A Typical Bo Jackson Run On Tecmo Bowl [Video]
youtube.com — I can recall playing this game for hours on end. Christian Okoye of the Chiefs was just as raw.

- bluto36, on 07/02/2008, -1/+103overheard from my living in 1988;
bullsh*t if we are playing for money than nobody gets to be the raiders.- ssn697, on 07/02/2008, -8/+4I was more of a 4th and inches on my Amiga 2000 player. ***** LOVED that game. Two player, king of the hill style.
- canewediggit, on 07/03/2008, -0/+14fools. the key to winning in tecmo bowl was to pick the giants. lt could block the extra point every time, no other team had that.
- akatherder, on 07/03/2008, -0/+5Derrick Thomas was in the same position on the Chiefs.
- asskicker32, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1Chiefs in Tecmo Super Bowl.
- sukmydigg, on 07/03/2008, -0/+9Was it Lawrence Taylor that you blocked the kick with? Can't recall.
- rossmcd, on 07/03/2008, -13/+1I think it was Walter Payton
- Bedonder, on 07/03/2008, -0/+10Yes it was LT FTW.
- asskicker32, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1I could always get it with Howie Long too
- brandon215, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1Your right about the Raiders. They were the best team in Tecmo Bowl. There was one crossing route that you could throw to Tim Brown. You could basically do it every play and never be stopped. Although you were conisidered a sucker if you did it more than a couple times a game.
- tombonneau, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1The Roger Craig slant with the 49ers was also unstoppable.
- 1gunners4, on 07/03/2008, -1/+5How could you beat the Montana to Rice Hail Mary combo?!?
- XombieRobot, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2Also with the Raiders, you had Tim Brown returing kickoffs and punts, who was also unstoppable.
Other unfair teams:
49ers- Rice, Montana
Giants- LT, Simms
Lions- Barry Sanders
- Dean2k, on 07/02/2008, -3/+18Tecmo Bowl was the bomb back in the day! 8 whole plays to choose from... I loved it.

- shango5, on 07/03/2008, -0/+7Tecmo Bowl 4, Tecmo Super Bowl 8 which is why the latter was always my favorite.
- Dean2k, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2Oh crap! It was 4 wasn't it??? God, I'm getting old.

- ryrysofly, on 07/03/2008, -11/+3little known fact: he failed on the two-point conversion :(
- Chode2235, on 07/03/2008, -0/+12Youo cant even do the two point conversion in the game. It was not allowed by the NFL until the mid 90's
- KingGoonie, on 07/03/2008, -0/+15Lets not forget the other reason to pick the raiders... Howie Long's Diving Defense!!!!
Press B instantly after ball is hiked and you see Howie Long make a 10 yard dive for a sack.
Or taking Giants. for LT as someone said before for his running sacks and Carl Banks for his almost as good as Howie Long dives. - Kisama, on 07/03/2008, -0/+14Dude, pick New York and Lawrence Taylor their ass.
- PolishLogic, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1Singletary was almost as amazing in that game, as well.

- wilhoitm, on 07/03/2008, -0/+11I used to worship this game in college at the Univ. of MD. We used to set up tournaments, and record the games! We loved Bo!
- commiecat, on 07/03/2008, -0/+9Christian Okoye was in Tecmo Super Bowl. The original game didn't even have the Chiefs (or rather, Kansas City).
EDIT: YouTube is blocked here. Looks like the thumbnail is Tecmo Super Bowl but the title says Tecmo Bowl. I'm so confused. :(
Giants and Raiders were my favorites in the original (49ers close). TSB I played the Oilers (passing), Falcons (Deion) and Lions (Barry).- DteK, on 07/03/2008, -0/+3the Nigerian Nightmare was a beast. This guy was the most overrated player in football video game history. Get him on the sideline and it was over.
- commiecat, on 07/03/2008, -0/+6He was. And they also had Barry Word who wasn't bad, either. TSB had that thing where your players would get like + and - (or something like that) -- at any rate, when you had Okoye and he was all pumped, he'd run over anyone. When Barry was like that, he'd outrun anyone.
- maakdiggity, on 07/07/2008, -0/+0There's a similar Okoye video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_ddO5ENtus
"When Okoye is in "Good" or "Excellent" condition, the Colts defense is incapable of tackling him without diving. If they simply run into Okoye, they'll bounce right off of him. This is because Okoye is the strongest runner in the game, and the Colts defenders tend to be very weak hitters."
- DteK, on 07/03/2008, -0/+3the Nigerian Nightmare was a beast. This guy was the most overrated player in football video game history. Get him on the sideline and it was over.
- galvo, on 07/03/2008, -0/+10God I love games without variables.
- troyfoley, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1Tecmo Super Bowl has variables: Bo gets even better when in "excellent" condition.
- Zipko, on 07/03/2008, -1/+1What's even better is old slot machines didn't used to have 'variables' Some guys figured out that a particular brand of slots' RNG wasn't exactly random. They cleaned house knowing exactly when a jackpot would come up.
- Dycacian, on 07/03/2008, -4/+4War Eagle!!!
- rajun50, on 07/03/2008, -3/+3Roll Tide!!!!

- stupidStan, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1stupid team can't even decide on a single mascot...

- raisingkain8, on 07/03/2008, -1/+2and people say Devin Hester is good?
- kenvsryu, on 07/03/2008, -1/+14So much more fun than EA's Madden Series.
- XxtraLarGe, on 07/03/2008, -0/+4I used to love playing Tecmo Bowl too, and from what I've heard a new version of it is coming out for the Nintendo DS :-)
- SpoonDigg, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2you are corrrct sir...
- dennugsmello15, on 07/03/2008, -1/+4Where is the love for Chicago...... Payton and Singletary were pretty unstoppable.
- donquixote235, on 07/03/2008, -0/+51The Tecmo series was SO much better than Madden. We used to play full seasons against each other, and have a dime-per-game ante... at the end of the season, whoever won the superbowl won the pot. If nobody won, we'd roll it over into the next series.
My favorite team to play was the Eagles, with good old QB Eagles (aka Randall Cunningham) as the quarterback. He was a better RUNNING BACK than most of the regular RB's in the game.
It was always a nightmare however when your very first game of the season, on the very first play, your star player would get injured and you'd have to play out 3 or 4 games with your secondary, Crappy McWeakSauce. To this day when I see somebody in real life fall or otherwise get injured, I have the Tecmo Injury Theme playing silently in my mind.
Also, at about the time when Tecmo Super Bowl was out I worked as a sidekick on a radio morning show, and I got the job of sports announcer based entirely on the fact that I was a huge Tecmo fan. Hell, I never actually WATCHED football, I just played it on Tecmo. I actually did pretty good with my predictions; I would just have the two teams play each other on auto-skip about 6 or 7 times, and average the results and call that out on the air as my spread for the game.- asskicker32, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1Totally agree. The games when I would have to start Todd McNair were the games where I would use Steve DeBerg to Robb Thomas...
- god613, on 07/03/2008, -2/+2Barry was so much better.
- vsaint, on 07/03/2008, -0/+3This is one of the few games that makes me angry every time I play it. ***** YOU QB BILLS.
- XombieRobot, on 07/03/2008, -0/+3Jim Kelly.... Haha
- akatherder, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1It would have been more impressive if it wasn't against the Patriots. They sucked in that game.
- chadisawesome, on 07/03/2008, -1/+1I never understood why they had white guys (pink) and black guys (brown) but the chiefs and I think the redskins had actual black guys... like #000000 black. I know it was 8bit, but they were able to brown up the other 28 or so teams.
- jeffs3rd, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2Man I love Tecmo Bowl. I still play TSB for NES and SNES to this day.
Dammit, now I will have the background music in my head all day. - TBBucs, on 07/03/2008, -0/+5This reminds me of when I used to play NBA Live '99. Turn off fouls, turn of rules, turn on arcade mode, dunk my way to a 210-8 victory.
- cpovey, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1Those were definitely the days
- cobophers, on 07/03/2008, -1/+44READY DOWN HUT HUT HUT HUT HUT HUT HUT HUT HUT>>>>>>>

- fakeplasticsnow, on 07/03/2008, -0/+4Wow, great game. I can't wit until the new one comes out for DS: http://kotaku.com/5011541/tecmo-bowl-screens
- ganymede2010, on 07/03/2008, -0/+8Lawrence Taylor was unstoppable on that game. It was impossible to score a field goal against the Giants. Boy those were the days.
- longklaw, on 07/03/2008, -0/+7That just made my morning!
- steene01, on 07/03/2008, -0/+3Another guaranteed play in addition to those mentioned was being the 49ers and using Joe Montana, I think it was Right + B in the playbook for the flea flicker. End zone to end zone pass to Jerry Rice.
- phyx726, on 07/03/2008, -0/+7Bo Jackson was awesome. The only man who could have been an MVP in two different leagues. Stupid injury.
- asskicker32, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1Stupid Bengals.
- jondayz, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2This was before the days of class balance forum rants and wars I suppose. The Bo Jackson class should be nerfed.
- NytStalker, on 07/03/2008, -0/+4My team was NY Giants. Lawrence Taylor
But yea i liked the Chiefs too, - daimposter, on 07/03/2008, -0/+7i was waiting for Bo Jackson to be caught from behind on the 6 yrd line and suffere a broken pelvis.
what? too soon? - daimposter, on 07/03/2008, -0/+3btw, this is Tecmo SUPER Bowl.
This is the one I played as a kid. GREAT game. I was hooked on it more than any other sport game in my life. I'm old enough for Tecmo Bowl but never played it. - Joecrook, on 07/03/2008, -0/+27buried for being inaccurate. Not even an End zone can stop Bo Jackson.
- joshcarv, on 07/03/2008, -1/+2called back for holding...
- jyrus, on 07/03/2008, -1/+7player 2 sucks
- agomez2806, on 07/03/2008, -0/+0Did Bo really do that vs. the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football?
