MASTER OF HER DOMAIN

โ€‹Alisa Libby writes young adult fiction in her spare time. She used to have a website to promote her writing: alisalibby.com. She started it years ago, when it wasn't easy to set up a website โ€” you either had to learn HTML or hire a pro. Alisa went with the latter. But the site was still clunky and hard to use, and so, when GoDaddy sent her notices that her domain was about to expire, she decided to let it go. She didn't think anyone else would want the domain, anyway.

Alisa quickly regretted her decision. What if people searched for her and got confused? Worse, what if her teenage readers found the domain and it'd been turned into something inappropriate, like a porn site?

When she tried to reclaim alisalibby.com, Alisa discovered someone had snatched it up right after she'd given up ownership. Why would someone want to buy a domain that was Alissa's first and last name? On top of that, the person had posted something peculiar: Alisalibby.com had turned into a website featuring a man in a tuxedo, doffing his top hat, and a bunch of writing in Japanese:

This week, Reply All's Alex Goldman hikes up his khakis, laces up his loafers and returns to his previous job of IT professional for another installment of "Super Tech Support." Alex will try his best to return alisalibby.com to its original owner.
