My Yahoo! Gets Web 2.0 Makeover
readwriteweb.com — Yahoo has announced a new version of its long-running personalized homepage, My Yahoo. It features a fresh design that is similar to the beta yahoo.com, more Ajax interactivity, a full-text RSS Reader, and more personalization options (e.g. sharing). It will at first be a private beta, with a limited number of users being offered a beta account.

Whoops...
Yet it still doesnt matter. Yahoo doesnt care about black....err....Firefox users.
- Popdmb, on 10/12/2007, -11/+3http://cm.my.yahoo.com/
- alphagod, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I guess the link is http://cm.my.yahoo.com/upgrade
- bmilleker, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2SLOW! I hate it.
- texpundit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8"SLOW!"
That's my main problem with the AJAX upgrade for Yahoo! Mail. I love the interface, but on my poor old ThinkPad, it uses way too much processor power and slows everything else down to a crawl.
- texpundit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8"SLOW!"
- miketheburrito, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Yahoo gets an E for effort.
- seca111, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4I very much like the scoreboard
- wild, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Ewe at the design for the bar on the left.
- 0crabby0, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1I like my yahoo the way it is...
Phooey on 2.0! - EtherGnat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3It can be hidden. There are also a number of different themes and color schemes.
- 0crabby0, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1I like my yahoo the way it is...
- strabes, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14I'll stick with www.google.com/ig
- avihappy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Personal Google is Ad free bliss!
- onemillion, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1great... just what we need, more web 2.0
- infonography, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I guess they need to get updated to Web 3.0.
/Yes, I know it doesn't exist - farplaner, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5The ad is now so much more "in your face" than before...
I tried it for 5 minutes and switched back to the original.- madmaxmedia, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2That big ad block on the right side is horrible!
The new sports scores section is annoying, with the big team logos.
Finally, the new page is slower than the old one in Firefox, and seems functionally equivalent.
I switched back to my old page after 5 minutes (it's my default home page.)
Maybe I should switch permanently to Google. I like Gmail much better than the old or new Yahoo Mail. - thbt, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1digg down pls
- madmaxmedia, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2That big ad block on the right side is horrible!
- JR__, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Google is still much better than Yahoo.
- DaveMN, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Nice try, but no thanks.
Much better (in my preferred order):
http://www.netvibes.com
http://www.yourminis.com
http://www.pageflakes.com
http://www.protopage.com- jasz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7must agree with DaveMN ... Netvibes on top of that list...
- Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5at least the actual 2.0 sites can pull it off
- nshahzad, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3i love the new one..
use adblock ff extension! - rlshep, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6My concern is, there is no additional functionality. It is just prettier and slower.
- blaker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The other one is much better at the moment....
- sidepocket, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Google Reader for me, thanks.
- drjekelmrhyde, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Damn the haterism is thick here it works fine in FF and I had no slowdown
http://i19.tinypic.com/4fvqtd1.jpg - RaysinX, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Although I a few homepages are a bit better than my.yahoo.com
I have been using it since I first started roaming the internet so I'm dedicated.
And I still love yahoo sports and yahoo finance - jordan314, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hmm I like it, and it works fine in firefox.
I did switch back to regular yahoo mail though, for the slowness in connectivity, not for the slowness in CPU cycles. It has a lot of great features but when you can't access your inbox, when it hangs sending a message, or when you scroll down your inbox and get a million stuck "loading message..."s it's time to switch back. - Bob_Oliver, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Weaksauce...
Netvibes.com did a much better job. - rally25rs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hopefully it works better than the current myyahoo. Mine takes forever to load, and since its my homepage, I often question if my net connection is even working, untill I click another site and it pops right up.
Plus 50% of the time the RSS feeds I have added don't show any content, or are out of date. It like to tell me that Digg, Engadget, and Woot all have no RSS posts in the last few days... yeah right... :) - erichb1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2very nice, much better then the old version.
- Space4ThePoppa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I've been using my.yahoo.com for years ... I stick with it because I am familar with it. But, I can't get the beta - it won't let me. I'd switch in a second - I love the new mail client.
- peter337, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Works excellent in Firefox for me.
- redwallhp, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Check out: http://blog.wired.com/monkeybites/2007/03/my_yahoo_beta_l.html I haven't decided what I like better Netvibes, Pageflakes, or Google IG. I'm definitely NOT ever going to even try the yahoo one after reading that... (I dont like yahoo anyway)
