5min.com — Based on the Pavlov ’s Dog Theory, Jim offers Dwight a seemingly innocent altoid every time his computer reboots and makes the patented bell sound. Jim continues this for weeks and waits for the perfect time to strike.Pavlov’s Dog Theory cant be put

- RpgActioN, on 12/07/2007, -2/+2Which is almost as funny as your lack of understanding that the period goes inside the quotation mark, unless you're British, in which case you can get the ***** out.
- jj101, on 12/07/2007, -1/+1@RpgActioN - He can get the ***** out of what? Is Digg now US only? But yet its on the World Wide Web...

FIX'D - Netrilix, on 12/07/2007, -0/+1Which ALMOST works for past episodes. And regarding torrents, I've had enough DMCA notices for one ISP account because of torrents.

- Dax420, on 12/07/2007, -0/+2They are not striking for more wages, they are striking for residuals from the ad revenue from people like yourself watching clips that they wrote.

- sumasshu, on 12/07/2007, -7/+2What does everyone digging uberlit down know about the Office that I don't know. Did something happen to the Office?
- witcompe, on 12/07/2007, -0/+7The Office has been in rerun since the writer's strike. No new episodes = No Office in my book since I have seen them all. I also hope the rumors that The Office is not coming back are false.
- sumasshu, on 12/07/2007, -1/+8Wow. Rumors of the Office not coming back? That would be messed up. The Office is by far the funniest show on television right now.
- Crispin, on 12/07/2007, -1/+4It's a repeat and there won't be any new episodes until the writers' strike is over.

- Netrilix, on 12/07/2007, -13/+6I'm somewhat disappointed. I clicked on this thinking I'd be able to make some witty reference to the Office, but then the description mentioned Jim and Dwight.
- mrjit, on 12/07/2007, -26/+1I feel like this could have been really funny, had it been conducted on another show that was actually funny.
- mrjit, on 12/07/2007, -6/+2Bury me baby.

- SRSco, on 12/07/2007, -1/+5Proof that Diggers are idiots. BBC Office is tens time funnier than American Office. But all you retards love unfunny *****. Automatically digging every ***** who types "giggity" (Family Guy isn't funny either.
- stammered, on 12/07/2007, -0/+2yes, but the original doesn't come on a major network here. at least not on my basic cable. i agree with you though. however, it would stand, that those "got talent" shows are knock offs of bad american ones. at least we copy something good ;)
- Scheissen, on 12/07/2007, -4/+12Nah, sorry but I prefer comedy.
- headlessclown, on 12/07/2007, -5/+5i understand why the writers are on strike, but i miss this show...
- bingobongony, on 12/07/2007, -3/+51There is something inherently wrong with 5min.com putting their logo in front of copyrighted material for NBC, and then submitting it to Digg for the ad sense money.
- funkytaco, on 12/07/2007, -0/+13I agree. 5min.com is getting paid more than the WGA for online content! :x
- TridenTBoy, on 12/07/2007, -0/+2Since it is copyrighted, couldn't they just sue 5min for bajillions and get even more money?
- Laxaloot, on 12/07/2007, -0/+2i totally agree... however... maybe if NBC was smart and had their content available on a place like 5min, they would be getting that ad revenue
- over90000, on 12/07/2007, -18/+4Americans like to milk everything dry instead of cutting it at a high point. How many seasons does the American Office have again?
- speedk0re, on 12/07/2007, -1/+4over 90000 of them
- revenge7, on 12/07/2007, -0/+2Fail.
"Its over 9000!"- MrMacMan, on 12/07/2007, -0/+1which... wouldn't work in response to the question.
- revenge7, on 12/07/2007, -0/+2Fail.
- DeathRay2K, on 12/07/2007, -4/+2I dugg you up, because it's true. The US version is fine, but it doesn't hold a candle to the original, and I think it's at least partly because the original was so full!
- akkibaba, on 12/07/2007, -1/+3Not enough.
- speedk0re, on 12/07/2007, -1/+4over 90000 of them
- Easternlight, on 12/07/2007, -25/+3Bah ha ha Americans just don't understand true intellectual humour, you clap when someone farts on tv, you only think something is funny if you're told it's funny. You vote how you're told, you go to war when you're told, who else but America is at war with the rest of the world and themselves with the frequent mass shootings. Are you all mad?, sorry for your mass killings in your homeland but theres obviously something wrong in your culture if it keeps happening so frequently. USA if you don't react you're the most slaved of us all.
- mrjit, on 12/07/2007, -1/+9The ignorance quota has been surpassed this month, sir.
- Easternlight, on 12/07/2007, -7/+0So why are you adding to it ?.
- blahtastic, on 12/07/2007, -0/+2I know you are but what am I?
- Urusai, on 12/07/2007, -2/+2Sounds pretty much like Americans to me. I'm in Texas.
- Easternlight, on 12/07/2007, -7/+0So why are you adding to it ?.
- mongoh8fire, on 12/07/2007, -1/+15Perhaps...but we have better teeth
- Easternlight, on 12/07/2007, -2/+3Now that IS funny... ;-)
- ClaudiuUSA, on 12/07/2007, -0/+1It looks like we use proper capitalization, though.
- revenge7, on 12/07/2007, -0/+1I like Arrested Development AND the American Office.

- BevansDesign, on 12/07/2007, -2/+3Do what I did: click Bury, and go on with your life.
- RpgActioN, on 12/07/2007, -0/+1Apparently that isn't what you did, or you would have "gone on with your life" and not come to comment here.

- sdm011, on 12/07/2007, -1/+4Hmm I really need to do something like this to my room mate before the semester is over. Anyone have any ideas?
- ApolloXLII, on 12/07/2007, -1/+5everytime he goes to poop, you say "poop" somewhat loudly. do this for as long as possible and make sure you're around him everytime he has to poop go poop. then after a month or so, you can say poop whenever and he'll have to go poop.
/poop- Lewie, on 12/07/2007, -1/+2I love poop.

- ChaosProfessor, on 12/07/2007, -0/+4didn't need to watch it just knew it was the office!!! i love it i am so looking forward to the new year and only because of my daily office calander
- antdude, on 12/07/2007, -0/+1Not until WGA strike ends.
- ChaosProfessor, on 12/07/2007, -1/+1you mean the calander i own in my closet dissapers untill the strike ends
- antdude, on 12/07/2007, -0/+1Not until WGA strike ends.
- Easternlight, on 12/07/2007, -13/+0Do you notice how anyone whoever says ANYTHING negative about AMERICA gets DUGG, freedom of speech? - you only prove there isn't by killing off debate. As it stands thats what we expect from you lot, prove us wrong puhleese.
- ClaudiuUSA, on 12/07/2007, -0/+2I would, but I'm too busy listenin' to the country music and getting in school shootings.
- nreynolds, on 12/07/2007, -0/+2freedom of expression means I'm free to say you're an idiot also. You can just say "only I should be able to have free speech, not anyone that disagrees with me"
- Easternlight, on 12/07/2007, -2/+0Very true - but you can also say i'm an idiot loudly and not digg anyone an individual down - just reply OMG He's an idiot and then state your case, don't censor freedom of speech/writing in this case. Digging down IS censorship.
- marky125, on 12/07/2007, -0/+2Wow...
1: This is Digg. It's "user powered".
2: Nobody's forcing you to be here - you're free to never comment again and"not be censored" for the rest of your life
3: If burying = censorship = wrong, then why do you do it? Or does this rule only apply to you? (Quote: "Buried (no pun intended) for ignorance and insensitivity..." from "16 Headstones That Make You Go Hummmm...")
4: ...Actually, ***** it. I've already wasted 5 minutes of my time now...
This is why people should have to pass an IQ test before being allowed on the internet
- marky125, on 12/07/2007, -0/+2Wow...
- Easternlight, on 12/07/2007, -2/+0Very true - but you can also say i'm an idiot loudly and not digg anyone an individual down - just reply OMG He's an idiot and then state your case, don't censor freedom of speech/writing in this case. Digging down IS censorship.
- MrMacMan, on 12/07/2007, -0/+1yeah your comment that started with 'Bah ha ha Americans just don't understand true intellectual humour'...
Was pure trolling. You deserve to get dugg down since you were asking for it, - ApolloXLII, on 12/07/2007, -0/+1dude where did this come from? did you get lost and stumble your wait out of a political thread and end up here? knock before you barge in yelling about god knows what! you'll look less like a tool.
- stammered, on 12/07/2007, -0/+1first of all, you're misconstruing free speech with majority ruling. second, if you're looking for serious debate i'd suggest offering a serious topic, not "omg we're better than you."
but, as a friend of mine said last night, "we've got about 1/3 intelligent people in this country and the rest of them are idiots, making us a mass majority of idiots."
that's how america works and that's how digg works. this is free speech at it's worst/best. be informative instead of judgmental is my suggestion.
- Easternlight, on 12/07/2007, -3/+1In these forums - ofcourse the experiment rings true - every diss of USA is like Pavlovs bell, all the mutts come barking for their master.
- baldgye, on 12/07/2007, -1/+0i was just about to say, the people on here are insane...u say anything negative about anything remotely American. The Office very much not American, even the 'American' version, u say anything against it and u get dugg??
u kids need to get a grip- Easternlight, on 12/07/2007, -0/+1Umm your English is atrocious - there's is no coherent course of logic in your ramblings, my goodness you are calling people here kids - so I'll assume you're claiming to be an adult which makes your English use all the more appalling. Pls don't type anymore..
- baldgye, on 12/07/2007, -0/+0a dyslexic can't help if his ramblings don't make sence

- HerbSolo, on 12/07/2007, -0/+2Umm - Just plain no.
I'm European, and I think the digg people are a great example of Americans' ability for self-criticism.
But if you're just go on an anti-American rant, with the typical generalising ***** phrases like "Americans have no culture", "Americans are unable to understand subtle humor", you shouldn't be surprised if you're buried for your racism.- starlord1, on 12/07/2007, -0/+1Just to check... it's not racism.
- baldgye, on 12/07/2007, -1/+0i was just about to say, the people on here are insane...u say anything negative about anything remotely American. The Office very much not American, even the 'American' version, u say anything against it and u get dugg??
- ajimmykid, on 12/07/2007, -4/+3first of all, i love the office. and this is a great sketch
but it's not called "Pavlov's Dog Theory". Pavlov's experiments on conditioned learning showed that a stimulus (like the windows startup chime and Jim's offer of a mint) can be paired with an unconditioned stimulus (Jim providing the altoid) which produces the unconditioned response (which would be extending the arm for the expected mint).- fivestarsoul, on 12/07/2007, -1/+4me thinks you were just looking for an excuse to show off ur psych skillz.
- ApolloXLII, on 12/07/2007, -0/+3somehow you just proved yourself wrong by proving this theory right in the context of the show.
- fivestarsoul, on 12/07/2007, -0/+8sorry for the double-post, but you were also a little off. :P the offering of a mint from jim to dwight is an unconditioned stimulus. dwight loves altoids and will always accept one when jim offers--an unconditioned response. when jim pairs the offering with the windows chime, the windows chime is a conditioned stimulus. when they are in unison for so long, dwight expects the two events (the offering of a mint and the chime) to occur (near) simultaneously, so when dwight hears the bell and there is no offering of a mint, his behavior is the conditioned response.
