In The Battle Between 3D And IMAX, We All Lose
io9.com — Now that Dark Knight director Chris Nolan has boasted about shooting his bat-epic on IMAX how many will follow in his footsteps and make movies for the big boy screen? And with the rise of Avatar and other 3D scifi epics are we about to see a rift between 3D and IMAX technology while story telling takes a backseat?

- Scopitone, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1Yeah, because every production will have the financing to use this incredibly expensive and prohibitive technology. This doesn't threaten plot driven films remotely.
- shibbyo, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1I think that the title is kind of misleading. The article is about how these new technologies are going to take over and leave indie theaters and people who want good stories in the dust, not about IMAX competing with 3D really. Personally, I think it's a crock. These amazing theater technologies have come around in the past, and people get bored of them. A good movie is a good movie, and no expensive tricks will change that.
- etherreal, on 07/09/2008, -1/+1All this article does is lament the ways of the old being taken over by the new. I bet the author prefers CRT over LCDs, film cameras over DSLRs, horses over cars. Move over and let us have our DLP, our 3D and our big ass screens.
