- PossFIMH, on 07/03/2008, -6/+8I was half expecting a quiet 128gb HD upgrade too
- virtualball, on 07/04/2008, -5/+57Nice! Now it's almost, kind of, sorta affordable. Well, at least Kanye can get a new one for less money...

- floejoe, on 07/04/2008, -11/+19I used to be an early adopter until I bought my first iPod mini only to have it replaced by the 30 gb iPod video shortly thereafter. As soon as I bought that, the iPod touch hit the market...
I'm holding off for the mind controlled iPod now.- flarn2006, on 07/04/2008, -0/+18To make that come quicker, why not buy an iPod touch?
- DeathJux, on 07/04/2008, -1/+21Uh, you were an "early adopter" of the iPod Mini and the iPod Video came out shortly thereafter? You do realize that the iPod Video came out a year and a half after the Mini, right?
- colonelpanic, on 07/04/2008, -0/+5Had my video for 2 years now, and its still kickin-only reason i want a new one is storage.
- virtualball, on 07/04/2008, -1/+7I hate to break it to you, the mini was never in the main iPod line...
- samard2002, on 07/04/2008, -3/+2What does that even mean? How could an iPod not be in the main iPod line?
- mrgoat, on 07/04/2008, -0/+5What? You mean when you buy *****, other ***** comes out that is better?
***** me sideways.
- flarn2006, on 07/04/2008, -5/+18I'd rather have the MacBook Air than a pile of newspapers!
- solid12345, on 07/04/2008, -2/+1But with the hardware of the Macbook Air you could get more information out of a newspaper faster.
- ahawks, on 07/04/2008, -3/+24Yes, we know, this story was already on the front page about 8 hours ago.
http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/08/07/03/appl ... - invinciblenow, on 07/04/2008, -1/+20***** this, when is the new macbook pro coming out?

- colonelpanic, on 07/04/2008, -4/+2why re-invent the wheel?
- stevealford, on 07/04/2008, -4/+2Apple sells wheels now? I know a few people here in the Bay Area who would pay half a fortune for rims with the Apple logo on them.
- Wakuko, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1I know from inside sources an Air Nano will be shown at MacWorld in january.
Apple will redefine the concept of mini laptops again.
Asus we barely knew you! - diggimator, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1I'm waiting for the "imminent" Mac mini upgrade myself:

- givemereplay, on 07/04/2008, -4/+99Maybe if it dropped TO 500 dollars I'd consider it. These are hard times.
- Fergi, on 07/04/2008, -11/+1Didn't see that one coming! Woah!!?!?
- bigteebo, on 07/04/2008, -4/+73This is like news of the Bugatti Veyron dropping $10K in price. Still outta my range.
- handler, on 07/04/2008, -12/+2You make me lol
- crazzy88ss, on 07/04/2008, -4/+3More like $100,000, but who's counting?
- digiguy, on 07/04/2008, -7/+4No whiners for the, " I just bought a Macbook air 2 months ago, how dare they drop the price". lol
- iofthestorm, on 07/04/2008, -1/+16That's because no one actually bought one.
/zing! - blackjack75, on 07/04/2008, -0/+5Or those who did have don't understand how 500$ is any noticeable difference in their budget...
- iofthestorm, on 07/04/2008, -1/+16That's because no one actually bought one.
- funkeepickle, on 07/04/2008, -4/+50It's still ridiculously expensive...

- samard2002, on 07/04/2008, -2/+1I wish it had a DVD drive, a faster processor, more memory, a 17" monitor and weighed about 5 more pounds. Then it would be a perfect Air notebook.
- clockdist, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1I'm sold.

unless youre rich of course. but then would $500 really matter all that much?
i like apple computers but not the MBA or their graphics cards. - NathanCH, on 07/04/2008, -9/+1ALREADY ON THE FRONT PAGE. =/
- brainnovate, on 07/25/2008, -3/+2rerun. seriously. not only that but get me a 200+gb SSD and I might buy it, at any price.

- Mikhail101, on 07/04/2008, -5/+9You would have to be stupid or a real douchebag to buy one of those.
- burnedtubes, on 07/04/2008, -3/+2Here drink this Kool-aid Kevin made for you.... it will all make sense soon enough. :)
- browwiw, on 07/04/2008, -1/+2How many times I got to tell you? It was Flavor-Aid.

- Jeremyz0r, on 07/04/2008, -15/+12High end my ass, all Macs are quite a few generations behind. Go look at their site. The "Mac Pro Desktop" runs two 'server' quad processors. Fast maybe, but it's not meant for gaming. Second, the ATI video cards are the X1900; LMFAO?!
- wanderson, on 07/04/2008, -6/+6Go buy an Alienware then, you stupid prat.
- santaliqueur, on 07/04/2008, -2/+13You realize it's not meant for gaming, and you still hold it to those standards. My Mac Pro runs HL2 and TF2 at max settings. Some people use their computer for real work, not every machine is for games.
- Kanidia, on 07/04/2008, -0/+3Sorry to ask, but why did you buy a Mac Pro for "real work"? What kind of work requires that power?
- santaliqueur, on 07/04/2008, -0/+4I work with Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, and Illustrator, primarily. A slower computer could perform the same tasks, but I chose to get the tasks done much more quickly, which means more money in my pocket.
- Ramble, on 07/04/2008, -1/+1You could just build a faster PC for less money.
- santaliqueur, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1And how would I run Final Cut Pro?
Please don't think OSX86 is the answer. It's a fun project, but I would never use it for real work. It's not nearly reliable enough, and I spent the extra money so I can be sure the computer will work when I want it to.
Is there any other reason why I shouldn't have bought a Mac Pro?
- KMartSheriff, on 07/04/2008, -1/+8Your ignorance is amazing.
- noloveIII, on 07/04/2008, -1/+2or an 8800
- reformation, on 07/04/2008, -1/+3It isn't meant for gaming, idiot. See the bit that says 'pro'? Its for people who WORK, not time wasters like you.
- AchaIemoipas, on 07/04/2008, -2/+0I couldn't work with that crap.
Why would I buy a $2500 laptop that can't even do what my current $700 laptop can do?
It's a ridiculous product for ridiculous people. 64gb...
"Look how thin my laptop is! Now all I have to do is plug this external hard drive, plug this external dvd drive and I'm good to go! Nowhere".
- AchaIemoipas, on 07/04/2008, -2/+0I couldn't work with that crap.
- Jeremyz0r, on 07/04/2008, -4/+4***** you Mac-o-philiacs. I will not pay 30x the normal price for outdated ***** HARDWARE.
..!.,
Edit: @wanderson: "Go buy an Alienware then, you stupid prat"
At least I would save money, however, I prefer building my computers.
Run Crysis on high with more then 30fps for under $1,000 anyone?- Burn, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2That doesn't exactly count as an 'ultra thin/ laptop though does it...
I build my own computers /and/ run Mac OS, works for me :)
- Burn, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2That doesn't exactly count as an 'ultra thin/ laptop though does it...
- r3m1x645, on 07/04/2008, -4/+6Now it's only costs twice as much as a decent PC. Humanity rejoice!
- jman583, on 07/04/2008, -1/+2Twice? more like quadruple the cost of my 600 dollar laptop with better specs then the Macbook air.
- flare1028us, on 07/04/2008, -0/+3That's actually what I thought the title said at first glance... I was already reaching for my check card.
- artfuldodga, on 07/04/2008, -4/+7Not a surprise, what sane person would buy it for its previous pricetag?
- dtfinch, on 07/04/2008, -2/+3Any Mac user.
- Darkyuubi, on 07/04/2008, -5/+2eat your heart out early adapters ^_~
- pakman221, on 07/04/2008, -5/+0Still to expensive for me.
- ronaldmonster, on 07/04/2008, -3/+2Digg story hits front page twice.
- supersteve, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2still way to much money, just spend less and get a macbook or a bit more and get a pro.
- almondfilter3, on 07/04/2008, -2/+2Way too much for what you can get for a couple bucks at a store: a notepad. Cause with the lack of power that thing has, thats all you can do, type on OpenOffice
- Kanidia, on 07/04/2008, -6/+1That was a very sudden and large price drop... can't Apple just do small price drops, but more often? Or maybe increase specs more often (but not huge increases), and not announce it on the front page all the time? Computers don't SUDDENLY evolve, they improve gradually... and that should be reflected by the company. This will prevent people from "waiting" for a product, and have less people who will feel bad for early adopting.
- mCanada, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2It's amazing how far things have come. In 2002 my G4 PB 1.33GHz 512MB 80GB HD Radeon 8500 - 15" was $2600 CAD, or about $2200 US (I think at the time). I'm not really a mac or pc zealot, but looking back over the past 6 years on my powerbook I will say that it's served me well. I'm glad that I did get the Applecare on it, even thought it was rather expensive. The G4's seemed to have higher defect rates so I may have lucked out on the Applecare roulette; as the logic board, HD, LCD and trackpad were replaced. The G4's still are excellent for the basic's but Leopard really needs ram. My point is: I opted for the high end in '02 like the Mac Book Air, but it's lasted for 6 years through my meandering degree.
- ButchersBoy, on 07/04/2008, -1/+1Wow, when you finally get a job you'll find that everyone is on a PC. Unless you work in media, that is.
- pantone286, on 07/04/2008, -2/+3Amazingly still overpriced.
- dtfinch, on 07/04/2008, -1/+1I went shopping for a new laptop a few weeks ago and settled on a $350 Eee PC.
This costs 1/2 more than my last 4 computers combined. - reformation, on 07/04/2008, -2/+1Wow! thats 2 $500 price cuts in one day!!
http://digg.com/apple/Apple_cuts_SSD_based_MacBook ...
Don't post duplicates please - ds|tan, on 07/04/2008, -3/+2The pricing of the macbook air is a joke. $500 less doesnt make it any more affordable, considering it doesnt have much to offer other than its portability, I mean, wtf? Mono speaker? Havent seen that since like, forever..
- macmangb, on 07/04/2008, -3/+1Only Apple is good enough to provide these price cuts, which other company cuts $500 off their products? Certainly not Dell or HP.
- Electricpigdigg, on 07/04/2008, -3/+0So wanted the solid state one but couldn't justify the price tag. Ended up with a sluggish 80Gb version. :(
- Dunhamzzz, on 07/04/2008, -0/+3BOTHERED! It hasn't changed in the UK.
- waydee, on 07/04/2008, -2/+3Buried as duplicate applespam.
- diggimator, on 07/04/2008, -1/+3Wow, it's still expensive.
And not user-serviceable. - juicebag, on 07/04/2008, -2/+3It's still 2500 dollars for a crappy computer.
- star7, on 07/04/2008, -1/+0This costs 1/2 more than my last 4 computers combined.
Still to expensive for me. - alexanEmpire, on 07/04/2008, -1/+2Great...it went from unfordable, to still unfordable.
- vinnieT, on 07/04/2008, -2/+0A $500 price cut means one thing -- nobody is buying the Air.
- jepizacar, on 08/03/2008, -0/+1nice resource....
