- ChessPieceFace, on 09/10/2008, -1/+64FTA; "A McCain-Palin ad has FactCheck.org calling Obama's attacks on Palin "absolutely false" and "misleading." That's what we said, but it wasn't about Obama.
Our article criticized anonymous e-mail falsehoods and bogus claims about Palin posted around the Internet. We have no evidence that any of the claims we found to be false came from the Obama campaign.
The McCain-Palin ad also twists a quote from a Wall Street Journal columnist. He said the Obama camp had sent a team to Alaska to "dig into her record and background." The ad quotes the WSJ as saying the team was sent to "dig dirt."
McCain/Palin cannot tell the truth.- pixelate, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2McCain has spent the last week:
a) fabricating the 'lipstick on a pig' idiocy
b) airing an ad that turns a bill meant to protect kids from sexual predators into "Obama wants to teach sex ed to kindergarteners!"
c) using, of all things, FactCheck.org... to anchor another misleading ad
I'm almost impressed. Or horrified, I can't tell which anymore.
- pixelate, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2McCain has spent the last week:
- bitfreak, on 09/10/2008, -1/+61The behavior of he McCain/Palin crew is the utter epitomy of grease-ball politics: say an outright untruth, say it with conviction, and you'll most likely get away with it. For them, the truth is meaningless, unless it's a means to an end or convenient. Then it's fine. So, in a nutshell, they stand for the "say anything/do anything to get elected and that's cool" crowd. More of the same, by action and deed. The have stooped so low as to co-op Obama's messaging, even to the point of cloning his website design. McCain's campaign is so unorignal it's disgusting.
My wife pointed something out; her Mom only listens to the right, so she doesn't know what Obama's website looks like, or what he says in his speeches. So for her and millions of other drones in the GOP, they only get one side of the message, and it looks original. We watch both sides, listen to both side, listen to the argumnents and the rebuttals. We watch MSNBC, FOX, and CNN. We listen to both Rachel Maddow and Rush Limbaugh when we have time (even thought it's painful).
The difference on one side versus the other is stark and scary in terms of accuracy, vehemence, and utter inflexibility. I think things will get darker before they get better. And if McCain wins...well....I think the United States will tear itself apart from within. - kmom5, on 09/10/2008, -1/+53I actually went to factcheck.org immediately after watching this ad and discovered this to be the case.
Another day, yet another misleading and deceitful ad.
Another day with no sign of a plan from McCain.- sullivanst, on 09/10/2008, -0/+19McCain doesn't have a plan.
Phil Gramm probably does, but it probably won't help us out much.
Karl Rove clearly has a plan, but it's not in our best interests.
Big Oil has a plan, which hurts the planet.
Putin has a plan, which McCain's kneejerk reactions might play into.
- sullivanst, on 09/10/2008, -0/+19McCain doesn't have a plan.
- rotorrocket, on 09/10/2008, -5/+22DISPICKABLE POLITICS!!! HOW IS THIS CHANGE?

- MadMeninc, on 09/10/2008, -0/+28NO MORE REDNECKS IN OFFICE
- BuryHuffPost, on 09/11/2008, -2/+1YEAH!!!
McCain and Bush are such stupid REDNECKS!!!
They probably have cows on their private jets and cars on their mansion's front lawns!!!
They're probably wearing dirty wife beaters under those $1000 tailored suits!!- swrostmore, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2perhaps he was referring to bird-huntin'-face-shootin' Cheney or snowmobile-racin'-moose-dressin' Palin?
- BuryHuffPost, on 09/11/2008, -2/+1YEAH!!!
- tatjana77, on 09/10/2008, -0/+24Who knew lying was so easy to get away with?
- indi4Obama, on 09/10/2008, -0/+29John McCain has lost every drop of honor and dignity with his ads. Every decent American should be outraged by the McCain campaign's slimy attempt, and go out to register Democratic voters. American people should not tolerate this condescending, manipulative and insulting McCain campaign and defeat the McCain/Rove tactics. John McCain of 2004 would be ashamed of the John McCain of 2008.
- sugarazor, on 09/10/2008, -0/+23That new McCain ad with the wolves is racist. The wolf that gets the most screen time is black and it's stalking its prey - they prey being Sarah Palin. It also shows him lurking in the shadows at the end of the video. So here the Republicans are, trying to draw a parallel of a black man hunting a white woman - "Hungry Like the Wolf" isn't just a Duran Duran song about jungle fever, apparently.
Hey, if this line of thinking works with "lipstickgate," then it should work here too.- itsJALbert, on 09/11/2008, -3/+1Buried for being the bizzare sort of ***** that the republicans throw at Obama all the time.
- ZenMojo, on 09/10/2008, -0/+25Okay. So can the media just start calling the McCain campaign a bunch of liars, or is that beyond the appropriate etiquette in these matters?
- guestaccount, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2Then they would just complain about a media bias, even though its the truth.
- keigwyn, on 09/12/2008, -0/+1NPR at least is doing so, every time Palin repeats the "Bridge to Nowhere" or it is discussed, they say that what she is claiming is untrue. They even had someone on that explained the history of it and how the money went to Alaska, anyhow, just not earmarked for that particular project.
- keigwyn, on 09/11/2008, -0/+17If you are as disgusted as I am, go to:
http://www.truthfightsback.com/page/speakout/cross ...
It has a tool to help you write letters to the editor of local, regional, and national papers and media outlets. This is how you fight back.
Also, register to vote. Register others to vote. Volunteer. Speak out, speak to your neighbors and your family and friends. This election is too important to sit back and give up. It is too important to say "someone else will do it, I'm to busy/shy/uninformed." Get informed, give your time, only 50+ days left to make a difference!- uncleosbert, on 09/11/2008, -0/+7it's true. i went to an event last night because mccain and palin terrify me. once upon a time i was glad that mccain had a chance, because he seemed to have principles. but now it seems that there is no trick he won't try to seize power, while he hides behind this woman and her family.
- JenniferInMO, on 09/11/2008, -0/+18The McCain camp distorts and lies everyday to try to distract the public from what is at stake in this election. Let's focus. Remember what is at stake here. From now on I am going to post the following message every time I see one of these distortions. I like keigwyn's idea too and I think I will incorporate his link (above) in future postings.
WE ALL NEED TO SAY: ENOUGH!
ALL OF US NEED TO PITCH IN NOW:
Check your voter registration now. Some people are falling off the rolls for various reasons: https://www.voteforchange.com/ Make sure your friends and family are registered too.
Donate what you can as often as you can. Help me to meet my grassroots fundraising goal: http://my.barackobama.com/page/outreach/view/main/ ... Donate to the Senators fighting tough, well funded battles: http://www.dscc.org/ Go to the action center and help by making calls (you can even do it from home!), canvass, help with voter registration, or do any of the many other things you can help: http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/actioncente ... Just do something every day, even if it's something little. We are running out of time to help change the direction of this country.
NOT 4 MORE OF THE LAST 8 YEARS! - twoofmyfriends, on 09/11/2008, -11/+1McBush, and *****.
sarah palin = *****. ***** her. ***** mccain. - SheilaNoya, on 09/11/2008, -0/+19We've just endurred 8 years of having a liar in the White House who kept us all bitterly divided.
Let's not repeat that mistake again - OK?
McCain has surrounded himself with all of Bush's worst hencemen and smear merchants. America is falling apart right now and we can't afford to waste another 4 years with McCain trying to pretend he's not Bush, while continuing all of the same failed policies that screwed us in the first place. - davidpdx, on 09/11/2008, -1/+9John McPalin lies threw his teeth. He is not capable of telling the truth. The GOP continues to lie, cheat and swindle.
- bwither, on 09/11/2008, -0/+12The funny part is there actually is a Just The Facts vidcast where Emi Kolawole talks about McCain's, "Pattern of deceit" regarding Obama's tax plan.
McCain is a liar and thinks we're stupid. - cedarbaydave, on 09/11/2008, -0/+8Unless something happens to completely unravel the McCain campaign it is going to get much worse the closer we get to election day.
More of the Shame :-( - jeremyduffy, on 09/11/2008, -0/+5I dugg it but didnt' want to since the pussies wouldn't write "They Lied" and instead used the phrase "Less than Honest"
- angusm, on 09/11/2008, -0/+9The more I see by 'factcheck.org', the more I like them. Above all, I like the fact that they are even-handed, calling both campaigns out when they deserve it.
If they seem to spend more time on McCain's campaign, well, you do the math.- 17999, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2Ok: more ***** about Sarah Palin = more work for fact check.
Ta-Da. - B1663r, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2Meh, they gave Palin a pass on the book censorship, and the distort the fact that she tried to ban books and even tried to fire the librarian. So while technically she didn't manage to ban any books, SHE TRIED. I don't see how that merits a pass...
- 17999, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2Ok: more ***** about Sarah Palin = more work for fact check.
- nittahkachee, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2What depresses me is that the American electorate seem to be as stupid as McCain and Palin seem to think they are. They get caught in a lie and do they retreat or hang their heads in shame? NO! They keep on repeating the lie, as if by repetition it will magically become true, and the Right seems to follow along with them by the ring in their noses.
- keymanjim3, on 09/11/2008, -11/+0Buried as inaccurate.
factcheck.org is a soros entity. There's no facts to be found there.- LenKatzman, on 09/11/2008, -0/+3This comment by keymanjim3 is a lie. It is a complete fabrication and I can only assume it is an intentional attempt at deceit.
FacftCheck.org IS NOT NOW AND NEVER HAS BEEN A "SOROS" ENTITY. That is a lie!
The following is from FactCheck's website:
-------------
"The Annenberg Political Fact Check is a project of the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania. The APPC was established by publisher and philanthropist Walter Annenberg in 1994 to create a community of scholars within the University of Pennsylvania that would address public policy issues at the local, state, and federal levels.
The APPC accepts NO funding from business corporations, labor unions, political parties, lobbying organizations or individuals. It is funded primarily by the Annenberg Foundation."
-------------
So there's the truth. FactCheck has never taken a single dime from any individual, Soros or otherwise. I caution everyone to never believe anything said by keymanjim3 as the commenter has proven a willingness to lie.- keymanjim3, on 09/11/2008, -2/+0And yet you believe ever thing obambi says.
Soros does fund factcheck.org. You are the liar.
- keymanjim3, on 09/11/2008, -2/+0And yet you believe ever thing obambi says.
- swrostmore, on 09/11/2008, -0/+4Since McCain used FactCheck.org in his campaign ads, does it mean that McCain is a "soros entity" by association? Or does it mean that McCain is willing to use inaccurate sources to smear his opponent?
- keymanjim3, on 09/11/2008, -1/+0You've never had a correct post on this site.
- LenKatzman, on 09/11/2008, -0/+3This comment by keymanjim3 is a lie. It is a complete fabrication and I can only assume it is an intentional attempt at deceit.
- RealHyperX, on 09/11/2008, -12/+1yeah factcheck.org needs to fact check itself...
Liberals are getting desperate...- swrostmore, on 09/11/2008, -0/+4McCain is the one using Factcheck in his campaign ads, does that mean he's getting desperate?
- BohicaTwentyTwo, on 09/11/2008, -10/+1"Dubious Internet postings" = Huffington Post articles on Digg
"mass e-mail messages" = Obama Supporters - David1752, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2Just like The Bush administration twist the truth into your favor. The American people wont
buy it this time. NO MORE LIES!!!! - 17999, on 09/11/2008, -1/+3Like zebras that can't be seen as black and white on black & white TV (snopes.com bit), factcheck.org is not flawless.
I agree that McCain Palin misrepped them.
They missed on the McCain ad about the sex ed to kids. The course guidelines referred to by the Obama campaign were the source of the sex ed for Kindergardeners claim. Factcheck.com only looked at the law, which was not specific on that subject. Since it was Bill Burton that referred to the course materials, it's fair game to say that was the Obama position.
EVERYBODY needs to look into things for THEMSELVES. Stop being sheep. Get ideas from digg... verify them yourself!- TalentedMoron, on 09/11/2008, -0/+0You REPs are the master of twisting the facts and changing the subjects. I thought we were talking about the false ad of the McCain camp here. That sex ed thing is a different topic. Sigh !
- 17999, on 09/11/2008, -0/+1Sorry, didn't RTFA. There are so many false McCain ads to choose from.
- TalentedMoron, on 09/11/2008, -0/+0You REPs are the master of twisting the facts and changing the subjects. I thought we were talking about the false ad of the McCain camp here. That sex ed thing is a different topic. Sigh !
- youliveinfear, on 09/11/2008, -0/+6So on the one hand, we have underhanded comments made by left wing blogs and sources, which Mccain/right wing blogs attribute to Obama but Obama distances from(ie, Trig is Palin's kid).
OTOH we have underhanded comments made not only by right wing blogs but also by Mccain himself(ie, the lipstick).
Seems like a pretty large distinction between the two, and while I don't make any excuse for left wing blogs that spread unsubstantiated and vile rumors, it's pretty obvious that Obama doesn't support this kind of politics. Mccain, however, is acting like your avereage LGF, FR, WND poster. Quite telling. - TalentedMoron, on 09/11/2008, -0/+1I can't help but wodner is this the sort of integrity McCain wants to run the country with? Doesn't WMD ring any bell? He is just flat out lying in the broad daylight. And Republicans still ask "Why you DEMs are so angry?" McCain WAS a man of honor, not anymore. That's very sad that half of the American people still believe in GOP.

Subject: more on pork and lipstick
You know, they say the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull: lipstick.
Republican V. P. Candidate Gov. Sarah Palin
know the difference between a pork barrel Gov and putting pork on your table?
coincidentally also lipstick.
HOMELESS MULTI-DISABLED DEMOCRAT
Alaska and Hawaii pork barrel leadership - with and without lipstick
http://www.cagw.org/site/Pa...
While only two bills were enacted, the states of Alaska and Hawaii, which have been the top two states in pork per capita every year but one since 2000, were served more then their fair share of bacon by Senators Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) and Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii). In the defense appropriations bill alone, Alaska received $209,900,000, a 127 percent increase over the total of $92,425,000 in 2006.
family values?
these curent women governors are NOT women WHO REPRESENT MOST AMERICA or american WOMEN'S VALUES- the represent the oil barons! - jellygraph, on 09/13/2008, -0/+1I say that McCoin ought to keep spreading lies. We ought to be encouraging him... eventually it will become a theme and even the mainstream media won't be able to ignore it and even his own supporters will start leaving.
I don't know why he feels the need to be lying so much, though... - fivo7, on 09/13/2008, -0/+2factcheck.org requests mccain to fact check, lol
