The Mathematical Theory of Tying Neckties

tcm.phy.cam.ac.uk — Researchers at Cambridge University mathematically determine that, with some basic ground rules, there are exactly 85 ways to tie a necktie. Tired of the four-in-hand? (doubtful, if you're actually reading this) Of the 85 possible knots, at least 10 are aesthetically pleasing. This research was featured in Nature a while ago.
