- TokenUser, on 10/12/2007, -10/+68Definately one of the best editted Video Podcasts out there. Editting makes a huge difference between making the content interesting, and actually making the content viewable. Alex, Dan, Jeff, and Steve (the man behind the camera and the editting console) put together a show that would not look out of place on a basic cable network. Nice green screen usage, and video overlays add a very professional touch.
Congrats on the write up guys.- Torx, on 10/12/2007, -9/+5*holds up TRS shirt*
You gotta love their intro skits - djbelieve, on 10/12/2007, -8/+81Sorry...I couldn't resist:

^^ TRS Shirt. I already bought one. - ttntyler, on 10/12/2007, -83/+7Say what you want about the content, but anyone who thinks it looks even remotely acceptable as far as production values are concerned is absolutely out of their mind.
Honestly, anything from the G4 network looks 10 times better than this, and that's not saying much (lowest rated channel in America anyone?)
Podcasting has a very, very, very, very long way to go until it matches any offerings from a major broadcast network, and until that day comes I'll be sticking with American Idol. - djbelieve, on 10/12/2007, -4/+34@ ttntyler:
Did you just say 'American Idol'? What has this world come to? - ttntyler, on 10/12/2007, -45/+3Yeah yeah, digg me down all you want. It's one of the biggest TV shows of all time.
- logost, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24e-legal
- ahussain1986, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8TRS is awesome. The overall feeling of the show is that its 3 good friends talking about stuff thats interesting to them. i personally love the cheesy effects, and I'd rather watch this than anything else on tv. graphics and ***** dont matter, it's about the content, and with TRS, the content is awesome.
- Rekzai, on 10/12/2007, -11/+7I watched it a couple times, I don't like when they babble on about dumb stuff tho, diggnation is definitely better..
- Anonymouz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16@ Rekzai
Hold up hooold up
"I don't like when they babble on about dumb stuff tho, diggnation is definitely better.."
The best bits about diggnation are when they babble on about dumb stuff (not my choice of words) therefore i dont see how you could not like TRS. - Harbinger67, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7I watched most of the first episode of TRS. I eventually lost interest. I like the effects and I think Alex is awesome, but something about the show just didn't rub me right. I think it's the fact that it's 3 people; sometimes it seems like there's just too much talking going on. 2 hosts is the optimal number, at least in my tastes.
- MrJohnson, on 10/12/2007, -16/+7So, I really like this show- but I really dislike Dan. I don't know exactly what it is but he just seems really annoying.
Digg me if you agree, digg me down if you disagree. - ousthouse, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1The intro storyline is a ripoff of MST3K. Lame.
- Refrag, on 10/12/2007, -12/+4They need to replace Dan with Jonathan London. Dan was horrible on Geekdrome too. They need to replace Alex with someone that doesn't argue in falsetto. The third guy is good enough.
The production is pretty good, though. - Dolomite, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Another hit for Kevin Rose. Way to go K-Dog!
- da_bradler, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2I like the concept of the show, my only problem is they aren't very good critics, honestly for an actor alex seems to know very little about movies and t.v. They are very American in there taste, in that anything that requires critical thinking they think sucks because there isn't enough action. whoever the guy is on the left seems to be the only one with decent taste.
Death proof was one of the best movies of this year and the fact that they thought it was boring was the breaking point for me.
Also the fact that they are standing just seems extremely awkward to watch, ever wonder why nobody else does that format? doesn't work. - TokenUser, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Psst - they aren't standing, they are sitting on bar stools ... purchased from Ikea. The "behind the scenes" shot where they were assembling the chairs they bought from Ikea was amusing. My guess is that Dan might actually be standing now - his chair wasn't exactly assembled with Swedish precision.
- mara00jade, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Okay, as much as I do think the show is starting to grow into its own... I think that the editing is actually what puts many people OFF about the show.
3 cameras can be fun, but when you cut between them you need to have a reason why you are making the cut. A lot of the cuts are really out of place because it will jump to a shot of 2 people listening while the third one is talking and REMAIN on those two people when they might be doing anything interesting. Or there are a lot of cuts of jumping to a person right BEFORE they comment on the discussion, where the cut should be made a little ways into what the person is starting to say. All of these cuts *can* be appropriate, but you have to do it correctly.
Awkward cutting, and cutting to the guys having sort of awkward moments right before they talk or rubbing their nose or something can leave the whole show feeling awkward. You want to CUT out the awkwardness instead of playing it up... but I do think they are getting better as a host of 3 and listening to each other.
- Torx, on 10/12/2007, -9/+5*holds up TRS shirt*
- Jcespino, on 10/12/2007, -32/+3this is a podcast that makes me wish i had a video ipod.
- jads, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23An iPod isn't a requirement. I have a video iPod but I still watch all video podcasts on my computer / tv.
- spect3r, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24I watch all podcasts with my PSP :) It's the only thing it's good at!
- ChrisrWilliams, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25I just ordered my TRS shirt. It's slowly becoming my favourite Revision3 network show. Diggnation > TRS... for now.
- dusingaz, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9Very Professional show.
- corsairstw, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Yep. It's definitely one of the best video podcasts out there already. I love the TRS! I especially like how it's very professionally produced, yet they don't lose that special connection that all podcasts take advantage of by not being attached to some studio that distances itself from the audience.
It's a very real, down to earth show, like Diggnation. It's the kind of stuff people want to see. - tastypastry, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Didn't even know about this show, look forward to catching up on these episodes. I've fallen so behind on Rev3 content. Don't even watch or listen to Diggnation anymore. Not enough time in the day.
- coit, on 10/12/2007, -8/+12If only they didn't have all the dead time between cool graphics when they sit around and say "Dood" all the time. And we thought Diggnation was tough!
Maybe I'm too old for TRS? - timjbart, on 10/20/2007, -21/+74Weird, I found the TRS really boring. Each to their own
*Braces for the inevitable digg down*- gage006, on 10/12/2007, -12/+30Glad i'm not the only one. I love Diggnation but TRS just doesn't do it for me. Maybe it's the cheesy backgrounds and explosions. Still...it beats anything G4 has.
- Kloser331, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19I'm glad I'm not alone in this opinion. I turned off the RSS feed after 3 episodes.
- Refrag, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I only still subscribe to this show because Geekscape isn't produced regularly enough to satisfy my movie and video game fix.
- Schrade, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I only lasted one episode. I like Alex but not the other guys. Cool concept, need to replace the other guys though.
- SlashNot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4your not alone. I showed TRS to my cousin who is a huge Movie fan, and he couldn't of been more bored. I myself love the show.
- vocalyouth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I really tried to like it, but this week I unsubscribed. I just find it boring. The production and stuff is fine, it's just the other 2 co-hosts that aren't Alex. They're both really irritating and boring to me. I really wanted to like it. Oh well, I still have diggnation and dltv for my video podcast needs.
- reknaps, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1I dont mind the show really. Not my favorite, but it's decent entertainment.
One thing I cant stand though about TRS.... Alex's singing at the end of the opening song (And I know he said it was Heather singing, but I dont believe it). Alex is funny as hell, but he has a little girl's voice when he sings. It just needs to stop. - L8Night, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0I have to agree with timjbart. My main complaint is that all three of them talk over each other way too often. If they'd just give each other a bit of time to spit out what they're saying the show would be much better. Kudos to the editing though - that's one part of the show I like.
- NinjaBoy, on 10/20/2007, -2/+39Better than any show on G4!
- Smegzor, on 10/12/2007, -14/+23I watched the first ep, wasn't impressed and won't be watching it again. I like Alex and watch Diggnation religiously, but his new show just doesn't do it for me.
- sexybobo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20try watching episode 2 the first one wasn't very good but they have gotten a lot better since that one.
- corsairstw, on 10/12/2007, -2/+31And who doesn't love the quick scene openers to each show? VERY creative!
- feihung08, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I've been watching Geekdrome since episode 1 and Diggnation for ever, and I was just amazed at the production value of TRS. It's good stuff!
- woodsy, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3I miss Jonathon London :-(
- BerenTW, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3he is on geekscape.
that said, i watched the first like 10 of those and then got bored. Jonathon needs a fail like Dan. And most of his guests can't do that. So his episodes are hit a miss a bit.
- chorne, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I think that TRS has to be one of the coolest shows on Revision3. I have nothing else to say other than it's Rad!
"Three rad dudes with nothing better to do..." - indraneel24, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11i'm just glad to know that the "totally rad, totally rad" part of the theme song ISN'T alex.
great show, turned me back onto Avatar.
but diggnation>>all. - SHaR87, on 10/12/2007, -14/+1diggnation is still the best show on revision3. Just combine TRS and diggnation, and it will be the best podcast ever.
- Ndric, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Uhh no.
- theclab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14If you just watched the first episode you should give it another chance. I think they have gotten better every week. I look forward to it as much as any show on television.
- InitialDMP5, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I don't like it that they have the rad explosion to close EVERY segment!! I really like this show and ordered a shirt, but as someone who does some editing and lost of visual effects work, I think some of their background plates could be more....rad. But I really do enjoy watching the show and added to my weekly schedule of must watch stuff. Their opinions on movies very closely mirror my own, and I can always relate to one of the guys on a subject, so thats great.
I feel like am sitting with some of my friends and just talking about stuff when I watch TRS and Digg. Its great. Only on a podcast could you develop that connection through video.
Keep up the good work Revision 3 people! - Davies, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I'm a busy guy, so I listen to these podcasts at night. Am I the only person who gets jarred awake every time there's an explosion?
- Torx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2BEWM!
- derrick, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1"BEWM!"
Are you serious? How bad is this going to get?
It'd be really sad if it took you less effort to spell like a moron than it would to spell correctly.
- nwahs086, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Totally Rad Show on Facebook
http://lsu.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2257958257&ref=mf - aburd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8The Totally Rad Show's biggest strength is that all of the players are so passionate about the subjects of film and TV. I'm not a big gamer so I can't speak to that, but their discussions remind me of a much more entertaining version of my friends geeking out over a movie/tv show. I love that go there. So much of the discussion of filmed stories centers around celebrity or genre, these guys are talking about the nuts and bolts of the craft in a fun way.
TRS ***** rocks. Keep it up! - robshoy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Diggnation, This Week in Tech, and now the Totally Rad Show. Weekly podcasts are quickly getting better and better than anything on TV or the radio. Revision3, you're leading the way. Keep making 'em, we'll keep watching 'em!
- Smegzor, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1TV? Oh I remember that. I got rid of mine just this week. Now all of my entertainment is web based.
- JustinZz, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3love TRS
and im glad Jonathan from geekdrome is gone all he seemed like an ass - ThePags, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I like TRS but I can help but feel the show is Geekdrome with 2 new guys and the expulsion of Jonothan London. And if you watch the couple of episodes of geekdrome you can tell that Dan isnt really into it but with TRS he is enthused.
- postaboy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Yea I cant stress how good the production value of the show is, it looks like they actually put some thought into everything they do and it is still able to be funny, original, and really creative. And i know some might want to admit it, but its as good or even better than diggnation.
- ironsteve, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3As much as I wanted to love TRS, I just like it. Same thing with Jonathan's new pod cast.
I think Dan's bland-less and Jonathan's craziness played off each other well.
I miss the old Geekdrome pod-cast. Hopefully Dan can sit in one day on Jonathan's pod-cast and relive the old magic. - XombieRobot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Thank Jebus for Diggnation and now the TRS! I work a terrible call center job and squeezing both shows in between calls helps me through my day, keeping it moving fast. The guys from TRS keep me entertained with their borderline homoeroticism, funny geek/nerd jokes, hilarious movie references and funny editing that keeps my eyes glued to the screen.
We must whore these guys out and subscribe on itunes, unsubscribe and re-subscribe over and over again to get their ratings up, in episode 7, they plead for us to do this for them, lets give ‘em some help diggers! I want to keep this show going strong! - bouche, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Ah *****. another show I have to watch on my computer? I'm never going to make it downstairs to be with my fiancée.
- postaboy, on 10/12/2007, -6/+7This show is better than Diggnation..there I said it.
- SpazAndies, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I love "The Totally Rad Show" Its Diggnation but with based on Entertainment and I think they did a RAD (sorry) Job, gd going guys.
- Fiyerstorm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5From the latest ep: "The Blacks----" followed by at least 6 minutes laughter.
I'm so glad they didn't take that out. :D - wastern, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8I couldn't make it through the first episode. I couldn't get into it at all, it was a chore for me to watch
- rwtf91, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7I don't like it.
- Jammypac, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8"Grows up"? This is one pretty juvenile show. The production values aren't terrible, and the hosts seem likable enough, but as a whole it's just silly and kinda tedious.
- CarGuy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1i really like the show... something about it doesnt get me excited about it every week.. but it's solid.
- suMMx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5the guys are great and teh show is rad, ill keep watching. It's better than 90% of the garbage on tv these days
- michaelb1, on 10/12/2007, -12/+5To be honest I stopped watching TRS when Alex started selling/defending Microsoft so much on Diggnation.
I still watch diggnation but 1 Alex show is enough for me.
I just have a very low tolerance for listening to people discuss a product when they seem to have an agenda.
Based on Alex's refusal to acknowledge any good things about iPod, Apple in general, Sony or any other product that competes with the 360, Zune or Vista I would say he is not an objective reviewer.
Kevin is an Apple fan but at least he acknowledges some cool features in Vista and that he enjoys the 360.
Why waste the time?- michaelb1, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3i am being dugg down but not rebutted.
- carpeclunes, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Thats probably because no one respects your opinion.
- michaelb1, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1"Thats probably because no one respects your opinion."
welcome to the internets.
- antikmart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wasn't going to comment but since I was the 1337 digg I thought I might boast a bit.
- stevennutz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Shows like this have replaced traditional tv for me everything I watch I get online, and with the Apple TV I have officially replaced cable, so long sukka.
This show does have a great feel, and between TRS, Diggnation, Cranky Geeks, Indigital , and DLTV this is the closest I have seen to bringing back that old Tech TV feel. Now if only Twit would become a vidcast :P - uptown, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I've got a low tolerance for shows where the hosts spend an inordinate amount of time laughing with themselves..... seems like sometimes that all these podcasts turn into. Tune into 31:00 of episode 7 to see what I mean.
- BBeerB, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2You obviously don't get it, and we will be getting off your lawn too. Mister Uptight.
- JM13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Great show, but they could have used better than a default GarageBand loop for the intro music.
Love the format though! - gushgear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Hey, does anyone even know exactly why Dan and Jonathan stopped doing Geekdrome? Dan gives Jonathan's new podcast props in the first or second episode, but I've always been curious. It was so sudden, and a good explanation was never given. I have this picture in my head of jonathan catching dan sleeping with his girlfriend, or vice versa. The issue came up for a second in the question/answer portion of the first TRS, but the guys quickly brushed it off; pretending it never happened.
- FelixSchmelix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The content of this show is OK, but these guys need to forget the fact that they are actors and play their parts as technology enthusiasts / presenters. Like many 'aspiring actors', they go down the 'listen to my Hollywood insider / film student story' rathole way too often.
- KirbyAWD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Now go out and digg it in the podcast section already!
- jalo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Great editing, good content, but please GET A SOUND ENGINEER! Every time they busted up laughing the mic's started clipping! I thought there were ants making tinfoil balls in my ear canal. All it would take is a couple compressor/limiter/gates and the problem would be solved and sound would be excellent.
- Smegzor, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Can I have my ants back please?
- JoshuaH, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Anyone else notice Alex only logs in and Diggs stories about himself or something he is involved with?
- CiscoNoShut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1eventually Alex will work his girlfriend into the show and it will go to ***** also, pretty close now with 2 out of 3 hosts that come from failed shows.
- wideawakewesley, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Love the show!
- ADyer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Loving TRS, congrats to the crew
- dn11, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2I haven't watched much of the totally rad show - it seems to be well done, but it is yet another vidcast of some "dudes" sitting/standing in front of one camera and talking about geek news. This time there are three of them and they aren't visibly drunk on camera, but I still feel like we've seen it before.
For anyone looking for a good gaming centered vidcast I want to throw in a vote for the 1up Show (http://www.1up.com/do/minisite?cId=3145462) - to me it is the most well done and polished vidcast out there by far - when G4 turned into the game channel - this is what it should have been. It's high res, it's got great production quality and great variety of segments. I know it doesn't have quite the same "user generated" cred as Revision3 since 1up is backed up by Ziff Davis but still, this is what everyone else should be aspiring to. - k3vin187, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I can see why you say the production is done well because when compared to other podcasts it looks head and shoulders above everything else as far as production, however it shouldn't be; some of the diggers should have just got out of high school and i can tell you first hand that high school av productions are looking better than this including better cinematography and definitely better sound
