For those who don't know what it is, it's an RPG by CD Projekt using Bioware's Aurora engine and is based on the book series of the same name. According to Wikipedia, the game comes out the 26th of October in Europe, and 4 days later in the United States.

      But...
      Ages of Empires...Hell Gate...Call of Duty...Empire Earth...Gears of War...FEAR...etc... All snoozers.

      I'm NOT a xbox 360 fanboy, but without a doubt all the real games of real interest are really going to be on the 360.

      At least, I'd rather sit on my couch these days and game than in my PC seat so much (though it is a great PC seat).

        Second, you can play the PC on the TV too.

    • MagicCake, on 10/23/2007, -1/+9Getting a high end gaming rig for under $1500 is definitely do-able. The Intel E6550 and Nvidia 8800 GTS are examples of good low-cost hardware.
      • iofthestorm, on 10/23/2007, -1/+2Yeah, I got a machine that is definitely capable of running those things at over 40fps for $900. A decent graphics card is all you really need, skimp on everything else or buy AMD and get pretty good processors for really cheap. I got the RadeonHD 2900Pro, which is basically a slightly downclocked XT for $280, although those don't exist any more.

      That's $1500 for the top of the line PC you can get now and here (anything more is overkill and -hence- uneccessarry to your final experience, anything less is just not top of the line)





      And if you're really hardcore about your money

      $200 8800GTS (w mail in rebate)
      $200 Q6600 (there are some mad ones that are actually giving it you that low)
      $70 The cheapest P35 you can find
      $20 A crappy tower
      $40 The cheapest 600W PSu you can find
      $60 320GB HDD
      $30 2gig DDR2 (yeah you can find it as low if you search for it hard enough)
      $20 generic KB&mouse
      $20 DVDRW
      $0 Use your HD TV as monitor
      $0 Use your TV's sound system
      $0 Use your old copy of Windows (or better yet pirate it, arrrrr)

      That's a total $660 for the exact same thing. So, you can have a top tier PC for as low as $660 and -of course- it will be able to play Crysis on its highest and anything that comes out the next two years on high....

      Don't get me wrong, I do actually love the multiplayer (even more so than Halo 2), but nothing is more infuriating than having your movement restricted by bushes and small rocks.

    Anyways, I get dizzy everything I play an FPS for more than 15 minutes, so I'll probably be looking forward to Hellgate London, Spore, and the next Total War game. Oh, and Starcraft II ofc.
    • rowmz, on 10/23/2007, -1/+2if you play either of the Hunter classes, and I'm pretty sure the Cabalist's are the same way (I haven't played them for too long), the gameplay is just like an FPS. You can go third person, if that helps the dizziness, but it's definitely harder to play

        and yes, if you have a high end rig, crysis is gonna make the best of console games look like pong.

    Universe at War: Earth Assault , from the Petroglyph which came from members of the legendary (and now defunct) Westwood Studios
    and
    The Witcher: an innovative RPG with both great graphics and an engaging plot where your moral compass would be the absolute determent factor of what'll happen on its (open) gameworld (not just canned good/evil decisions that so many rpgs before it had (KOTOR) of which only the plot was determined). In the witcher you'll indeed experience the butterfly effect of your actions.....

    Apart from these a great list nonetheless which shows who was and still is the king of gaming.

      I've been looking forward to Hellgate for a while too, but from what i've tried out in the demo, there still needs to be a lot of polish, and a lot of the game just seems unsatisfactory. The weapons and their sounds are way out of sync, the animations seem unfinished, and well... I was disappointed to say the least.

But yes I did notice a bit of wackiness with some of the animations although it still didn't dissuade me from buying it. Even though the demo was tiny it still hooked me. Almost reminded me of the Diablo 1 demo, they gave you just a tiny tease of what the full game would be like and hooked you. They did the same thing to me with the Hellgate demo.
