islayer.com — The new Aluminium Apple Keyboards have some pretty nice extra shortcuts available for getting to system preferences and controlling Expose's "show all windows", "show desktop" and "show all windows in this application".

- FareTheeWell, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8"Sound" controls also work on the old keyboard. Thanks. Plus I didn't know about the "Not new to the aluminum keyboards" controls.
- dyranios2, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Anyone know of a way to get itunes to pause next track previous track etc like this one does?
I would prefer to keep my white one but keep getting tempted by these itunes controls.- ChromaVita, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I use a program called "SizzlingKeys". I'm sure there are others, but that's just the one I use. It displays a nice little notification in the corner when you change tracks or pause, and it even has the album art in it.

- samadam, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1i use menuet. its donationware, so $5 to the EFF will do. Mapped play/pause to end, last to page up and next to page down. works well.
- shawnanigans, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Gimmesometune is my favourite.

- ploke, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4You can do it with quicksilver triggers.
- blatantly, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I also use quicksilver triggers - it's free and not too tricky. Keys set up are: ctrl-option-command arrow keys. Works in any application (except UT2004 unfortunately)
- noblepenguin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Quicksilver does this (among many other things).

- Whosawhatsis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Add Butler and Proxi to the list of free apps that can do it.
- macmankev, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1YouControl:Tunes also can map controls for everything from play, pause and skip to even track ratings through hot keys. Plus it's free. http://yousoftware.com/tunes/

- danrik, on 10/10/2007, -5/+8Uhm.... all of these work on my powerbook keyboard. Nothing to see here, move along.

- Rileyper, on 10/10/2007, -12/+4Heres my favorite Keyboard hot key, try it yourself "ALT+F4"
- bob12321, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Thats a windows Command, this is for an apple keyboard.
- Rileyper, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Just seeing how many windows users will do it anyways
- davewho, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3ctrl-w will make your screen psychedelic.
- gavroche, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6you can plug an apple keyboard on a windows machine

- bakingoven, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Apple usually advertises features of their products on apple.com like here: http://www.apple.com/keyboard/
- bob12321, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Wow, down.
- daxsymbiont, on 10/10/2007, -10/+2For all the quality of apple that I admit, I must say their input peripherals are *****. Yes, they could have been the pwnage in 1981 but I think it's obvious we now have get passed using only a single braincell for input.
- GregR, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3What exactly did you find wrong with the new keyboard?
Have you even tried it?- Pushkin, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Does it do ctrl-v and ctrl-c ?
that was my biggest problem coming from windows to a mac.- GregR, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2the Command Z(undo) X(cut), C(copy) & V(paste) were originally Mac keyboard shortcuts that MS "borrowed". So yes, but you have to use the move convenient Command key.
- Pushkin, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Does it do ctrl-v and ctrl-c ?
- daxsymbiont, on 10/10/2007, -7/+2Keep digging down but it's the very reason many don't buy apple. Excellent quality, check. They can now run any operating system, check. Assuming the user is an idiot that can't tell his arse from his elbow, check.
- GregR, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I see more trolling and bs but I also see you didn't answer the question.
- TellarHK, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3That's funny, a lot of people feel the same way about thread posters that crib login names from Star Trek characters.

Wow, bravo. Poetic in its irony.

- spamking, on 10/10/2007, -3/+20I heard if you press on the keys, letters appear on the screen.... amazing
- damnyooneek, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5thats only a rumor i wanna see pics
- zybch, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1Don't forget, its an apple-only feature.
No other system can do this! You heard it here, this is an apple first! Anyone else who's OS does this is copying the almighty apple.
- ClOlD, on 10/10/2007, -5/+3Why companies keep making new keyboards since the release of the IBM Model M, I'll never know...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Model_M_Keyboard- daxsymbiont, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Because needing a track to carry it isn't that practical.
- ClOlD, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Huh? I'm sorry; I just don't follow you. Track?
- zombieball, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Yeah he lost me too. A track to carry a keyboard, huh? A race track? A track and field track? Train tracks?
- ClOlD, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Guess he thinks it's too heavy, and is just having trouble being subtle/funny.
I mean, sure; the Model M is heavier than cheap "quiet touch" plastic keyboards, or those made with thin etched layers of lighter metals like this one. I just figure, since it's the one part of your computer that (hopefully, unless you REALLY get frustrated) you're hitting regularly, you want it to have a smooth plastic exterior (so as to not bruise yourself during fits of passion), and a heavy, ridiculously reliable metal plate-and-spring interior.
- ClOlD, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Guess he thinks it's too heavy, and is just having trouble being subtle/funny.
- BoneStamp, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0I know! At least if you're going to change something, keep the good parts:
1. Key caps that can be rearranged to ***** with those who don't touch type
2. Keys that have good volume so people in nearby rooms can hear how fast you type- ClOlD, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2You're neglecting the sheer mass of it! What good is a keyboard if you can't swing it at an annoying coworker and expect to knock his/her teeth out?!?
- BoneStamp, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1That's true. Maybe that's why they redesigned them... for post offices, but then they went and got guns. Good argument to go back to the keyboard weapon, rarely lethal.

- davewho, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3They didn't mention shift-exposé and shift-dashboard. Totally useful.
- burk3, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1the special features are.... a completely wasted server?
- marcedwards, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yeah :(
Hopefully we'll be back soon. Looks like it's the mirror for now.
- marcedwards, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yeah :(
- YuriSakazaki, on 10/10/2007, -6/+2Wow, another Apple article! I thought I'd die without seeing one this hour, thanks!
- SlowMotionJones, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Dugg for use of the Queen's English in the spelling of "Aluminium".
- dudup, on 10/10/2007, -3/+0How come this was dugg? Burying it.
- evelian, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Ugh I HATE when people inform others about information I already know about.
