30 years of facebook [pic]
johncow.us — Here's what an average facebook profile looks like in thirty years.
- 2812 diggs
- digg it

- Littleedgitt, on 12/15/2007, -60/+6I hope people will cancel their facebooks before they are this old.....
thats pretty bad if you don't- rabidmonkey1, on 12/15/2007, -2/+44Old people deserve facebooks, too! This world isn't just for young people, what with your fancy, new-fangled euthanasia systems and all your young-bodied energy! Old people have every right to sit back and complain online and you have to sit there and listen to it ss..sss...sonny......
*dies and crumbles like an indiana jones type corpse* - latrosicarius, on 12/15/2007, -2/+45Because you said this, I'm guessing you're about 15? Sometimes you change your interests when you get older. Sometimes you don't. This generation is the internet generation. Why the hell would you think we'd all just *stop* going online as soon as we get old? Do you think that as soon as you turn 80 you start to like bingo and knitting for no reason?
- quarkie, on 12/15/2007, -5/+1B12, I24, N35, G52, O70

thanks for completely missing the point. no one said "old people don't belong on the internet" -- the implication was more along the lines of "it's pretty pathetic if you are still obsessed with updating your facebook status when you are a grandparent". that's as opposed to finally learning to go outside and *gasp*, TALK to people.- juliolarri, on 12/15/2007, -0/+5in 30 years we wont be able to get outside. *sigh*...
- Hawkeye05, on 12/15/2007, -0/+2thats fine in my book, its too bright out there they need some flourescents
- Syric, on 12/16/2007, -1/+2Who's being obsessed? The fact that someone uses a very useful networking tool doesn't mean they're obsessed. My parents got facebooks. Old people have friends too.
- juliolarri, on 12/15/2007, -0/+5in 30 years we wont be able to get outside. *sigh*...
- mydigga, on 12/15/2007, -1/+4Maybe we will develop wrinklyfacebook.com?

OLD.- Me1000, on 12/15/2007, -1/+8IDK about you, but a lot of my friends (and myself) still use "is" in our status!
- Elixir25, on 12/16/2007, -2/+1That means you and your friends still write in the passive voice, which many consider a bad habit. Using the active voice when writing improves style and effectiveness.
- Me1000, on 12/15/2007, -1/+8IDK about you, but a lot of my friends (and myself) still use "is" in our status!

- onestrawplz, on 12/16/2007, -1/+1my parents were in their early twenties when i was born (i'll be 19 in february, my mom's 42 and my dad's 43) so assuming i have kids when i'm like, 30, they'll by about 50-52 by the time they're grandparents.

- chatzimcfee, on 12/16/2007, -0/+3"so i don't know how you get grandparents are age 50-60"
You're an idiot. He is saying that there AREN'T grandparents at age 50-60. In the pic, people are all grandparents, 30 years into the future. Considering the average Facebooker is 20-30, in 30 years they WON'T be grandparents like in this image.- silverwolfe, on 12/16/2007, -0/+1My grandma is 63, my mom is 42, and I'm 19.

- riggs32, on 12/15/2007, -1/+4i was thinking the exact same thing. facebook is used mostly in college, 30 years from now the average user would be around 50 not 70 lol
- skidooer, on 12/15/2007, -4/+2I don't know... A fair number of my friend's (who are mainly in their mid-twenties) parents are Facebook members. So they will really be in their 80s in 30 years.

- freakk123, on 12/15/2007, -0/+31If I still have a facebook and it looks like that when I'm 49 (30 years from now) I'll be very unhappy.
- bloodjunkiee, on 12/15/2007, -6/+0Of course it will...cus it sucks to start with
- KniteWulf, on 12/15/2007, -2/+4You probably like Myspace with all of its terrible design schemes, and all the sparkles and 16-bit dolls on all of your 12-year old friends' pages, am I right? Because we all know the clean, uncluttered look of Facebook is unattractive.
- Karmavs, on 12/15/2007, -0/+6While it's nowhere near the monstrosity that is myspace - Facebook could hardly be called 'clean & uncluttered'.
- bloodjunkiee, on 12/15/2007, -0/+0haha yeah i suppose they all have their weaknesses and such
- topace3000, on 12/15/2007, -0/+8I remember when it used to be, before all the idiotic "apps" started popping up.
- bloodjunkiee, on 12/15/2007, -0/+0Ahhh dont mention those stupid assed "Apps" its doubles load times!
- bloodjunkiee, on 12/15/2007, -0/+1Um...no i just think we have too many social networks these days jumping on, its not a bad thing but its getting boring

- kutateli, on 12/15/2007, -0/+9Wow, I didn't even notice the ad. I guess my mind just naturally blocks them out.
- Hello1024, on 12/15/2007, -1/+5getting pensioners on the net is a fairly huge potential market - I wouldn't be surprised to see something like pensionbook in a few years, to be purchased complete with a super-easy use set-top computer with big buttons and large fonts.
After all, most old people must get a bit bored doing the crossword and knitting all day every day...- Kimberlyyan, on 12/15/2007, -0/+2My Grandma is 72 and she loves her computer and the wii.
- iborobotosis23, on 12/15/2007, -4/+2This looks a bit more like if octogenarians had facebook accounts now with some elderly focused apps. Not to say it wasn't enjoyable. I guess what I'm trying to say is, "Title inaccurate. buried." Minus the buried part.

- OutAndAbout, on 12/15/2007, -2/+63Well don't get me started. I remember when Facebook was a little tiny startup and we had to walk 10 miles uphill through the driving snow to get on the interweb....

- Bamborzled, on 12/15/2007, -0/+4Really? I thought you could measure the average Digger's age by reading one article in the politics section.
- nigel, on 12/15/2007, -5/+1Wow, that sucked.
- ccdub, on 12/15/2007, -6/+1it's kinda morbid to make something like this and have "death" as such a dominant theme. it turns me off.

- cran, on 12/15/2007, -0/+32Are you kids planning on changing your names to "Vera", "Gerald", "Edna" and so on? Or does that just happen one day when you hit 50?
- ChuqAU, on 12/16/2007, -0/+1I was wondering if anyone else would notice that. I don't see many Victors, Constances, Edgars or Faiths in their 20s at the moment. It's going to be odd in 50 years time (yes, that's 50, whoever did this pic, not 30!) when there are old ladies called Melanie and Aimee and Holly and Britney :P

- haasim, on 12/15/2007, -6/+17I just looked at the pic and I didn't find it particularly funny. Especially since most Facebook users are teenagers, so I don't see how they will age 60 years within three decades. Also, those stupid tombstone icons and frequent references to funerals were distasteful. I don't understand why it's so fashionable to make fun of the elderly.
Seriously, I'm so sick of it. Just a while ago there was some video of an old man walking slowly down on a sidewalk. Naturally, the YouTube comments consisted of taunts and heckles directed at the old man. Really, what the ***** is that? Is it so hard to have some god damn respect towards seniors? We're all going to get old and die (or we might not make it to old age and die anyway). And as I approach the end, the last thing I would want to see is some dumb ass kid's idea of a joke--mocking my frailty and mortality.
And don't tell me that old people can't be offended because they don't use the Internet--that's only a ***** mentality that allows for jokes like this to be made in the first place.- uberdilly, on 12/15/2007, -7/+3wow get a hobby
