- Asianwaste, on 11/11/2007, -0/+16I remember that Hockey Puck and am so glad they ditched that design idea. I remember I had a hard time knowing where that thing was aligned everytime my hand left that thing. I shouldn't have to look at the mouse to know which way is it pointing.
- ayeroxor, on 11/09/2007, -0/+6Makes one wonder how companies miss stuff like this in R&D, or (more likely) if it's brought up but ignored because "the design is just so cool"
- nospinhere, on 11/11/2007, -0/+5It appearers that KarazyKorean just got OWNED
- the_snitch, on 11/11/2007, -1/+4My response to them:
Stop posting links in PNG files that I have to type out in my web browser, rather than creating a simple hyperlink I can click on! I'm lazy. - Verdanic, on 11/11/2007, -0/+1@snitch,
You can change a hotlinked image on your server, but you can't change where it links to on a page you have no control over.

It's the "intelligent design" of Apple from 1976 to 2007! - ayeroxor, on 11/09/2007, -1/+5"Wow technology has come a long way..."
Not just ANY technology. 'Wow technology'. - phoomp, on 11/09/2007, -2/+3I would argue that it's amazing *how little* the technology has changed.
Apple I: Keyboard, CPU, Pointer, Monitor
Mac Pro: Keyboard, CPU, Pointer, Monitor
About the only significant change is that the CPUs have gotten faster and the monitors have gotten slimmer.
Even the aesthetics haven't changed much, with the exception of pulling the keyboard out of the CPU enclosure (and that happened pretty early) and the plastics molding is more versatile.- joebaloney, on 11/09/2007, -0/+2The apple I had no "pointer" that I am aware of.
- rasterbator, on 11/11/2007, -0/+1Well, there's that guy phoomp pointing his finger.

- quickjack, on 11/10/2007, -3/+50Remember the scene where Forrest Gump got rich investing in Apple? The year of the Newton. You could have bought Apple in 1994 for around $6.
The evolution of the stock price has been equally impressive.- Asphyxia8489, on 11/10/2007, -1/+24"He said we didnt need to worry about money anymore because he'd bought some fruit company", ahh, gota love that movie
- Morky, on 11/09/2007, -0/+3Actually, you could have bought it for around $7 in 2002.
- lijulijuliju, on 11/10/2007, -0/+0if YOU bought Apple, it won't be worth so much right now ;)
- p0ss, on 11/10/2007, -33/+9..otherwise known as the giant page of ugliness.
- Asphyxia8489, on 11/09/2007, -6/+1Or a giant page of history... if you didnt have those, then you wouldnt have the Aluminium iMac
- JoshuaH, on 11/13/2007, -1/+4You've been a member for over a year, you must have known that was going to get dugg down.
- p0ss, on 11/13/2007, -0/+1Of course, but it doesn't change the fact that the picture is huge and most of it was very ugly.
I am not going to make statements based purely on public opinion, I have my own opinions on things, and a mild burying isn't (and shouldn't be) sufficient incentive to keep me from sharing it :)
Apples design has gotten better over the years, but frankly, from what they started out with, thats not too hard. The only reason they are touted as having good design is because their competitors routinely have such shocking design. Calling something pretty just because it isn't ugly is no way to encourage better design.
None of these are ferraris or gaudis, they are simply white boxes, and that is not worth the continued praise lavished upon them.
Design is about more than appearance, functionality (and not just ease of use) is another major aspect. These are closed systems, there is no tinkering or upgrading to be had. Ipods dont even let you easily change the battery. That is not good design. That is ugly.
Would you have prefered me to lie and say:
"..otherwise known as the giant page of beauty."
That would have gotten me dugg up, but to what end?
Without dissenting opinion we are doomed to a perpetual cycle of self congratulatory intellectual masterbation
- p0ss, on 11/13/2007, -0/+1Of course, but it doesn't change the fact that the picture is huge and most of it was very ugly.
- altrego99, on 11/09/2007, -2/+4Will the Mac Book look as ugly 30 years from now?
- Syphon8, on 11/10/2007, -6/+5It looks ugly now.

- saikyan, on 11/09/2007, -4/+8People can digg this down all they want. It's still true, and there are plenty of examples to prove it.
- Nikole, on 11/09/2007, -9/+2isn't technology grand
- tracydanger, on 11/10/2007, -3/+6Aren't duplicate stories grand? I guess there's at least 259 people that didn't see this last time.
- arbulus, on 11/10/2007, -1/+7exactly. and that's why it doesn't matter if it's a dupe, because 259 DIDN'T see it last time.

- Yibbon, on 11/09/2007, -2/+10Everything on that page is cool except for the iMac 'Patterns'. YUCK
- sambapati87, on 11/10/2007, -0/+1agreed -- those were gross
- guymal, on 11/09/2007, -3/+7Check out that Macintosh Portable. Unbelievable compared to the iPhone.

LOOOL!
- ButterBuddha, on 11/14/2007, -5/+90Evolution??? Clearly Apple has been Intelligently Designed by the hand of Jobs....
- Asianwaste, on 11/09/2007, -1/+6Clever...
- FatherVic, on 11/10/2007, -1/+16you said hand job
- Ninjab3ar, on 11/10/2007, -4/+3Dont give Steve jobs too much credit. He didnt design *****. Give thanks to the industrial design and programming teams that bring Apples products to life.
- PhillipJFry, on 11/10/2007, -0/+6It also takes talent to have good taste and pick the bad from the good. He knows nice design when he sees it and I guarantee you he heavily involved in design aspects. How come you think Apple hasn't had a true two-button mouse for years? He gets the blame for all of the negative aspects of apple design but none for the positive?
- DiggDuggDone, on 11/10/2007, -0/+3The recent credit goes to Jonathan Ive.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonathan_Ive - pocketwookie, on 11/10/2007, -1/+0Did someone say something about hand jobs?
- Asianwaste, on 11/09/2007, -1/+6Clever...
- kidal25, on 11/10/2007, -5/+2I wish they still made Macs with TV's also. I was looking for something like this thanks.

- Tyrghast, on 11/10/2007, -1/+10i remember in elementary and middle school using the mac classic, there was some wicked program that asked you math problems and when you got them right your little car on the screen pulled ahead in the race. got them wrong well, you lost the race.
- esmaeelp, on 11/09/2007, -0/+1Yessss, does anyone know the name? Google failed me.
- astrojith, on 11/10/2007, -4/+41*****. This has been posted over a hundred times. Down you go.
- ketha, on 11/09/2007, -5/+5What no new imacs?... them's the creme of the pile. No ipod touch either. Sloppy.
- Dunhamzzz, on 11/09/2007, -0/+1No new Ipod nano either
- crowbarred, on 11/09/2007, -7/+1I wonder what John Lennon would say (his vision was Apple, but i dont think this)
- tomis, on 11/09/2007, -0/+1What? LOL.
- garionw, on 11/10/2007, -5/+6buried - this was on here a few months ago

- samuelcotterall, on 11/09/2007, -0/+10That's around the time Steve Jobs came back...
- Morky, on 11/09/2007, -1/+1Johnny Ive was around before Steve came back.
- epuiatti, on 11/09/2007, -2/+1That image was made in 1976? I knew i had i had seen it on here before....
You are missing all the new iPods (Nano etc) and Macs - samuelcotterall, on 11/09/2007, -1/+2This has been posted many times before.
- DarkDx, on 11/10/2007, -5/+1Question: Is there any intel xserve?
- CATSCEO, on 11/10/2007, -2/+1Um.... yes?
- tomis, on 11/10/2007, -0/+3Is there any Google? Or even Apple.com? Who knows...
- iSimon, on 11/09/2007, -5/+0Buried. ...Really old. I mean Apple have updated heaps of things since the iPhone. New Nano's, iPod Touch, iPod Classic, New iMacs...
- Jimmerz, on 11/09/2007, -0/+1What part of 'evolution of Apple' didn't you understand? It would imply a history, not the newest products.
- cr4wl3r, on 11/09/2007, -0/+1agreed.
- Jimmerz, on 11/09/2007, -0/+1What part of 'evolution of Apple' didn't you understand? It would imply a history, not the newest products.
- linespin, on 11/09/2007, -4/+2ol stuff.. seen b4
- EthanFeldman, on 11/09/2007, -5/+1"What no new imacs?... them's the creme of the pile. No ipod touch either. Sloppy."
adding two more would make it unsymmetrical, and mess with the feng sui of the whole image, don't you think?- tofslie, on 11/09/2007, -0/+1Not sloppy, it made before they came out.
- SaxxonPike, on 11/10/2007, -17/+12But... can it right-click?
- warragul, on 11/10/2007, -13/+7Yes, has been able to do that unnecessary thing since the last millennium. Go back to your Blue Screen of Death.
- Syphon8, on 11/09/2007, -1/+10Right clicking is uneccessary?
- FatherVic, on 11/09/2007, -0/+5no right click = no opposable thumb
- Syphon8, on 11/10/2007, -0/+1....?
I, like most, right click with my middle finger...
- Syphon8, on 11/10/2007, -0/+1....?
- FatherVic, on 11/09/2007, -0/+5no right click = no opposable thumb
- Syphon8, on 11/09/2007, -1/+10Right clicking is uneccessary?
- GothAlice, on 11/09/2007, -3/+10Yes, actually. On any Mac with a non-Apple or Apple Mighty Mouse. (The iMac puck was a horrible, horrible joke.)
- Stirk, on 11/09/2007, -0/+1If you want to bring up a contextual menu with an apple mouse you can ctrl+click
- postalblowfish7, on 11/09/2007, -1/+7we've been right clicking since the early 90's jackass.
- BossKey, on 11/09/2007, -1/+1Even before Apple shipped a mouse that could right-click (you missed that news, I guess) right-click support was built into Mac OS. Plug in a mouse with a right mouse button, and it would work right.
So if we bury something on Digg for being "old"...you should be so buried.
- warragul, on 11/10/2007, -13/+7Yes, has been able to do that unnecessary thing since the last millennium. Go back to your Blue Screen of Death.
- BrandonB1218, on 11/09/2007, -6/+1Buried because it's old. Search before you post!
- crazed792, on 11/09/2007, -0/+2And check to see if your comment has already been made before you comment on a post...
- chkdg8, on 11/09/2007, -1/+1What about the new imac?
- ipodman, on 11/10/2007, -3/+3Now if they could just fix iMovie '08 so it's got even 10% of the features of iMovie '06 I'd be happy.
- airtran, on 11/09/2007, -2/+4Right, I saw this and it was great...seven months ago.
- graemee, on 11/10/2007, -4/+1Wow, got 4 in the top row. II. Original Mac, IIgs and a IIci.
Mind you there a few missing, II+ and (Color) Classic II - clesch, on 11/09/2007, -2/+4... and I would still take the Apple DB-9 mouse over the Mighty Mouse.
- philipkaplan, on 11/09/2007, -5/+0For some reason this picture makes me super mad and frustrated.
"You have to be awfully stylish yourself not to get sick of it once in a while. It’s the style that gets you; technological ugliness syruped over with romantic phoniness in an effort to produce beauty and profit by people who, though stylish, don’t know where to start because no one has ever told them there’s such a thing as Quality in this world and it’s real, not style."- postalblowfish7, on 11/09/2007, -0/+1For some reason this comment makes me super mad and frustrated.
- vincet, on 11/10/2007, -4/+4Been on digg before. Buried for being old and duplicate.
- SEANWOOKIE, on 11/10/2007, -4/+1Where is Lisa?
Edit :Never mind - Holocaust, on 11/14/2007, -11/+7What about a second mouse button?
- pezoamo, on 11/10/2007, -4/+0It is amazing how far they have come, but I think that picture quality is a factor that should be taken into consideration here
- jetboyterp, on 11/11/2007, -3/+2Where's he Apple IIc ? One of their best designs, in my opinion anyway...especially with the monitor stand... http://oldcomputers.net/appleiic.html
- mrmacky, on 11/11/2007, -3/+1Gah, the hockey puck mouse brings back memories. I hated that thing, I should go dig it out and actually use it to play hockey.
On the flip side, I never knew there was a 20th Anniversary Mac that looked so smexy. - monsterofNone, on 11/11/2007, -6/+1i've owned way to many of those.
- rodo75005, on 11/11/2007, -6/+4How many times have this been on the frontpage ???

- badenglishihave, on 11/10/2007, -0/+19It's amazing how their computers evolved into iPods.
- co79, on 11/11/2007, -3/+3Ah, the Apple II GS, the reason I never bought another apple product until an Ipod shuffle for my wife last year.
- freakygeeky, on 11/10/2007, -2/+2That's funny, I'm in exactly the same situation. Coming out with a great machine and then completely killing support for it about one year later? Nice!
I still have my GS. I get it out when I need a reminder of why I shouldn't buy a Mac Pro.- Lanlost, on 11/10/2007, -0/+1I loved my Apple II GS.. First real computer I ever had.. Learned to program on it thanks to Applesoft Basic and my brother, when I was 5.. of course.. most of that was copying directly from programming books borrowed from the library.. but it was an early early start..
Have you seen what the Apple II GS was actually capable of? Someone ported Wolfenstein 3d to it years later.
Yeah.. they did seem to drop support as soon as the Mac came out.
- Lanlost, on 11/10/2007, -0/+1I loved my Apple II GS.. First real computer I ever had.. - bovilexia, on 11/10/2007, -3/+1the two macs i had in my life were the Apple IIgs and the Power Mac 6100 and are the reason i will never buy a mac product ever again. the IIgs was decent still had its problems which i am willing to chalk up to fairly new technology. but the Power Mac crashed if you breathed on it, i hated that thing. i have used windows ever since. in that time windows has crashed a fraction of the times that my mac crashed on me. if i ever switch defiantly won't be to mac it will be to linux. the only thing really keeping me from doing so, is my addiction to computer games.
- tomis, on 11/09/2007, -0/+1Yea I mean it's not like Apple has a completely different OS now than they did back then. So clearly any new mac you get would have the exact same issues with the OS being complete crap...
- nhprm, on 11/09/2007, -0/+1Did it occur to you that he wasn't using Windows Vista at that time, as well?
- sambapati87, on 11/10/2007, -0/+2IIgs isnt even a Mac?
- freakygeeky, on 11/10/2007, -2/+2That's funny, I'm in exactly the same situation. Coming out with a great machine and then completely killing support for it about one year later? Nice!
- itsme7g, on 11/11/2007, -2/+2Wow looking at this mad me realize that my wife runs a successful business on a computer that is almost 10 years old. The database was written well once and tweaked every once in a while but man to see a decade has nearly slipped by is really amazing. I guess I could give her one of these other macs I have around here. Nah, if it isn't broken...
