binnyva.blogspot.com — There are many tutorials about creating buttons and graphics in the new 'Web 2.0' style. Unfortunately, all these tutorials are for Photoshop users. The Gimp users are completely ignored. Now your problem is solved ..

- sfacets, on 10/12/2007, -23/+23There is no such thing as Web 2.0 graphics.
- wphj, on 10/12/2007, -21/+7Wrong.
Both grammatically and factually.
Web 2.0 is a distinct style, whether you like it or not. - countmandible, on 11/15/2007, -6/+7@wphj
I have to disagree.
Web 2.0 really refers to the new programming paradigm of client to server communication that does not require page refreshing.
It may also have other implications in interface design that go beyond just programming style...but graphic styles that are popular change faster than this. There will be new popular styles for web buttons long before anyone is using the term web 3.0. - sosudaniel, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10"There is no such thing as Web 2.0 graphics."
second that! - stoneyjonez, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3@wphj
You are a ***** moron. - wphj, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3@futureruins
People already use Web 3.0
Besides, "Creating Current Design Button Fad Style Graphics in Gimp" isn't as catchy. - david76, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1This style of graphics is a fad. Just like inner bevels were a fad. End of story. If you want your site to look dated in a couple of years, go ahead and use these tutorials.
- jav1231, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I was thinking the same thing. Of course, you're modded down...why I don't know. What? Is "Web 2.0" not using .jpg, .png, .gif or any of the popular formats anymore? We really need to stop with the so-called "new paradigm." Marketing hype is for the ignorant. When geeks start sucking the teat we've lost something.
- stoneyjonez, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Seriously though, Web 2.0 has NOTHING to do with the way a button looks. I buried this piece of crap for inaccuracy.
- JoeLeo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@futureruins:
Web 2.0 is social networking and user generated content.
You're are confusing Web 2.0 with AJAX.

The article shows you how to create an Aqua button, kinda. I don't see the connection to Web 2.0. - texpundit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I was thinking more along the lines of:
GIMP + Web 2.0 = oxymoron ?
Yeah, digg me down, GIMP fanboys. When GIMP handles CMYK without "script-fu" and has text editing worth a damn, I *might* consider using it. But for now, why would I want to take 30 minutes to create graphics in GIMP when I can do the same thing in under 5 minutes in Photoshop?
- wphj, on 10/12/2007, -21/+7Wrong.
- Pimpalicious316, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9lmao, so the "3D-Glass" style is now "Web2.0?" buzzwords for the ***** loss.
- profOblivion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2IANAWebdesigner, so forgive me for possibly being ignorant and oversimplifying, but when it comes right down to it, doesn't "Web 2.0" just mean "make it pretty" ?
EDIT: All that to say I agree with you. - stoneyjonez, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1If you think about it, there really is no such thing as 'Web 2.0'. It's just another stupid pop-culture term like 'blog'.
- mooatr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@stoneyjones; O'reilly?.
If you didn't get it; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_2.0 - stoneyjonez, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@mooatr
I got it lol. I read that Wikipedia entry already. Honestly, I just hate stupid terms like these. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go take a hit from my Illadelph bong 2.6 so i don't flip out over little things that shouldn't even matter to me, such as this.
- profOblivion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2IANAWebdesigner, so forgive me for possibly being ignorant and oversimplifying, but when it comes right down to it, doesn't "Web 2.0" just mean "make it pretty" ?
- jbrown101st, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13LMAO.... All that is, is a orange round box with a gradient applied.
- jsdratm, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4How many of these stupid web 2.0 graphics tutorials do we have to endure? Buried for spam!
- mrfrosti, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7The two applications are close enough that the concepts are still the same. Photoshop tutorials can be used on the GIMP, and vice versa.
- bieber, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Not exactly. It takes some very interesting workarounds to deal with the fact that GIMP doesn't have layer styles...
- chriskzoo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Gradients = Web 2.0? Man, I've been web 2.0 for almost a decade!
- thebankshow, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Web 2.0 or not, 3d-Glass is a technique and I would think that any experienced web developer/graphics person who saw a tutorial on what it should look like, could in fact switch between multiple tools and accomplish the same thing.
"you cannot get any more Web 2.0'er than that" - hahaha, I'm not even going to comment. - mooatr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The author of that (well-written) how-to looked like Pedro (from Napoleon Dynamite) with that gormless expression and tasche. No offence meant.
- kassaralzabadi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3While I agree that this style is a fad, and Web 2.0 is something else. I can claim that most of diggers know what is meant by "Web 2.0 Graphics". Right?
Nicely written how-to by the way. - jshusta, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2there are no revisions numbers for content. data is just data.
- dandiemer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the results were kinda sloppy on all the tutorials.
