This is What I Call .. RUSH HOUR [ Pic ]
bp2.blogger.com — Enjoy the pic ...and pray to never be in a situation like that.
- 2741 diggs
- digg it
- ostracize, on 05/13/2008, -9/+199This was a plot by the advertiser in the middle of the roundabout to increase exposure.
- PhillyVC, on 05/13/2008, -9/+5IT WAS MEEEEEEEEEEE
- anoriega, on 05/14/2008, -0/+1Hahaha I just watched that movie last week!
- sjl127, on 05/13/2008, -17/+7How many freaking times does this pic have to be passed around the net? Some of you diggers are a little behind.
- Rikkochet, on 05/13/2008, -3/+12Can't seem to find my ASCII Waaaaambulance anywhere...
- infinityofnever, on 05/13/2008, -1/+3it served its purpose if people who haven't seen it saw it. so quit being lame.
- elliott9, on 05/13/2008, -2/+1Just because you have seen it before does not automatically make it not funny
- thatspsychotic, on 05/13/2008, -2/+19I think the exposure would be much higher if traffic were actually moving.
- CiXeL, on 05/13/2008, -7/+2thats not congested. theres still room between the cars. try coming out of a concert in los angeles and its way worse than this.
- ostracize, on 05/13/2008, -0/+9ah, but if traffic were moving, you'd be watching the road and not looking at the ad.
- homerang, on 05/13/2008, -1/+5I don't know about that. Those are pretty big breasts.
- ChromaVita, on 05/13/2008, -0/+24I think the exposure would be much higher if the aperture was wider, and the shutter was left open for longer.
- Enthwar, on 05/13/2008, -2/+2I detect much win in this comment.
- thatspsychotic, on 05/14/2008, -1/+1+1
- Dylson, on 05/13/2008, -1/+4Not really ROUND. Its more of a square-ish about.
- synthoid, on 05/14/2008, -0/+1I guess you could say this is what traffic looks like on steroids!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- PhillyVC, on 05/13/2008, -9/+5IT WAS MEEEEEEEEEEE
- Conway, on 05/13/2008, -30/+9This should be the picture in wikipedia for deadlock.
- DiggaDave, on 05/13/2008, -1/+47I think you mean Gridlock.
- Lixnig, on 05/13/2008, -0/+6No, he means deadlock. It is a situation in computer science where multiple processes are all waiting for each other to finish. Since everyone is waiting on everyone else, nothing ever finishes. Computer science textbooks often use traffic as an example.
- DiggaDave, on 05/13/2008, -1/+47I think you mean Gridlock.
- jjustice, on 05/13/2008, -6/+295Who's the dude in the red circle?
- SuperWinner, on 05/13/2008, -17/+40jeebus
- wiredclimber, on 05/13/2008, -0/+129Waldo
- MaxMWood, on 05/13/2008, -3/+13Damnit. You beat me to it.
- NeoCortex, on 05/13/2008, -1/+25Carmen Sandiego
- ArielMT, on 05/13/2008, -2/+3I thought she was stealing Mount Rushmore at the time this picture was taken.
- ricerfuel, on 05/13/2008, -2/+17You mean Wally.
- kinglenster, on 05/13/2008, -1/+1Bin Laden
- greenwald, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1He is the dumb ass who is making the mess by standing in the road.
- wiredclimber, on 05/13/2008, -0/+129Waldo
- DeskFlyer, on 05/13/2008, -6/+57Al Gore.
- jawagas, on 05/13/2008, -2/+2Abe Lincoln
- chewties, on 05/13/2008, -3/+6"i'm super cereal guys, i can't get through"
- FarisMadi, on 05/13/2008, -1/+0Actually he's searching for manbearpig between the cars
So, definitely he is Al Gore
- FarisMadi, on 05/13/2008, -1/+0Actually he's searching for manbearpig between the cars
- tutfire, on 05/13/2008, -2/+12Looks to me like either he's the one holding up all of the traffic or he's taking a baseball bat to that poor car.
- borez, on 05/13/2008, -0/+61I think he's supposed to be a traffic cop, but it's debatable.
- antiorblkflag9, on 05/13/2008, -0/+7There are basically two schools of thought
- SuperWinner, on 05/13/2008, -4/+2There are Always two schools of thought...
- shloopa, on 05/13/2008, -0/+3Unless three...but then it gets complicated
- NihilFist, on 05/13/2008, -0/+7He is a traffic cop. The picture is from an intersection in Bucharest, Romania, but I can't make out which one it is.
Traffic jams like these occur in pretty much every intersection, every morning and evening, when people go to, and come back from, work.- Scogras, on 05/13/2008, -4/+2When they go where?????!!!!
- antiorblkflag9, on 05/13/2008, -0/+7There are basically two schools of thought
- shyner, on 05/13/2008, -17/+401Edit: nevermind. Digg me down.
(Dear Kevin, please make it possible to delete comments within the edit time limit)- wontstoptalking, on 05/13/2008, -70/+12The day someone asks to be dugg down and is instead dugg up is the day I eat an apple.
- nerdherder, on 05/13/2008, -5/+46If I followed that philosophy I would be on an all apple diet. Its rare to see somebody actually get dugg down when they ask to be.
- ryryindo, on 05/13/2008, -128/+9rare?
digg me down!- ArielMT, on 05/13/2008, -1/+8You're doing it wrong, unless you meant the words you wrote.
- laserpig, on 05/13/2008, -0/+7I would argue he did it exactly right.
- thepretext, on 05/13/2008, -8/+26Start eatin'.
- ArielMT, on 05/13/2008, -3/+4Hey, there's an apple over here, looks like a golden delicious no less. Here, you can hav-- Hmm? Um, anyone know who this "Kallisti" person is? That's what's written on it, so it must be hers.
- toomanymind, on 05/13/2008, -2/+0honeycrisps are the best apples
- davidrools, on 05/13/2008, -2/+17I'm surprised that so many people are both aware of the upcoming digg update and able to detect understated sarcasm.
- hoowahman, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1to go get breakfast and dinner.
- wontstoptalking, on 05/13/2008, -70/+12The day someone asks to be dugg down and is instead dugg up is the day I eat an apple.
- KilluhV, on 05/13/2008, -32/+12Waldo
- speedygonzalez, on 05/13/2008, -10/+114Waldo
- reubencm, on 05/13/2008, -2/+16Wally for those of us who live down under (and possibly other areas)
- gr3yn3t, on 05/13/2008, -17/+2bury me.
- gr3yn3t, on 05/13/2008, -17/+2bury me.
- amanilaenvelope, on 05/13/2008, -3/+32Hows this guy comment getting dugg up while another guy above him said the same exact same thing but getting buried.
- wickensworth, on 05/13/2008, -2/+31Speedygonzalez is too fast to have been second
- MacEnvy, on 05/13/2008, -1/+21Thus is the will of Digg. Just roll with it.
- Selenica, on 05/13/2008, -0/+13Digg is bi-polar.
- gr3yn3t, on 05/13/2008, -1/+12I love it. KilluhV submits the same comment before you, yet he gets buried and you dugg.
Strange world we live in...- Rally603, on 05/13/2008, -5/+4We're all about the irony here.
- nerdherder, on 05/13/2008, -1/+7Learn what irony is.
- dunk71, on 05/13/2008, -0/+3Like goldy and silvery, except mad of iron?
- Rally603, on 05/13/2008, -5/+4We're all about the irony here.
- Relikh, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1Well, I'd hate to break the trend, speedy gets another digg from me.
- reubencm, on 05/13/2008, -2/+16Wally for those of us who live down under (and possibly other areas)
- centran, on 05/13/2008, -5/+6I don't know who the dude is but right where he is is where the cars traveling on the bottom from left to right need to start turning right onto that street. It is the only way to break it up.
They might be able to break it up if the people in the top right keep going straight but the sign is blocking so I can't tell if they can do that.
The only way to fix this deadlock traffic jam is for some people to turn and go a different direction they don't want to go.- Rikkochet, on 05/13/2008, -1/+16Thanks professor. I've forwarded your comments along to everyone pictures in the photograph and things should be normalized within a few hours.

- ZeroIce, on 05/13/2008, -5/+14No, it's Waldo. Who the ***** is wally?
- openyoureyes17, on 05/13/2008, -12/+9Am I the only one who doesn't SEE a red circle?

- aaaleman, on 05/13/2008, -0/+7... Batman!
- DeskFlyer, on 05/13/2008, -1/+120What's up with the SUV with the polka-dot paint job?
- aliengoods, on 05/13/2008, -1/+20That looks more like a minivan. I'm guessing it's owned by a business and the paint job is to draw attention to it (perhaps a business marketing their ugly ass auto painting services).
- romistrub, on 05/13/2008, -6/+6I spy with my little eye: a dude having car troubles...
- reubencm, on 05/13/2008, -1/+1i think its an innocent drinks delivery vehicle. they give them crazy paint jobs which look like that.
- AquaJiva, on 05/13/2008, -1/+2Too bad it's not stripes. We would have found Waldo.
- bonedead, on 05/13/2008, -1/+1Eat More Chikin
- whitezombie420, on 05/13/2008, -24/+4round abouts are evil, if they had them here i would move just to get away from them.
- stupidbrowner, on 05/13/2008, -3/+15Roundabouts are awesome! I wish we had more of them!!
- aliengoods, on 05/13/2008, -4/+21Those who cannot master the roundabout don't deserve to drive.
- Aensland, on 05/13/2008, -2/+5Totally. I meet loads of stupid ***** everyday who don't get it that you should give way to the people already IN the roundabout, and instead they rush in expecting the roundabout people to stop for them. Let alone the people who sit in the wrong lanes or don't use their signal indicator to let you know they're taking an exit.
- minnymoo, on 05/13/2008, -2/+8i spy with my little eye the number 3.
- rollerboy, on 05/13/2008, -0/+3on the cab?

- Dochtuir, on 05/13/2008, -0/+12On roundabouts, traffic already on it.
- thomashauk, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1I think this one has right f way to the people entering, hence the gridlock
- rdoger6424, on 05/13/2008, -1/+7yes.
- msk275, on 05/13/2008, -7/+3That's what she said. (With two guys at the same time)
And don't judge me cause I'm drunk as a skunk you *****! Thanks!!!! x_x- Birdoftruth, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1that didn't work at all.
- Dochtuir, on 05/13/2008, -0/+12On roundabouts, traffic already on it.
- KingWilson, on 05/13/2008, -10/+14Wheres Waldo?
- eyepatch100, on 05/13/2008, -1/+13In the red circle.
- MaxMWood, on 05/13/2008, -0/+6Are those Trams that are also in the Rush Hour? I thought the point of Trams was to avoid all that!
- Echosphere, on 05/13/2008, -2/+4Trams are a poor persons city's form of mass transit. Mostly causes traffic jams and employs all those folks who continually have to clean the "gutter lines" in Eastern Europe.
Look at Berlin pre-cold war. Only East Berlin had trams, West Berlin had the U-Bahn and S-Bahn.
Guess who won? (No, I'm not serious, just a bit of dumb humour...)- DuffyDirect, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1that's a pretty gross generalization. streetcars were wildly popular and in some cities like schenectady were entirely powered by hydroelectric energy, and I certainly wouldn't call Philadelphia, St. Louis, or Portland 'Poor man's cities' -- they're world class
- Echosphere, on 05/13/2008, -2/+4Trams are a poor persons city's form of mass transit. Mostly causes traffic jams and employs all those folks who continually have to clean the "gutter lines" in Eastern Europe.
- MaxMWood, on 05/13/2008, -9/+393I would have to say that this is rush hour:
http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/2007/08/09/art ...- Simonft, on 05/13/2008, -1/+22They are in the Toyota to the left of the Grey van.
- Hrodrik, on 05/13/2008, -6/+4Grey van? It's a black and white picture. All of them are a freaking shade of Gray.
- marko_tomas13, on 05/13/2008, -0/+12Woosh!
- Hrodrik, on 05/13/2008, -2/+3I actually saw what he did there. But it was too late to edit... I'm too slow for Digg.
- marko_tomas13, on 05/13/2008, -1/+3Chalk that one up to the faulty comment system
- marko_tomas13, on 05/13/2008, -0/+12Woosh!
- Hrodrik, on 05/13/2008, -6/+4Grey van? It's a black and white picture. All of them are a freaking shade of Gray.
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 05/13/2008, -2/+34Suckered me in with the nytimes.com url. Very nice.
- andrewglover87, on 05/13/2008, -9/+3Debatable which one is worse...

- Starznhl, on 05/13/2008, -10/+2Just when I thought another Rick Roll was around the corner .. you changed the plan of attack and displayed a keen sense of humor.
Dugg for making me laugh out loud (lolzz)- NYankee2003, on 05/13/2008, -0/+14Buried for "lolzz". don't do that again.

- Simonft, on 05/13/2008, -1/+22They are in the Toyota to the left of the Grey van.
- MaxMWood, on 05/13/2008, -0/+12Look to the left, there's a white van half on and half off the Pavement? (I believe you may call that a "Sidewalk".)
- Simonft, on 05/13/2008, -0/+5Look at the top right. Any idea how the cars parked at the TOP of the steps?
- LonesomeFighter, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1i think they are on a hill and drove to the top
- DeathRay2K, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1People park on sidewalks all over the place outside of North America. In many places, there are even designated parking spots on or partway on sidewalks!
- bsonline, on 05/13/2008, -1/+1Sure, I would call it a sidewalk. I doubt I would capitalize it, though.
- Simonft, on 05/13/2008, -0/+5Look at the top right. Any idea how the cars parked at the TOP of the steps?

- BoydRE, on 05/13/2008, -2/+6SIMPSONS DID IT
- Twenty, on 05/13/2008, -1/+5There's actually a very very effective one up in Albany. It's a 5-way intersection and as we passed through it, I thought of how horrible it would have been with a traffic light.
http://www.wikihow.com/Drive-in-a-Rotary- prophetpimp, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2There is a seven way one close to my house. never got why you yanks find it so difficult to handle.

Big Ben--Parliament - sgxyay, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1The one? There are a bunch.
- elliott9, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1They are really efficient in low to mid traffic levels. If peak traffic times you really just need a well timed stop light

- amidtheblue, on 05/13/2008, -8/+2I hate traffic circles.
- andrewglover87, on 05/13/2008, -1/+18I find it ironic how the tram, meant to reduce traffic, is the one blocking the entire roundabout.
- CamperBob, on 05/13/2008, -2/+9That's pretty much how it always works when you design a city around automobile traffic and change your mind 75 years later.
- ChildeRoland420, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2Actually, given that it's a European city, the streets were proabable designed around horse and foot traffic and then changed hundreds of years later.
- JAK2112, on 05/13/2008, -0/+5not that the traffic on the other side of the tram is moving either
- stefang7, on 05/13/2008, -0/+10Actually the tram has special priority (the picture is from Bucharest, Romania) and the cars should not be on the tram tracks inside the intersection (supposedly police should take away your license on the spot for that). The problem in Bucharest is that the number of cars has gone up in the past 10 years from ~200000 to over 600000, and the roads were never designed to sustain that much traffic, so jams like these are pretty much an everyday occurrence. Public transportation is good (subway, bus, trolleys, trams, cabs; still with everything above ground just as slow as taking your own car), but people tend to prefer their own cars regardless of how long it takes to get somewhere, and that because it's a status symbol. If you just got a car you have to show it off. The epitome of that, I think, is a local millionaire who drives his Bentley 30 yards from his house to the cafe across the street.
PS. The guy in the red circle is a cop.

I live here, believe me, I know :)- georgebnet, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1Confirmed. This is definitely Bucharest, Romania. Text on the tram is Romanian, busses are typical Bucharest Public Transport (RATB), the cop's uniform is Romanian. You can spot a few old Romanian cars parked on the sidewalk (Dacia 1300, one is on the far left); and plenty of the relatively new Dacia Nova on the road.
It has been mentioned a few times here, in Bucharest traffic is like this in most of the city every day. It took me 4 hours to get from the airport (north of Bucharest) to downtown one day, a 10-mile drive. You do the math. I think it might have been faster to walk, if it was not for all the luggage I had with me.

Note to self: do not use public transit in Japan.- Aensland, on 05/13/2008, -0/+3You probably won't be getting anywhere if you don't use public transit in Japan. Unless you're a tourist on a package tour (the tour bus).

"Get yo big Happy Meal Ass over in the corner! " - imacmike, on 05/13/2008, -0/+20I have a question for those of you in the UK.
How do you get caught in the center of a roundabout?
Look at all the cars on the inside lane. They are never going to escape. What possessed them to move into that lane initially?- Alex00r, on 05/13/2008, -0/+11if you want to go the whole way around the roundabout you join the inside lane and move out a lane each exit you pass, if your only taking the 1st or 2nd exit you take the right hand or mid lane.
- Twenty, on 05/13/2008, -0/+8http://www.wikihow.com/Drive-in-a-Rotary
Alternately, look at the picture. As you go around, cars on the outer lanes will exit and you can get out on the next exit as there will be no car there. Bottom left corner is an example. - imacmike, on 05/13/2008, -0/+4Ah, I see - Thank You guys! +up diggs to both of you!
- LeRenard, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1Why do they need to be in the UK? New England is covered in rotaries right here in the US. By the way, there is nothing more annoying than being in a rotary/roundabout with someone who's never been in one before, or who always stays in the outer lanes. A rotary was part of my driving test in New Hampshire.
