nice try at the internet, though - Akaji, on 05/17/2008, -0/+3Entitled is to give a name to something, titled is the given name.
So, past tense "entitled" and present tense "titled" are synonyms (both mean 'the name given to' something).

- thestranger, on 05/17/2008, -12/+16Emo's? The sweet music venue in Austin Texas?!? Emo who?!?! Phillips! Oh I love that guy. Oh, wait you meant "Emo", as in the overplayed out cliche about 15 year olds that wear tight pants and listen to bad music. People stop with the emo stuff, its annoying and neither parties know the first thing about actual emo music and emo kids. That stuff is so old. That word/ making fun of emo kids has been around for over a decade. Its not fresh, clever, or even correct use of the phrase.
What....make-up, black hair, crying, young kid, tight jeans; I'll just make a emo comment about any of those phrases regardless of whether it's used properly, use it as a verb, noun, adjective--whatever, and people WILL love it!- iliketokick, on 05/17/2008, -0/+6Emo's in Austin is the jam.
- D14BL0, on 05/17/2008, -0/+1Hell yes. Caught Blind Guardian playing there a couple years back. Great venue.
- roomforpanic, on 05/17/2008, -4/+12Don't cry emo kid.
- creep303, on 05/17/2008, -6/+2I love you thestranger!
- nubbz51, on 05/17/2008, -2/+9All this negative talk about emos is really making me depressed, I think im going to cut myself and then show all my family and friends for attention now.
- thestranger, on 05/17/2008, -9/+2Yea, cause typecasting young adults with serious mental problems is definitely a good thing to do. Knock off all this stereotype BS. I never thought the internet community would welcome empty misinformed bullying with such open arms and enthusiasm.
- fejai, on 05/17/2008, -5/+3I find it hilarious that after it's been discussed that typical emo jokes are overplayed, cliché, far from clever, and genuinely not funny that you make one yourself. Lame.
- quiggibub, on 05/17/2008, -2/+3Be careful not to get blood on your sisters jeans, or she'll beat the ***** out of you. You might also have to wash the minivan as punishment.
- thestranger, on 05/18/2008, -0/+2Why am I getting so dugg down for this!?! Read the definitions of stereotype, typecasting, and bullying and they all fit the internet trend towards "emo" kids. As for the mental health comment; regardless of what people decided what their motives are (attention, to look cool, whatever), teens who talking about suicide, cutting, and depression are not things to joke around about or make fun of, or downplay.
- thestranger, on 05/18/2008, -0/+2Be careful not to get blood on your sisters jeans, or she'll beat the ***** out of you. You might also have to wash the minivan as punishment.
wow! I don't wear girl's jeans. I live with my girlfriend, and my family has never owned a minivan. Wow way to prove my point about stereotypes and bullying. I make a stand for something that I see is destructive, unfair, and unhealthy and a get labeled as an "emo kid" or and "emo-kid lover". Hmmm, sounds like bullying: Defenders of groups/people are often accused of being just like group/person X or having a bias "love" or "infatuation" with person x/group x.
- iliketokick, on 05/17/2008, -0/+6Emo's in Austin is the jam.
- franklymister, on 05/17/2008, -3/+22The title already makes the "makeup" mines joke. There's no apostrophe needed to pluralize a word. Just saying "emo" isn't witty, it's boring and old.
- Pilot85, on 05/17/2008, -1/+3int4rw3b chatter replaces basic English grammar skills. I weep for the language.
- thestranger, on 05/17/2008, -1/+8Wow! there's at least 44 people on digg that were like, "haha make-up! it's emo's! classic..........."

- ShinyDemon, on 05/17/2008, -1/+1While you raise a good point, open-air "mines" do exist; think of the huge bucket wheel mining machines.
- itsgotyou, on 05/17/2008, -0/+1The reason I would refer to the image as make-up fields or farms rather than a mine is that mines are not laid out in a fixed design. They are scattered sporadically with no discernible patterns, otherwise people with a rudimentary understanding of geometry would be starting up their own mining companies and thrive.
Thank you for pointing out the bucket wheel excavator machines tho, it made me look it up and from it learned that mining can also be done on the surface of the Earth not just in it.- ShinyDemon, on 05/17/2008, -0/+1Another good point. I suppose mining does usually involve small amounts of the desired substance mixed in with a lot of waste material over a large area, even if on the surface.
And the knowledge about bucket wheels comes from my excessive watching of the Discovery Channel :)

The bacteria present as the salt is dried vary by color, and as you zoom the above map you can actually see that at higher zoom levels the salt gets drier/more concentrated and the area changes color.

Some of the stuff i understand if it happens in your street etc.. but this satellite pic is in the middle of nowhere.. lol. many thanks though for giving me laughs!
- vandy, on 05/17/2008, -26/+148it's a reddit article from yesterday
- BrendanSheehan, on 05/17/2008, -15/+1Haha, so ture!
- sardiax, on 05/17/2008, -0/+52so how did they find it? i mean at some point somebody must've browsed google maps in that area to find this and then shared it.
- tacojohn48, on 05/17/2008, -1/+4It would be my guess that someone who knew where this was looked it up on there, not that they found it randomly
- crossmr, on 05/17/2008, -22/+22He doesn't.. he finds it on other websites, he does no leg work himself.
Yet people are all to happy to reward him for it.- minorthreat, on 05/17/2008, -3/+15sad that you feel like your being rewarded when someone diggs your article..... you must have not gotten much attention as a child
- crossmr, on 05/17/2008, -3/+6Someone who builds up the ability to pretty much front page anything can sell that service. Don't be so short-sighted.
- lennybird, on 05/17/2008, -0/+4Zoom out some and look to the east. I can see why this would get noticed...
...As for the boob flasher... - OnlyShawn, on 05/17/2008, -6/+1yeah...i know it's promoting my own submission, but it was so damned funny...

These sites do the legwork, with Google Maps you can change the coords slightly and submit it as a new link. - Zera, on 05/17/2008, -1/+11Its very simple how people find this stuff. There are millions of people who use Google Earth, street view, etc. When someone finds something hilarious, they send it to 10 friends, who sends it to 10 friends, one of whom submits it to some social news system.
It's simple statistics. Millions of eyes, with the ability and demand to find and spread the weird stuff.

- AdmiralZombie, on 05/17/2008, -41/+63Yeah as I've said several times, I don't really care when people grab stuff from reddit, but can you at least come up with an original name, and not blatantly steal the headline from reddit?
http://reddit.com/info/6jn0k/comments/
Really, stop ripping of the names, and come up with an original title of your own.- bcerz811, on 05/17/2008, -19/+14not everyone looks at both reddit and digg. so get over it.
- AdmiralZombie, on 05/17/2008, -1/+5How is this relevant exactly? My point is the guy simply copied and pasted the title, not that its on both.
- EthylAdded, on 05/17/2008, -4/+26"Oh, look! Rounded Rectangles in Peru!" ... no, that won't work.
"From the Sky it Looks like a Makeup kit!" ... no, lame.
"Obama Rewls! ... maybe.
"God's Blush Kit. If God were a Transvestite!" ... close.
"Giant Makeup Mines of Peru! ... perfect! Wait...
oh f*ck it.- djk21108, on 05/17/2008, -0/+1Win!
- AdmiralZombie, on 05/17/2008, -6/+4Its not that, he literally copy and pasted the title, and simply replaced (google maps) with (pics)
Thats what bothers me. He could of done "makeup mines of peru" or something, but he didn't, he copy and pasted the title- MrMil, on 05/17/2008, -0/+1Stop being such a pud.
- four444, on 05/17/2008, -0/+3Stfu already. YOU sound more like your name should be "mrbabyman" ..making a big deal over the stupidest things.

- daizaru, on 05/18/2008, -0/+1Seriously, if you read both Reddit and Digg you can expect some cross contamination. I actually prefer identical titles because I can go "Oh, I saw that already" because on Digg links I've already seen don't always change color unitl I've seen them through digg.
- kevinsboy, on 05/17/2008, -6/+2Complaining on a level like this is just rediculous
- melonade, on 05/18/2008, -0/+1Not knowing how to spell "ridiculous" is ridiculous.

- aflaks, on 05/18/2008, -0/+2just because waste is "toxic" it doesnt mean it comes in weird colors.
- Reeze101, on 05/17/2008, -7/+1even if its a farm or something why The ***** WOULD THEY ALL BE DIFFERENT COLORS?
- arobar, on 05/17/2008, -0/+4You don't think it's possible that different crops would be different colours? Look at the food you eat sometime. If everything you eat is the same colour, look for a different grocer.
- timbro1, on 05/17/2008, -15/+4this was on reddit a few days ago... you guys are slow here...

- patrflav, on 05/17/2008, -3/+10No, if your Digg username is MrBabyMan you automatically make front page. Otherwise it's a 10% chance, even if you submit something worthy of the top 10.

Who cares if the story was on Reddit first? Is this a competition? Isn't the point of the internet to share information? What's the big deal?!?
Thank you, MrBabyMan, for sharing these stories. I never look at Reddit, so I appreciate the information sharing.
This Digg vs. Reddit stuff is ridiculous. Get upset about something meaningful...go donate money or something.- Xcel, on 05/17/2008, -0/+30Exactly, I don't go to Reddit so this is new to me and I appreciate the bridging of information between the two.
- quiggibub, on 05/17/2008, -1/+4If these people can't be outraged over meaningless things, they'd have more time to realize what a pathetic life they have. There's nothing more sad than a crying computer nerd.
- jamonterrell, on 05/17/2008, -4/+0In the future, if you miss a story on digg and reddit, I suggest you try slashdot. The folks over at slashdot are nice enough to serve as off site storage for digg and reddit, but it takes about a week to get moved over to the backups.
