- cambrown99, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Top way to keep me from looking at a site: put an annoying ad with a fly noise on it that can't be shut off.
- herrshuster, on 10/12/2007, -14/+3Do you know how to shut off your speakers??? Ok now do it.
- tmilam, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5@cambrown99:
just use adblock to apply a filter to *.swf
If you want to see flash, just whitelist a site. right click > whitelist. It's a great annoyance filter. Advertisers are counting on you not knowing how to filter out their flash animations. Thats why you see so many of them. - marioluigi123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3While I know it's really easy to block ads like that, you have to realize that they shouldn't put annoying ads there in the first place if they want to attract visitors.
- mickmel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Sorry about that - those types of ads were supposed to be disabled, but obviously weren't. I've removed that entire ad area until I can get it straightened out with FastClick.
- JRBeaudry, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Good one. Pretty awesome.
- jonknapp, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Agreed. Great list!
- HatchedEggs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8My wife and I are looking for a house right now... so the people that are creating sites that link houses for sale and apply them to Google Maps are creating the most useful content for me. Its cool to see what houses are available in my surrounding area.
- anonymonk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Direct link to the summary with links to all the 10 best things...

That way you can go directly to the ones you're most interested in. - b_timmins, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1While I think GE is great I wish it's search was a bit smarter, like have the search box search the road names visible on the screen, which doesn't work in South London (England - for the Americans among you :-) ) unless you type Street Name, London which isn't quite what you want.
Also it is too US-centric, though I realise they are working on that and it is easier to get the data they need in the "land of the free"- Ascendant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2heh... well I guess the stereotype of Americans is that we are ignorant of "foreign lands" :)
OTOH I suppose the stereotype of Brits is being snobby and condescending... - dblondon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2spot on - that bugs me too....being from a similar part of the world and experiencing exactly the same problem.
- Ascendant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2heh... well I guess the stereotype of Americans is that we are ignorant of "foreign lands" :)
- OropheR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Really good stuff here, and many features Google Earth had and that I ignored. Definitly, i will try using this software a bit more.
And when will be created the first MMOG using Google Earth...?- jonknapp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0That'd be pretty sweet...
- Lenin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They already have a game With Google Earth.
www.gewar.net
It is like risk, but much bigger and you take over cties. - mickmel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, there's always gewar.
Of course, now you've got me dreaming about how to build an MMO in there... :)
- Craig1394, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Some of that stuff is hard to do considering they update the images once every three years or so! I have been waiting over a year for certain areas to update out here in SoCal. There are four "newer" houses on my street that were built over one year ago, yet Google Earth still shows a dirt lot. How the hell can people catch themselves in flight with any degree of certainty?
- nasirmehmood, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I did not know that features of google earth before.
- stalefries, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I imagine you didn't know proper pluralization rules before.
- Navicerts, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1not really hacks are they?
Cool things, some i didn't know about though. - SickBoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That flying tour is the bee's knees!
- srodolff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They forgot......
11. Find Giant bugs! (there's a very clear giant earwig near Hulen, Germany)
12. Try to find the classified aircraft that were deleted. (SR71s and Raptors have mysteriously disappeared from Edwards) - SpiderX22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've been using Google Earth alot...and I didn't even know about the "be an aircraft" option. Great collection!
- joeyrutledge, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1i posted a comment under the wrong story and now I can't delete it. mod me down.
