      half of them don't have seatbelts, and in the other half nobody uses them.

      i think it should be law that kids should be required to wear seatbelts on school buses, and greyhound/chinatown/other long-distance buses should start being required to at least have them.

If we are required to have seat belts in cars, and we are lawfully required to have kids in child or booster seats till they reach a certain height, why in the hell are there not seat belts on school buses. I'm not a supporter of the Nanny State (I think it's ludicrous the number of laws that are implemented to protect you from yourself), but since we DO live in one, how is this not something that the "nannies" are up in arms about?

      Realistically, though, no one wears them. Not when I went to school, at least.

One of the videos they showed us was of a school bus that had been hit by a truck that was doing 30 mph on a foggy day. There was a car behind the bus but it got turned into a slab, and the back end of the bush was totally crushed. The instructor said that that accident led to buses being required to have the last four rows empty. We don't have that requirement in Canada though. I guess it's to pick off the jerks that sit in the back seats and throw stuff.
        Is it just a Michigan or Ohio law? Or country wide?

Putting seatbelts on buses adds thousands of dollars to a district's budget, and would require extra maintenance, which would require even more money. That and the fact that a bus is so much bigger than other vehicles, that its added size and weight gives its riders extra protection, and seatbelts wouldn't really do anything. That might be a load of b.s., but I remember being told that by the teacher when we'd go on field trips.

      It doesn't work if the bus tips over.

        Seriously though... the internet is just a bunch of stuff copied to many different websites. The chance of seeing something more than once on Digg or anywhere else is high. So quit bitching if you see it twice. If you don't want dupes then Digg needs one editor. Instead, the whole concept of Digg is to have millions of editors. Maybe Digg would be better if no one posted...

When the crazy redneck driver ran a over a curb kids on the end fell into each other in the aisles, which was quite funny, if you weren't on the outside anyways.
