I've fallen & I can't get up because I took antidepressants

webaddictwebaddict sent a shout to parislemon   16 days ago
We have all seen the commercial and probably even chuckled at it a time or two, "HELP! I've fallen and I can't get up!" Well now it seems researchers have found that antidepressants just may be the cause of portion of these falls if you are 60 years or older. The main culprit? SSRIs which are antidepressants like Prozac, Effexor, etc. If you have an elderly parent or grandparent that might be on antidepressants give this one a digg or even a share. Thanks for your help and support! :D

Start school later; teens will have less daytime sleepiness

webaddictwebaddict sent a shout to parislemon   26 days ago
A study released by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine has shown changing school start time from 7:35am to 8:15am increased sleep time on school nights by an average of 33 minutes. It was believed that giving additional time could give teens more time to stay up at night. For most teens the extra time turned into extra sleep and less sleepiness.

I was personally really surprised that the teens in this study didn't abuse the extra time and stay up later. If it were me, I think I would have just stayed up later. However, 83% of the time these teens used the extra time to get more sleep. Cool huh? Maybe it will be a new trend for healthier students in school.

Let me know if you've got some good stuff by IM or shout.

Remotely tracking elderly's moves & vital signs, the future?

webaddictwebaddict sent a shout to parislemon   31 days ago
Families are helping take care of their aging parents across the country with the help of remote tracking and monitoring devices. Major corporations like Intel are investing millions in centers dedicated to aging and technology. GE Healthcare, IBM and Medtronic formed the Continua Health Alliance two years ago. Like it or not, it's a growing trend.

Do you think this is the right direction, too intrusive or just a sign of the times? Some of it seems a little far but it definitely gives the elderly more freedom to go their own way and still be cared for. Anyway, thought it was interesting.

If you have anything you need dugg as always send it my way by IM or shout and I'll take care of you as long as it's not crap or spam.

With underinflated tires eating up gas, where is the Tweel?

webaddictwebaddict sent a shout to parislemon   38 days ago
Some 3.56 million gallons of gas are wasted each day because of incorrectly-inflated tires according to the U.S. Department of Energy or $14.2 million in gas a day at $4/gal. In 2004, Michelin shocked the world with a revolutionary airless tire technology that could change transportation as we know it, the Tweel. Four years later, where's Tweel?

I'd love to have your Digg love on this one. We all need TWEEL's what do you think? :P Feel free to send you stuff my way, I got you covered as always.

Thanks!

Sign of the times, from Tupperware Parties to Gold Parties

webaddictwebaddict sent a shout to parislemon   44 days ago
America is literally throwing a party over Gold! :P

Move over Tupperware, there's a new party in town. With climbing gas prices, a dropping dollar and soaring gold valuations, people are starting to rummage through their jewelry boxes, heirlooms and stashes to bring their gold to the party down the street. Gold parties around the country are playing middle man and cashing in on the gold craze.

Thanks for your help and of course let me know if you have anything good going on in the Digg world.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend to those in the U.S.

Growing buds in offices increase employee's job satisfaction

webaddictwebaddict sent a shout to parislemon   46 days ago
What buds your office decides to grow is up for grabs, but research at Texas State University has produced some data that employees w/ window views & plants report higher quality of life & higher job satisfaction. Indoor plants produced stronger results in employees feeling better about their job, work & life. More men reported positive results.

Now if all offices would start growing the "real" buds everyone might be happier but possibly less productive, right? :P Thanks for your support, hit me back anytime with any of your good stuff or anything that's important.
