Microsoft bans TinyURL.com links from instant messages
mess.be — The absurdity continues: Microsoft adds another perfectly safe domain to their server-side SPIM-filter in MSN/Windows Live Messenger. Today's victim is TinyURL.com, a popular URL-shortening service that gets over 1.5 billion hits each month. Go ahead and try it (eg. http://tinyurl.com/ijtq or http://tinyurl.com/messbe).

- prophetpimp, on 07/10/2008, -1/+1I would really like to give live messenger a boot but ost of the people i know on MSN are not there on any other chat service so i still have to deal with MS crap. Why don't more people just shift to google talk is way beyond me. Its integration with gmail.com makes it far superior then the ***** that MS gave to us.
- tvanwyk, on 07/11/2008, -0/+2Yeah, so maybe the article's right and MS shouldn't be blocking this. Censorship and content nanny-ing suck.
But TinyURL is really well suited to sending unsuspecting people to bloody quadruple anal fisting pics and the like. Seriously, anybody dumb enough to click a tinyurl link deserves to see something shocking.
I say this as a supporter of the occasional Rick Roll.
