New proxy unblocks myspace and gmail
vtunnel.com — If your school / work blocks access to certain websites, you can hop through a proxy to get to the unreachable site. I came accross one, www.Vtunnel.com, that allows you to log in to myspace, gmail, and a variety of other websites for free. Most free proxies block "form post", but this one does not. Also try vpntunnel.net or safeforwork.net.

- Phatlip12, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Ps. Who blocks gmail?
- MindsCave, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1seriously are there places out there (schools, companies etc) that block GMail?
- bushawa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yes, they do not want you to be able to send stuff out through web mail...though they only block big web mail (gmail, yahoo mail, etc) where as squirrelmail is not affected.
- jafojsharp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Funny my works Websense filter has already blocked vtunnel.com. Oh well, back to Term'ing into home at 256 colors.
- KNon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Just another proxy out of 48.6 billion...
- darksain, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Already blocked here :(
But I like proxies so... DUGG! - Skrolnik, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Something I've always wondered: If I report an article as both old news and lame, do both reports go through, or does only one problem report per user actually get counted?
- Darkmoth, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Do workplaces really block MySpace? We sure don't. We don't employ anyone under 17, so it's a moot issue. =P
Blocking gmail is just crazy and wrong.- ciccarone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1hell yeah, ours did... damn nazis
- Phatlip12, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Thank god for SSH
- mikeypimp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I work on an Army post(Ft. Hood) and the network staff blocks all webmail sites that I've found. It even has vtunnel.com blocked.
- klaymen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yes, my school blocks gmail. it also blocks youtube, putfile, pretty much everything that is not a school site (funny, they don't block big sites like ebay or major clothing lines......***** retarded schools)
- jafojsharp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The google one posted up there worked great!! Thanks, xyzzyman
- RobertJoseph17, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Gmail is blocked at my office.

http://www.funnyandfun.com - thekidder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Looks to me just like CGIProxy (http://www.jmarshall.com/tools/cgiproxy/) on a website with some ads.
Nothing special. - ahoier, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yea, better off using SSH or VPN on your home computer. using any of these proxies, you are putting trust in that proxy, that they won't hack/crack or otherwise access your account.
- Tennen, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0BLOCKED BY GAYSENSE!!!1
- jonathanex, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Woo, more proxies. I was trying to access Digg at school, and it was all "lets block half of digg for a ***** REASON".
- kingharvest, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I tried this at my workplace and couldn't even get to the site. I got a message reading: The Websense category Proxy Avoidance is filtered.
Not to worry. I'll be home soon... - sonicdevo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A little help from those of you who also have to deal with websense would be appreciated...
I've tried using UltraVNC to access my home from work, but have had no luck. The connection would just time out. Anyone want to share their setups (other than proxies, b/c they get blocked pretty quick) for accessing their home boxes through websense? - ifonly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://www.hidemyass.com is best
- qahba, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1that proxy is blocked here, I use http://radio-farda.com , it unblocks SSL sites too .
- ifonly, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I also like how this site has taken the CGI copyright information off the layout!
- redrighthand, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What do the IT stafff see when you use a site like that?
- funkywizard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0reading the cgi-proxy terms of use, it doesnt mention in any way that you should leave the copyright notice on.
- funkywizard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it staff see urls like
http://vtunnel.com/nph-info.mpl/010110A/687474702s7777772r676s6s676p652r636s6q2s (google.com) - halc5s, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Yeah, let's all allow someone to collect not only the sites we visit, but our login info as well. Smart! Oh wait, they say they are not logging, well if they say so it must be true.
- desiv, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Thanx for the info. As the network administrator, I have blocked it for my users.
I will now go thru the logs to make sure no one has been using it. :-)- cooldudep, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0you are a ***** ***** lol

- databyss, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1try using just the IP address.
- spamdies, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0nearly any proxy will do this
- VerbalIronyX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow it would use this if my schools ISP didn't block it for 'hacking'
- spamdies, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0try having google translate the site from anylanguage to english for you...
- iamsjn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Thank you... Added that site to my blocked list...
- mevious, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I work for the 10th largest school district in Washington State as a Network Admin - let me just say this:
We really dont out right block a lot of sites with our proxy filter - we subscribe to N2H2 filtering services. On occasion, we do block things (mostly proxy sites) using our packetshaper (ah young padawan, thank you Packeteer!)
That being said, if kids would stop using school machines to surf myspace and other crap it wouldnt be an issue - We had 91 teacher complaints in the first month of school this year...several complanits from each teacher - and what did they want blocked? Myspace. Another 44 seperate incidents requestin nph-proxy.pl be blocked.
Its not the admins who want it blocked -if the system wasnt abused, it wouldnt be (For the most part...school dsitricts are required to make an effort to attempt to filter inappropriate content like porn)- 1337STI, on 02/06/2008, -0/+0maybe if they weren't blocked every where we gwe would have to sabotage computers just to look a site that you "school dsitricts" block for gay reasons
- iteachgeeks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0that's ok. sonicwall blocks proxies too!
- funkywizard, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1i love how schools get big grants for computers to help kids learn to communicate on the internet, then block their methods of communication, email and blogs. good work schools and teachers.
