- 7of7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I didn't like old Star Trek. In my mind Shatner is a horrible actor. That being said, Scotty was a memorable and good character. It sucks that all the good actors will be dying off soon leaving movies and TV to putrify under the likes of Johnny Depp.

"escuse me, but i was running things around here when your daddy was still in die-a-pers!" - abstractia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1He'll probably turn up in the transporter's pattern buffer in the future, and help explore a Dyson's Sphere.
If only Star Trek was real life... - GTAcrimelord, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Didn't like Star Trek much, but the ones I did see that had him in it always brought a smile to my face.
RIP...may your engines always maintain full power where you're going. - Optimus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lol. I love that TNG ep with Scotty.

- Optimus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Doohan was also a linguist, and devised the Vulcan and Klingon language dialogue heard in Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Over the next 20 years, other linguists expanded Klingon into a full language of its own."

- ModernTenshi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A true loss to this world. Scotty was one of the best characters from the Star Trek series. May he boldly go where ever he's headed right now.
- Fish123456, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow, that accent was fake? I guess I'm not as big a fan as I thought I was. ::plays whistle, signalling attention::

RIP. - RichieTheK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A sidebar in the ABC News story about Jimmy's death had an interesting typo. It said that he died on "July 20, 20005". Truly a man of the future!

http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory?id=961330 - Sithlrd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How much has the world been changed because of the The Miracle Worker? I got into computers because of him. I tinker with my Harley and cars because of him. I am fearless in tearing apart anything with a screw because of him. Thanks be to you, James Doohan. I truly believe your character changed everything.
The word is given, Mr. Doohan. Warp speed. - hardcoredj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Personal story- I was lucky enough to meet Mr. Doohan in 1990 at a local grocery store of all places. He was extremely gracious to this fanboy who in turn helped him locate an item on his grocery list that was clear across the store. That turned out to be the first of four TOS encounters I'd have over the next couple of years and by far the most memorable due to how personable Mr. Doohan was. Here's to wishing I had one more chance to help him in the store again. Goodbye, Mr. Doohan and thank you.
- Unkel_Slam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0[faced with a 20th century computer]
Scotty: Computer. Computer?
[Bones hands him a mouse and he speaks into it]
Scotty: Hello, computer.
Dr. Nichols: Just use the keyboard.
Scotty: Keyboard. How quaint. - leehord, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A sad loss of a fine actor and a major component of television history. May you boldy go where no one has gone before.
- Luke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I met James Doohan at a Trek Convention he like to talk to fans and a loss to the Trekkers...
- linux_pimp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I am one of the biggest star trek fans that I know (I am one steep short of wearing the uniform all the time) and he was one of the best actors i have ever seen. I meet him at a star trek convention here in Michigan when i was 8 or 9 years old. That is a long story in itself. I only beet him and Brent Spiner (Data). I wish I could have meat De Forest Kelley (Dr. Leonard 'Bones' McCoy), but cant dwell on the past.
James Doohan and De Forest Kelley where the only people to bring comedy to Star Trek, constantly, well Leonard Nimoy (Spock (Vulcan name unpronounceable)) brought his share of comedy.
James Doohan will be missed.RIP. - SilentSpyder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sad. But you of used another news site that isn't FOX.
