I think I see why it would be a bad idea to tell malleable minds such a thing.

        You IQ =/= your intelligence, nor does it attempt to measure your intelligence; it is merely a measurement of your mental age (actual intelligence) over your physical (actual chronological) age. If a 5 year old were as smart as a 5 year old, she would have an IQ of 100. If she were as smart as a 6 year old she'd have an IQ of 120. She'd only have to be as smart as a 10 year old to have an IQ of 300.

        If a 5 year old were half as smart as cl2yp71c, she'd have an IQ of 170.

        But as cl2yp71 didn't know that, I'd say he has the IQ of a rock.

      BUT, and this is a big but, I know a lot of tall women and not a SINGLE one would date a short guy. I think its one of the very rare instances where women are actually more superficial than men.

      Although the girl I just went out with last week was 5'10", i was pretty happy about that. And with heals she was over 6'...good stuff :)

    As to "we are responsible for poverty in Africa" this is ridiculous. Wealth is created, you can make more or less of it. Do you truly think that the ancient Greeks were responsible for the comparative poverty of the native Indians?
    Also, you'll find that those who reach the top are actually nice. Mostly because you can't make it on your own. Failure makes you bitter and "evil".

      The novel (and subsequent show with the same title) Guns, Germs, & Steel describes *why* certain cultures were less advanced (such as the Native Americans of North and South America, and why Indo-European culture thrived and created an "advanced" civilization "quicker" than other continents with the Native Americans, and the continent of Africa. And thus why there is a difference in material wealth.

      I totally agree with the above poster, although I think it has more to do with the "Guns, Germs, & Steel" cause, than anything else.

      And although this *is* cynical, it isn't necessarily "wrong", to someone out there, this is dead-on right.

    • Versh, on 07/07/2008, -0/+6Exactly! This comic is filled with tired cliched sayings, and instead of addressing them, it reinforces what the original premise set out to disclose. But judging from the other comics hosted on the site, I guess one shouldn't expect much.
      Sotha Sil is right about the Jared Diamond book-- civilizations thrive best under the correct doses of climate, agriculture and cultural identity-- but I don't think the comic is insinuating that other people are responsible for Africa's plight, it's just a criticism on the lack attention toward their problems.
      The morality of this comic is too bitter and pessimistic for my tastes-- and for the thousandth time, money is not the root of all evil!
