Open Up, This is the Ministry of Vigilance! [COMIC]
simulatedcomicproduct.com — Will we ever become addicted to surveillance/visibility? Perhaps its becoming an affirmation of individual existence/worth as we move towards singularity. If you are seen, you exist. At least in the minds of others. The steady growth of webcam-based streaming on the web seem to point in that direction.

- malia94, on 08/16/2008, -31/+1Awesome comic. Very 1981. Very 2008.
- pdavda, on 08/17/2008, -0/+39Don't you mean very 1984?
- thegrantman, on 08/17/2008, -1/+29He never finished the book.
- pdavda, on 08/17/2008, -0/+39Don't you mean very 1984?
- Syugo, on 08/16/2008, -4/+60Strange, I'm reading that book 1984 by George Orwell right now...
- pdavda, on 08/17/2008, -1/+20Even stranger, I just finished reading that book yesterday!
- SeaweedWater, on 08/17/2008, -1/+56Even stranger, I'm illiterate.
- digitalpencil, on 08/17/2008, -1/+29^^ Even stranger, he can type!
- senatorpjt, on 08/17/2008, -0/+21Even stranger, I read the book in 1983.... It was a lot more exciting when it referenced an upcoming year!
- xptoast, on 08/17/2008, -9/+2Even stranger, it can't run Crysis.
- Ozeki, on 08/17/2008, -6/+1Even, even stranger, I read that book twice in two different languages!
- tidu, on 08/17/2008, -5/+2Even stranger, two of my illiterate friends died reading 1984.
- joegibes, on 08/17/2008, -1/+3Even stranger, I read the book in 1948... It was a lot more exciting when it wasn't out for another year!
- rpgmaker, on 08/17/2008, -3/+2Even stranger, Michael Phelps wrote the book.
- loganhid, on 08/18/2008, -1/+2Even Stranger.....wha'd ya buyin
- typicalkat23, on 08/17/2008, -3/+4dude! I'm reading that book too!... this is too weird!
- Chassit, on 08/17/2008, -1/+6Minivig
- jams999, on 08/17/2008, -1/+2Was an excellent story! One of my faves.
- moletimer, on 08/17/2008, -0/+7It's definitely one you have to read before you die, although I wasn't too keen on the ending. Any thoughts?
- rudeboyskunk, on 08/17/2008, -0/+10I thought the ending was perfect. No hope.
- EmperorOfCheese, on 08/17/2008, -0/+6I thought the ending fit well with the rest of the book. The point of a dystopian novel would be somewhat ruined with a cheery ending.
- joegibes, on 08/17/2008, -0/+8HE LOVED BIG BROTHER
- Ramble, on 08/17/2008, -3/+3It's not really that 1984 at all. It's more The Prisoner than anything else. Characters/The Party in 1984 wouldn't act like that, plus you never find out how they watch all those telescreens, it'd be a bit of a letdown if it was just lots of people watching.
- rpgmaker, on 08/17/2008, -0/+1I just downloaded the movie...
- rudeboyskunk, on 08/17/2008, -0/+1Be careful. There's nothing worse than English people with tons of body hair.
- pdavda, on 08/17/2008, -1/+20Even stranger, I just finished reading that book yesterday!
- ShoggothDreams, on 08/16/2008, -1/+14Nice to see folks starting to realize how good SCP is, in terms of being meaningful...in a creepy twisted convoluted way. :P
- coldfusion1970, on 08/17/2008, -38/+2I really didnt enjoy it. No digg.
Can we have some XCD please.- Cndor, on 08/17/2008, -4/+1/sarcasm
Just in case...- coldfusion1970, on 08/17/2008, -1/+1I definitely wasnt being sarcastic.
XCD is way better than this comic.
- coldfusion1970, on 08/17/2008, -1/+1I definitely wasnt being sarcastic.
- Cndor, on 08/17/2008, -4/+1/sarcasm
- consciousNOT, on 08/17/2008, -34/+0Gay.
- camilos007, on 08/17/2008, -0/+22That's nice. But you should find a more suitable place to come out of the closet.
- 955701, on 08/17/2008, -6/+4Isn't that the truth. So many people I know People who are okay with all of the intrusions on their lives just want someone to be interested in their lives.
- naugrim, on 08/17/2008, -12/+2Hmmm... now I just know there's a joke stuffed in this strip somewhere. If only I knew where to look....
/sigh - socivitus, on 08/17/2008, -1/+10The future is scary.
So are people who care about being seen and thought about. - goggys, on 08/17/2008, -10/+1I know this is digg/4chan, but not everything needs to be funny.
- camilos007, on 08/17/2008, -2/+41As long as this keeps away the terrorists, we should all accept and embrace this...
/sarcasm - coffee200am, on 08/17/2008, -2/+28This must be about the UK...
- HippyJM, on 08/17/2008, -1/+2Or NYC now
- KingGorilla, on 08/17/2008, -1/+2Don't you mean Oceania?
- Myonosken, on 08/17/2008, -0/+3Not really. This must be about LONDON.
- ripple123, on 08/17/2008, -10/+1they're called 'comic strips' cause there funny. yknow, thats the 'comic' bit of 'comic strips'. but in this case, well have to substitute something else, like maybe, 'waste of my ***** time strip' or 'no ***** redeeming qualities whatsoever strip'. try and work a swearword in there somewhere.
- arjie, on 08/17/2008, -0/+2http://simulatedcomicproduct.com/2007/04/23/the-gu ...
I liked this one much better, thought it was pretty funny (and insightful). Though if you're a big fan of war, you might not like it.
Comic strips needn't be funny though. So many of the Calvin and Hobbes series weren't all about being funny.
- arjie, on 08/17/2008, -0/+2http://simulatedcomicproduct.com/2007/04/23/the-gu ...
- use2bacanadian, on 08/17/2008, -5/+2That is Canada - not the US - where we actually have laws against privacy.
- travis1982, on 08/17/2008, -1/+3WRONG.
- consciousNOT, on 08/17/2008, -12/+1No--the comic is gay. But you got your (+) diggs. It's cool, I can troll up some diggs myself.
- Scriabin, on 08/17/2008, -1/+5You know 1984 wasn't the only book written on this topic.
- HMMcKamikaze, on 08/17/2008, -0/+4But it's probably the best. Kafka's The Trial is great too, but that's more about a Kritocracy than Totalitarianism.
- ejpusa, on 08/17/2008, -6/+1Good comments above, if no one cares about your life, is it really a life worth living?
CHIPP ME please! :-) - arjie, on 08/17/2008, -1/+2I remember a sci-fi story series on a flash fiction site 365tomorrows that had a similar idea. However, in that story, the people would all be shown each other, in a reality-TV entertainment sort of way. It was a pretty good idea. I want spoil the story itself if any of you look for it (it's a few hundred words, anything I say will be a spoiler :) )
- Whitey07, on 08/17/2008, -2/+9That seems to be like Britain and a few other countries, God I hate the government.
- xptoast, on 08/17/2008, -0/+3God hates your government too...if He doesn't I do.
- nakedcellist, on 08/17/2008, -1/+10Great comic, did not know that one. I like this one: http://simulatedcomicproduct.com/2008/06/07/specia ...
- coldfusion1970, on 08/17/2008, -0/+1Dont find this one funny either.
They need to buck-up their ideas.
- coldfusion1970, on 08/17/2008, -0/+1Dont find this one funny either.
- boshuda, on 08/17/2008, -10/+1UH oh, Conspiray Theorists coming, lookout...

- chikuten, on 08/17/2008, -1/+6this is so unrealistic. CRTs are soooooo long ago.

- melonhedd, on 08/17/2008, -0/+4citation needed
- Wartz, on 08/17/2008, -0/+2CRTs are awesome
- govsucks, on 08/17/2008, -4/+3How else is the government supposed to provide you with the best health care if they can't see what you put into and do with your body. Cameras in our homes is just the next step in social collectivism. In one hundred years, collectivists will require brain implants so we don't think racist or offensive thoughts, then after that is when we get our cube and start assimilating other species.
- jaythewise, on 08/17/2008, -0/+1http://simulatedcomicproduct.com/2008/07/23/such-d ...

"Could help the market, na?
I mean, with people always watching, one must look one’s best.
Gotta get new threads, get the hair done.
End result: Surveillance = Economic stimulation!

Dumbass...- simplyintricate, on 08/17/2008, -0/+3No, it'd increase government spending and we have a huge debt already, so it'd just cause more inflation.
- simplyintricate, on 08/17/2008, -0/+3No, it'd increase government spending and we have a huge debt already, so it'd just cause more inflation.
- ferg2k8, on 08/17/2008, -0/+1Being Watched Sucks!!!!! I have already wasted three rolls of duck tape covering all the cameras around here.
- Shirleycakes, on 08/17/2008, -0/+2I thought comics were supposed to bring the funny with them? They forgot the funny.
- vijethk, on 10/18/2008, -0/+1oh god not voilence in comics too i feel this wil have bad effect on childrens.
