Crazy Flipping Japanese Roller Coaster
knuttz.net — This has gotta be one of the most intense coasters in the world. Named the "Eejanaika" at Fuji-Q Highland in Japan, it has a top speed of 126 km/h, an angle of descent of 89 degrees! and 14 inversions (apparently, a new Guinness record). But that's not all; the individual seats can rotate 360 degrees, flipping the rider!

- digg it
- lukychmz, on 10/12/2007, -49/+12how long before theres one of these at 6 flags?....soon I hope, awesome
- loganz, on 10/12/2007, -6/+147six flags magic mountain had one for years now
- supportdigg, on 10/12/2007, -370/+2Nude girls: http://www.myspace.com/supportdigg
- Louis11, on 10/12/2007, -12/+54***** ban supportdigg he's an ass with a gay myspace.
- SniperX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+46Yeah, as stated below (for some reason) Six Flags Magic Mountain in Southern California has one, named "X".
Great ride, closed down a lot for maintenance though. - cbasst, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17@Louis.
I think digg should place a permanent block on any spammers. With a right to appeal to the block of course. - Klarth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24When I went to Magic Mountain, the line for X was three hours long.
My god it was worth it more than any other line I have ever waited in. - Louis11, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9@cbasst
Screw his right to appeal, people like him are ruining digg for all of us. Honestly, do we care what he has to say? How many intellectual or witty comments will you get out of him? - yadobaka, on 10/12/2007, -5/+35http://collect.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=misc.contactInput&ProfileContentID=90428837
ban supportdigg's myspace account - warfang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Yeah 6 Flags in California has one like that. It's not nearly as big. It's an awesome ride but this is like mixing The X and Goliath together. I would love to ride this one.
- neuroticus, on 10/12/2007, -11/+12Looks like a puke factory to me.
- UncleHenry, on 10/12/2007, -8/+17I waited 3 hours for this after going across country just to ride it. I hated every second. Since the seats are so far away from the track, the seats bounce like no other, slamming your body into the restraints. Not a pleasant experience. The most over-rated ride I have ever experienced. It looks awesome, but is quite painful.
- Johnny87, on 10/12/2007, -13/+2looks like an awesome ride... it's a shame the You-Tube video makes it look like crap...
- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12supportdigg is the same guy as diggfan and about a dozen others. somebody find out this guy's personal info, please?
- kaplanfx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9The ride was developed by the now defunct Arrow Dynamics. The coaster type is called a "4th Demensional Coaster" Apparently S&S Power bought Arrow out and kept it around to specifially manufacture this type of coaster. This Japanese coaster is the second one to come out after X at SFMM.
From the wikipedia page for arrow at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arrow_Dynamics
"Renamed Arrow Dynamics finally fell into bankruptcy in December of 2001. During October of 2001 the company's assets were sold to fellow amusement ride manufacturer S&S Power. Arrow Dynamics, now S&S-Arrow still operates, but basically only to make their 4th dimension coasters. The first multidimension coaster since X debuted in Japan for 2006, Eejanaika." - CanceledCzech, on 10/12/2007, -19/+4What? Did someone say "nude girls"? Golly-Gee, I just can't get enough of those nude girls. Oh looks, his name is "supportdigg", looks like he's one of us because his name says so. The absurd part about this self-referential comment is that I know that *****-head up there with the myspace link isn't coming back to check responses to his comment, and yet still posted a response. The sad part is that who ever these people/person are/is, they are getting traffic, which means money.
- TomP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I think i'd ***** mself.
- mikesbaker, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4well its not quite the same but here is one of my favs. its in 6 flags georgia
http://www.themeparkreview.com/photos/sfog/ninja.htm
also please stop respond to these my space spams he's not going to stop and it ruins a discussion thread
and he live in NJ - someone who lives there should take a ***** on his front porch - coasterswim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8@kaplanfx: "X" is THE reason that Arrow fell into bankruptcy. Months of delays and millions of dollars in adjustments killed them.
@mikesbaker: Ninja is one of the worst rides still standing. Period. - djrbx, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1@warfang
It's the same exact ride that they have in SFMM "X"
@mikesbaker
That's also the exact ride that they had in Paramounts Great America in the Bay Area, but it was called Stealth.
You can read abouth PGA and Stealth here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paramount's_Great_America - coasterswim, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1@djrbx: Ninja is a sit-down coaster. Stealth was a flying roller coaster. The only thing they have in common is the manufacturer.
- endekks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Having been to Fuji-Q highlands several times and ridden their "bigger" coasters, I can say that most of them broke a world's record at some point or another - until a newer coaster came along, of course. I haven't been able to ride Eejanaika yet, but some friends and I are planning to hit Fuji-Q as soon as it gets a bit warmer here.
- mikesbaker, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2@coasterswim
your opinion - i still love it - demps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@coasterswim - Actually Stealth (which is now a Paramount's Carowinds) has nothing to do with X. X was originally engineered and manufactured by Arrow Dynamics. Arrow Dynamics was later bought by S&S Power who, now with the engineers and designers from Arrow, created Eejanaika. Stealth is a 'flying dutchman' style coaster that was designed by Vekoma in Europe.
- blaze03, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you haven't had the chance to ride X at Six Flags Magic Mountain and are a fan of roller coasters, you need to set aside some vacation time and do it asap. One of the most amazing experiences you'll ever ..."X-perience" (sorry).
- darkcrystal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Stealth didn't last long. Got replaced by some stupid kiddie-water park thing. What a shame. I thought it was a cool ride.
- sorahn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27sooner then soon, 6 Flags Magic Mountain already has one.
http://www.sixflags.com/parks/magicmountain/Rides/x.html- NorCal05, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1with a hideous paint job
- Qenton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I believe the Japanese one is a copy of the Magic Mountain one. Hopefully they worked out a lot of bugs and increased the throughput.
- mvanhorn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19Direct link to video of coaster
http://youtube.com/watch?v=4kMARGNfHfU&embed - coastyvet, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7I rode this at Magic Mountain, I think in 2003. This was the smoothest coaster that I have ever been on. I could have rode this all day. DEFINITELY THE COOLEST COASTER I'VE EVER BEEN ON!!!!!!!
- sfmman, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13X was never smooth.
- SoCalChris, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Not sure why sfmman was dugg down. X really never was smooth.
In fact, it was closed for several months soon after it opened because the massive amount of shaking was cracking the arms on the cars that hold the seats.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X_(roller_coaster)
- moosethumbs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4X at Six Flags Magic Mountain is totally awesome, but the lines are always ridiculous.
- Karmalary, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I bet the lines in Japan are even longer though. Magic Mountain in my travel plans this Spring :)
- nreynolds, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I've been on X, Deja Vu, Scream, Tatsu and everything else at Six Flags Magic Mountain. X is awesome but I have to say Tatsu is the coolest coaster I've ever been on. Make sure to go at night. When you're flying upside down and sideways the views you get are crazy. It's hard to describe but the way they built that coaster makes everything awesome. Only problem is when you're done, they keep you lying in that seat for about 3 minutes crushing your lungs. Also, the seats aren't exactly built for the more manly among us.
- CornMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5X at magic mountain is by far the best coaster i've been on.
- fober, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0I think this is the same as "X" at Six Flags Magic Mountain in California.
This ride is better than drugs.
EDIT: As stated above.- techpimp, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2they say as you wait in line and I quote
"Enjoy your experience on X!"
It's fun, but drugs are way more fun.
- techpimp, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2they say as you wait in line and I quote
- phillippe, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17I'd have to say Top Thrill Dragster and Millennium Force are two of the COOLEST COASTER'S I'VE EVER BEEN ON!!!!!! (And just about everything else at Cedar Point.)
- majortom1981, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Too bad Six Flags Magic Mountain has a 4-d coaster already
- tralalaa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8"I'd have to say Top Thrill Dragster and Millennium Force are two of the COOLEST COASTER'S I'VE EVER BEEN ON!!!!!! (And just about everything else at Cedar Point.)"
Amen to that! - Coestar, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3DISASTER TRANSPORT!!! The only coaster that takes you back in time to a 1980's sci-fi film. THE ONLY COASTER YOU NEED!
- tralalaa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Disaster Transport kinda sucks. It'd be better if they had drops and loops inside that you totally couldn't see, but it's just a poor man's space mountain :(
- Coestar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8@tralalaa:
Staying true to it's theme, DISASTER TRANSPORT!!! rides like a B-movie; it's so bad, it's good. All it needs is snakes and it'd be golden. - joshuakulpa, on 10/12/2007, -15/+2I agree the roller coasters at Cedar Pointe are cool and all... I'd give them all up to be able to ride that thing.
By the way, please don't use all caps. It's web etiquette rule #5 : http://192.107.108.56/portfolios/r/ryter_m/Safety/netique.html - Coestar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5@joshuakulpa
Thank you for saving us, internets police! What would we have done without you?
Additionally, I think that webpage is defying more than a few laws of web DESIGN (ooo caps) etiquette, jerky! - tralalaa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0DT used to be Avalanche Run. They just put it inside of a building. IMO, if they were to put anything inside of a big dark building, it should be the corkscrew. Damn that would be so much better.
...or the magnum! Oh man, if that was 100% indoor and dark... wow. Best ride ever.
http://www.coastergallery.com/CP/cedarpoint.html - Coestar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1@tralalaa:
Well, I was just playing around anyway. DT is not really a fun ride, but it is a funny one. - leedonahoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've been to both Cedar Point and Magic Mountain and I can confidently say that Cedar Point has nothing nearly as instense as X (the coaster the that japanese one is a duplicate of).
- jgreene777, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5{hurk}
- Luthor, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I thought I was going to be ok...but that sound...yeah...gonna hurl...
- batmandude8, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"X" is best, most original thrill ride/roller coaster to date. It's the first 4th Dimension coaster. Sadly, it's is closed for awhile due to some construction; I went the day after Christmas.
- sfmman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah...closed for "construction"
- Atlantics, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's in what they call "rehab" the ride should be on FINALLY next week (feb 3). It should be smooth since they rehabbed the whole ride/trains and got a new motor.
- JimmyLin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That guy definitely has balls to film while he's on the ride. I'd be holding onto the bar and screaming my lungs out.
- tralalaa, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Why? You won't fall out.
- kirk06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Umm, no but the camera can.
Safety first, stunt team! - kdmaster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2he probably used good ol' duct tape to secure the camera
- deviationer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1stop posting ***** from that site, they can't handle the traffic, images are always broke
- baldycraig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The japanese "woaaaahhhhh" is slightly different than english.
- Coestar, on 10/12/2007, -3/+25yea, it's like "gooooooojjiiiiiirrrrraaaaaaa!!!"
- zonk3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4...and the clapping at the beginning and end. "Yayyy, you made it alive!" I can only assume that is why they are clapping.
- Moosington, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1X is an amazing ride, too bad Magic Mountain is closing.
- sfmman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Magic Mountain isn't closing.
- soupyc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It's a distinct possibility, though the CEO doesn't seem to think so:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_Flags_Magic_Mountain#Park.27s_uncertain_future
- rda52, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1x is one of the best coasters ive been on, i hope they dont close magic mountain and destroy it for more homes :(
- Slipknotic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Already have one in my roller coaster tycoon park.
- spacemanspork, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Yeah when I first saw the web page my first reaction was "Isn't that just 'X' from Magic Mountain?"
Meh. I wasn't all that impressed with X myself. The first time I rode it (2.5 hour wait), it gave me a head ache (I was sitting on the outside). The girl in my group who rode on the outside seat also got a head ache. The two people riding inside seats were fine. The second time I went on it was better, but still not worth the wait. X could be my favorite ride there if it weren't for the nasty ass wait. I think for wait to fun ratio I'll still take Batman, Goliath, and Deja Vu over it. Oh and Viper later in the day (for some reason the times I've been there Viper has like a 10 minute wait later in the day). - jonathono2000, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0See where it happens here: http://grapheety.com/?story=279&zoom=15
- eurocrisp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i never thought motion sickness could be physically embodied on such a grand scale and with as much detail... it's perfectly terrifying to behold
- jbc95a, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The video on that page was great---- at the end, the camera man actually rode the coaster and gave us a 1st person view of the experience... hardly enough to enjoy being there, but certainly a great peek into what it would be like.
- orangekid13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'd love to see one of those coasters combined with the kind that shoots you up the first hill like The Hulk
- Disease, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2How many times will I see the name Magic Mountain...
- mulletman13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yea this is nothing more than an Arrow 4-D coaster. Many people mentioned it before, but this is the second one built and hopefully it improves on the first one.
By 'flipping' coaster, I thought the OP meant a Vekoma tilt coaster... now that's something I would not want to get on :) - cbergeron, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1So that explains why Japanese people take so many pictures at amusement parks?
Has anyone else ever noticed that?
(This is only a joke, and it's not mean to be degrading to persons of Japanese descent...) - Amusing, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Hmmm, looks like a new coaster to ride. ^_^
- aragami, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3now that looks scary :-D
*hopes someone in the uk makes one* - hanshasuro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Fun to note that the name of the coaster is roughly, "Why not?"
- aragami, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4perhaps it's answering the question you ask yourself when you see it?
"christ that looks scary, should i go on it?"
*looks at the ride* "why not?"
- aragami, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4perhaps it's answering the question you ask yourself when you see it?
- ajani57, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0This was more like an advertisement for a site than anything else, blinking surveys and stuff. You can learn a lot more about the roller coaster by googling it.
- nancarrow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I was at fuji-q a week before the ride was open to the public and I was gutted. After riding X in Magic Mountain I know this ride would be great. I really wanted to go on it. I will go back there to ride it.
- subarumaniac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1sweet rubik's cubes
- freebsd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I rode this coaster over the holidays since I'm living in Tokyo right now. It was pretty frickin insane! I pretty much rode the thing all day, it was by far the best coaster in the park....
- movieman200x, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I know it's been said before, but this is a replica of "X" at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Southern California. I know this because it is absolutely my favorite ride. So fun! This one just sounds to be a little more intense, with Guinness records and all.
- AstralSin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2oh man, i love roller coasters, but OH MY GOD i would blow chunks HARD on this bad boy
- bizsumpark182, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I like coasters, but I don't know if I could get on that.
- haastyle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i don't think my browness can handle that
- RooDoG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I want to ride the new coaster Maverick at Cedar point far more than I want to ride this more... and it does not even break a record. Extreme coasters are soo 2000, i want immersion damn it!
- 574lk3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1
a bit of a short ride,
for the money id expect at least double the amount of time,
but then ive never been on a roller coaster. - scoho, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I rode the X at Magic Mountain as well. Great coaster but NO amusement park ride is worth a 2+ hour wait. I'd much rather ride something like the Goliath (which isn't as good as the X) for those two hours rather than stand there for 2 hours for a 3 minute ride.
- Slackerspencer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I'm Speechless. Why didn't anyone think of this before, can't wait till it comes to the u.s.
- Coronagold, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wally World is closed?!! (punches moose)
- rcruick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1you gotta click on anything titled "Crazy Flipping Japanese Roller Coaster" it is a must.
- sszhou, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0anyone else terrified of roller coasters and got goose gumps watching the video?
- CompIsMyRx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Is it just me, or were those people ***** SILENT compared to American riders. I've heard more screams on a teacup ride. It's downright disturbing.
- grgt1994, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1This is what happens when a cheap carnival ride designer (as in any typical tilt-a-puke or whirl-n-hurl you would find operated by a carnie somewhere between the elephant ear and cotton candy stands at your local crappy fair) somehow gets promoted beyond his own level of incompetence to be a roller coaster designer. IMHO the point of a thrill ride is the thrill, not the stupid next gimmick of the month. Maybe I have just been spoiled having the real rides of Cedar Pointe at close convenience. But this thing looks like a total gimmick.
- BigSlacker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3That's pretty impressive. Someone actually manages to be a negative spewing dork even about a roller coaster. Have you considered medication?
- BigSlacker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That looks pretty damn cool. Maybe a bit on the slow side but it's hard to tell from that video.
- MaxPayne3476, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ComplsMyRx, Teacups are extreme you don't understand
I live next to Six Flags Great Adventure so I've ridden Kingda KA before - now THATS a coaster.
Fastest and Tallest coaster in the world :) But you have to ride the front car for the full experience. Amazing
http://www.sixflags.com/parks/greatadventure/Rides/KingdaKa.html
We also have El Toro which has the largest angle of descent and also the second tallest, highest, and third fastest wooden coaster. It's just as crazy and fun. It's also the first "snap piece" wooden coaster so it's smooth as eggs - buntee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0must be an awesome ride... it looks like it lets you feel like you are falling head-first, backwards. i wish that they would bring this to florida :-)
- DenDen, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1http://youtube.com/watch?v=VxAj53Q-GUc
This coaster opened months ago, so this is kind of old. This video had POV and ground footage. - danggit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1LOL wow... something to try at least once in this lifetime. I love how they clap when the roller coaster starts! I've never been to an actual amusement park, is that a common thing to do across all cultures; or is that unique to Japan?
- thesixthdesign, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1It's not that cool .. why does this have so many Diggs?
I don't know, maybe it might be because I go to Six Flags once a year or so. -
