- JoeDiggsIt, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Looks like it's holding up fine....but thanks anyway.
- HBNDonut, on 10/11/2007, -7/+13I dont even own a business. But I really want my own business card now!
- nohealani, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2meh, you don't need a business to make your own business card! just create a nice business card with your personal information on it so when people ask you for your phone number/email all you have to do is whip out a card.
- energyblue, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2You sound like the type who keep their pens in ink order in your shirt pocket.

- logstaa, on 10/11/2007, -3/+14Queue American Psycho references....
- LxRogue, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Yea, but American Psycho was satire. This is for real.
- Bahimiron, on 10/11/2007, -1/+39Look at that subtle off-white coloring. The tasteful thickness of it. Oh my God, it even has a watermark.
- skoles, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8It's bone.
- digdugsmug, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4And the lettering is something called Silian Rail...

- rtphokie, on 10/11/2007, -15/+70nearly all are fine examples of form over function
illegible fonts
overuse of whitespace
underuse of whitespace
nonsensical use of non-latin characters
tone on tone
embossing
mixed media (gluing things to other things isn't design, isn't art, it's kindergarten)
hole punching
funky shapes that will ensure that the card cant be stored with other cards and will probably get lost
in general any card that you have to search for the information on, is not a good one.- trying2hide, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1Your comments are very true.
But - some of them are thinking out of the box.
I'd much rather see them try and think out of the box and conform a tad more, and see how they can "revolutionize" the industry.- dizzledaking, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Your comment contradicts itself. Thinking outside of the box means you are trying to not conform...
- cosequin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Don't think different, think different from all the herd-following sheep
If everyone is "thinking outside the box" then by not being like everyone else, by actually using a business card that is clear and concise, and the info is easy to find, would be smart, since now every digg dork is going to be known by his flashy (read: illegible) business cards.
- cosequin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Don't think different, think different from all the herd-following sheep
- dizzledaking, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Your comment contradicts itself. Thinking outside of the box means you are trying to not conform...
- sacherjj, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13However, that is what is needed to get that edge. I don't store business cards either. I get them, type them into my Treo. Get rid of them. However, an intelligent design actually might make me keep the card (which is rare.) The age of the Rolladex and Business Card file is over. New innovative card design has a place.
- resplence, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I totally agree. But it makes for a memorable card. When you're in business you may end up carrying dozens of different cards. Which one are you most likely to remember?
Now, the other side of the story is that, if a card is bothersome to keep for some reason, because it doesn't conform to the standards, I will just toss it altogether. So, although I made that point, I wouldn't go for a solution like that. - CarolynMittens, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5rtphokie, try applying to any design firm with a business card that does not stand out and see how many call backs you get.
- MISDIREK7ED, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2I was just wondering about the hole punching.. seems like a stupid, useless trend. Nevertheless, some beautiful designs here.
- b3mus3d, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3"(gluing things to other things isn't design, isn't art, it's kindergarten)"
Where does the kindergarten end and the art begin? o.O- sacherjj, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Although you have to admit. Much modern art looks like a 5 year old went crazy with the finger paints. That will be $10,000 please, for my tortured soul. Puuuleeese.
- burke, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Agreed for the most part, but oddly shaped cards can be better, in many cases, simply *because* they don't fit in with other cards. You can't just shove them in with all the other cards you collect. It's more likely to sit out in eyesight.
- pbandchocolate, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1You're just a poo poo er. I am a handbag designer - and the trend towards unique business cards has been building for quite some time. In any art related field you need a unique card. I now look at regular business cards and just think "oh, how boring" It's nice that this small item has become a new realm to create art.
- beckspace, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4most of these cards are from designers, photographers and art houses, so they stand out. Most of them dont apply to every common business in town
of course your accountant wouldnt use a Transformers business card that shines in the dark, is not that clear?
- trying2hide, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1Your comments are very true.
- jamble, on 10/11/2007, -7/+94I'm disappointed this article doesn't seem to mention the iPhone anywhere. Ruined my day.
- ubiquitous03, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2And i thought business cards were on their way out as people exchange URLS (for blogs or homepages etc..) these days! But looking at these examples... long live the business card - for designers at least ;P
- cr1t, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2The ones from sandstorm design is classic
- binorgog, on 08/07/2008, -2/+15Where is the digger screaming "NOTHING BEATS WOZ'S CARD"

- aservin, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Not the best way to show the cards but some of them are really good.
- shankarganesh, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1ain't that nice
- dawgma, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3That's bone.
- thewaxgrid, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1The font is something called "Sillian Rail".
- pengas, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9when the page is laid -out like this who wants to even bother with it?
- DrIce926, on 10/11/2007, -6/+2I am really sick of "stories" dugg that have been on del.icio.us for a few days already.
Then again, with the digg mentality, "maybe this is what *I* should do!" Come on folks, aggregation isn't original.- uberphildo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Not every single person has the chance to browse the entire internet 24 hours a day to see every possible new thing as soon as it's online like you do.
- bitcloud, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I was hoping to see some inspirational *designs*
I like that these people are all trying something new and innovative in the way the cards are put together, but as a designer you don't get to suggest "we'll print it on rubber and glue tassles onto it". You have to rely on clever use of color and typography to stand out on a standard card shape and size. - TheMack, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Anyone know where you can get cards like that printed? Doesn't seem like something your local Kinko's could handle.
- Sabin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Got a specific one in mind cuz there are a lot of different cards on there that would be produced in many different ways. You would be surprised at how easy it really is to make most of those cards.
- robrandtoul, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3More cool cards http://www.plasmadesign.co.uk/plasticbusinesscards.htm and http://www.plasmadesign.co.uk/metalbusinesscards.htm
- TheKidd, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Here's a great one for a divorce lawyer: http://www.ibelieveinadv.com/2006/11/divorce-lawyer/
- rtphokie, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Wow, it's expensive to be cool.
Plastic cards start at $2.36 PER CARD
Metal cards start at $4.89 PER CARD
- TheKidd, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13I appreciate the work that went into making this list and sharing it. However, with the number of free gallery apps available there's no excuse for a gallery like this.

It will probably take a while to load 'cause it's a ton of iframes. - axisds, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3I just had my business cards printed. They came out exactly like I wanted them to and they really fit with the theme of my site and I think they look better then most of these cards to boot.

- vonskippy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Want some sage advice - don't quit your day job.
- JJMaxx, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Ugh..thumbnails.. that means 450+ clicks to view each one, the 450+ back button clicks... thats like 900+ clicks.. I better buy a new mouse.
- matteusx, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Cool cards, but I lost my patience with the website after looking at only 3 of them. Sucks when such great content is delivered so poorly.
- Shiftgood, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3It must be hard handing over a $45 business card to a potential client.
- uptown, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3If it only costs $45 to lock in a client, that's money well spent....
- sacherjj, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Depends on how much you make. If you hand over 100 cards at the cost of $20, and make $20,000. Not bad. If you hand over 100 cards at the cost of $5,000, and make $5,000,000. Not bad. Both are 0.1% business card costs. Sometimes clients like to see decadence in those they hire. It seems to indicate that they are good at what they do. (Rightfully so or not.) I seriously doubt many of those at in the $45 range at quantity.
- redrighthand, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Hey my buddy Scott Langdon is in there! http://dailypoetics.typepad.com/photos/business_cards_and_other_/p1010145_2.html
- cosequin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I wonder if this is really just a brilliant way to get their contact info out there.
- givemereplay, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Utterly unusable website.
- tony4moroney, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4nice find, but perhaps the guy could do with a little inspiration in photography and product presentation himself.
- bruinexmo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Cool cards. The site sucks. Ironic that it's showcasing good design.
