of the article. Burying this submission as a duplicate story.
- chokeaduck, on 06/22/2008, -4/+3And why do articles such as these and cracked have to be split up into multiple pages? Stupid advertisers, I have adblock already, it's not like I'm going to see the ads either way.
- umbepo, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1So we go from worst to best, like a countdown.. It still sucked.
- Papajohn56, on 06/22/2008, -0/+34probably already submitted
- Garlik, on 06/22/2008, -12/+131Buried for MCR and FOB
- pe5t1lence, on 06/22/2008, -14/+3Going dowtow ina Turalura, baby I'm going down singing. I beer another one with a bullet, a lonely dark ***** that's goin' and pulling.
Going da- da (Da-da)
Going da- da (Da-da)
Going da- da (Da-da)
A lonely dark ***** that's goin' and pulling.- Myonosken, on 06/22/2008, -3/+2Thats some amazing lyrics. Such beautiful imagery and use of the language.
- Misanthrope, on 06/24/2008, -1/+1That's not the actual lyrics. You're ***** retarded.
- Myonosken, on 06/22/2008, -3/+2Thats some amazing lyrics. Such beautiful imagery and use of the language.
- GhettoHmbrglr, on 06/22/2008, -14/+1Buried for variety?
- pe5t1lence, on 06/22/2008, -14/+3Going dowtow ina Turalura, baby I'm going down singing. I beer another one with a bullet, a lonely dark ***** that's goin' and pulling.
- AppleGeorge, on 06/22/2008, -8/+100Buried for complete garbage like Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, and whatever other garbage was on the list.
- Rudegar, on 06/22/2008, -6/+1the macc lads - no sheep til buxton ;)
- sarchosis, on 06/22/2008, -6/+94Christ I hope not; Disturbed, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy? No, thanks.
- theexitwound, on 06/22/2008, -1/+7How about something with actual guitar leads to play? I'd be dead bored on anything but the drums on these discs.
Bring on the Van Halen, Soundgarden and AC/DC though! - chiefbandit2200, on 06/22/2008, -2/+1Buried for the exact bands you named... Wtf was this guy thinking?
- MrFisty, on 06/22/2008, -1/+3Urgh. Ditch Disturbed. Replace with Mastodon's Blood Mountain, Faith No More's King For A Day, T.Rex's Electric Warrior and Kyuss's Blues for the Red Sun.
- theexitwound, on 06/22/2008, -1/+7How about something with actual guitar leads to play? I'd be dead bored on anything but the drums on these discs.
- phillykid162, on 06/22/2008, -15/+80MCR? ***** outta here.... They should include "Origin of Symmetry" by Muse.... and everything else by Muse.
- tvnation, on 06/22/2008, -0/+8too ***** true
- boydrew, on 06/22/2008, -0/+6Absolutely man, I said absolution would be friggin sweet
- innocentsinner, on 06/22/2008, -0/+8Oh God, yes.
- Noncentz, on 06/22/2008, -1/+8truly words of Widsome.... Do I hear "Knights of Cydonia"
- travisMarc, on 06/22/2008, -1/+2anyone who has played it on Guitar Hero knows knights would be impossible with that ***** thing rock band calls a strum bar...I'd be sending it back for another repair after two times thru
- fpaudon, on 06/22/2008, -0/+7Plug in Baby, Bliss, New Born, Knights of Cydonia, Sunburn, and Showbiz in Rock Band. I think I just mind orgasmed.
Though it would be problematic to match Matthew Bellamy's falsetto - lunachique, on 06/22/2008, -0/+4Anything off the Absolution album!
- iDMG, on 06/22/2008, -0/+3Having Hysteria is nice but I really want more Muse and I really hate having to pay 500 MS Points for three tracks only guitar and bass on GH when I can pay 440 for the whole band in Rock Band
- Ramenamen, on 06/22/2008, -0/+2Just the thought of New Born or Plug in Baby makes me insanely happy.
- Mcam55, on 06/22/2008, -9/+67rockband needs some Pearl Jam
- Vikaas, on 06/22/2008, -2/+38At least if they put a disturbed album on there, you could learn one song and be really good at the rest.
- gravesg, on 06/22/2008, -18/+5..wtf Wheres DAFT PUNK??? dugg down for not even mentioning daft punk.
- phillykid162, on 06/22/2008, -1/+10I like Daft Punk but it's Rock Band, look out for electronica band rofl
- gravesg, on 06/22/2008, -2/+1LOL .. still daft has aerodynamic . that qualifies yes ?
- phillykid162, on 06/22/2008, -1/+4***** now that you mention it, Aerodynamic would be awesome. XD
- IronPwnage, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1This is top 10 ALBUMS, not one song from an album which would be good.
- mywhitenoise, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1No. There aren't any vocals in Aerodynamic. Digital Love is the only one that would suit the game perfectly, and maybe Harder Better Faster Stronger.
- gravesg, on 06/22/2008, -2/+1LOL .. still daft has aerodynamic . that qualifies yes ?
- innocentsinner, on 06/22/2008, -0/+4Yea, I'd love to do vocals for "Around the World"
- Urbanninja622, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1Personally Daft Punk on Rock Band would blow my ***** mind. But really what the hell IGN, MCR and FOB? There is so much better music that what they put on that list
- phillykid162, on 06/22/2008, -1/+10I like Daft Punk but it's Rock Band, look out for electronica band rofl
- murphy11211, on 06/22/2008, -10/+57Gotta have some Tool. I'd love some Schism or 46 & 2. Also MOAR METAL, guitar hero 3 flirted with some metal with the in flames and kill switch engage....I'd cream my pants for some Dark Tranquility/Disarmonia Mundi/Parkway Drive.
- phillykid162, on 06/22/2008, -5/+27Tool= Win
- thundacracka, on 06/22/2008, -4/+28***** Yes, Tool! I need Aenima or Lateralus!
- mickhead, on 06/22/2008, -5/+11And some perfect circle too.
- carpespasm, on 06/22/2008, -3/+6Some Tool would be fantastic, but I'm okay with metal being farther down the to-do list (unless it's DethKlok!)
- DTJunkie07, on 06/22/2008, -1/+4I would love to play the drums to ticks and leaches...and sing it for that matter lol
- catalysis, on 06/22/2008, -1/+5The official response from Tool on their website to an email asking for this was "Nice ***** try guy."
- Coffeedemon, on 06/22/2008, -0/+9Sort of: (from the guy who runs toolband.com aparently)
" Believe me, I've been desperately trying to convince them ever since the game came out... calling... emailing... sending text messages... calling. Yep, we're on the same page, bro... "Guitar Hero"/karaoke.... love it all! And how about all those people wasting their f***ing time trying to learn how to play a real instrument! Or write an original song! Virtual, baby, virtual band... that's where it's at... Instrument peripherals and over-f***in-drive score multipliers! Those squiggly-looking things scrolling on the screen... Badass tattoos... adjustable hair and body physiques... Don't know about you, but I'm currently on a world tour, playing endless set lists and spending tons of cash in the rock shop. All I can say is that hopefully someday the guys in the band will give their consent, and then we'll all be rocking out in the irised spotlight! I know I'd be all over that like dingleberries on an armless... Oh... also, dude, you might want to put the band's music on an iPod or something... an MP3 player, seeing how you keep having to buy new cds and stuff.
(Note: If anyone detects a hint of sarcasm, it's only because I suspect the e-mailer might just be the president of MTV Games, or who ever it is that makes Rock Band. Nice f***ing try guy). "
Tool are obviously far too deep in the "arteest" realm to consider such whoring.
- Coffeedemon, on 06/22/2008, -0/+9Sort of: (from the guy who runs toolband.com aparently)
- darkcss, on 06/22/2008, -0/+7LATERALUS
- YouandWhoseArmy, on 06/22/2008, -2/+2Williamsburg zipcode eh? I didn't know hipsters used digg.
- bagelmaster, on 06/22/2008, -11/+1Tool is ***** terrible.
- dylio, on 06/22/2008, -1/+3Rosetta Stoned, Ticks and Leeches, Lateralus, or The Grudge would be hard as hell on the drums. It'd be worth it though.
- JasonMath, on 06/22/2008, -2/+1I would add in the album "Hate Crew Deathroll" by "Children Of Bodom" (melodic death metal).
- Amuhlou82, on 06/24/2008, -1/+0Tool is awesome but umm.. their music is HARD because of their insane musicianship.
- VIPAccess, on 06/22/2008, -0/+57Pretty ***** list. If you're going to make a "dream list" at the very least include Led Zeppelin and The Beatles, regardless if it could ever happen.
- pjdk28, on 06/22/2008, -4/+1If i ever see led zeppelin featured (rather blasphemed) in a guitar hero/rockband game i will go on a massive murder-geno-suicide at activision. I promise
- tvnation, on 06/22/2008, -9/+33why the f*** did this get digged. take off those sad excuses for music , such as mcr and fob and put on more stuff like absolution and nine inch nails stuff .more metal too
- VgRasta, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1I have trouble pronouncing words with asterisks.
- gothelium, on 06/22/2008, -6/+24The one included song by Fallout Boy is already too much from that ***** band. This list sucked. Where the hell was Tool's 'Lateralus' on that list? Pearl Jam's 'Ten'?
- johnbobshaun, on 06/22/2008, -0/+28I'm sure the opening song on Mellon Collie would be great on Rock Band. What with it being an instrumental piano piece.
- zerock, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1 maybe they can bring it for RB2 and have keyboards on the game....or maybe not.
- frell69, on 06/22/2008, -8/+28Epic Fail for Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance. Needs some Alice in Chains, more Faith No More, Dropkick Murphys, Robert Randolph, Queen, Black Label Society, Black Flag, Blur, Clutch, Devo, Joy Division, The Pogues, Stray Cats, and Tito & Tarantula. Oooo, and some Afghan Whigs would be incredible.
- MrBungl3, on 06/22/2008, -0/+7I agree with everything you just said! IGN just lost creds for My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy..
- herpescrusader, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1i'd love to play "parklife..."
- thebarkingdog, on 06/22/2008, -1/+1But, I would love to see Pinkerton in its entirety. I love that album through and through.
- chadu, on 06/22/2008, -0/+3Frell69 - This is a pretty good list here. Faith No More is def on my list for Rock Band. I'd love to get to play the entire Nirvana "In Utero" album, too. Red Hot Chili Peppers "BloodSugarSexMagic" would be tons of fun. I think R.E.M. Monster could be a great time with some friends. Guided By Voices, Jon Spencer Blue Explosion and Pavement are also on my wishlist, though I doubt we'll ever see them there.
- frell69, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1Dang. Forgot about Blue Explosion. Good call.
- supermajic, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1I'd love to see Black Flag there.
- letitbleed62, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1So then the next time i have a six pack and nothing to do i can just play Damaged on Rock Band.
- supermajic, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1And you don't need me?
- hinmanj, on 06/22/2008, -5/+32My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy being on Rock Band at all would equal BURY for me.
- MCA2142, on 06/22/2008, -3/+14Your comment just made a few kids cut themselves.
- UltX, on 06/22/2008, -0/+5Good.
- ubergeek09, on 06/22/2008, -1/+1To be fair Fall Out Boy isn't emo, considering the song "This isn't a scene, it's a arms race" is making fun of emo kids. Also My Chemical Romance isn't really "emo" either. Just saying :P.
- UltX, on 06/22/2008, -0/+5Good.
- MCA2142, on 06/22/2008, -3/+14Your comment just made a few kids cut themselves.
- forty6n2, on 06/22/2008, -1/+12Very few did I agree with.. no digg
murphy11211 has it right - moar metalz. Some Dream Theater, please. That would be sweet. Or some Meshuggah [lol].- Ghorkvos, on 06/22/2008, -0/+3Octavarium would be great.
- dylio, on 06/22/2008, -0/+3Change of Seasons, ***** YEAH!
- JasonMath, on 06/22/2008, -1/+1Children of Bodom (especially the "Hate Crew Deathroll" album) would also be great!
- Fhwqhgads, on 06/22/2008, -4/+11Judas Priests's "Painkiller". Totally badass awesome album from start to finish.
- Necrid21, on 06/22/2008, -2/+1We have enough Priest already.
- Coffeedemon, on 06/22/2008, -0/+5Blasphemy. You cannot have enough Priest (or Iron Maiden).
- Necrid21, on 06/22/2008, -2/+1We have enough Priest already.
- jlane, on 06/22/2008, -2/+29the smiths

old saves the day- Nayson, on 06/22/2008, -10/+3I must say, for someone living in Americaland you have astonishingly good taste in music.
- antiorblkflag9, on 06/22/2008, -0/+3I think we have the exact same record collection...
- devolved, on 06/22/2008, -0/+3Super extra dugg for Devo.
- mywhitenoise, on 06/22/2008, -0/+3Joy Divison...***** yeah, dude!
- Myonosken, on 06/22/2008, -0/+2Smiths might get complicated if it includes Draize Train....
- SpongeBrain, on 06/22/2008, -0/+2I'd buy it for just about any of those.
- chicken101, on 06/22/2008, -0/+3dinosaur jr
- iJessicaRabbit, on 06/22/2008, -1/+60Hanson - Mmmbop
- brianjlowry, on 06/22/2008, -2/+15Paris Hilton - Stars Are Blind
Britney Spears - Oops, I Did It Again
Pop Country (the genre)
Anything from an American Idol "artist" - LRonaldHubbs, on 06/22/2008, -2/+10You may be joking entirely, but holy ***** would that be a ***** hilarious song to put on the set list of Rock Band. Unlike most pop, it uses standard rock band parts and has just enough song structure to be fun for the occasional play. Half the challenge would be making it though the song without breaking down laughing at the poor sap on vocals.
And joke songs in the real game are not without precedent. Look at Timmy and the Lords of the Underworld. I think there's a pretty good case for Mmmbop in Rock Band. - twiztidsinz, on 06/22/2008, -0/+4Peter: If you could be stranded on a desert island with any woman in the world, who would it be?
Quagmire: Taylor Hanson.
Joe Swanson: Taylor Hanson is a guy.
Quagmire: [Laughs] You guys are yankin' me. "Hey, let's put one over on Quagmire."
Peter: No, he's actually a guy, Quagmire.
Quagmire: What? That's insane. That's impossible.
[Pause]
Quagmire: Oh God. Oh my God. I've got all these magazines. Oh God.
- brianjlowry, on 06/22/2008, -2/+15Paris Hilton - Stars Are Blind
- herpescrusader, on 06/22/2008, -0/+12god i saw the hold steady and was like "hm this might be a good list."
oh lord was i wrong - iChaz, on 06/22/2008, -1/+19that's not a good list, at all, besides weezer and maybe the smashing pumpkins.
minutemen- double nickels on the dime
pixies- surfer rosas/come on pilgrim
bad brains- bad brains
any zeppelin album
any hendrix album
what ever happened to good old rock n roll? now 2 out of the 10 albums are emo heartthrobs?? wtf?- Gav0510, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1double nickels on the dime would be epic.
- iChaz, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1if double nickels on the dime were to be on it, I would buy the game for that sole purpose. how sweet would that be? hurley's parts might be some of the craziest drum parts in all of rock band
- antiorblkflag9, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1Come on Pilgrim over Doolittle?
- tzilla12, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1i would say yes
but i think doolittle is coming out for RB soon. - mywhitenoise, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1Doolittle is coming in a matter of days.
- tzilla12, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1i would say yes
- SpongeBrain, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1Minutemen are really fun to play on guitar so I'd say yes for that one.
The Pixies are just a very good band.
Bad Brains are really good because they are hardcore punk so they have the simple fast stuff going on but they also have solos in there and stuff like that.
- Gav0510, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1double nickels on the dime would be epic.
- jimminy, on 06/22/2008, -7/+21Still waiting for Death Metal Band.
- bapplebo, on 06/22/2008, -1/+3Slap some Amon Amarth on there. m/
- otakugeek, on 06/22/2008, -0/+2The Strum Bar would break with all the alternate picking.
- RyanP, on 06/22/2008, -3/+2Lamb of God!
- jimminy, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1How about Deathchain http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=zhKIG3KmwaI
or Scent Of Flesh http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=1hfwdV8opHE
or maybe Suffocation: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=hcPRoHdUGIA
I'd like to see how the drums work out on a game :)- bagelmaster, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1Lamb of God is too soft.
- jimminy, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1How about Deathchain http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=zhKIG3KmwaI
- onlyclave, on 06/22/2008, -0/+5Opeth!
- JasonMath, on 06/22/2008, -1/+3Children of Bodom!
- phre3k187, on 06/22/2008, -0/+4Necrophagist?
- bapplebo, on 06/22/2008, -0/+2Ensiferum!
- NoMoreMrQuick, on 06/22/2008, -0/+5The drum set would probably be broken with in a day of playing death metal.
- triont, on 06/23/2008, -0/+6Dethklok
- cococrispies, on 06/23/2008, -0/+3has anyone realized with any metal band like this the drums would be impossible because of the double bass
- bapplebo, on 06/22/2008, -1/+3Slap some Amon Amarth on there. m/
- danunderscore, on 06/22/2008, -3/+10wow...that list was fail
- randomdave, on 06/22/2008, -4/+17Led Zeppelin 4?
- Fraff5, on 06/23/2008, -3/+2Led Zeppelin 4 is *****.
Led Zeppelin II or Physical Graffiti would be a better choice.- SteveMax, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1Led Zeppelin 4 isn't *****, but I agree that II is much better.
- Fraff5, on 06/23/2008, -3/+2Led Zeppelin 4 is *****.
- unitedkronos, on 06/22/2008, -6/+11Here are some of the albums I'd like to see on Rock Band...
Bad Brains - Rock For Light
Christian Death - Only Theatre Of Pain
Lamb Of God - Sacrament
Slayer - Reign In Blood
Tenacious D - Tenacious D
Turisas - The Varangian Way- shondell, on 06/22/2008, -3/+1***** Tenacious D.
- diane1125, on 06/22/2008, -8/+1looks grate.
- therocksays, on 06/22/2008, -2/+2For the record that's how My Chemical Romance/Fall Out Boy fans spell.
- AnthonyC, on 06/22/2008, -2/+8Dugg for the Hold Steady, but some of the other albums would be bad ideas.
- Ramenamen, on 06/22/2008, -0/+2Boys and Girls in America would definitely have some fun stuff to play. *****, I'm happy it got mentioned.
- Papajohn56, on 06/22/2008, -7/+13NU METAL CRAP
- boydrew, on 06/22/2008, -6/+4wow i expected better music on this list.... Fall Out Boy, no.
AFI Sing The Sorrow would be an option
Muse Absolution another
Any Hendrix
Any Zeppelin
Stadium Arcadium would be pretty sweet, but thats a lot of songs
Tom Petty as well
In other words a lot of the albums they have on that list could have been excluded for MUCH better music (see every other post above mine for even more options) - MCA2142, on 06/22/2008, -1/+2Probably more fitting for Guitar Hero, but I would love to see Lenny, by Stevie Ray Vaughan.
- Gizzmo0411, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1***** yes...
Actually...anything by Stevie Ray Vaughan would be good for me.
- Gizzmo0411, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1***** yes...
- unitedatheism, on 06/22/2008, -1/+11the link shows up straight to a my chemical romance album, so you can think twice and close your browser right there! don't waste your time reading it..
- unitedkronos, on 06/22/2008, -0/+2The poster linked to page 4, not page 1 for some stupid reason.
- forceuser, on 06/22/2008, -5/+18About half of those are crap. I'd like to see some old Green Day songs, Pink Floyd, Rush, and also Stairway to Heaven would be pretty fun.
- codercaff, on 06/22/2008, -0/+3Yeahhh, dugg for Rush. Namely "La Villa Strangiato" or "Cygnus X-1: Book 1." Neil's drum fills in that uber-crazy time signature part in X-1 are pretty cool.
- LRonaldHubbs, on 06/22/2008, -0/+2Old Green Day songs are fun to hear (to a point) but the structure and complexity to make them fun for Rock Band is simply not there. They'd have to pull from either Warning or American Idiot to get anything decent and fun to play.
- bagelmaster, on 06/22/2008, -0/+3No. No American Idiot.
- iDMG, on 06/22/2008, -0/+2I love Pink Floyd but I'm not sure most of their albums I've heard would be too good for Rock Band.
- forceuser, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1They could just have a couple songs from them, Comfortably Numb would work well.
- Gizzmo0411, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1Money...
JUST so I could play that catchy base line.
- Gizzmo0411, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1Money...
- forceuser, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1They could just have a couple songs from them, Comfortably Numb would work well.
- KezG, on 06/22/2008, -0/+12Hmm, seems there is a mistake in the article. They missed out the bob the builder sound track. You'd think they proof-read things before they publish.
- screwfanboys1, on 06/22/2008, -2/+33Worst. List. Ever.
- Nayson, on 06/22/2008, -1/+3< Nayson inserts a list of his ten favourite albums that no one else reads, likes or diggs >
- uncleboogie, on 06/22/2008, -8/+62Green Day- American Idiot
Pink Floyd- Dark Side of the Moon
Bob Marley & the Wailers- Legend
Foo Fighters- One by One
Dave Mathews Band- Crash
Guns N' Roses- Appetite for Destruction
NIN- The Downward Spiral
Radio Head- OK Computer
Led Zeppelin- IV
Weezer- Blue Album
Pearl Jam- Ten- wicketr, on 06/22/2008, -2/+8Excellent list. Only thing i would add to this is:
U2: Joshua Tree
Nirvana: Nevermind
Coldplay: X&Y- boydrew, on 06/22/2008, -1/+0i was right with you til you brought up X&Y...... bleh their older stuff was so much better
- jermm, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1They claim Nevermind is coming...
- Cheesasaurus, on 06/22/2008, -0/+17Switch out American Idiot for Dookie. That'd be niceee.
- Firehed, on 06/23/2008, -1/+2I'm really not big on it, but to each his own. There are quite a few tracks on American Idiot that would lend themselves pretty well to Rock Band... Jesus of Surburbia would be pretty epic to finish on the harder difficulties (maybe not Through the Fire and the Flames epic (yes, I know that was GH3), but at nine minutes and with quite a few rhythm changes, it would be a hell of a challenge).
- Misanthrope, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1Wow, I think you're getting dugg down for knowing something about music and not just saying "MORE METAL".
- Franey97, on 06/22/2008, -0/+2Hey, the first list of non pretentous or hipster picks!
But I agree, Dookie > American Idiot- Misanthrope, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1Are you KIDDING me??
Unless you just mean as far as Rock Band goes...I could, at least, see a point there. But musically...no.
- Misanthrope, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1Are you KIDDING me??
- lolgamoff, on 06/22/2008, -0/+2Everything's good except for American Idiot. Green Day doesn't work when they care about politics. Dookie.
Superhits would be pretty alright, too.
What I wouldn't give to play Longview's bass riff in rock band.... - iDMG, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1Umm, Dark Side of the moon is a great album but it would either have to be a full track because it would be pretty lame having to pause between the songs. I really couldn't see myself playing Pink Floyd on Rock Band.
- bodyslam911, on 06/22/2008, -0/+5Great list, also like to see
Jimi Hendrix Experience-Are You Experienced
Metallica-Ride The Lightning
Beatles-White Album(We can dream can't we?)- manbearpigm16, on 06/25/2008, -0/+1I don't mean this to be rude, but would someone care to explain to me what's so great about The Beatles? It seems like people come up with "hidden meanings" for lyrics that a 3rd grader could write..
- JeffDUpp, on 06/22/2008, -0/+0yea that looks like a real list to me except for the bob marley it might just be me but i would want to play the same boring reggae chords for each of his songs.
o yea old greenday = cool
new politically minded greenday = *****- Misanthrope, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1But I mean...have you even heard the album. It's ***** amazing. Better music than probably 90% of the ***** people call "amazing" these days.
- wicketr, on 06/22/2008, -2/+8Excellent list. Only thing i would add to this is:
- Archaic1, on 06/22/2008, -0/+27... so basically this is just a list of the author's favorite albums?
- shadowcode, on 06/22/2008, -0/+6I got that impression, yeah.
- wtfitsRICK, on 06/22/2008, -0/+5And this thread is just a list of Diggers' favorite albums.
- joemofo214, on 06/22/2008, -7/+2Huh, im a fan of mcr (inb4 gay) and i dont think that album should be on rockband. maybe more avenged sevenfold, coheed and cambria, radio head, nine inch nails, modest mouse, and maybe some indie bands.
- Tunguska, on 06/22/2008, -2/+4Yeah City of Evil for sure. Best metal album in the last 10 years .
- Coffeedemon, on 06/22/2008, -2/+1Jesus...
Go get a copy of Leviathan or The Blackening. - ManImAwesome, on 06/22/2008, -1/+1Are you high? Dark Tranquillity, As I Lay Dying, Black Dahlia Murder, Nevermore, Gojira, Dethklok... all ***** better than Avenged Sevenfold.
- TheNorinator, on 06/22/2008, -1/+1ANYTHING would be better than avenged sevenfold.
- Coffeedemon, on 06/22/2008, -2/+1Jesus...
- Tunguska, on 06/22/2008, -2/+4Yeah City of Evil for sure. Best metal album in the last 10 years .
- hektur, on 06/22/2008, -2/+15I am just glad they are going to put Moving Pictures by Rush into the game. That album is epic and deserves to be in it.
http://www.rushisaband.com/display.php?id=1520- codercaff, on 06/22/2008, -0/+4Yesssssss! Can you say "The Camera Eye?"
- hektur, on 06/22/2008, -0/+3Camera Eye will be epic. 10 minutes of awesome. Hopefully they dont have the cover band though like they have before. They just cant match Geddy's vocals.
- codercaff, on 06/22/2008, -0/+4Yesssssss! Can you say "The Camera Eye?"
- dregin, on 06/22/2008, -9/+4Where the ***** is master of puppets?
Buried.- hypnotoad32, on 06/22/2008, -0/+3I think it can be found on Napster.
- lobsterxcore, on 06/22/2008, -4/+51Wow. Way to ***** blow, IGN.
- Gregus1032, on 06/22/2008, -0/+2you can tell that the guy who wrote this just slapped in some "classic" albums along with his current playlist. Rockband does need more songs though.... but fall out boy.... my chemical romance....
