Kids learn from their parents whether to treat food as sustenance, or as entertainment (i.e., eating because they're bored). I'm not sure I buy into that whole inherited traits thing, as I think the statistics about fat kids and fat genes are spurious. I think it's more likely inheriting bad habits. Portion control and eating only until you're satiated are the first part of the solution, the second is regular exercise. Too bad for this kid he likely doesn't have any of that.

      At a recent event, I met a family with a 20-month old who was 50 lbs. FIFTY! While he certainly was jolly, he was obviously WELL over his ideal weight. I pray he doesn't get diabetes at an early age. *sigh*

I would be more willing to bet that the problem here isn't even at the dinner table (for the most part), but at places like the picture, where excessive snacking is encouraged.

        That being said... The photographer should have hosed down the pavement. Not only would it have cooled the asphalt for this poor kid but it usually makes for a better picture. It would have made the asphalt darker and added more contrast between the ground and the truck.

After a few years of college milk and other dairy products became obsolete in my diet. I came back to my hometown where I started taking in dairy products again, and found out that I had developed lactose intolerance. A few months of lactose pills and dairy, I was ok again. The people I feel worse for are those that are actually allergic to dairy.

    I had an account for about a year, and over the past couple of days started making comments with it. Now I find that account has been disabled. And I hadn't made stupid comments like a lot of people. Maybe one stupid comment. And I'm sure some will find THIS comment stupid.

    Anyway, my old username was "dibbkd", anyone know why it was disabled, and I sent support an email already, no reply yet.

        I only had one ID. Now, I did go to another computer and try to login to my one account, it had a different IP (different physical location and all).

        Do you get banned for that? I'd think most people would login from home, work, etc..

        I figured my comment above would get hated on, but is there a freaking digg forum to chat with other diggers about stuff like this?

      I use Digg from multiple PCs, that definitely isn't it. I guess just press them for an answer. I originally used my full name as my alias and had to write them multiple times to have it changed...
