- redmaxx, on 10/11/2007, -65/+14Just another reason to have bought your console from Costco or Sam's Club. Satisfaction guaranteed.
- SfOwnsLa, on 10/11/2007, -22/+352Who goes online with their modded boxes? Thats asking for a ban.
- grogan, on 10/11/2007, -17/+259Inaccurate headline and description.
You're missing one thing: All of the banned 360's are modded. I'm not saying that makes it alright to ban them, but this is an important point. - rm999, on 10/11/2007, -16/+77SfOwnsLa
A lot of people honestly thought the mod was not noticeable to Microsoft, even if the machine was online. - elhaf, on 10/11/2007, -81/+7Sounds like it might be time for a Carterphone-like decision. In that landmark case, the phone company was told that it must allow any phone (not just AT&T proprietary leased phones) to connect to its network as long as that phone doesn't interfere with operation of the network. MS might have a case on that grounds, but they should at least have a hacked vs non-hacked section for each game, or something; or a way to un-hack your firmware. I'm sure not everyone tries to cheat, just like phone-modders who just want extended capabilities for their phone.
- geartype2, on 10/11/2007, -8/+42@elhaf
The difference here being that xbox live is not necessary in the modern world, access to a phoneline is(and that's why here in the US you can get near free phone service if you make less than $20,000 a year). - acex23, on 10/11/2007, -28/+21Is disk jitter what makes people's characters disappear and reappear? As far as I'm concerned I'd be glad if they permanently banned them.
- DiggDuggDugged, on 10/11/2007, -8/+107@elhaf:
Not to pile on, but Microsoft has been very clear and consistent with this policy going back to LIVE on the original Xbox. Anyone who chooses to modify their Xbox should have the expectation that they cannot continue to use LIVE, simple as that. We should all understand that by purchasing a Xbox and using LIVE we agree to play by Microsoft's rules. Andfrom the article, they are allowing access to those gamer tags still, only using an unmodded Xbox.
The Libertarian in me strongly disagrees with Microsoft's actions but I have to admit that they do have the right to dictate the terms of service for LIVE. If this profoundly disturbs you vote with your dollars and don't buy a Xbox and/or LIVE Gold membership. - huggablejunk, on 10/11/2007, -38/+8Well, it sucks that we can't get on Live. But now I don't feel bad about hacking their games and console.
- Livert, on 10/11/2007, -11/+23/me prays my Wiikey stays invisible
- strangewill, on 10/11/2007, -8/+75I find it kind of funny: "This mod is not detectable", some time later... "WTF I AM BANNZ0RED!?"
Anyway, it's what you get, Microsoft gave plenty of warning, stop crying over it. - FuzzyBunny, on 10/11/2007, -5/+47I have to agree with diggdugg. Microsoft is completely within their right to do this. Not only that, but anyone who has ever played Halo 2 online should be aware that there are seriously legitimate reasons for doing this. Obviously, this still sucks for people who modded their systems for legitimate purposes (although I think they are probably vastly outnumbered by those who did it for illegitimate purposes), but they really should have known the risks when they did it.
- tech42er, on 10/11/2007, -1/+21@digg
It seems liek it's fair for them to do this. It's certainly legal, since MS is a private entity that controls Live. - NYC10004, on 10/11/2007, -1/+60The headline is total bait. I think somebody "forgot" to add the word modded
- skase, on 10/11/2007, -1/+64hmm. i forsee a lot of angry ebay purchasers
- NJank, on 10/11/2007, -19/+7"forgot" nothing. it's called gaming digg via the same headline games every newspaper's been playing for decades. well done, sheep!
- SolarisX, on 10/11/2007, -17/+2Good strategy of banning consoles and not cancelling live accounts.. they're probably hoping ppl will be too guilty to call in and cancel, so they can keep tearing money out of your credit card every month
- mrASSMAN, on 10/11/2007, -29/+12Is anyone paying attention? None of us are saying it is wrong and unfair of Microsoft banning these modded consoles.. we're just pissed because we're banned! You guys are making it seem like none of us expected this to happen at some point, or that we are taking our anger out on Microsoft, not true.
I modded my console to play backup games a year ago and it's been fantastic. I'm not banned as of yet, but I'm sure I will be as soon as I try to play a game while signed in. This is very sad.. especially since I just spent 40 dollars on 12 months of live service, but I always expected it to happen from the day I decided to do it. The first thing I did when I bought the 360 was take it apart and hack it, and I don't regret doing so. Games are too expensive, and now I probably won't be able to play them online, but at least I'll have the games for free rather than $60 each. A harsh compromise I guess. - sathias, on 10/11/2007, -10/+3So is it just hardware mods? Or are reflashed optical drives detected as well?
- mrASSMAN, on 10/11/2007, -6/+4sathias, modded firmware drives are precisely what we can confirm is being banned so far. I don't know if physical modifications are getting banned yet..
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/11/2007, -8/+55Good, I'm glad they're banning modded Xbox 360's. I got so tired of useless pathetic modders in Halo 2 that I gave up the game for over a year. If I pay $50 a year for the service I expect a quality experience.
- gldfshnpcklejar, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2WiiKey doesn't modify the firmware. When you have something like that you can download the correct firmware and run a match against it etc which is probably what Microsoft did. It would probably be possible to run a match against something like that and be able to detect it by seeing what should show up and what does show up. Who knows, you got ownt.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/11/2007, -11/+7Modding has nothing to do with cheating nobi-wan, if it exists, it will still exist despite these bans since they have no connection whatsoever.
- RealityCheque, on 10/11/2007, -15/+4The digg double standard is in full effect right now. So many people on here mouthing about how happy they are that people are getting banned, yet they are probably downloading movies and music through torrents, or posting the AACS key everywhere they go.
This makes no difference. If my friends and I are banned, we will just buy new ones from Wal-Mart and return the old ones in the new boxes for our money back. Got to love the return policy:
# Computer hardware: Must be returned with any included software within 15 days of receipt.
# Computer components and computer accessories: Must be returned within 45 days of receipt.
This makes NO difference. - damonlab, on 10/11/2007, -20/+2I hope to see an upcoming class action lawsuit against Microsoft for trying to prevent Fair Use. Do any lawyers read Digg?
- foolfromhell, on 10/11/2007, -3/+12Those people are almost as stupid as those who pirated Halo 2 a month before it came out and tried to play on LIVE...
- SultanTravi, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3@canada and jull
Sorry, that was my ignorance. I thought that modders only modified their hard drives, so I figured MS would ban a 360 that was connected to a modded HDD on Live. I didn't know they had to flash other things as well. - DiggMasterJ, on 10/11/2007, -16/+18Just for the record, most people mod their 360 so they can cheat at games. It is about time they got banned. Games like Halo 2 track your skill level based on how many games you win, and there is nothing more frustrating then loosing hard earned points to cheaters. It ruins the game for everyone, so this news gives me a sense of victory I that is hard to come by these days. Maybe I'll feel it again when Bush is impeached.
- airwalkery2k, on 10/11/2007, -5/+3It could be much, much worse. At least Microsoft didn't destroy your console--I mean, they know your console was modded. Just your Live subscription is in ruin.
- lucasg, on 10/11/2007, -13/+11@DiggMasterJ
Just for the record, most people mod their 360 so they can play backups..not so they can cheat a Halo 2. - lucasg, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11@ nickgravelyn
I agree. I think it's pretty safe to assume that most "backups" are pirated games and the people that have them do not own the original games. I almost wrote backups/pirated games but I figured that was implied. On the other hand, I think anyone who wants to have a copy of a game that they legally own should be allowed to do so. You mentioned that you take very good care of your games, as do I, but accidents do happen and there have even been reports of games being scratched while they are in the 360. - pifko87, on 10/11/2007, -5/+2I hope Nintendo don't do this for my DS!!
- roosterjm2k2, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11@nickgravelyn:
"If only there was some Microsoft sanctioned way to actually make (or obtain) a real backup of a game that you purchased that would play in an unmodified Xbox 360."
There is. If you break/scratch a disc, you can send the disc to MS. you pay to ship it to them, they pay to ship it back. They will send you a new one. I think MS requires this of all of their publishers who put games on the 360. I think most console makers, and even plenty of PC game publishers do this, i know nintendo does for the GC, and I assume for the wii as well. I scratched my H2 disc a while back, big time (was moving furniture, had just put the disc on a towel on top of the 360...it fell off and right under the leg of the table i was moving, i didnt even notice it. ) I called MS just to see if they did this (i had heard that they do) and they did. A week and a half later, and 2 bucks for shipping, and i had a new H2 disc.
I don't know if its law, or if they just feel obliged to do so, but it is nice either way, and it completely negates the "i need to make a backup" *****. - 0o0Moylan0o0, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Too bad if someone buys an Xbox without knowing its been banned.
- YouRookies, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Upcoming Digg story...."Xbox 360 sales soars!"
- sgglynn, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1@rm99
"A lot of people honestly thought the mod was not noticeable to Microsoft, even if the machine was online."
dont you mean especially when the machine is online? MS would have no way of finding it out unless you go online.... Hence the obvious reasons for not going online with a modded 360, duh. I'd compare this to having a bunch of downloaded music in a shared limewire folder, then getting pissed that you got busted. - razor150, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Oh noes! I can't get on Live with the games I "backed up" from Blockbuster now because my modded console was banned. MS is evil, they are denying me of fair use for games I rented then copied. Woe is me.
Of course that is sarcasm. - CLShortFuse, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5"Just for the record, most people mod their 360 so they can cheat at games. It is about time they got banned"
No, you're wrong. That's not true.
You can't cheat in a game with a modded xbox360. The only thing a modded xbox360 allows you do to is play backups. This is not like the xbox1 which was fully hacked. There's no GameShark type hacking of Xbox360 games. You can't modify the game like you could with Xbox1 (like people inserted their own DOA character skins). You can't hack Halo on the modded xbox360. There is no real "modchip" for the Xbox360 like there is for the PS2, Xbox1 and Gamecube. All they did was hack the DVD drive, not the CPU/Memory. Like people modify their PC DVD-Drives to be region free. You can't execute code on it. Just like the Wii "modchips."
It's JUST for backups, not for running your own cracks/code. When hackers create a real modchip for the xbox360 that'll allow you to hack games, then you can worry about online play being unfair. - Zachari, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1@ CLShortFuse
Don't spout off stuff about things you don't know. You can most DEFINITELY mod with a modded Xbox 360 on Halo 2. This is done by hacking the firmware to play backed up games, and then using a "backed up" Halo 2 disk with modified maps. This enables modding even on disk maps such as Lockout, Ascension, etc. on Xbox Live and Matchmaking. - torgos, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6@DiggMasterJ:
You're full of *****. Most people mod their 360s to play backed up games, not to cheat. - CkMaverick, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4Modding your console is not a chip, is not to cheat on games, and for the most part not to go rent games and rip them... Alot of people above me who are right about modding is being dugg down and wrong being dugg up. Modding is a firmware change not a chip (no hardware involved - think of software if you are uncomfortable with firmware) that allows your console to read and play burned dvd disks of 360 games. These games are usually downloaded iso type files that are burned on a dvd disk and played regularly on the console. It does not allow you to cheat on these games and people usually crying of hax are just people complaining over themselves being pwned. It is for the sole purpose of playing free games or backing up your games and still playing them after the original disk is destroyed.
- Niz1, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Im not sure if this is right of them, like i have the HDloader/Advance thing for my PS2 to play baackups on the PS2 HDD works great but if i want to play online i have to put the original disc in to go online and play. Fair enough. My understanding is that for the 360 even if you have the original game but go online with a modified firmware you 360 will get blocked from live? or does this only apply for the backed up games? if so then fine understandable and pretty stupid of the user to acess live with it but if not its unfair.
- jull1234, on 10/11/2007, -43/+187haha, serves you all right.
- merreborn, on 10/11/2007, -135/+36Yeah, serves you right for trying to make a piece of hardware you paid $500 for do what you want it to do. Serves you right for not accepting Microsoft's console DRM without question. Serves you right for modifying your console so you can play from backups.
Fair use is so overrated. - hammydude, on 10/11/2007, -51/+15oh man i am so damn lucky. I was seriously just about to go play live but i thought to myself, heh ill check digg first, and i saw this! I have to go unflash my dvd drive now, brb!
- SultanTravi, on 10/11/2007, -18/+74Sometimes people use modified content to cheat. Like modders on Halo 2. It's a shame, but if you want to mod your 360, buy two hard drives. One for Live, one for modding.
But I do understand the issue that honest people can't modify their box. I'd love to run Linux on my 360 for kicks. - Error601, on 10/11/2007, -8/+50You can sitll use your hardware like you want. You just can't use it on their server like you want.
What are the firmware modifications for anyway? I've yet to do much more on Live except for download a copy of Galaga. Always seems like too many no lifers on on-lines for them to be any fun. - Gerz1219, on 10/11/2007, -10/+136@merreborn -- Oh, give me a ***** break. Since the modded 360's still can't run unsigned code, virtually every mod is done for the sole purpose of piracy. Maybe some people actually buy games and back them up, just like some people probably buy bongs for tobacco use -- but the percentage in both cases is negligible. We all knew Microsoft could do this, which is why I feel no sympathy for anyone with a bricked 360.
- mike17032, on 10/11/2007, -8/+73Oh quit your crying. You are free to modify your console in anyway that you like. You just cant get on LIVE after you do it.
I fail to see a problem with this. - SfOwnsLa, on 10/11/2007, -33/+21Sony makes it easy to install Linux on the PS3. There is an "Install other OS" option on the PS3.
- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -5/+32Sorry merreborn, but whether or not the terms are good doesn't matter, it's violating them that does. You bought the console on certain terms and are expected to abide by them.
- CanadaMan87, on 10/11/2007, -4/+12@sultantravi:
I'm pretty sure they ban the console's MAC address, so simply swapping hard-drives wouldn't do the trick. Plus the article says that Microsoft bans the console, not the account. - SirKi11a1ot, on 10/11/2007, -9/+1@canadaman
But if you are only on LIVE with the legitimate disk (yank the cord the rest of the time), then MS only sees that content. - MisterFlaut, on 10/11/2007, -34/+14"haha, serves you all right."
Shut the ***** up.
Corporate shill. - jull1234, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6@sultantravi
In addition to not using modified content on the HDD on Live, you should probably flash your firmware back to stock before connecting, too. - artanis, on 10/11/2007, -12/+4"You can sitll use your hardware like you want. You just can't use it on their server like you want."
No, we haven't ever been able to use the hardware like we want. They dont allow unsigned code, so the only mod has been dvd drive firmware hacks and a king kong shader exploit that wasn't released until after MS patched boxes through live. So what do the modders have available? the only thing we can do is mod the dvd drive, and the only thing to do with a modded dvd drive is play backups... so MS kinda put us in the corner here. - heinousjay, on 10/11/2007, -7/+12Microsoft forces you to buy the console? That's the only way I could see legitimately claiming they backed you into a corner. If not, you've got one flimsy excuse. Probably you modded for piracy, right? Seems that pirates typically have such a line of reasoning to justify their scumbaggery.
- tuzziel, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2it sounds like good news to me
(haxors are out for now it seams) - dunlop, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11"Serves you right for modifying your console so you can play from backups."
I'm sorry, NOBODY is going to spend the money and risk bricking their XBOX360 for the off chance that an original game they own dies and they will use a backup. Especially when M$ will give you a new game if you send the defective one in.
Until there is any real homebrew functionality like the PSP, it is 100% for piracy at the moment. - torgos, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1@sultantravi:
You flash the DVD firmware, not the hard drive. It's not as simple as just buying another hard drive.
- merreborn, on 10/11/2007, -135/+36Yeah, serves you right for trying to make a piece of hardware you paid $500 for do what you want it to do. Serves you right for not accepting Microsoft's console DRM without question. Serves you right for modifying your console so you can play from backups.

- SuperCUBE, on 10/11/2007, -9/+3I just want to ask, was that supposed to be funny?
- playedalive, on 10/11/2007, -13/+84as soon as i read this the 360 got riped away from that ethernet cable.
- bigmac375, on 10/11/2007, -14/+54yea, i signed in again after i read this just to make sure mine still worked(it did), then i pulled the Ethernet about 20 feet from it.
dear god... i'm shaking. - mike17032, on 10/11/2007, -18/+10So what the hell good does that do you? If its modded its modded. You wont be able to take it online again anyway.
- Jansson, on 10/11/2007, -6/+12I started using backups with mine after my copy of Gears got scratched. After I read this, I threw in one of my retail discs and checked if I was banned (I wasn't - yet).
I also haven't played my 360 in a week or so. I'm curious if they're just working through their list of offenders or if I dodged a bullet. - Jansson, on 10/11/2007, -27/+45
- bigmac375, on 10/11/2007, -14/+54yea, i signed in again after i read this just to make sure mine still worked(it did), then i pulled the Ethernet about 20 feet from it.
- Gohan5052, on 10/11/2007, -5/+31WOW The only reason i didnt mod mine the other day is cause i didnt have any DL DVDs and the store was closed.
- playedalive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17Also anyone else banned can you confirm if you are in europe, usa, asia ect?
- tyler1175, on 10/11/2007, -13/+7well I haven't been banned and Iv'e been on live alot and have old hitachi firmware so i guess its only certain people
- Paulk501, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6Same here, i was really thinking about opening mine just to mod it and then my DVD burner died and i didn't have any DL disks.... the dvd burner was cheap though
- kingatrock, on 10/11/2007, -21/+2*****!
oh well worse comes to worse you can always flash back to orig to play online then flash back to hacked offline...
yeah..right.. - Reddwarfusa, on 10/11/2007, -20/+8Amazing, I have 2 (my son's and mine) and one spare (don't ask). Mine hasn't been on for days!! but you guessed it my sons is banned. Wonder how long they have been detecting firmwares eh?? Looks like I'll have to give him the spare, damn it.
- gamedtx, on 10/11/2007, -18/+31this sucks... mine got banned too.
thats actually my tv on x-s.com...- mrASSMAN, on 10/11/2007, -5/+21can i have your autograph?
- playedalive, on 10/11/2007, -7/+2hmm seems xbox scene forums are getting hammered. Im wondering has anyone been banned and not played the halo 3 beta. was playing it fine today, turned the machine of and then read this.
- klipseracer, on 10/11/2007, -18/+4I'm too scared to check my 360. I'll guess i'll just play some zelda...... man. at least i got to a rank 10 in halo 3!!! w00t. I'm glad i tried it out anyhow. been waiting for years
- Litherish, on 10/11/2007, -5/+29You should only be scared if you were using a backup disc...lmfao....this is hilarious. I'm glad my Xbox 360 is not modded, I was thinking about it...but this pushes it over the edge...
- videoman1, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5i didn't play at all today but i did play last night. When exactly did it start to ban people ? or did they start collecting INFO and just ban today?
- louiedog, on 10/11/2007, -6/+3Hmm. I wonder if it's possible to connect 2 sata dvd drives on a switch that also disables the ethernet. One drive for online games, another for your "backup" single player games.
I was going to mod the thing soon. Oh well.- Reddwarfusa, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Videoman1
My bet is they have been collecting information for a while. According to xbox scene some bodies haven't even downloaded Halo 3. Stupid thing is we are using crackdown original so I know they must have tracked it for a while - jull1234, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Don't they have a chip of sorts with an external installable switch for just that purpose?
- Reddwarfusa, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Videoman1
- DutchMaster, on 10/11/2007, -0/+20for those people who had there consoles banned I have a few questions:
1) what drive do you have?
2) what firmware did you have? (and what extention A,B,C,D)
4) when did you first go online after you updated your 360 to the spring update?- Reddwarfusa, on 10/11/2007, -1/+18Samsung ms25
Version A
Been off live for a couple of weeks, physically disconnected the lan cable.
Went online last night for the first time in those couple of weeks. They have been data harvesting - edrift101, on 10/11/2007, -7/+8TS-H943 4.2A - Banned
They have been data harvesting and it looks like I can kiss Xbox Live goodbye. Anyone know if there is a working tunnel program like Kai or Xboxconnect out? - McFace, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I was on the forums on X-S before they went down and all firmwares are affected, and all versions it seems.
- DutchMaster, on 10/11/2007, -8/+3I only read 1 report about an ms-28 drive and he got banned on tuesday so maybe just maybe they aren't effected (please dont proof me wrong)
- mrASSMAN, on 10/11/2007, -6/+1Can anyone else confirm the ms28 banning (besides dutchmaster)? I'm not banned yet.. so I'd like to know what you were doing when you got banned.
Thanks. Sad day. - shlemielo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1@ edrift101
The 360 currently works with XBC. You'll just have to worry about finding an adequate number of gamers though. I know when Halo 2 was released, it felt like the bottom dropped out of the Halo 1 XBC community.
- Reddwarfusa, on 10/11/2007, -1/+18Samsung ms25
- niradg, on 10/11/2007, -49/+22video game consoles are just a way to extort consumers by limiting choice.
- aldenhg, on 10/11/2007, -14/+31True, but they're cheaper then a high end gaming rig.
- Cyber_Akuma, on 10/11/2007, -6/+40Not another PC > Consoles argument...
- Urusai, on 10/11/2007, -20/+8More like proprietary locked-in system vs. open system argument.
- vagarach, on 10/11/2007, -6/+10Solely based on cost, consoles are better for playing the latest games. That is the simple truth, and you only get long debates when other things are considered.
- avihappy, on 10/11/2007, -7/+5If it were open I could play on Linux...
- mike17032, on 10/11/2007, -12/+9Oh grow up. Consoles are a way to deliver games to peoples large TVs in the comfort of their living room that is hassle free, and costs much less than a PC gaming rig. Console gaming is king now, if you cant face that you must still be stuck in 1990.
- fohat, on 10/11/2007, -11/+5*Used* to cost less then PC gaming...
Pretty soon consoles will be more then 3 times the price of a PC that can game
and people will still buy them
Hooray for the PS5 with neural implants! - Cyber_Akuma, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10I have two reasons for playing on a console.
1. Price. I know I know, a PC is more open and designed to do more than just play games. But honestly, if I connected a core360 and a PC to a VGA moniter, you just cannot build a PC for $300 that can run a game like Gears of War at the same graphical quality and frames per second as a core 360.
2. Games selection. I mostly like quirky/strange games (Katamari Damacy, Okami, etc), Platformers and JRPGS. While its true that every genra exsists on the PC, the vast majority are FPS games, RTS games and a few WRPGs. Games similar to Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest or Eternal Sonata are few and rare on the PC.
Don't get me wrong, I don't refuse to game on a PC either. Take Oblivion for example, since I only have a measly Pentium3 there is no way I will be able to run that game. I COULD get it on my 360, but I am not interested since games like Oblivion even to Half Life, half the fun of them are all the mods that you can install or design on your own for them. You cannot do that on a console. - idonthack, on 10/11/2007, -9/+2@urusai
What? You're calling Windows "open"? - MattTS, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4I own both a 360 and a gaming PC.I'd stopped buying PC games for a while as my last PC was getting older and there were some good 360 exclusives coming out but I recently bought a new PC and remembered how much cheaper PC games are than console games. PC games are often half the price of the console versions so after buying a reasonable number of games you'd save money from buying a gaming PC.
- Gunrun, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4The PC platform is more open than Consoles, as when you are publishing you can just do it yourself, and don't need to send it off to Microsoft or whoever, wait for them to test it, then box it and take a chunk of your profits. All this while making you go change the game so achievements work, and what have you.
However, even as an avid PC gamer I must admit that the next gen consoles are currently cheaper for playing new looking games. Not that it matters. Graphics over Gameplay and all that. - Katana314, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2I'm not gonna call console gaming worthless, and I'm not gonna call PC gaming worthless. They're both awesome in their own ways. You're both gonna have to face that there are things your platform just cannot do.
- slapded, on 10/11/2007, -4/+29well hey, at least they let you know your wireless card works
- streetr8cer13, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3i heard this on hitachi drives and this story confirms that the disc jitter update does nothing to prevent banning and they have a different way of detecting the modded drives.
i do not have a modded drive but the official statement from microsfot is quite clear, and sucks
and yes you can be banned even if you werent playing the Halo 3 beta - TheG2, on 10/11/2007, -2/+30You knew they were going to figure it out eventually...
Sucks to have a $400 offlined system though.- edrift101, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3True enough...
- DutchMaster, on 10/11/2007, -9/+69its almost as if you have a $400 wii lol
- TheG2, on 10/11/2007, -4/+62Stop making fun of my Wii...it goes online...I can...
I hate you, your not my real dad. - RealityCheque, on 10/11/2007, -11/+2Well, I am going to just restore my original firmware and hope I missed the ban.
If I didn't, I will go to Wal-Mart and buy a new one, then put my old one in the box and return it, while keeping the new one. - heinousjay, on 10/11/2007, -7/+4Boy, you people are just dishonest scum all the way around, huh? And you wonder why the people who get paid to make this stuff get all up in arms about you.
- biggrz, on 10/11/2007, -32/+2RTFA people, you're not banned. You're being blocked from Live cause you have an invalid firmware.
- streetr8cer13, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11not true they banned the console id's from live, meaning the console not the user id is banned from live
- merreborn, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13Read the ***** screen shot.
"This console has been banned..."
http://pictures.xbox-scene.com/xbox360/banned/cimg0452ir3.jpg - johnhummel, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8That's interesting - I wonder if that was done in case someone says "Hey, I bought my 360 on eBay - what up?", then they can ship people a DVD to repatch their firmware or something.
- Darkestblaze, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9@john
Assuming the seller didn't mention the altered firmware in the ebay listing, that would be a case of misrepresenting a product on ebay (similar to selling a "lemon" car to someone). This would be an issue between ebay, you, and the seller, microsoft would have no obligation to send you a replacement, or even fix it since the modification totally voided any warranty on the unit. Just another case of buyer beware I suppose.
- dhVyse, on 10/11/2007, -29/+1I hope this is some late april fools joke. I'm not banned. Well I'm not hacked either...
- afx1, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6so whats ur point
- Gunrun, on 10/11/2007, -10/+4Isn't that rather like saying in response to the rounding up of the Jews in WW2 Germany "I hope this is a late april fools joke. I didn't get gassed, but I'm not Jewsish"
- Maasneotek, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7I don't get it, you guys modified your Xboxes and assumed MS wouldn't care? I was ignorant of the fact that modded xbox owners played online. I don't own a 360 (or console for that matter). I'm just curious. I realize a lot of people feel swindled by this, it would have been nice if MS said "AFTER May 17th ALL MODDED XBOXES will be banned on LIVE", or something to that effect.
Besides, aren't there licenses and disclaimers when you sign up for LIVE saying you promise not to do X and Y? As for Fair use, I think a lot of people need to look it up because I constantly see Digg users misunderstanding what it entails.
- zouhair, on 10/11/2007, -37/+13So now you own the box but actualy you don't own it
man, those bastard did so much good job to make people feel like that is like that things should be
bastards- streetr8cer13, on 10/11/2007, -22/+20welcome, to the world of DRM
- Rayonic, on 10/11/2007, -10/+63You own your Xbox, but you don't own the Live servers.
And frankly, allowing cheaters and/or hackers onto their private service degrades it for everybody. Do you shed a tear whenever another 10,000 accounts are banned from WoW? - vagarach, on 10/11/2007, -10/+3Ah, but a new account is the cost of the game, so say $49, whereas a new Xbox360 costs almost ten times that.
- AgntOrnge, on 10/11/2007, -5/+9@Rayonic
Gald someone else realizes that - pauleric, on 10/11/2007, -12/+5@Rayonic, if you own your console, how can they say this: "we detect have illegally modified their console". Is it illegal to modify your own property? Just asking, I have no opinion since I don't have one and didn't read or sign MS's contracts. I agree they're probably doing this to control cheating.
- SirStu, on 10/11/2007, -1/+20You can modify your property all you want, you just cannot use it on Live's servers, which are Microsoft's property.
- MattTS, on 10/11/2007, -3/+8It's got nothing to do with cheating. It's all just piracy. They're not hacked enough to run unsign code other than through King Kong and a Linux live CD.
- Rayonic, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8@pauleric :
Well technically, bypassing copy protection schemes is illegal nowadays. It's called the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) in the U.S., and there are similar laws in many other countries.
Of course, the DMCA is a sucky law, but even without it Microsoft could still ban cheaters from their service. So I'm not shedding a tear either way. - Bootes, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3Well since all the current hacks for the 360 do is allow you to play downloaded games, this has nothing to do with cheaters. Current hacks do not allow people to modify the games at all.
- dhVyse, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14BTW, it really doesn't matter if you unflash your drive, they will know if they have been datamining like everyone suspected. Me and my friends guessed mass bans before Halo 3.
- notman, on 10/11/2007, -17/+5And with that, XBox Live loses half their users. I can't imagine this will be good for profits overall.
I honestly just decided to get a 360 (Choosing between it or a PS3), but I was waiting on the Elite's availability.... doubt I will now.- joebus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14It won't be that bad for profits because if the person that got banned wants to go on XBL again, then they are going to have to buy a new Xbox 360.
- JudgeMonkey, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7plus downloading all the games instead of buying them wasn't very ****ing good for profits either. Sure, you can still do it, but now you miss out on half of the features of most games.
- NotZero, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2edit: JudgeMonkey beat me to it. -1
- Phocas, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Ha!! That is silly logic. Its what most of the cheap ignorant thieves have been saying. Either you go with an inferior product that you will pirate (PS3) or you have to buy a new console and all your current XBL content again. Either way it is a winwin for MS!! You can go infect the PSnetwork with your *****. It is funny how you people think your a majority in the 360 scene. With over 6 million users there can be no more than 5% of people like you out there. MS had the numbers before they dropped the hammer. If they saw it as an issue that would hurt their bottom line it would not have been done.
- springah, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2@phocas:

- 8ight, on 10/11/2007, -23/+97I just called 18004MYXBOX to cancel my account. The lady lipped off to me the entire conversation. When she finally told me the account was canceled and gave me a confirmation number I thanked her and said "Have fun canceling accounts all night". She quickly responded with, "You're welcome, and feel free to die". No *****.
- Nysul, on 10/11/2007, -8/+39If I was her I would have said the same thing. I wouldn't last 10 minutes in retail or customer service.
- 8ight, on 10/11/2007, -30/+10I remember sitting there thinking I wish I had a setup to record this conversation. When I told her the phone number and address was fake on the account she mumbled to herself "I don't understand why people think they have to do this". I said, "Because it's on a need to know basis and you don't need to know my phone or address". She got lippy after that. I finally got logged into the MS Passport site and found all the fake info I needed. I had problems using the Passport site and said something like, "Of course, it's not showing up right because I'm using Opera and this is an MS site". Her response? "Welcome to hell". She hummed for a good 8 to 10 minutes looking up account info. I asked her if this was the official hold music and she said "No, this is." And began to hum loudly. I've had to call Xbox Live customer support twice now... and have been treated like ***** both times.
My last run-in with these lovely people is described here: http://digg.com/tech_news/Just_Cancel_the_Account_2#c4614103 - actorboy, on 10/11/2007, -7/+48I like this lady.
- mc7winkie, on 10/11/2007, -9/+46Well you're an ass. I applaud that woman and am glad you're banned.
- 8ight, on 10/11/2007, -25/+9I'm not banned. When did I ever say anything about being banned? I didn't say anthing about even being modded. I just said I canceled my account. I am, without a doubt, not banned.
- 8ight, on 10/11/2007, -17/+7@ coasters2k
I sound like I'm being the *****? Yes, I mouthed off a bit, but only after hearing how pissy she was treating me. But I'm not going to defend what I even said to her. I don't care about that. I don't really care that she told me to "feel free to die". It's funny, and it's very unprofessional. But I'm pretty easy going and nearly nothing can get me rattled. If I was upset, I'd call back or shoot off some emails. Bahh, whatever anyway. Did I cancel my account just because of the banning? Yes... and no. Yes, because I think there are legit uses for modded consoles. Why is it okay to bag on one sort of DRM but not the other? No, because I really don't use the Live service anymore and it was due for renewal in two weeks. I was done with it anyway, why not send a little message and do it tonight??? And again with the assuming... who said anything about a credit card? You know you can buy membership cards? - MisterFlaut, on 10/11/2007, -17/+8Hahaha, that's the type of woman who deserves to get cancer.
8ight isn't an ass. You're all just brain-dead ***** drones. - frygar, on 10/11/2007, -9/+1So wait, if I mod my 360, I don't have to see those retarded "With this much space, games are just the beginning" adspace for an over-priced hard-drive?
Count me in. - deadbaby, on 10/11/2007, -7/+25Good for her. She's just doing her job. Do you thinks he cares if you cancel your account? Do you think she has ANY say in what goes on in management? I hope you do indeed die.
- 8ight, on 10/11/2007, -14/+3@ deadbaby
Mighty big of you.
And I asked her if she had be canceling a lot of accounts tonight. Her response, "Yes". - mrASSMAN, on 10/11/2007, -7/+10Her job is to insult customers?
- RIGHT0NTIM3, on 10/11/2007, -4/+5** crickets **
- piper999, on 10/11/2007, -2/+21@8ight
"But I'm pretty easy going"
So you actually called up a company to cancel your service two weeks before it was going to expire anyway (no auto renewals on accounts created without a credit card) just to have the satisfaction of insulting a random customer service rep?
You don't sound very easy going to me. In fact you sound like you have a very large and very uncomfortable metal rod stuck up your ass to match the obvious chip on your shoulder. - 8ight, on 10/11/2007, -10/+3Forget it... man, just forget it.
- estvir, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11Wow, that's possibly the best 'owning' by a customer service rep, ever.
You kind of deserved it too, 8ight, as the others pointed out and it's rare people post stories of themselves getting owned. Thanks for breaking the trend, you didn't happen to record it, did you ? I would like to post it on the interwebs with an accompanying picture. - raid517, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6@8ight, damn you're annoying! Even the way you write is annoying.
You clearly think you're very smart, but to everyone else it is clear to see you are really just a dolt!
I'm sure this lady showed great patience with you and you made her job impossible.
I think under the circumstances her response was likely to have been appropriate. - misterjangles, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9what was going on inside 8ights mind:
(before call)
"Oh man, I am going to cancel my live account in protest of this banning. And I only have two weeks left, so really it's no loss to me. That will show M$! Oh, boy I can't wait to hear the M$ rep grovel and cry and plead for me to stay... please stay! (hopefully they might even offer me a free extra month..?? hmm??) This is gonna be sweet!"
(after call)
"wow, that didnt' go the way I thought. That lady was rude. It was as if she didn't really care that I was leaving at all. That bitch! In my mind, I had imagined her kissing my ass but instead she hurt my feelings. that sux! oh well, at least now I can post this terrible experience on digg and people will hate M$ even more! they will worship me!"
(after digg post)
"Mommmmeeeee !!!"
- qmeister, on 10/11/2007, -15/+9Buy a Wii
- GodsFavorite, on 10/11/2007, -9/+9I don't use XB360 so I'm curious, the firmware updates... Aren't they published by M$? If so why would they be banned? And if not who makes them and what do they do?
- 8ight, on 10/11/2007, -6/+19They're hacked firmwares mainly made my "Commodore4ever". They are illegal and they break the terms and conditions of Xbox Live.
- kris33, on 10/11/2007, -7/+6They are not illegal in countries with proper laws.
- WileEPeyote, on 10/11/2007, -4/+13They are NOT ILLEGAL in the United States, they do however break the terms of usage for XBox Live.
- Cyber_Akuma, on 10/11/2007, -3/+23Legality dosent matter, MS made Live, MS made the Xbox. They cannot stop you from modding your system, then can stop you form using THEIR live service if they don't like what you are doing on it.
- Gunrun, on 10/11/2007, -5/+9They ARE illegal in the US, and in the EU. They circumvent Copyright protection, which breaks the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, and a similar law in Europe, of which I cannot remember the name.
- noisymime, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3@Gunrun
No modding your Xbox is NOT illegal. Distrubuting the information on how to do it is possibly illegal, but is nothing in the DMCA to say that actually doing it is illegal (Unless you copy content of course) - WileEPeyote, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1From what I can tell (I've only done minimal research), many of the actions around this law are untested in the courts. Several companies have sued, but dropped their suits before they came to any conclusion. Either way, it breaks the term of use, so they wouldn't even need the DMCA.
- gfunk84, on 10/11/2007, -8/+32I kinda have to side with MS on this... leveling the playing field is important. However, I think the ban should be for online play only. You should still be able to access the rest of the online content/features.
- edrift101, on 10/11/2007, -3/+20Agreed. If folks still had access to the marketplace - they could still be buying XBLA games, etc...
- Cyber_Akuma, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10Maybe they are hoping for them to buy a second system.
- prockcore, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11"Agreed. If folks still had access to the marketplace - they could still be buying XBLA games, etc..."
Hahah.. the people they banned are the ones who hacked their machines in order to run pirated software.. you think they spend any money on XBLA? - doskir, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3i did i spent about 20k on marketplace and was only using backups (no warez...)
- HaXoR415, on 10/11/2007, -2/+0whatever man im not trippin'.....We can live without live, microsoft is just losing our money. We are playing "backups" on their console. Also, no longer do we pay money for their online service. I'll just say one thing, I think a lot of people are starting to boycott M$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$...
- tehpcgmer, on 10/11/2007, -20/+10This is why I would waste a red cent on a console and this is why I stick to pc gaming..
- Error601, on 10/11/2007, -9/+12So you can get kicked off the PC gaming site for a mod instead?
- mike17032, on 10/11/2007, -14/+7Yes you PC gamers are pure l33tsauce. Feel free to keep cheating. I will stick to the console where kids like yourself get banned.
- tehpcgmer, on 10/11/2007, -22/+4lol @ Error601 Since when the ***** do people get in trouble for playing their pc games with mods?OHH I guess you wouldent know jack ***** about mods being you play with a console thats equivalent to jerking yourself off and letting the jizz crust up on your eyeball..cause that just sums up to what M$ just did to you idiots.
- GodsFavorite, on 10/11/2007, -6/+10Yep, and we can Immediatly go to another site, can you do that with XB?
- bustanskullz, on 10/11/2007, -12/+1at least we consolers are greatful to not have your ignorant ass in our domain.
- mc7winkie, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11Holy *****, people are taking sides on console and PC gaming claiming a console is superior? They are different ladies and it's good that they are different. Now be quite because I plan on taking all of you down equally when Team Fortress 2 comes out.
- FuZi0nDET, on 10/11/2007, -8/+16Sad for the people that weren't going to use this to cheat. Unfortunately this is what has to be done to keep jerk-off cheaters from ruining good games. I stopped playing Halo 2 because of this, not because it was a poor game. I never had dreams of reaching the top leader board but it is annoying to get modded or cheated against by some foul mouth little kid just because they get off on being a pain in the ass, hopefully they can keep this from happening in Halo 3.
- edrift101, on 10/11/2007, -3/+18Actually you couldn't cheat using a copy of a game. No unsigned code is allowed on the system.
- jshadow, on 10/11/2007, -6/+4So they ban modded xbox1's from live, and people still cheated in halo2, so therefore you support banning of 360s to stop cheating?
- Bakagamer, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4Not to rain on your parade, but on the regular Xbox (and I'm not sure where the 360 stands in regards to homebrew) It is possible to mod it to do various other things, like run Xbox Linux, or SNES emulators. Not to say that a good number of people just mod it to cheat.
- Bootes, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2It is still impossible to do anything but run perfect copies of games on the 360. No homebrew, no cheating.
- bunnymanjp, on 10/11/2007, -14/+3lol wii can never replace 360
sell it and buy another one or buy a ps3 - bustanskullz, on 10/11/2007, -14/+12Go TEAM M$!!!!
I personally think that if you modded your 360 already then you had it comin. You are playing in M$ land, what were you thinking? You didnt seriously think they would be passive about that kind of thing this time around did you?- serpentor, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2You have a good point, shame that the pirates are modding you down..
- brandf, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Its not just the modders. I mod down all the kids that still think "M$" is a l33t way to write MS.
- Kinjiru, on 10/11/2007, -16/+7LMAO again yet another reason microshaft sucks and consoles suck too!
- dave932932, on 10/11/2007, -10/+7Sorry if this is a redundant question, but:

- KineticShampoo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+23Let's be honest.
We all know those who mod their '360 are playing bootleg games (read:me). So, I guess I'm out from playing Saints' Row online anymore. v_v- 8ight, on 10/11/2007, -16/+4No, that's not ture. Yes, I've bootlegged a few games, but nothing I've played more than 15 minutes... and two of those games I went out and bought "NHL 07" and "Dead Rising". Any game I own I have also downloaded. Why? Becasue with kids... fragile discs don't last long. They just don't. There are honest uses... and honest people that use it.
- javip, on 10/11/2007, -3/+198ight
So u did mod ur 360, a few comments back u were trying to make out that u hadn't... fool - 8ight, on 10/11/2007, -11/+1Didn't say anything about it in that thread of comments. Yes, I _was_ modded... and for the very reason I just said. Don't tie one conversation into another. And again, like I said above... I can assure my console is not banned. I'm not a fool, as you might think I am.
- piper999, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11Not only are you a fool but you are also a liar. People can see your comments further up the thread.
Funniest part: you got banned so as a futile show of 'defiance' call up to cancel a service you've already been kicked out of. And you couldn't even do that properly - you actually got shafted yet again by the person who kept you on the phone for ten minutes as she polished her nails/laughed at you/read the paper before finally telling you to ***** off and die. Loser! - 8ight, on 10/11/2007, -6/+1Wow, nice people. Anyway, again... I'm not banned. Where are you getting that I am banned? My 360 hasn't been turned on in three months. And why am I a liar? Plus, I put her on speakerphone, so what the hell do I care? Enjoy life Jack.
- springah, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1@8ight:

- RealityCheque, on 10/11/2007, -4/+4Just curious...how many torrents do you have running right now downloading movies and music?
- no1joel, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3To the "I hate people who want something for nothing", comments
We had a chance to play games, for a lot cheaper, online. Life was good.
Sorry if wanting this makes us evil, but before you bitch about us being bad, how many of you have downloaded music / videos / movies? Probably not all, but probably the majority. Don't get all high and mighty on us.
Looks like its back to my PC for me :) - edrift101, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I just got off the phone with a couple hackers and they hate you too. They also mentioned that they have a deep sense of satisfaction, now that they've read your post.
- zangief, on 10/11/2007, -11/+37Anyone who bitches about beeing banned because they violated the Xbox Live terms of service is a complete moron.
- CptCarnage, on 10/11/2007, -1/+57Am I the only one seeing a bunch of XBOX360's going up on ebay cheap in the near future?
- GazP, on 10/11/2007, -4/+4i bet
- TheUnashamed, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I was just thinking the same thing... :D
- Nysul, on 10/11/2007, -4/+13What did you people expect, them to just sit there twiddling their thumbs? I would prefer it if the console was open as well, but if I was MS I would have done the same thing. At least they didn't brick the console on purpose. While I feel like we should be able to do whatever we want with the console, MS has no obligation to provide live service to us on our terms.
- Tigaz, on 10/11/2007, -12/+1If my 360 ever was to get banned, I would just trade it in. Move my problem onto someone else.

"You get nothing! You lose! Good day sir!"- absinth1977, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11ROTFL... I SO had a mental image of Bill Gates wearing that gods awful top-hat from Willy Wonka.
- spongy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1"You get nothing! You lose! Good day sir!"
I think you mean nothing but free games.
I'm sure they've saved enough money in the last year and a half to be able to afford a new console.
Oh, and they can keep getting free games, they just can't play online with them. That is until hackers find a way to make it undetectable.
- Reno582, on 10/11/2007, -2/+18Well its your box you can do what you will with it, then again, its their network and they will do what they will with it.
- xL0Sx, on 10/11/2007, -5/+12Well you can count on one thing.
XBLM sales are going to taper off slightly, and while I wouldn't say they will fall off. 360 sales will be affected.
At Least now maybe more time will be devoted to getting homebrew and some version of XBMC to run on the 360.
I'm perfectly happy with my Live-less Xbox1 Media Center.- mike17032, on 10/11/2007, -10/+12This will have almost 0 effect on sales. You are kidding yourself if you think even half of 1% mod their consoles or even give a flying ***** about doing so.
- seraph741, on 10/11/2007, -4/+3ya, i would bet that if the modded console numbers were very significant, they would not ban them from Xbox Live because they would be screwing themselves over. It must be a really small number.
- bustanskullz, on 10/11/2007, -7/+8Good call, M$ probably had an ass load of data and the total amount of people that had modded boxes was insignificant and decided, "Let the brick fest begin!"
- mastercheif, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4360 sales will be affected, positively. People running banned 360s will have to get new ones.
- heinousjay, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Game sales won't be affected, though, since the banned people weren't paying for them anyway, and games sales are where the money is.
- DuhStupid, on 10/11/2007, -7/+1Glad i was just playing my original 2k7 game today....

No wonder your at home still living with your parents sucking the great tit.Maybe it is because you spend your hours being a spellchecker instead of having a life.

- GazP, on 10/11/2007, -11/+2Anyone else have trouble with there connection to internet today??
My xbox got banned from live, this happened a few hours ago... and ever since then i have not been able to resolve dns addresses on my pc... couldnt get to any websites or anything. I had not changed any settings, my network adapter manually configured with an IP, and dns points to the router. This has always worked until M$ banned my xbox... now I have to set the dns settings to my ISP's dns... Yes I know this is how it should be... but why doesn't it work the other way around any more?? Ive also been having extreme problems with wifi on the router since the ban... constant disconnects and often doesn't find it..
WHAT THE HELL?!
anyone else experiencing this... please let me know! - prove im not going mad!- GuitarWizard, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7It's probably just your ***** ISP.
- tehpcgmer, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2You are experiencing the sad reality of console gaming the solution to your problem would be to take your XB and everyone elses that have also came to this sad realization and network them all together with a copy of nix on each one then start launching massive DDoS's at M$ with XB360's MWAHAHA!!!!!! then of course move to pc gaming...
- actorboy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4@ tehpcgmer
Shorter sentences and punctuation. Learn them.
- Jansson, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2I started using backups with mine after my copy of Gears got scratched. After I read this, I threw in one of my retail discs and checked if I was banned (I wasn't - yet).
I also haven't played my 360 in a week or so. I'm curious if they're just working through their list of offenders or if I dodged a bullet. - Cyber_Akuma, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Ok, so, I know that systems that hacked the firmware on their dvd drives got banned, but what about any other type of unofficial modification?
Like using your own harddrive or those devices that allow you to read the data off a 360 harddrive?
Since I cannot play games from other regions or homebrew with the firmware hack it didnt interest me, but im constantly under 1gig space free on my Harddrive, and $180 for a 120 gig drive is just robbery, so I have been considering using the hack that allows you to use your own 120gig sata drive in the 360. - 4DFX, on 10/11/2007, -13/+2What the hell do people even see in these xboxes?
Way to go M$, this is exactly what your costumers want, yea! ban them all!- QuickFix, on 10/11/2007, -5/+7No, this is not what all their consumers want... I have no problem if you wanna mod your machine... *****, go crazy with it, (make it glow and leak dry ice smoke for all I care) just stay outta of my online games. The last thing I need is more cheaters/exploiters ruining the my gaming experience (you know, the one I paid money for).
- n0ydz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Quickfix, FYI, no one can cheat games on the 360, besides using already exsisting software glitches. DVD drive firmware hacks do not allow one to play modified games, as the X360 is unable to run unsigned code of any kind.
