- OiPunk, on 09/28/2008, -0/+0We did this on our college campus a few times.. unfortunately, it never caught on. I thought it was fun.
- codx999, on 09/28/2008, -0/+3I will now be moving to Newyork City and buying a ridiculously large super-soaker.
- disparue, on 09/28/2008, -0/+1That'll be inconspicuous.
- Zuggy, on 09/28/2008, -0/+2I'll just walk up behind you and pop 3 squirts in your head from my key ring squirt gun. Quick and you'll never see it coming
- codx999, on 09/28/2008, -0/+0Yes, but I could just go camping....
- guinpen, on 09/28/2008, -0/+6yesterday's frontpage :(
- Nintendesert, on 09/28/2008, -0/+5You can get shot dozens of times in New York for having a wallet, I can't imagine how many times you'd get shot for a water gun. Sign me up!
- Flashman, on 09/28/2008, -0/+1I won this at college. It's hard work hiding in cupboards for hours on end.
- hoisonsauce, on 09/28/2008, -0/+1We did this in high school 10 years ago.
- valkyrie123, on 09/28/2008, -0/+2It's freekin awesome until some brain dead subway cop thinks you have a real gun and shoots your dumb ass dead.
- iamjero, on 09/28/2008, -0/+1I heard about this ages ago. Good to hear its till going on, and well organized i might add.
Spice your dull lives up a bit. - JamienneNoell, on 09/28/2008, -1/+0The intenseness of this "game" is a little unnerving. I find it creepy that someone would join the game and allow themselves to be stalked through the internet and have a random person stake out their house. You don't know who these people are. I would be more inclined to join if I personally knew everyone who was involved. But then again, although risky, anonymity can be attractive. The game is extremely well organized and if that's what it takes for adults to have a little fun outside work and home, then so be it.
- UndeadOverlord, on 09/28/2008, -0/+1Where do I sign up??
- JCougar, on 09/28/2008, -0/+1This is GREAT!!! People have organized versions of this??? I had no idea, how do I get involved? My friends and I have been pulling these shenanigans for years!
- cuoops, on 09/28/2008, -0/+1Three dupes on the front page....ridiculous
- dafragsta, on 09/28/2008, -0/+2"The next target was a woman, and the hunting was a bit bumpier. 'My partner and I were parked down her block, and we got rolled up on by undercover narcotics officers,' Mr. Donellan said. 'They got out and shined their flashlights and asked us what we were doing. My partner said: ‘Just chilling. Well, actually, we’re stalking this girl.’ I just looked at him, like, ‘Really, man?’ And they were like, ‘What are you talking about?’ ' The players explained — 'We showed him our water guns, we showed him our IDs'f — and the officers left. His partner shot the woman outside the Cargo Cafe bar on Staten Island on Sept. 13."
.... rrrright.
That's a good way to get shot and I don't mean with water. - Commodore84, on 09/28/2008, -2/+6Hmmmmm, MakiMaki submitted the same article after this one, yet his went popular first and has 1100+ Diggs....

Totally original, I swear! (N/A if you're a top 10 Digger) - wowsah156, on 09/28/2008, -9/+1Reasons i have buried this:
1: Glamourising the state/federal murder of free citizens is NOT fun.
2: This article is childish and immature making out that its "FUN" TO MURDER AND KILL PEOPLE.
3:The term "wetworks " is used has a term for illegal death squads in the state already . So this idea of making this "fun" is just sick and immature.
BURIED. ***** the New York Times.- localzuk, on 09/28/2008, -0/+5Wow, lighten up!
- wowsah156, on 09/28/2008, -8/+1There nothing to "lighten up" about. Theres nothing "fun" about murder. Grow up.
- localzuk, on 09/28/2008, -0/+1Roll playing is a hobby engaged in by millions of people world wide. Just because this particular group uses water pistols and acts out assassinations doesn't make them any worse or better than those who use rubber axes and pretend to be from the middle ages.
What about those people who play computer games which involve killing? Do you disagree with them too?
- localzuk, on 09/28/2008, -0/+1Roll playing is a hobby engaged in by millions of people world wide. Just because this particular group uses water pistols and acts out assassinations doesn't make them any worse or better than those who use rubber axes and pretend to be from the middle ages.
- darkphenox, on 09/28/2008, -0/+4This is a game about finding a person, who agreed to this btw, and squirting them with a water gun, its not glamorizing the state/federal murder of free citizens, since your not killing people and everyone (except you) knows its in good fun its not making it "FUN" TO MURDER AND KILL PEOPLE (same thing really), and ok they used an inappropriate term big deal.
- JCougar, on 09/28/2008, -0/+2This isn't murder. It's role playing. Do you think attending an Agatha Christie murder mystery dinner party glamorizes murder and is immature? It sure as hell glamorizes murder. This game is a similar pretense involving audience participation but adds water guns and a longer timetable. Sounds like you forgot how to imagine.
- moxley, on 09/28/2008, -0/+1I'm thinking you probably have a problem with violent video games too.
I totally understand where you're coming from. In this day and age of fascism in America and with our own government supporting or behind death squads in cntrl america in the 80s and all sorts of other places it's pretty disgusting to think that anybody would. glamorize or support that.
However, I don't think a squirt gun tourney does that anymore than I think movies do it. Whether or not something is "Glamorized" is in the eye and mind of the beholder. What may seems to be glamorizing something to one person is likely to be an honest critque to another, and a fun way to experience the intensity of being hunted (without really being in danger) for another.
While assassination squads may be dirty, diosgusting business, squirt gun tourneys (regardless of what they are based on) are not.
But I do agree with your assessment of the New York Times.....With some exceptions that paper has become a piece of ***** in the past 10 to 15 years. - FLarsen, on 09/28/2008, -0/+1You must have had a fun childhood!
- compgeek, on 09/28/2008, -0/+1This looks like tons of fun. I hope they do a tourney in my area up on Canada soon. heck I might just try and get this going at the college campus I'm on lol
- moxley, on 09/28/2008, -0/+1This sounds like fun...
But how long before someone gets their brains blown out by one of "New York's Finest?"
"He had a gun he had a gun, as an officer I saw the gun pointed at me and a feared for my life." (and of course, you know, when that does happen that the cop will get a 30 day suspension with pay case clsoed). - spinladen, on 09/28/2008, -0/+1This game is way better when you play as spoon assassins.
- homer420032003, on 09/28/2008, -0/+1I like spooning...
- Lekio, on 09/28/2008, -0/+0Just don't pop out from behind something and mistakenly aim the water gun at a cop. I hear they have itchy fingers.
- r3m1x645, on 09/28/2008, -0/+1Not......the onion?
- supreme0armor, on 09/28/2008, -0/+1http://current.com/items/76370842_assassins
- VinnieDaMac, on 09/28/2008, -0/+1Sounds fun, but very nerve wrecking too.
- charliemehrer, on 09/29/2008, -0/+0buried for duplicate story.
