- kansai22, on 07/04/2008, -1/+2All Jay-Z does is free style. He wrote Black Album in 1 day. He never writes anything down its all off the top of his head. Listen to Reasonable Doubt and you can really tell most of the songs don't even have a hook and are strange lengths.

DarkoKun, relating Mc Hammer with Lil Wayne is like relating Solja Boi to Kanye West, their leagues apart in the amount of time theyve been on the scene. The reason Lil Wayne's music sells a lot is because of the awkwardness of it and the way he can consistently put punchlines together. I don't think he could even write what we he puts out because some of it is so varied. And just an FYI, if you don't listen to rap, Lil Wayne doesn't write. Jay-Z doesn't either, but i'd consider Lil Wayne better than Jay-Z. I've listened to countless Jay-Z albums over the years and personally he is a bit overhyped. I think Nas has always been better but Jay-Z has just marketed himself well as opposed to Jay-Z. Of coarse this is digg and i'm a producer myself so I'm sure most of you don't listen to much in the rap realm (whether it's trash or treasure music) anyway.

He still remains the same lyrical style, weird *****. It's cool though. He DOES work hard, in response to the posts above, the amount of music he's made is unfathomable.

Mainstream doesn't equal garbage, and being unheard of doesn't make you God's gift to rap. lil' Wayne freestyles which in itself is a talent, assuming you've taken the time to listen to his stuff. The Carter III isn't a collection of songs, it's a collection of stories spoken by the greatest man to pick up the mic.

Weezy is a beast. Just unstoppable. He doesn't even write ***** down, ever. He goes into the booth, freestyles that ***** off the top of his head, Puts out 5 mixtapes a year, each one of them being ***** rock solid. You indie rap snobs can go look up what pitchfork has to say about Lil' Wayne. His flow and inflection are so unique, he's not everything that's wrong with hip hop today. He's not even everything that's right about it. He's everything that's right about hip-hop tomorrow.

How can you honeslty say that Lil Wayne is better than Tupac?? Tupac, is in my opinion the greatest rapper (who knows if he is dead or alive btw, but lets not start that arguement). Please inform me how lil wayne is better. Is it just me or is everyone else tired of hearing Lil Wayne "freestyle" about how much he loves himself? It's getting a little old. Yea he is unique but best rapper ever, get the **** out of here.
Also, on the list of best rappers I would include Kayne, along with Eminem, Jay Z, etc.
