- DarkoKun, on 07/04/2008, -11/+6Hell no! Jay z or Nas should have the title. Wayne is not even close to being the best rapper alive. Have you heard the latest album? I swear it was freestyled the lyrics make no sense at all. Record sells means nothing! Just look at Mc hammer he sold records but now look at the guy.
- mariowario, on 07/04/2008, -2/+5His lyrics is exactly what sets him apart from anyone else out there. Those wtf moments when you playback a song to hear what the hell he just said is exactly what makes him unique and "one of the best" im my opinion.
...You looking for divine and the little intervention,
And them birds don't fly, without my permission.
I'm probably in the sky, flying with the fishes,
Or maybe in the ocean, swimming with the pigeons,
See my world is different...
- - Lil Wayne, Sky's the Limit
As much as everyone wants to hate him, he is the hardest working artist out there right now.- tehsilentcircus, on 07/04/2008, -3/+3"he is the hardest working artist out there right now."
You are joking right? Lil'wayne doesn't know ***** about how hard it is to make it in the industry, hard working my ass. He is a ***** tool for the music industry and corporations that control him, give it a year and people will say "lil'wayne who?" This is the way it works and deal with it. You will see. - Qorzm, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1He doesn't even write half of his own lyrics, how hard working can he be?

- fenixconnektion, on 07/04/2008, -3/+3Have you heard Jay-Z freestyle? Disappointing, to say the least.
- kansai22, on 07/04/2008, -1/+2All Jay-Z does is free style. He wrote Black Album in 1 day. He never writes anything down its all off the top of his head. Listen to Reasonable Doubt and you can really tell most of the songs don't even have a hook and are strange lengths.
- blackdude, on 07/04/2008, -2/+3I agree with mariowario. DarkoKun, relating Mc Hammer with Lil Wayne is like relating Solja Boi to Kanye West, their leagues apart in the amount of time theyve been on the scene. The reason Lil Wayne's music sells a lot is because of the awkwardness of it and the way he can consistently put punchlines together. I don't think he could even write what we he puts out because some of it is so varied. And just an FYI, if you don't listen to rap, Lil Wayne doesn't write. Jay-Z doesn't either, but i'd consider Lil Wayne better than Jay-Z. I've listened to countless Jay-Z albums over the years and personally he is a bit overhyped. I think Nas has always been better but Jay-Z has just marketed himself well as opposed to Jay-Z. Of coarse this is digg and i'm a producer myself so I'm sure most of you don't listen to much in the rap realm (whether it's trash or treasure music) anyway.
- thirdcoastborn, on 07/04/2008, -3/+2JayZ is one of the worst rappers of all time. Tupac will always hold the Title. Youngsta's don't know nothing bout Tupac.
- theshalit, on 07/05/2008, -1/+1I'm 17 and listen to All Eyez on Me on a daily basis.
Don't believe the hype.

- goofygarber, on 07/04/2008, -9/+18Tha Carter 3 was terrible and Lil' Wayne is everything that's wrong with hip hop.
- tehsilentcircus, on 07/04/2008, -8/+8I'm not a fan of rap but I do have an open mind, and this guy is all-in-all completely manufactured crap, just like the minds of the people that listen to it. Morons. MTV mind-***** culture manure, I can not stand it.
- Morshade, on 07/04/2008, -4/+6I like music
- identifiedlogo, on 07/04/2008, -6/+11Carter III was terrible...he sounds like a "midget on crack"...he doesn't have talent, vocal or lyrics...
- Rezistik, on 07/04/2008, -5/+7Tha Carter III was a terrible album, Lil Wayne is a terrible rapper, why people continue to attribute the title of greatest rapper...it...just I just don't even know. Inflated album sails do not mean a good album!
For the best rapper ever, honestly I don't think there is one there are too many greats, Jay Z, Nas, Eminem, Aesop Rock, KRS-One, Rakim, plenty of great rappers out there lil wayne...not one of them. - deltron, on 07/04/2008, -2/+9I've been listening to him for like 7 years now, it's so weird because it seems like in the past couple years he just BOOMED into the most popular rapper. He still remains the same lyrical style, weird *****. It's cool though. He DOES work hard, in response to the posts above, the amount of music he's made is unfathomable.
- blackdude, on 07/04/2008, -1/+3Yea, really hard, I couldn't believe he put out nearly 90 songs last year, I don't think there's much argument there.
- frenchkick, on 07/04/2008, -8/+5to put it simply....no
nowhere near actually
stop listening to everything you hear on the radio, it rots your mind
here is some recommended listing if you want REAL hip-hop
cadence weapon, wale, cool kids, mf doom, j dilla, anything madlib produces - pitchblack16, on 07/04/2008, -2/+3i wouldnt go so far as saying the best when this guys career has just taken off, if he is this successful for the next 10 years, than ya id put him in class with all the other great ones, but as for right now, no he is not the best, not after sales from his first album release
- Sanduu, on 07/04/2008, -8/+5I really like him and yes, he might be one of the best rappers
- alexology, on 07/04/2008, -5/+8Hell no.
- crazymaster16, on 07/04/2008, -3/+1He is good rapper, but no the best rapper !
- businessman2008, on 07/04/2008, -3/+1No. noway no. Snoop dogg is living legend. Pac is greatest rapper ever. Papoose is lyrically the best. But not Weezy!
He got that flow, delivery. but santana or snoop or cassidy touch me deeper. so not weezy.- ddawggin, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2You actually think Snoop Dogg is a better rapper than Weezy? Dre was the only reason Snoop was ever any good.
- mordea, on 07/05/2008, -0/+2Papoose? Grow up, boy. Ever heard of Rakim?
- GhostyBoy, on 07/04/2008, -3/+6Who started this stupid rumor?
The guy isn't even remotely good, let alone great and he can't even see the best from where he is standing on the island of suck. - SlavaPastuk, on 07/04/2008, -4/+8K, half of these people don't know what real rap is. The carter III is garbage? Why, because you didn't understand it? Come on, Nas and Jay-Z are good, Weezy is great, Snoop Dogg Eminem and Wale don't come close. You automattically dimiss Wayne because he's popular and mainstream, while you prefer underground ***** nobodies heard of. Mainstream doesn't equal garbage, and being unheard of doesn't make you God's gift to rap. lil' Wayne freestyles which in itself is a talent, assuming you've taken the time to listen to his stuff. The Carter III isn't a collection of songs, it's a collection of stories spoken by the greatest man to pick up the mic.
'Blind eyes can look at me and see the truth, wonder if Stevie do...' - Dwayne Carter - hwood, on 07/04/2008, -4/+6Immortal Technique is much much better.
- theshalit, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1point of no return is immeasurably strong
- kmotiv1, on 07/04/2008, -2/+4I'm sorry, but an album selling 1 million copies is horrible criteria for calling it good....
- thirdcoastborn, on 07/04/2008, -4/+3Tupac Shakur will always have the title as the best rapper of all time.
- t3hmyth, on 07/05/2008, -0/+2+1
- dstone51, on 07/04/2008, -2/+3Self-proclaimed "I am...the best rapper alive...and i will eat you alive". From the Carter III. He is up there as being one the greats.
- theshalit, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1with such a potent mastery of the ellipsis it's hard to imagine anyone questioning it.
- einrobstein, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1Plus, he rhymed 'alive' with 'alive'. How does he come up with that stuff?
- theshalit, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1with such a potent mastery of the ellipsis it's hard to imagine anyone questioning it.
- einrobstein, on 07/05/2008, -1/+1My fav. rappers: Jean Grae, Immortal Technique, Talib Kweli, Kool Keith, Shad K, MF Doom, Busdriver
I'm a white kid from Winnipeg who doesn't know anything about rap/hip-hop. If you're like me, check out these guys ^
None of you have probably heard anything from Shad. Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDQ49tLg5w0 - juliehardman, on 07/05/2008, -1/+1I would say Tupac is the best or maybe vanilla ice (that was a joke)
- fudged71, on 07/05/2008, -1/+1Flobots - No Handlebars
enough said? - MrHoopla, on 07/05/2008, -0/+2He sounds like a whiny bitch.
- Issomination, on 07/05/2008, -0/+2Lil' Wayne does not at ALL sound like Red Foxx or no body. His voice sounds like a constipated dude trying to rap. Even worse, my friends won't stop LISTENING to his stuff. In one of his songs he starts it off by saying he's a Venereal Disease... How are those good lyrics?!?!
- sonar1, on 07/05/2008, -0/+2best rapper alive is andre3000.

- arlynxyu, on 08/01/2008, -0/+0you nerds have no concept of the hip hop scene. He can't say he's the best because his career is just getting started? He's been rapping for like 15 years - Professionally. . You've just never heard of him until now, and yet somehow he's mainstream? And to all of the people replying "I would say Tupac is the best." Are you insane? Tupac isn't the best rapper alive. He's dead, and he's not even the best rapper who's dead. wtf? . Nas fell off a long time ago. Snoop too. Eminem hasn't had a good record in 8 years, doesn't write his own raps. Dre hasn't had album in 10 years. Jay-Z is barely a player and spends his time guesting, not to deny his talents, but the man is retired. And can any of you really name a Wayne song that came out before this summer? So how is he something you hear on the radio. He didn't sell a million albums in a week because he released a video on MTV a month earlier.. Don't lump him in with ***** southern crunk rap. Weezy is a beast. Just unstoppable. He doesn't even write ***** down, ever. He goes into the booth, freestyles that ***** off the top of his head, Puts out 5 mixtapes a year, each one of them being ***** rock solid. You indie rap snobs can go look up what pitchfork has to say about Lil' Wayne. His flow and inflection are so unique, he's not everything that's wrong with hip hop today. He's not even everything that's right about it. He's everything that's right about hip-hop tomorrow.
- jrfly9, on 08/14/2008, -0/+0To guy above me:
How can you honeslty say that Lil Wayne is better than Tupac?? Tupac, is in my opinion the greatest rapper (who knows if he is dead or alive btw, but lets not start that arguement). Please inform me how lil wayne is better. Is it just me or is everyone else tired of hearing Lil Wayne "freestyle" about how much he loves himself? It's getting a little old. Yea he is unique but best rapper ever, get the **** out of here.
Also, on the list of best rappers I would include Kayne, along with Eminem, Jay Z, etc.
