- Session88, on 10/07/2008, -4/+33blasphemy from an idiot who doesn't get it..
- seraph582, on 10/07/2008, -66/+5Well, I got it, and I thought it was stupid too. C&H is a great comic, but this one is pretty stupid.
- hydroplane, on 10/07/2008, -78/+5Calvin is only funny when he's pissing on NASCAR logos.
- Buddhaismybuddy, on 10/07/2008, -1/+49I think those stickers are ***** retarded.
- poploserdigg, on 10/07/2008, -4/+12dugg up for sarcasm
- DigitalHippie73, on 10/07/2008, -49/+3I dugg you up because you were honest. I thought the comis was a bit predictable and pandering and not really his best work. But Its anti-war so in a way its also anti-Bush, plus its Calvin and Hobb, so all the digg kids will eat it up like it's XKCD soup.
- Zuwxiv, on 10/07/2008, -2/+23It says something to instantly equate "anti-war" with "anti-Bush."
- Hockey13, on 10/07/2008, -0/+30How is it anti-Bush? It was made in the 80s (probably).
I thought the comic was an especially clever way to criticize the obvious absurdity of war. - Avngr75, on 10/07/2008, -0/+35Bill Waterson stopped making C & H in 1995. 5 years before Bush was elected. Anti-Bush? Really?
- me1.0, on 10/07/2008, -19/+2Yeah, because another Bush didn't lead a war prior to 1995. Not that this it what digitalhippy meant, but this could very much be anti-Bush. You folks really should pay attention to more that what happened in the last 10 minutes.
- Hockey13, on 10/07/2008, -3/+9@me1.0
If it isn't what digitalhippy meant, why should we assume he was referring to GHWB? Considering everyone who responded to him essentially called him out for not thinking about life before 1995, it's kind of odd of you to assume none of us know of the Persian Gulf War. - me1.0, on 10/07/2008, -9/+2People asked how it could be anti-bush if it were pre 1995. I offered an explanation. I didn't expect a need to explain this.
- riotact2552, on 10/07/2008, -3/+1Uh, I'm not saying this is about anti-Bush, but i do believe his daddy was in office when Calvin and Hobbes where being created.
- caramba420, on 10/07/2008, -1/+32I use my transmogrifier to turn your useless banter into a witty comment
- twoyups, on 10/07/2008, -9/+4Obviously a troll, but it's still interesting to see how many buries this goon gets.

- TehLawlz, on 10/07/2008, -3/+37I have been reading C & H sense i was 6 years old. I always loved the unique comedy of Bill Watterson and whenever I did not understand a comic, I would go over to my parents and they would explain to me what the comic was making a reference to, ultimately teaching me in the end. From reading C & H, I have increased my vocabulary and my overall intelligence. Every once in a while, I break out my old C & H books and read deep into the night. With this love for the comic, I must say dear sir
Buried. - Soraai, on 10/07/2008, -1/+6No.

- Hoofenhoffer, on 10/07/2008, -1/+7Silence, Calvin and Hobbes has never been, and will never be a "stupid comic".
Calvin and Hobbes is a way of life to some people.
How dare you insult their beliefs and values!
There are many things that Calvin and his buddy Hobbes can teach you...grasshoppa! - Samurai77, on 10/07/2008, -3/+7Please don't breed....for the love of God don't breed.

- Jumbo2608, on 10/08/2008, -5/+2I must agree with Medical Matt
Calvin & Hobbs have there moments, but seriously, todays example really isn't Digg frontpage material.. was everyone but the two of us really that entertained and/or enlightened?? - Nero9171, on 10/08/2008, -3/+3Do me a favor, and go drink bleach.
Thanks! :) - IanG73, on 10/08/2008, -3/+2***** you.
- thavi, on 10/08/2008, -7/+2Sorry medical matt, your fellow diggers are entrenched to their eyeballs in bull *****.
I think war sucks, and I think this comic sucked too.
Oh, and I'm a huge calvin and hobbes fan.
go ***** yourselves, the 650+ of you who downvoted him - faraggi, on 10/08/2008, -0/+4i think you did it on purpose just to get dugg down.
crazy kids... must be a new fad. - audomatix, on 10/08/2008, -0/+5Wow it takes a real idiot to get buried like that, congrats on your achievement.
- DarkProd, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1Kinda stupid posting this to Digg. It's just like saying "I love John McCain and Palin FTW".
- xChunk, on 10/07/2008, -132/+31Oh snap, a talking tiger!

- malechite, on 10/07/2008, -10/+500Calvin and Hobbes is always good
- Tyrghast, on 10/07/2008, -2/+31It was a great comic, and those little ***** stickers on the back of cars and trucks with Calvin pissing on something or other are a disservice to C & H.
- ClevelandBrown, on 10/07/2008, -20/+2I'm pretty sure Bill Waterson either made or approved them.
- Tyrghast, on 10/07/2008, -1/+20http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Waterson#Fight_a ...
amazing what you can find on the internet if you poke around for 5 minutes. - Quake120, on 10/08/2008, -0/+12@ ClevelandBrown
No. Bill Watterson has always refused to allow Calvin and Hobbes to be syndicated for fear of it ruining the essence and feeling of the strip. He doesn't want a cartoon made that will put a voice to Calvin or Hobbes and doesn't want them plastered all over things like stickers, mugs, and such. I am glad he has never and will never syndicate Calvin and Hobbes. I think it would just ruin the comic entirely.
Those "Calvin peeing" stickers are a disgrace to C&H and to Bill.
Like Tyrghast said: Search the internet for a few minutes before posting something you only THINK is true. - sneezy555, on 10/08/2008, -5/+1@quake120 I think he meant neither, it's an easy mistake to make.

- xptoast, on 10/07/2008, -10/+7no...no it was not
- AYork, on 10/07/2008, -3/+22No, it was chess. I can't believe I'm actually looking this up, but that line has run through my head for years....
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086567/quotes
Joshua: Shall we play a game?
David Lightman: Oh!
Jennifer: I think it missed him.
David Lightman: Yeah. Weird isn't it? Love to. How about Global Thermonuclear War.
Joshua: Wouldn't you prefer a nice game of chess?
David Lightman: Later. Right now lets play Global Thermonuclear War.
Joshua: Fine.
He pitted Joshua against himself in a game of tic-tac-toe to crash him. Heh...this movie came out when I was about 10 or so. I spent the rest of that summer saving up money to buy a Tandy CoCo and a modem, the purchase of which sparked a long Radio-Shack fueled decline.
In my teenage years, I saw it on late night TV with a few friends, and we started a lengthy conversation about the metaphors. I proposed that the world should be run by computers, because machines like Joshua knew better than to play games you can't win, like tic-tac-toe and nuclear war. Of course, I was deftly countered by a two-word response, "Dude. Skynet."
And yes, pot was involved. A lot of pot.
- ElementalSCP, on 10/07/2008, -0/+120"A strange game. The only winning move is not to play."
- SlowelyFadeAway, on 10/07/2008, -2/+9"Wargames" FTW!

- LRE13, on 10/07/2008, -0/+6-_- You indirectly preempted my comment. Like the comment equivalent of taking the center square. Till our paths cross again...
I'll be waiting for the day when someone diggs a pick of Goliath trying to get the cigarette..... - Animan351, on 10/07/2008, -4/+20bobboberton is right. It's chess and you've been given 10 noob points for screwing up a a quote from a great movie.
- Solkre, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2After WOPR/Joshua played a bunch of Tic-Tac-Toe games, then the simulated nuclear wars he offered game of chess, since you can't win either Tic-Tac-Toe or Nuclear war without the other player being comatose.
- ryansimbalist, on 10/07/2008, -2/+9Let's ride go-karts.
- kevlar21, on 10/07/2008, -0/+4You can't paint flames on tic-tac-toe… or chess… or war.
- Jabunx, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1Just imagine two dictators... Lawl
- jenshik, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1No. Let's play Global Thermonuclear War.
- bobboberton, on 10/07/2008, -18/+27I think it was chess...
- vinceislegend, on 10/07/2008, -12/+547Calvin and Hobbes will always get my Diggs.
- NRay7882, on 10/07/2008, -1/+6123 years later, and it's still the best comic strip there is.
- Zuwxiv, on 10/07/2008, -0/+16Every so often I go through my C&H books... Always fun. Possibly the best comic of recent times.
- Buddhaismybuddy, on 10/07/2008, -0/+26You said recent, you meant all.
- Zuwxiv, on 10/08/2008, -0/+4Ah. My mistake.
- joegibes, on 10/07/2008, -2/+7Diggs? I dugg this up with my 48 accounts as well.
- metaliq, on 10/07/2008, -1/+10Multiple Calvin and Hobbes submissions = multiple diggs
- primaldefense, on 10/07/2008, -0/+5I can't argue with this reasoning. It will always be my favorite comic strip. Foxtrot and Farside ones being right under that. :)
- SFBWork, on 10/07/2008, -10/+183Bill Waterson was ahead of his time. I'm almost 30, Calvin and Hobbes will always be a role model for me.
- al1encas1no, on 10/08/2008, -0/+3I'm 22. I read Calvin and Hobbes at every meal for my first twelve years, and every time I reread it, I see how every anarchofascist view I hold was shaped by Mr. Watterson.
And also, I ended up a "noodle incident" kind of teenager.- fuhlavaflave, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2Please don't talk about the noodle incident.
- al1encas1no, on 10/08/2008, -0/+3I'm 22. I read Calvin and Hobbes at every meal for my first twelve years, and every time I reread it, I see how every anarchofascist view I hold was shaped by Mr. Watterson.
- Disease, on 10/07/2008, -6/+41He nailed the topic.
- ThunderPigs, on 10/07/2008, -8/+275Calvin and Hobbes can teach you so much more than anyone will know.
- jakobmakob, on 10/07/2008, -13/+2It's interesting how completely backwards that statement is.
- fatrandy13, on 10/07/2008, -12/+3no it won't
- Phalanxia, on 10/07/2008, -0/+24Calvin is the 6 year old we all wish we were, while Hobbes is the friend we wished we had.
That's how I see them.- brownsound00, on 10/07/2008, -0/+4So true, imagine being able to ride down that huge hill on your red wagon? or making those huge snow forts waiting for someone to attack you (i used to do that haha). man... Calvin and hobbes, how i miss thee
- hawk3210, on 10/08/2008, -1/+1Well, how can you teach what no one knows, sir?
Sentiment appreciated, and agreed with, however.
- theenginedriver, on 10/07/2008, -6/+327I'd just like to say that in my completely unprofessional opinion, Bill Watterson is definitely among the greatest American authors of the century.
- AnthonyFTMFW, on 10/07/2008, -1/+7Bill Watterson is God.
- brownsound00, on 10/07/2008, -0/+15Hey, you know what? I agree with you. He is one of the greatest. Not only does he present philosophical ideas in such a different medium.. and with such effectiveness, but he could make the next panel completely unrelated and hilarious. When you make a comic about a child and a stuffed tiger and it makes you contemplate major social issues... you win.
- wafflepiano, on 10/07/2008, -6/+180Oh hi, nostalgia, how's it going?
- mooseofshadows, on 10/07/2008, -0/+45man, nostalgia and I had some great times back in the day.

- raffyoh, on 10/07/2008, -6/+130Calvin and Hobbes will always be the greatest comic strip.
- poploserdigg, on 10/07/2008, -11/+3Its a fight to the death with Bloom County and the Far Side. Robotman is a good contender too.
- mcbutterbuns, on 10/08/2008, -1/+2Yes, I'll have to agree, Bloom County is one of the best. I'd say Bloom County > Calvin & Hobbes
- mhuggins, on 10/08/2008, -10/+1You might have forgotten about a fat cat named Garfield.
- Quake120, on 10/08/2008, -1/+5Oh god. I will admit that Garfield Minus Garfield is pretty damn funny at times, but the original Garfield will NEVER even come CLOSE to Calvin and Hobbes.
Comparing Garfield to Calvin and Hobbes is blasphemous to say the very least. - sccrplyr40, on 10/08/2008, -4/+1Dilbert!? makes me laugh 95% of the time...the other 5% i just dont get the comic lol
- poploserdigg, on 10/07/2008, -11/+3Its a fight to the death with Bloom County and the Far Side. Robotman is a good contender too.
- cli006, on 10/07/2008, -3/+30Calvin and Hobbes really brings back good childhood memories, nothing better than wasting time in class reading about the heart warming adventures of a kid and his grand imagination.
- chewbacca77, on 10/07/2008, -0/+10Wasting time? I'm sure reading Calvin and Hobbes is better for you than class.

- brownsound00, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2haha, well now that fall is rolling around... and if i see calvin and hobbes, it always reminds me of the days that i used to pray for snow to come...
- velocity92c, on 10/07/2008, -4/+28Calvin and Hobbes really brings me back; it's by far the best comic strip of all time. I might have to go round up all my old books..
- darkciti2, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2I start my day with Calvin and Hobbes (online), it can really set your mood for the day.
- OCDMedic, on 10/08/2008, -1/+0I agree that Calvin and Hobbes is easily among the best, but it has a lot of competition with The Far Side.
- scoottie, on 10/07/2008, -20/+2but then we couldnt blame bush for something .... or clinton or the first bush or regan or carter or johnson or kennedy .... wait damn both sides have done stupid *****
- Hockey13, on 10/07/2008, -2/+3"both sides have done stupid *****"
Thanks for the analysis, scoottie from the second grade. The fact that you buy into the false dichotomy in American politics says scores about your critical thinking capacities. Also, the comic had nothing to do with American presidents.

- lolwutpear, on 10/07/2008, -5/+0Only one C&H at a time. This decade's is Cyanide and Happiness.
- lovek, on 10/07/2008, -3/+18What's the publication date on this one? I always like to see how long the "doomed to repeat it" cycle takes.
Man I miss C&H.- chewbacca77, on 10/07/2008, -0/+8It looks like a fairly early work... probably 87 or 88.
Edit: I was close. March 23, 1986 - gramathy, on 10/07/2008, -3/+0Damn, that's all of four days after I was born.
- pistonhonda, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2Holy *****, no way!

- Chilehead, on 10/07/2008, -1/+12Now that's the kind of war I can throw my wholehearted support behind.
Just how would a screwing war break out, and how can we get one started?
Proplylactics, not projectiles. - eigenweasel, on 10/07/2008, -1/+1We're already in your screw war - the future belongs to the tribe with the lowest intelligence and the highest promiscuity.

- kicker58, on 10/07/2008, -7/+6Amazing, what a perfect way to describe war. Maybe bush should read this
- CoreyHalliwell, on 10/07/2008, -4/+9Bush can't read.
- kicker58, on 10/07/2008, -5/+4Good point will take that into consideration. I thought for sure bush would read the comics to get his current events bc that is the only thing that would make sense in his policies.
- happytrees, on 10/07/2008, -0/+5someone should read it to him. and show him the pretty pictures.
- CoreyHalliwell, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2wow! someone negged me. Must have been that ***** who shot the guy wearing the Obama T-shirt. ***** idiot.

- chickenpelf, on 10/07/2008, -3/+13Wow. how appropriate. we're studying Mutually Assured Destruction in my International Politics class! Good ol' Calvin and Hobbes, bringing tigers into politics!

- bralynn, on 10/07/2008, -8/+61I had a deck of playing cards and asked Bush if he wanted to play a game. He said, "Sure! What game do you want to play?".
I said, "How about Wa..", before I could finish he slammed the Ace of Spades down and said, "I win!".
I said, "..but, that's not fair! You started before I could tell you I even wanted to play 'War', let alone, get the cards, deal them out and start playing!"
He just smiled and said, "That's how *I* play war.".- kmesp86, on 10/07/2008, -3/+44Should have punched him in the face while you had a chance.
- FallenTurtles, on 10/07/2008, -0/+6Pix or it didn't happen!
- kawaiirobo, on 10/07/2008, -1/+12Buried for over estimating Bush's cleverness.
- scotthew1, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1oh i thought you were gonna make a calvinball reference...
o well i guess with cards it wouldn't be exactly calvinball anyway... - Archer007, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1Should have stolen his baked beans recipe.
- BXRWXR, on 10/07/2008, -28/+1It's not quite New Yorker in it's obtuseness, but it's definitely up there.
- wibs, on 10/07/2008, -1/+12Wait, you don't get it? Or found it difficult to get? Or in some way had trouble grasping a point I got when I was reading Calvin & Hobbes in 3rd grade?
That sucks.

- Quake120, on 10/08/2008, -0/+21Buried for referencing those stupid stickers. What a disgrace to Calvin and Hobbes those are!

- flashingcurser, on 10/07/2008, -9/+1Nobody put up a Frisbee (shield) for dart (missile) defense?
- happytrees, on 10/07/2008, -1/+4someone should show this to our president. he may not read books or watch the news, but he just might read the funnypapers.
calvin and hobbes could change the world... again. - vofuse, on 10/07/2008, -2/+9Taking a position against war. Bill Watterson sure did take some tough stances.
- mrraven200, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1Tougher than 80% of Americans after the U.S. engaged in illegal wars of aggression against Iraq and Afghanistan in 2001 and 2003. Remember boys and girls those wars were unpopular only after we started losing. And yes I marched against them consistently even when they were popular.
- gaapgod, on 10/07/2008, -0/+6How about a nice game of chess?
- sylance, on 10/07/2008, -4/+11Quote - "Except for Ending Slavery, Fascism, Nazism and Communism, War Has Never Solved Anything." I'm not saying it's the best solution, but sometimes... sometimes it's the least of all bad options.
- analogkid01, on 10/07/2008, -1/+6Sure, as long as you're not making up reasons to go to war (e.g. Bush).
- AyaJulia, on 10/07/2008, -2/+6Err, what? All of those things are fully alive and well in certain countries/sects/cults.
- hagfish70, on 10/07/2008, -1/+3Well then maybe those countries/sects/cults, need to get their war on!
- EvilJelloMan, on 10/07/2008, -1/+8Communism ended? News to me!
- xshare, on 10/07/2008, -2/+8As far as I'm concerned, the war in those cases was started and instigated (read: caused) by the fascists, nazis, and slave-owners.
- sylance, on 10/07/2008, -2/+2Sure, take one piece of the statement, invalidate it in your mind and then invalidate the entire statement. An intelligent person would take the spirit of comment and either agree or disagree. But what ever makes you feel better about your beliefs. Believe it or not, peace just doesn't happen. It takes a lot of work, and sometimes takes lots of violence... or the capability and willingness to do violence.
- ungoliat, on 10/07/2008, -1/+2Communism is still alive and who says its bad?
- sylance, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1The 149,469,610 people who've been murdered under communism would probably say it's bad. Even if this number is exaggerated by 200%, it's still too many. That's not even mentioning life in a freedom-less country.
http://www.digitalsurvivors.com/archives/communist ... - pistonhonda, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1I say it's bad.

- eigenweasel, on 10/07/2008, -2/+2War didn't stop slavery. The Church of England stopped slavery.
- chosen2nd, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1I thought the Civil War stopped slavery here...
- spoering, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2A common misconception.
