I'd say the vast majority of guitar players don't make a living off playing, assuming that's what you mean by useful.

DragonForce's songs were actually recorded at a much much slow speed, and then sped up to create this crap that some consider good music. I saw them at Ozzfest 2006, and they were horrible. Even there fans were disappointed. There is absolutely no feeling or soul in there music.

        Anyone comparing this to the "real thing" doesn't get it. There is no art involved in playing this (or any other I can think of) game. You are good not because you are creating amazing new works that haven't been heard or seen.
        Games are games, they are fun to those who enjoy them. Music is art, NOT a game.

        Now excuse me I've got to see if I can master hard mode on GH3... Damn orange button, I need another finger.

      The people who can get 100% play the game, not the guitar. They practice at playing the game. If they had tabs/sheet music/teachers to teach them the song on a REAL guitar, i'm sure they'd excel at it.

      Stop hating on the kids that play video games as much as you play guitar/drums/piano/bass/whatever just because they recorded it.

      If I showed a video clip of you performing your favorite song, everyone would probably laugh at you cause you screwed up somewhere. Let it slide man. They love the music, they love the game, let it go already. Jesus... LET IT GO!

        you can't have everything handed to you. you have to get some things yourself. i'm confident chris isn't financially unable to get a teacher. not to mention that many guitarists are self-taught.

        Besides, the fact that you own at "shredding" in a horizontal line on 5 buttons doesn't mean you'll have mad skills on 6 strings with 22-24+ frets to play on. owning at guitar hero means ***** when it comes to guitar.
        playing guitar, however, can easily make you better than a non-guitar player when starting out on guitar hero.

I did a lot worse when I tried to play the easier difficulties because my picking hand wanted to follow the rhythms it was familiar with instead of the game's tablature. Even now I have to fight the urge to play the song how it's written and not how it sounds. So an accomplished real guitarist who tried Through the Fire and Flames probably wouldn't do particularly well because the tablature is at best a rough facsimile of the real thing, where as the RATM songs are pretty accurate because of their simplicity.

        5. Gets chicks

        Guitar Hero Guitar:
        1. Makes sounds based on what you push
        2. Is pretty hard to learn
        3. Does not make different sounds based on how fast/light/hard you hold the frets
        4. Has 5 buttons and the strum bar
        5. Doesn't really get chicks ... yet?

        Getting 100% on Fire and Flames, though difficult, and requiring roughly the same coordination, does not gain praise. It was played on a plastic guitar shaped video game controller.

        My guess is those who value classical instruments, like me, don't like it when this guy gets as much attention as that accordian guy posted last week on digg.

Playing a guitar and playing guitar hero are both equally useful "talents" because the VAST majority of people that play guitar pretty much do the same thing: copy how to "play" other people's music. The only thing I have more respect over playing guitar hero is when people can actually write their own (good) music. THAT takes true talent.

      I'm sick of people acting like a guitar is this god-like instrument. Sorry to break it to ya but playing a video game as well as this kid did requires more talent then most average joes have at playing a guitar.

          I understand the difficulty of the solos and song in general but Li and Totman play like absolute ***** and you can tell between the live and studio version just how very much the song is enhanced. He got higher than the score of bots by "squeezing" more notes in while under starpower by abusing the timing window. The theoretical maximum was calculated to be 992402 but the song is so ***** insane to even squeeze close to that much. Some involve squeezes in sections that are above 18nps which most people can't even comprehend.

      It is quite possible however that he could improve his score if he could refc it.

There is no better star power path on this song that would get you remotely close to 1m. The achievement you're thinking of is either the 750k single player achievement or the 1m coop achievement.

          And yes, this song does have the most notes with a grand total of 3722.
