Thumnails in Firefox like in IE7
addons.mozilla.org — This is a cool little extension which lets you view thumbnails of all the open tabs with the click of a button. This feature was promoted as being a new feature in IE7, and you can use it in firefox right now.

- phore, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3kind of old tho
- chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nice. Take that IE7 =p
- wookiekiller, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I like it.
- chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah it was released like 20 days ago, its not old.
- davdav, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I was hoping for omniweb style tabs...
Cool nonetheless - Seumas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is pretty stupid. And it's stupid that it's in IE7 as a "new innovation".
OMNIWeb has been doing thumbnails of your tabs for a long time now and they are FAR cooler and more useful:

Take what? Funny how this is gonna eventually be twisted into some story about Microsoft stealing ideas once IE7 is out of beta. - CanuckMakem, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I like it... looks sweet on my Intel iMac
- kevinski, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oops. Scratch my last comment. I had no idea that OmniWeb existed. Is that Mac-only?
- mycatsboots, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I like my Thums
- JAWS, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0doesn't work with firefox 1.0.7 :( no digg.
- jnorris441, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I give it a thums up

Yeah. And it's about $30. Not bad, except the engine they use is the same as Safari and it is usually a few iterations behind. After awhile, it started crashing often on me. But it does have lots of features that require third-party enhancements or extensions with most other browsers (including Firefox). Adblocking, cool tab handling, thumbnail tabs, crash recovery, session saving, multiple work sessions (awesome).
But the whole crashing thing sort of sucked to much, so I stopped using it. :)
Seriously, if someone created that tab/thumbnail functionality for Firefox... I would be all over that extension. - Snyder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0been usin this for a while
- jmz668, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Old and dupe!

two thums? - ender52, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0just shows why open source is so great. MS comes up with a cool feature (if they really thought of it) and then somebody can just write an extension for Firefox to do it too.
- Jammerdelray, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0already have it, been out for awhile, no digg...
- Brutal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2For true OMNIWeb-style tabs in Firefox:
http://www.digg.com/software/Neat_Firefox_Extension_(graphical_tabs) - dracula7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0it was updated 20 days ago--i tried it outawhile ago...
really useless - h3adstr0ng, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i dislike how it opens a tab rather than using a cool effect to show all the tabs
also i wish you could press tab or something to make it all come together
i still prefer tab preview though - mack.michael, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This IS old. Lifehacker had an article about this towards the end of November and it has been creeping up on lists of people's favorite Firefox extensions ever since. The release date shown at the top of the extension's webpage is for the current version. Great extension though.

Sweet. I've never seen that before. I dont' like that it uses the standard sidebar, because I prefer to have my sidebar pop OUT of the browser and not squeeze INTO the browser window. But still.. this is as close to what I want as I've ever seen in FireFox. Thanks for the awesome find! - baratunde, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0old news. been available at least since november
- OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1
doesn't work with firefox 1.0.7 :( no digg.
Come on, that's like saying "Doesn't work with my Commodore 64." - ryker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is a pretty cool extension. I've been using it for at least a month or two.
But, c'mon people! Is it really that hard to spell check before you post a story? - reaver, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0useless.
- MAG1CO, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Seem's pretty cool, I installed it - lets see if it stays or goes in the next few days...
- longman2g, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i don't get what the big deal is about people stealing ideas, everybody does it. someone comes up with an idea that people like, then companies make it happen with their stuff too. But if microsoft does it people get pissed off. Apple didn't invent the mp3 player, but that didn't stop them from stealing that idea and making tons of money off of it. I say get rid of the double standards and quit complaining about stuff.
- cdmarcus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This has been around for a looooong time before MS copied it in IE 7. No digg. We all know (or at least we should) how to use the Mozilla addons site.
- ryanchristopher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Shiira http://hmdt-web.net/shiira/en (mac only) does it better... http://hmdt-web.net/shiira/English/res/img_tabExpose.jpg rnI'd use it over firefox but it just doesn't have the extensions I need...
- matx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It ok, not that great. Would be better if instead of being just thumnails you could use them as real pages such as being able to scroll down and click links.
- DaBigWorm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I thought it was gonna be thumbnails like this...on mouseover
http://ted.mielczarek.org/code/mozilla/tabpreview/ - jczer68, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't get it, how is this extension any different than the other extensions like this: Tab Preview, Tab Sidebar, Firefox Showcase, and probably many others since FF1.5 came out. There was even a java based one before FF1.5.
- jnemonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Safari has had this for a while...
- se7en, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0fluff
- berean, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Yeah, this extension is pretty lame. Wanna see your tabs? Better options available, as listed above.
- rebusrms, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0very cool it may be old but its new to me
- mortal-god, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0cool extension, I would probably use it if my monitor had better resolution
- planksconstant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"doesn't work with firefox 1.0.7 :( no digg."
so why don't you upgrade to 1.5 like the rest of the world? - dep01, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0In concept, cool, but in actual use, not very useful at all. The thumbnails, even when you're only viewing 4 pages, are extremely pixelated and impossible to read. What's the point?
- kill3r, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0old.
- oltompic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1ie > firefox please
thankyou - jtms1200, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this rocks - +Digg
firefox FTW! - simpled, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Firefox copying IE? uh-oh
- greekgoat91, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i've had this for a while now, great extension
- jtms1200, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0oltompic, you are a complete and TOTAL moron if you think IE is better in even the most marginal of ways. IE is the biggest POS browser ever created. Try being a web developer and dealing with all of its inconsistencies and bugs and general crap. All that wonderful spyware and viruses? Well guess what... use ANY other browser other than IE and you don't get those issues. firefox > IE all day long and will continue to be so for the foreseeable future.
- jamesburton1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice!
+Digg - vlsi0n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1MS does this a lot better, in IE7 its sexy and sleek, in this is bulky and gross looking... no /digg
- metalgore32, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wow digg users are further behind the curve than i had previously thought... you could do this with FF1.5 when it was first released.....
