- namtellum, on 07/15/2008, -4/+69Microsoft copied Sony by making a gaming console. Everyone copies everything, get a life.

/yes, I dipped in for a taste - norman619, on 07/16/2008, -2/+5Actually Sony copied Atari. To be honest they ALL copied Atari. Sony did not come up with the idea of a game console. Nice try tho.
- stageidea, on 07/16/2008, -0/+5Magnavox Odyssey was the first gaming console... So I don't think it really matters who invented the console at this point...

- WhereAmI, on 07/15/2008, -2/+18I thought downloadable content was the future and PS3 will fail miserably because they don't have it and only Blu-Ray.
Now we have both.
Also: iTunes?- norman619, on 07/16/2008, -1/+5Netflix anyone? I miss the days of when a game console was really a game console. Much like how MTV used to be about music.

Downloadable/ streaming video over the internet is going to happen whether the American ISPs like it or not. Sooner or later they're going to have to catch up to Europe and Asia or the US will be stuck in the internet dark ages.
In a lot of countries its possible right now. - staticneuron, on 07/16/2008, -1/+1I was about to sign up for a netflix account when I found out that streaming movies would only be in SD.

- kingpowrie, on 07/16/2008, -1/+6why wouldn't you?
i guess they will be in full HD- superkendall, on 07/16/2008, -4/+7720p is not "full" HD if you have a good set.
- norman619, on 07/16/2008, -5/+10Wow how dare you speak common sense to fanboys...
- altgeeky1, on 07/16/2008, -0/+8Rental by mail is convenient ONLY when compared to getting in your car and going to a junky video store.
"on demand" is much more convenient than mail.
I think you knew this, but compulsively posted your question anyways. The answer is that obvious..- KMartSheriff, on 07/16/2008, -1/+2I still like Blockbuster Online's way of turning in movies you get in the mail into the store and swapping them out for a free rental. They're much better for dates. Yeah yeah, I know, Blockbuster is hated mostly among fanboys around here, but I really like them (and most people don't have a setup that allows them to stream movies to their TV).
- altgeeky1, on 07/16/2008, -2/+1KMartSheriff: Agreed. She probably doesn't want to use a controller to browse movie aisles.
Also, if you start co-ordinating your Netflix rentals with your date, she's probably more than a date.
And I'm not sure who gets more bashing on Digg: Sony vs. Blockbuster. Things have died down on the Sony bashing front (most CAN'T WAIT for the XB360 Blu-Ray add on!) but there's a few Microsoft stragglers here bashing the "Sony monopolies".. - cubbiesx, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1On demand isn't convenient unless the content is of high quality. HBO on demand is instant and still I won't use it because it looks like ass on my telelvision.
- superkendall, on 07/16/2008, -0/+5I might download every now and then, but agree that almost always I would chose to wait a day for Blu-Ray and get higher quality along with extras, rather than pay quite a bit to download a rental.
- bloodomen13, on 07/16/2008, -1/+2I download movies on my 360 sometimes because the blu ray is a "long wait" on netflix and the b&m rental shop has no copies in stock. I'm impatient when I wanna watch a particular movie.
I just hope that there is a difference in the selection between the 360 and PS3. I'm interested in seeing the set up. - jedinate, on 07/16/2008, -0/+2Occasionally I'll download a movie from Amazon Unbox to my TiVo. It's nice to be able to order, online, from work, and when I get home it's downloaded and ready to go. Good for the days I'm waiting for a Netflix that's in the mail.
- kingpowrie, on 07/16/2008, -1/+6why wouldn't you?
- kingpowrie, on 07/16/2008, -6/+1is it there yet?

- smacksaw, on 07/16/2008, -14/+16Coming soon: Comcast and AT&T ban PS3s from their networks due to potential copyright violations...oh, and the fact consumers use their pipelines to download on their PS3 instead of their cable box...
- roflsd, on 07/16/2008, -1/+6That makes no sense at all.

- B1663r, on 07/16/2008, -11/+4What is it with Apple fanboys using the word douche over the last two weeks? The term fell out of re-popular use like two years ago when Janeane Garofalo left AAR....
Also there is this consistent Apple fanboy meme to use it incorrectly... the insult is DOUCHE BAG. - MrFisty, on 07/16/2008, -4/+2B1663r, stop being a douche bag.

- Terrk, on 07/16/2008, -3/+12You still have to pay per download.
I enjoy paying a monthly fee and being able to watch as many movies as I want, that is what they really need.- sockpuppets, on 07/16/2008, -6/+4Well when they engineered this service they totally did it with you, and only you, in mind.
- exomni, on 07/16/2008, -1/+5Netlflix has been around since 1997...
- KMye, on 07/16/2008, -3/+2Yeah, I took a quick look through the store yesterday; they expect you to pay $15 for standard def purchase, $4.50 for an HD rental, and $2 for 12 minutes of ATHF. ***** you, Sony, I'm sticking with Netflix and Joox, etc. for the time being. Pricing like that encourages piracy...
- Gamoc, on 07/17/2008, -0/+0...Depends on the film. And $15, about £7.50, is cheaper than a DVD.
- volacide, on 07/18/2008, -1/+1Who's going to be purchasing movies that frequently and storing them on their hard drive? If a movie warrants a buy, buy it and own it physically. I find it much more satisfying as well. But it's cool to be able to rent movies for the same price as a brick and mortar store and not have to waste gas going to said store AND being able to download that movie immediately and watch it that day.
- username9000, on 07/16/2008, -17/+6Sony isn't allowing purchase of HD material (only rental). I wonder why? Oh yeah, they want to make sure Bluray doesn't die.
- paterade724, on 07/16/2008, -3/+6Um, correct me if I am wrong but, the blue-ray basically won out over a month or 2 ago. Industry that supports HD will start moving to blue-ray format if they already have not by now.
- nickert0n, on 07/16/2008, -3/+3What he means is people are not seeing the advantadges in migrating from DVD's themselves to blueray. Especially in the state of the U.S. economy most people cant afford to. So his point is valid, Sony will want to do everything it can to keep the format it attains royalties over selling.
- superkendall, on 07/16/2008, -4/+2That's not what he means at all. In fact many people are migrating, a movie on disc (any disc) is something you can watch in your house again and again, whereas after you pay for a rental it is gone. That's why downloads will simply never overtake physical media, or at least not replace them.
- IllBeBack, on 07/16/2008, -2/+3Blu-Ray is an HD format. "HD" does not equal "HD-DVD".
And, it's not "blue-ray".
- soundsofreason, on 07/16/2008, -1/+3Have you seen the Blu-ray section at Best Buy lately? It fills an entire isle now and is getting bigger everytime I go back.
- sugarazor, on 07/16/2008, -1/+2Gee, I wonder if it could be that they're trying to sell them? The numbers don't agree with your anecdotal evidence... consumers are not supporting Blu-ray. I'm not hating on Sony, these are just facts, people (for now) are content with DVD.
- Gamoc, on 07/17/2008, -2/+0sugarazor, you're an ass. Blu-ray adoption has been quicker than DVD was, so stick your 'numbers' up your ass.
- altgeeky1, on 07/16/2008, -1/+4The high-def format war is SO OVER, dude..
OMG... looking at your profile... EVERY ONE of your posts is a PS3-bashing comment. Your "other console" must be THAT good you don't play, huh?- username9000, on 07/16/2008, -1/+1I have a 60 gig PS3, a 360 and a Wii. The PS3 was used to play Ratchet, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, Hot Shots Golf and I am playing MGS4 now. Basically the PS3 is for PS3 exclusives only, as 3rd party games suck on it (because PSN sucks compared to xbox live.)
The reason I rip on the PS3 is because its deserves to be ripped on. There was nothing I wanted more than a great announcement at E3 yesterday from Sony. Other than GOW3 (which everyone knew was coming....by 2010), there was nothing. Massive Action Game looks intriguing, but I will hold my expectations in check until I see some actual in game footage. Killzone 2 has managed to intrigue me again, because it does look amazing...but its not worth buying the system for. - spin164, on 07/16/2008, -1/+0Now all you need is a LIFE!

- bloodomen13, on 07/16/2008, -0/+1I love blu ray movies... if the studio actually went through the trouble to make it worth my money (Bladerunner is how you make a 25 year old movie look incredible in high def).

you are just as bad

- B1663r, on 07/16/2008, -6/+1Actually, this looks like basically the exact same service that is on the xbox, in which case you probably wont be using more than a couple gig at a time to store movies. The tv shows, which you purchase rather than rent, you just delete when you are done watching, then download them again later on if you want to watch them again... 40 gig should be more than enough.
- sonicjosh, on 07/16/2008, -0/+6But there is one key advantage if you own a PSP, take your movies with you.
- B1663r, on 07/16/2008, -4/+2Only if you purchase the $15 version of the movie...
- 9966, on 07/16/2008, -1/+0@B1663r
I'm sure we'll *never* find a way to get rentals permanently. - B1663r, on 07/16/2008, -3/+19966,
You need a component video capture card(google "component video capture" to find several products), then just use the application that comes with your component video capture card and use WME on top of that. On a 4 core computer I can make perfect copies of a HD component video stream. Then I use Vegas Video Pro (you can use whatever you want...) to down sample them to the SD resolution videos for use on youtube or whatnot.
However I don't have the whole nerd pack-rat-itis thing going on, I don't have the obsessive compulsive need to store a copy of every video I ever watch forever. Generally, most movies I can watch once, the really great movies I can watch two maybe three times over several years.
So the whole permanent storage issue isn't a problem for me.
On the other hand, OCD personality disorders can be a real bitch, I am sorry you suffer from them, have you tried drugs from your doctor yet? - Tahiri, on 07/17/2008, -1/+1360 is rental only, 360 only

- GregFD3S, on 07/16/2008, -9/+22HD + Cheaper than Netflix on Xbox == w00t!
- bloodomen13, on 07/16/2008, -2/+6depends on how many movies you watch.
- acevoncash, on 07/16/2008, -0/+12yeah how do you figure its cheaper... ones subscription is pay per play. apples and oranges.
- mt3ch, on 07/16/2008, -0/+6Inaccurate. Sony's pricing structure is nearly identical to Microsoft's already in place video marketplace. Both services offer a $3-6 price range for SD-HD movies. And as for netflix, it can easily be cheaper if you watch enough movies. For $50 dollars a year + $9 a month, which comes out to roughly $13 dollars a month, you have access to netflix - and many already have a netflix account. Just stating the facts.
- staticneuron, on 07/16/2008, -2/+3Netflix on 360 is only SD. The concept of owning a netflix account already vs not having one is mute. I have both systems and the PS3 got the better shake. If Netflix were to stream HD I would sign up for an account on friday.
- EtherGnat, on 07/16/2008, -3/+2"...is mute"
I can't take it anymore. I keep seeing this on Digg lately. It's moot, MOOT! GAAAAH!
Sorry, apparently I forgot to take my medication. At least I get to find out if I can bury myself with the new comment system. As you were.
Edit: Nope, I still can't bury myself. - razor150, on 07/16/2008, -3/+2You own a 360 but forget about Video Marketplace when making the comparison? Which btw is exactly the same as what Sony is now offering and has hundreds of HD movies for rental right now for the same prices. Something tells me you aren't being honest. In threads like these you can easily tell the difference between those who own and don't own a console.
- Tahiri, on 07/17/2008, -5/+1360 is rental only, 360 only

Its not the same thing fantroll - razor150, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2I own both consoles moron. I know you have the option to buy, but it is obvious that a lot of the morons posting here only want to compare the Netflix deal to the new PS3 offering while completely forgetting about Market Place.
- EtherGnat, on 07/16/2008, -3/+2"...is mute"
- razor150, on 07/16/2008, -3/+2Look into the 360s Video Marketplace that works with Silver Accounts and then realize how idiotic you just sounded.
the only different between Market Place and Sony's offering is that you can buy movies and not just rent them. Which is nice. - phinn, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2Xbox's Netflix is a joke, it's standard def only? lol. For $9 a month Netflix account I get unlimited Blu-ray movies to watch on the PS3. Much better deal, once you watch a Blu-ray and you get a deal like that whats the point in going back... Sure streaming Netflix too would be an added bonus, but I can always reboot my PS3 into Linux for that, or stream them from a computer to the ps3.
- razor150, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1It's not a separate charge. If you have a Netflix account you will be able to stream to your 360. Why is people have so much trouble understanding this?
- cerealjynx, on 07/16/2008, -1/+8Or you can download the movies and sync your PS3 to your computer!
Theoretically.- NCg8r, on 07/16/2008, -2/+1Done! Love it. I will never pay for the right to wait on PSN to upload the movie to me for a few hours.
- nurall, on 07/16/2008, -0/+2this is the best use of a ps3, well at least mine. :-)

- MJG2007, on 07/16/2008, -2/+29All in all, I'm very pleased with my PS3 purchase. I can stream movies and audio from my computer into my living room, browse the internet (I hooked up a wireless keyboard and mouse I had laying around), watch bluray movies/dvd, and play video games (although honestly, I don't play as much as I used to). And now this. A very nice machine with very good capabilities for the price.
- Elshar, on 07/16/2008, -1/+1Really? What did you use to watch movies on your PS3? I'm assuming you mean with linux installed on it. I tried with both Ubuntu and SUSE using VLC to play mpg's off the hard drive (Can't remember the exact encoding, but it wasn't very heavy) and it was worse than playing them on an old mac cube I had sitting around.
I've since given up on doing anything with linux on the ps3, it's pretty useless other than as a fun geek thing to do on a lazy day. :P- MJG2007, on 07/17/2008, -0/+5I stream them using a program called TVersity which allows me to stream all kinds of content to my ps3 from my main computer. No Linux required.
- Gamoc, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1How about DivX through the XMB? Did you not try that? Because I did, along with the TVersity thing too. Both work rather well, though I prefer having the movie actually on the PS3.

- alpha94, on 07/16/2008, -3/+3The method of downloading from PB and streaming it through TVersity have been working fine for me for months.
- skidme, on 07/16/2008, -1/+2Yarr, matey ;)
- grantmoore3d, on 07/16/2008, -5/+3This is awesome, but judging by the image the selection is going to be rather poor in the beginning.
- sugarazor, on 07/16/2008, -1/+1It's for video game players, what do you expect?
GUNS! BOOBIES! BOOBIES WITH GUNS!

***** sony- BearinG, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1I've never downloaded from the 360 but isn't it available to Canada also?
I know most big US tv stations have their shows for free on their websites but we can never access em here
- BearinG, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1I've never downloaded from the 360 but isn't it available to Canada also?
- exomni, on 07/16/2008, -6/+24$3-$6 for a RENTAL? $10-$15 for a DOWNLOAD? Are these people out of their ***** minds?
I'll pass.- onlyclave, on 07/16/2008, -5/+6That's totally in line with traditional pricing.
Don't think that because you're getting packets over a wire it should be so much cheaper.- exomni, on 07/16/2008, -6/+10I pay $9 a month for Netflix.
Say I rent four movies a month average. That's $2.25 a pop.
Plus I get unlimited time to view my videos, I get to watch them as many times as I want, I get all the extras and bonus features, I get it in much higher quality, with a wider selection, and I get instant streaming to my Roku box, my computer, or my Xbox 360. Not to mention access to a great community website full of fantastic features.
I don't see how the 260% jump in price justifies itself when the service is obviously inferior. - KMartSheriff, on 07/16/2008, -2/+13No, sorry, ***** that. If I'm going to pay $15 for one movie, I'll want the box and everything else with it.
- phinn, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1Netflix is an awesome deal, its $8.99 a month for unlimited movies, that includes Blu-rays, nothing beats watching Blu-ray on the PS3 for movies =)
- exomni, on 07/16/2008, -6/+10I pay $9 a month for Netflix.
- NCg8r, on 07/16/2008, -1/+1Traditional Pricing is a joke, and I'm not laughing. The cows have fled the barn. Their $2 lock ($6 for a lock with HD!) on the barn door is too late.
- untzboy, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1Dude, that's cheaper than my local Blockbuster. It's 10 or so for rentification. Furthermore, nearly every movie in stock is a 2-day rental.
- onlyclave, on 07/16/2008, -5/+6That's totally in line with traditional pricing.
- synchestric, on 07/16/2008, -10/+3This would be more useful if I could download stuff faster than 5KB/s from the PSN Store.
- darkervisions, on 07/16/2008, -0/+16Time to upgrade from 56k.
- synchestric, on 07/16/2008, -3/+1No really, the PSN store is that slow... and I have 16Mbit/s cable.
- knowitman, on 07/16/2008, -0/+2It took me less then a minute to download a 70MB file from the PSN store. It's not slow.
- BearinG, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1I did find the PSN to be slow also.. just updates and such.. maybe its just slow in certain areas..
everything else is fast (or as fast as can be).. maybe its the canadian servers..
- Gamoc, on 07/17/2008, -1/+2I downloaded the new LittleBigPlanet trailer ,which was around 260mb in about 3 minutes last night. So you're wrong AND stupid. Congratulations, you're an idiot.
- synchestric, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1How a technical problem that I have with my PS3 and you don't makes me wrong, stupid and an idiot is completely beyond any comprehension.
You are the idiot here. - Gamoc, on 08/03/2008, -0/+1A technical problem? You never even mentioned that...and you said 'the PSN is just that slow' before sprouting something about your LAN cable, which made no sense.
So the idiocy is still yours.
- synchestric, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1How a technical problem that I have with my PS3 and you don't makes me wrong, stupid and an idiot is completely beyond any comprehension.
- cnot3, on 07/16/2008, -5/+5Bittorrent + streaming to the PS3 is still the way to go, but Sony has to have this service to compete with Microsoft.
- soot, on 07/16/2008, -3/+2So does anyone know how many titles will be available at launch?
- mywhitenoise, on 07/16/2008, -0/+2Just look in the store.
Surprisingly there's a ton of content, it'd be nice if they did that for the PS Store.
- mywhitenoise, on 07/16/2008, -0/+2Just look in the store.
- Ramenhood, on 07/16/2008, -1/+17Who in the ***** would buy movies for the same price you can get them at the store, only you won't get to have the case and the actual disk.
- acevoncash, on 07/16/2008, -0/+9also no special features. and most possibly lower res / more compression.
- B1663r, on 07/16/2008, -2/+1The HD version is noticeably nicer than a plain old DVD version, but I don't know about Blu-ray because I only have a 720p TV...
Still, I rent the SD versions, because I don't think HD is worth the extra money or time, but YMMV... - BearinG, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1Obviously, you are sitting too far from your TV if you can't tell a difference even with 720p...
- B1663r, on 07/16/2008, -2/+1The HD version is noticeably nicer than a plain old DVD version, but I don't know about Blu-ray because I only have a 720p TV...
- KMartSheriff, on 07/16/2008, -0/+6Yeah, I don't get it either. I mean I want digital downloads to be awesome, but they way they're being offered right now, they're just not (no matter who you buy it from).
- BearinG, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1I'm putting my money on the video on demand service with my cable company.. not the cheapest but definitely the fastest (instant really).. I'm sure the quality varies a bit but i think it'll be the best option later on since they all have their infrastructures and fast connection (definitely faster than the Internet)
- Zamfir, on 07/16/2008, -1/+1I'll only be downloading TV shows... movies are best experienced (rent or buy) on physical media (BD).
- 298th_Scat, on 07/19/2008, -0/+1Why would you pay 1.99 for a TV show that you can get in HD over the air for free? 1.99??
they should offer a local tv show subscription model.. at least 60% of the people using this service already have cable so why pay for something twice that is already free?
- 298th_Scat, on 07/19/2008, -0/+1Why would you pay 1.99 for a TV show that you can get in HD over the air for free? 1.99??
- acevoncash, on 07/16/2008, -0/+9also no special features. and most possibly lower res / more compression.
- Malarie, on 07/16/2008, -0/+11When is this coming out in Canada?
- brokenworlds, on 07/16/2008, -0/+3Anyone know when it will be released in the uk?, been looking but cant find any info.
- GodsDragon, on 07/16/2008, -1/+12Does this work in Canada?
if( answer = "yes"){
woot;
}else{
peanuts;
}- Zamfir, on 07/16/2008, -0/+4Nope... you have to create a US account, and then proxy your IP so you appear to be coming from the US. Then you'll need to pay for content using a US credit card. I find this unacceptable...
- heysuburbia, on 07/16/2008, -0/+3I believe it's "==" not "=" and the print out = "peanuts"
- GodsDragon, on 07/16/2008, -0/+2lol you are correct I was just typing it out the fast and lazy way :P
- SOS84, on 07/16/2008, -7/+9Wow, any reason to buy a PS3, and it works with the PSP. Most projections have the PS3 passing the 360 in world wide install base by the middle of next year and in the US by the end of 09. This may speed it up. Throw in the fact that the 360 has but a couple of exclusives coming out in the next year and the fact that the 360 has peaked and the choice is obvious. The PS 3 is just now coming into its own and has a die shrink in its future which should go with a nice price reduction and the choice is obvious.
- stageidea, on 07/16/2008, -2/+2Don't understand your comments... How is the PS3 game line up any better than the 360. I don't see that many exclusives coming out for their console either.... Don't see how adding functionality that the PS3 should of had at launch would drive more console sales.
- SOS84, on 07/16/2008, -4/+4Well, for starters the multi console games are starting to look better on the PS3 than the 360 because developers are finally putting effort into them. The Sony exclusives blow away the 360's, the PS3 potential is starting to hit its stride whereas the 360 peaked a year ago meaning the graphics, physics and AI can be taken to the next level and finally, and lastly withe the dreaded RROD making its way to the newer XBoxs, the PS3 is a slam dunk. It is reliable, gives you all the extras you could ever want including soon to be DVR functionality, and will (very) soon have a better catalog of games. Did I mention that it won't break?
- razor150, on 07/17/2008, -2/+1Fanboy much? You have no clue about what is coming to the 360.
I own both consoles, btw. The 360 for games is still the better system for games, and will remain so for a while. Plus 3rd party games still look better on the 360, or at works look identical. As far as peaked, you obviously haven't seen Gears of War 2.- Gamoc, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2Maybe he hasn't, but I have, and it seems you haven't seen MGS4. 360's graphics are damn near as high as they're gonna go, and MGS4 didn't even come close to stretching the PS3's architecture.
In case you didn't understand that; The PS3 wins. - phinn, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2Lol Gears of War 2 pales in comparison to SOCOM (ps3 exclusive, 32 players, squads, destructible environments, free, etc) and especially MAG, even though that's over a year off, if you play games online like most do.
- Gamoc, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2Maybe he hasn't, but I have, and it seems you haven't seen MGS4. 360's graphics are damn near as high as they're gonna go, and MGS4 didn't even come close to stretching the PS3's architecture.

- xboxing, on 07/16/2008, -2/+11I downloaded the HD version of Beowulf this morning and it took a little over 3 hours to complete and the file was over 7GB, not bad at all. I saw quite a few other movies on there I'm going to rent. I'm really excited they finally launched it. Yeah, its not Netflix, but I mostly game on my PS3, so movies for me is just an added bonus.
- mooninite, on 07/16/2008, -1/+47GB? I'll take the 50GB Blu-ray disc of higher quality for the same price, thanks.
- xboxing, on 07/16/2008, -2/+6Same price? It was 5.99 to rent.
- Zamfir, on 07/16/2008, -2/+3I can rent BD movies for less.
- Todesengelvr6, on 07/16/2008, -1/+5ALL the blockbusters and Hollywood videos around me are $6.50 to rent a blu-ray movie.
- EtherGnat, on 07/16/2008, -0/+2@Todesengelvr6
I'm not sure if they still have them, but Hollywood Video sells calendars for a few dollars that have 14 (two general and 1 for each month) buy one get one free rental coupons in them which are good for Blu-ray.
If you get really lucky you might find a deal like we did. A few weeks ago Big Brothers/Big Sisters was having a fundraiser in our Hollywood Video. They were selling coupons with two free rentals (no expiration date, include videogames and HD) for a $1 donation. We paid $100 for 200 rentals.
- Temo1, on 07/16/2008, -0/+3Now all you need is a better movie to watch.
- phinn, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1Well Netflix is the best on PS3 even though it doesn't do streaming, it's the same price (like $8.99 a month) and you get unlimited Blu-ray rentals.
- mooninite, on 07/16/2008, -1/+47GB? I'll take the 50GB Blu-ray disc of higher quality for the same price, thanks.
- killtrocity, on 07/16/2008, -2/+3This is great... but I think I am still going to torrent my movies and stream them to my ps3 (thank you divX support) until I decide that I make enough money to justify this rental service. Frankly, I still like seeing movies in the theater anyways.
- phinn, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1I agree, but I could imagine using this once in a while too, especially since a lot of them are in HD... Nothing beats Blu-ray though :-)
- iknow81810, on 07/16/2008, -7/+9Bittorrent downloads are still, and always will be, available for the low price of free.
In other words, who cares?- stuntiliator, on 07/19/2008, -0/+0I don't mind paying money for decent products or movies. However, until they improve their library of movies and place some that I actually think are worth paying for, I'll wait.
- Boofster, on 07/16/2008, -1/+1It's nice but they screwed up Season 6 Episode 1 of Family Guy. WTF!?!?
- LoudMusic, on 07/16/2008, -0/+7Ah *****, there's another thing going to kill the internet. Fiber to the house! Gigabit for everyone! Come on!
- lolinyerface, on 07/16/2008, -1/+1Where's my PSX downloads to PSP without using a PS3?
- jasnmb, on 07/16/2008, -0/+4http://store.playstation.com/ for PC to PSP. Still waiting on direct store to PSP downloads.
- kyrre, on 07/16/2008, -0/+2.
- B1663r, on 07/16/2008, -0/+4I find your ideas intriguing and would like to subscribe to your newsletter
- spin164, on 07/16/2008, -6/+1To all of you who own ANY type of PS3
/bow
You have a brain, congrats! - rezist, on 07/16/2008, -0/+4This might be a stupid question but what format are the videos in??
- spacebuddy, on 07/16/2008, -0/+6With the PS3 you can easily pop out the Hard Drive and stick a 120G drive in :)
- phinn, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2Yep my friend did it to his, only like $50 for a 120gb S-ATA 7200rpm drive. It even detected it and set it up.
- Bozmanbeyond, on 07/16/2008, -1/+2Woo-pie Do, La De Da who cares. Here's the trick question, I can download them, keep them, transfer them, but no mention of if I can burn it on a DVD? So you really don't get to keep it, only till the HDD dies. Just imagine all the HDD piled up in you closet.
- Gamoc, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1What the hell do you do with your hardrives, take them out with you everyday? I've had a PC for 7 years and it's still got the original hardrive in it working perfectly, it'd take a huge amount of time to even have a pile of 2 hardrives in my closet. It'd probably give me time to move into a house in which I have a closet, too.
- onlyclave, on 07/16/2008, -0/+2Then go buy the DVD with the box and all of that stuff.
- phinn, on 07/17/2008, -1/+7So Playstation 3 now has lots of awesome games, Blu-ray movie player (with 1080p and TrueHD), DVD up conversion, streaming movies/videos/pix, free online gaming, and downloadable HD movies and TV shows transferable even to PSP? Sold.
- valleyfever, on 07/17/2008, -3/+0Hey, I have a brain too ya know! Oh, wait, I also own a PS3 ;-)
- ElCheLikesAudi, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2I have a 52 inch HDTV hooked up to my PS3 and I'll say this it good and the movie quality is very good I'm happy the SD look great too. The only thing I have to say is don't rent other than that I have to say it not bad.
- Born4Surf, on 07/17/2008, -1/+1Movie Downloads take forever to download, so until super fast broadband is here, we still have to wait ages for a movie to download.
- untzboy, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1Use Ethernet to prevent speed loss through wireless. Also, you can stream them while downloading.
- Andyschism, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2Good showing Sony. Things to fix now, more HD content. Price them accordingly (the same price for a 30min and a 10min adultswim show? yeah . . . ). Also put up a special package if you want to buy the entire season. Oh and dont add future seasons if you cant even get the first season, and put up the missing episodes in seasons. Other then that I like it.
- stuntiliator, on 07/19/2008, -0/+0While I'm excited at the idea, after browsing through the library of currently available titles, I didn't really see any films I wanted to download. I hope they improve their selection of titles.
